Saw another review about the carnitas torta and had to go try it. Was not disappointed! The bread was so soft, and carnitas melt in your mouth. Other plate we ordered was the quesacombo birria tacos. Amazing! Top it off with a Mexican coke and Selena in concert on the TV. What more can you ask for? Great service? They had that, too! Go check this place out!
I ordered the Torta De Carnitas, and I'm not exaggerating when I say it was life-altering. The carnitas were fall-apart tender and seasoned to perfection. The bread was amazing – perfect. So freaking good!
This place was fantastic! We ordered the quesabirria tacos, tacos suaves de asada, and empanadas de picadillo. Everything was fresh and delicious! The green salsa and the consomé for the birria were full of flavor and really stood out. We also had the horchata and limonada — both tasted super fresh and homemade. Great food and drinks, will definitely be coming back!

El Chivito is yet another of those hidden gems that I want to keep stashed, alas, I'm a generous person and feel compelled to let the city know what they're about. Upon arriving, you may be put off by the appearance, but don't judge a birria by its consommé. Actually, scratch that, you can totally judge this place by its consommé because it's that good. But the location is humble, albeit a little ratchet. Coming from the Bronx, I'm more than okay with places like this because I know they're going to lean heavily into their menu instead of the frills and fluff of a fake grass wall with neon quips. Despite being anchored in a parking lot and situating itself around curbs, the area is kept clean and well-stocked with napkins, squeeze bottled salsas, and spotless tables thanks to a courteous and engaging employee bustling out orders and bussing tables. My family of four ordered quesacombos and Tortas Mexicanas. The quesacombos comes with 3 quesabirrias and a bowl of consommé, which was a departure from the consommés I've tried around town that lacked flavor. I found myself spooning the liquid into my mouth long after the quesabirrias were eaten. The Torta Mexicana (mixta and birria) had crusty bolero bread and well-seasoned meats inside. Each came loaded with condiments and fixins making it a meal on its own. Aguas frescas were served in generous portions and for a decent price. Above all, the service is what compels me to recommend this place. The friendliness of all the employees we encountered, along with the high level of execution in the food makes this a place I can recommend.

Nevertheless, the wait was well worth it once I indulged in their delicious offerings. Birria Ramen 🍜, picadillo empanadas 🥟, Elote cup 🌽, tacos 🌮, and limonada 🍋 are all Fantastic!! This is definitely a spot you want to hangout and have some great eats! Staff was also wonderful! 10/10 will be returning! 🥸
Really enjoyed my late night meal out at El Chivito. The ramen birria was super tasty along with the bean and potato tacos dorados. I would definitely recommend this place, especially for a late night weekend food fix.
Our first time here and we enjoyed our experience here very much. Food was delicious, and the agua fresca de sandia y de horchata …🤤🤤🤤. Staff was very welcoming and engaged in conversation regarding business, attentive, and the atmosphere is very nice especially on a breezy night. Only time we picked up our phone was to take photos. We will be back, thank you.
I didn’t get to try too much but been here before. It never disappoints, I got the Beef Quesabirrias. An order of the onions and cilantro. It was made fresh and the salsa was a good too. The salsa wasn’t too spicy so you could still enjoy it all together without your mouth on fire. For the quesabirria they’re sold individually so I would say get at least 3. The drink I got was the Watermelon agua Fresca. Had bits of watermelon was a good drink. There is outdoor seating and inside too to stay cool.
This little place tucked away by wonderland mall is an absolute San Antonio must! The food was incredible. The staff was friendly and quick. They even have a small outdoor seating area where you can sit and enjoy your tacos fresh out of the kitchen. Everything was delicious and we will definitely be returning here for some more quesabirria tacos!
The birria tacos with the broth are super delicious. The flavor explodes when you dip the taco in the broth. When this place gets busy your food can take a long time to be served. It’s a little pricey but the food is worth the wait. The torta ahogada taste really good and they serve the salsa separate so you can add as much or as little as you want.
I must have passed this place a thousand times without noticing. Can't believe great food has been right in front of me this whole time. I will definitely be becoming a regular here. The tacos were awesome, filled with delicious, tender meats. A few different taco style options I hadn't heard of before. Maybe it's their own branding? Either way, mouth watering flavors. Love the shop and the workers and amazing. My only complaint is the inconsistency with the food. I always order the mini tacos chicken fajita. Some days I'll get a pile of cilantro and white onions on the side with the red pickled onions(which I love). Other times I'll get barely anything with just the meat and a sprinkle of the sides. I get the same results even when I ask for extra and pay for extra. It's disheartening at times. But the food itself is great and do recommend it to everyone. Just be prepared to have inconsistent sides at times. Here's a picture for reference. I ordered for the same thing the exact way.
