Traditional Tex-mex. Enchiladas were excellent. While I love some of the new flair one can find in mexical food this food takes me back to what I really love thw most. Comfort food at its best. Margaritas were outstanding as well.

The food was absolutely delicious—authentic flavors, generous portions, and beautifully presented. Every dish we tried was bursting with flavor. The service was just as impressive. Friendly, attentive staff made the whole experience even better. Whether you're a local or just visiting, La Fogata delivers on every level: great food, great ambiance, and great service. This is a truly incredible restaurant to visit. I enjoyed some nachos and a tasty Top Shelf Margarita with lovely company to match the cool night. Mariachi music and attentive staff was only a drop in the glass of a great dining experience. Our server Monica was busy but did her best to accommodate our requests and many questions. This a beautiful location with plenty of outside seating with drinks available if there’s a long waitlist for seating. The parking is ample, with an addition restaurant parking lot located across the street. The lighting and the atmosphere is bright and uplifting, with bright place settings, tables, and chairs. I visit La Fogata every time I come to San Antonio, and it never disappoints.

The food was pretty good. I really enjoyed it. I had the fish tacos which were delicious. We had a very large group and there was only one waitress taking care of about 25 our more people. It was kind of late as it was after state championships. So we didn't get there until about 8pm. By the time we all got our food, it was probably about 9:30. We enjoyed socializing in the wonderful atmosphere out on the patio. The margaritas were excellent. The mariachis were a nice touch. There was a photographer offering a free picture, but of course, they want you to buy some of their other shots. We did. Over all, it was very pleasant.

I loved it here !! I’m visiting texas and i’m so glad that this was the first restuarant i went to!! It’s so pretty and the food was good but nothing special!! The waiters were nice and other people working there that led me to the bathroom were so polite! I would definitely come back if i were to visit again.

It was my first time here at this cute restaurant. My cousins invited me, and it did not disappoint. The food was so delicious, but the customer service was amazingly outstanding. I believe our server a nice young man’s name was Francisco. He went above and beyond to accommodate a large party. I feel terrible. I didn’t take pictures of the food, but trust me, it was delicious. I am definitely coming back here. I highly recommend you check it out at La Fogata.

The chips and salsa was very good. My poblano was well prepared however it was filled with average tasting ground beef. I will choose a different filling next time. My partner tacos with fajita meat were very good. I like that they deep fried the corn tortilla.

Tell me why this restaurant has the best patio... We went on a Saturday and it was busy. Their waiting area is huge and you can get drinks while you wait at a saloon type window that faces the patio. That makes for an easy transaction instead of trying to fight to get 1 at the bar. We asked to be sat outside and we were able to secure a table after about 20 mins. The waiter was busy so service was slow. I ordered the fajitas and my friend ordered Enchiladas. Their salsa is roasted like rosarios so it was good. The queso dip is good. Nothing fancy. I would give the queso dip an 8/10. Fajita plate for the cost is definitely a 7/10. There’s barely any meat on the plate. The flavor is lacking. Rice and beans were kinda bland. They’re not my favorite fajitas in this city. My friend’s enchiladas were really good. Verde Sauce was tangy and sweet. The enchiladas were a 9/10. La Fogata is a San Antonio staple. Would I go back, Yes! Do I think they can improve on their food, Yes!

This is a beautiful restaurant with a wonderful vibe. I am a visual person so I felt like the atmosphere made up for the lackluster food and I would definitely like to go back and try some other entrees but my vegetarian enchilada certainly wasn't worth it's price and I expected more complex vegetable flavors other than a frozen mixed vegetable bag (carrots, corn, and peas). I also expected it to have cheese in it since it wasn't listed as vegan. Our server was kind and attentive so no complaints with the table service. The host/hostesses need to work on their friendliness and professional demeanor. They were hunched over when we came into the courtyard and they didn't greet us in any way. Professionalism from the front of the house staff especially hosts is very important. The frozen margarita was well made and attractive looking with the orchid garnish. I would recommend checking this restaurant out but don't expect amazing food.

