Our first time at Toogies was for the Valentines Tasting Meal. What a great meal but way too much food ... all of the food tasted wonderful and we had to have things boxed up so we could move to the next course. By desert we were so full we just had those to go. To the chef and staff- excellent job and wonderful service. While the kitchen was a bit loud, as we were on the first floor, we both came from the restaurante industry and it made us smile. Only suggestion would be to maybe lower to portion sizes on the coursed meals ... especially the starters. Maybe smaller portion with a lower price would be nice... Would have also loved to have seen a suggested wine pairing or wine flight with the meal. We will be back as we must try the salmon and chop ... but now know we will share starters.
Very happy experience! Everything was cooked to perfection and very UNIQUE. Our waitress was really lovely and prices were moderate. We had a wonderful meal and a great time there.
Allie made exquisite cocktails! The atmosphere was perfect for our dinner party of 8. Service was top notch! The food was deliciously prepared. Instagram worthy and portion size was a lot!
What a great meal at Toogies Table in Bardstown! The beautiful dining room was all ours. The mixed drinks Sam concocted were outstanding. Toogies fried chicken with whipped chicken liver mousse, cornmeal canelé, Trinidad apple, hot honey was fantastic. Whipped Labneh Cream Duo was fantastic! Rich and delicious contrasting flavors made for a tasty start. The Chesapeake Broccoli soup was tasty and presented very well! All the dishes came out artfully delightful and very well thought out in presentation. So aesthetic. Bravo Toogies Table! Can’t wait to come back 😊
Absolutely incredible experience and hospitality. We were a relatively last minute reservation (only a week’s heads up for 13) and also happened to be a social and excitable bachelor party. To say this place delivered is an understatement. The food was all incredible and fine dining quality without being overly stuffy or pretentious. The chicken spaetzle and fried chicken stole the spotlight for me, but you couldn’t go wrong with anything. Another big perk was in addition to the comfort classics, they offered a good selection of vegetarian options which was a big factor for us too. The staff was patient and equally accommodating to our level of celebration, to the tune of more than one getting wedding invites extended if they happened to be in the area at the time. Thank you so much for an awesome experience, definitely was a highlight of the weekend thanks to the whole team here that made it happen. Pro tip: they own the hotel/space next door that has a pool that they were gracious enough to make us aware to, so if you want to live here - you can (although that is up for debate how wise that was).
Inventive and interesting food that isn’t cutting edge, but uses special ingredients to highlight flavors. Had the recommended squash salad. It was a little salty for me, but my companion thought it was just right. Had the recommended pork chop and it was in a broth with beans, greens, and fennel. It also had a side of beets with “pastrami” seasoning. The pork chop was done just right and the broth with the beans really matched well. I didn’t love the fennel, but my companion did. The service was top notch. We had our server plus about 3 other people looking out for us to make sure we’re having fun and everything was good. They made one mistake at the beginning, not their fault, but were such good service, they remedied it immediately and the meal and the experience were excellent. Wish we got to see Toogie, since it is her table, but I’m told she lives right next door. Also, as a side note, we tried to walk from Old Talbott’s, but were foiled by the sidewalk ending. Went back to the car and drove it, and there is a sidewalk, but it switches sides of the road and is less than ideal.
Beautiful atmosphere, great food, and reasonable prices. Our server, Amy, was an absolute delight. Will return next time we are in town.
Wow wow wow ! Some of the best service and food I’ve had in Bardstown. Aimee is so kind, thoughtful and on top of it. Will definitely be back just for her! (The food doesn’t hurt ;))
Hostess Amy is an angel. Eggs Benedict, Butter Bean soup, homemade bourbon sourdough bread pudding... All SUPERB. Don't miss this place!
Fabulous. Definitely worth the drive. The atmosphere was cozy and comfortable. Everything that I had was very good.. lots of depth for the palate. I had the broccoli soup, Meatpie, Sunday Gravy and a very nice gelato for dessert.
Our waitress was absolutely amazing. So helpful with options & thoughts on the most popular dish. Such a joy to talk too about the local places around. Food was amazing, I had the meatloaf with these root vegetables with a glaze that I could literally eat on anything. Meatloaf was out of this world. My husband had the Cornish hen with was so juicy. The local beer cheese was some od the best tasting i have ever had. This restaurant was high end to me. Inside was stunning & had a very romantic setting.
We had an excellent experience, the food was fantastic and the holiday drinks were delicious. Our waitress Autumn was great! We will absolutely be back! Thank you for helping us celebrate our anniversary it was the perfect quiet atmosphere we were looking for!
Our server Amy was amazing. They prefer reservations, but we walked straight in and were sat. Food was so delicious and presented beautifully. Very nice dinner with my husband.
What a cool spot for a date night! The food was delicious and the service was even better! I would highly recommend the salmon with local veggies. Very cozy intimate vibes.
Toogie’s Table is an absolute gem in Bardstown! From the moment you walk in, the warm and inviting atmosphere sets the tone for an exceptional dining experience. The staff is incredibly friendly and attentive, making you feel right at home. The food? Outstanding. Every dish is thoughtfully crafted with fresh, high-quality ingredients. Whether you're indulging in a classic Southern favorite or trying one of their seasonal specials, you can taste the passion and expertise in every bite. The cocktails are equally impressive—well-balanced, creative, and a perfect complement to the meal. If you're in Bardstown, Toogie's Table is a must-visit. Fantastic food, excellent service, and a cozy yet upscale vibe make it a standout dining destination. I can't wait to come back!
Best restaurant EVER. Exceptional food. Port was divine. Wine was smooth. Sea breeze was the best I have ever had. Chris was a very attentive waiter. Candy shared the amazing history. Such great staff. I had the salmon which was outstanding. My husband had the wagyu beef. Desert was amazing. I had the strawberry panacota. My husband had the pecan ice cream with meringue. Even the decaf french press coffee was unbelievable. We are going back tomorrow!!;
Absolutely fantastic dining experience. The Cote De Boeuf very well may possibly be the best piece of meat I have ever eaten. The Squash was incredible, the table devoured it. My wife had the pasta said it was amazing. My only complaint is that they need a changing table in the restroom. Same type of atmosphere that made Kurtz famous. They may not cook their chicken in lard but it was still damn good. Please excuse the photos, the food was so delicious that I only thought taking of pictures after 3-4 bites. Cannot recommend highly enough.
The experience at Toogie’s Table was outstanding. Our group was visiting the area and happened to drive by. We were told that they were all booked up for the night, and there was no more bar seating available, but the staff were kind and accommodating and they opened