Great Mexican restaurant. the food came out hot and well prepared. The flavors were rich. The cost per dish was a little bit higher than your typical Mexican restaurant. The overall atmosphere of this location is very inviting and unique. there is a very large patio area for outside however, since we dined at this location in January, we are much more comfortable inside due to the Colder temperatures outside. The service that we had tonight was slow. We had to grab the server and it still took him about 10 minutes to finally come back to refill our drinks and take our order. This is the reason I gave them 4 stars. The parking lot is very large and separate in different sections so if you can’t find parking in one part, keep driving through or around the location you’ll probably be able to find parking however, I’m sure that when they have a large parties or big happy hours that this can be very difficult so be patient. I think it’d be worth it. I recommend this location and look forward to coming back next time I’m in San Antonio.

Food quality has declined since we were here several years ago. My husband's fajitas were barely edible. My tacos al pastor were good but not great. Water refills were sparce. The mariachi band was so loud, and played so often, that my husband eventually removed his hearing aids.

I’m a native San Antonian and have been coming here since the early 80’s. La Fogata is a beautiful lively place, with a very cool landscaped hacienda atmosphere, fountains, amazing authentic food, and delicious margaritas. Working in the travel industry, I always talk about this place and to be sure to eat here. We ate dinner here tonight, even though the last time I ate here, it wasn’t the same, but wanted to give the benefit of the doubt. Well unfortunately the food disappointed, but the margaritas and salsa were still great as always. The chips at La Fogata have always been authentic, delicious and homemade, not the same now. The queso is also not as it was, very watery the last two visits we’ve gotten it. Enchilada verdes and cheese enchiladas, always my go to, were ok. And the refried beans were bland. I sure hope La Fogata will take note, as this is a gem of a place.

The service was great. The place is great. We only had an issue with the seats, the chairs are very uncomfortable, the food was a 7 out of 10 because the charro beans had no flavor, the rice was dry and not the best flavor. For dessert we got the guava empanada but it was extra crispy fried into a very old oil and it tastes like other food was fried in the same oil. First time visiting here and would give it another chance except the chairs DONT HELP 😩

Let me tell you how my birthday was nearly ruined in December. I called on friday at 12:27pm and spoke to a man on the phone to schedule a reservation. For Saturday the 14th at 6pm. Day of they stated they didn't have any record. So we got put on the wait list after waiting for 45 minutes in the rain they asked if we had a reservation! I was let down at this point considering the girl who asked put our name on the list. She double checked and promptly went to sit us down. We get to our table and come to find out they gave it to another party already. They immediately got another table set up for us on the other side of the property. Server was quick to get out order in, food was okay, margaritas here are always delicious. Luckily I had 2 to calm my nerves. I ordered the Tacos al Pastor ( corn tortillas filled with seasoned lean pork steak). Quite disappointed because I could squeeze the grease from every taco. Also, I don't know know what the seasoning was because it was bland like the beans.

I held really high hopes for this place! I loved the decor, it reminded me of being in Miami or Ybor City in Tampa. Walking inside, there was a strong bathroom/urine smell, I almost didn't want to sit inside. The seating seemed to consist of just bistro style chairs with tables, not super kid-friendly. They did bring a high chair when we asked if they had any. I got the coco loco drink, and it was good, tasted like a strawberry tropical milkshake. My husband and I shared the fajitas, which didn't seem right coming out. The onions were all on the bottom and meat on top, not sizzling or anything. The meat was good, but nothing great. Rice and beans were of a typical restaurant quality. The aftermath is what I have an issue with, my husband, myself and my daughter all ate the fajita meat and we all came down with terrible stomach issues that night, lasting a few days. The place is cool to visit and see, but not worth the food quality.

TERRIBLE!!! Do not go! Watered down "nothing" margarita. Food was bland and oily. Felt like the plate was just heated up by the microwave. NEVER AGAIN!! This was the Dominion location.
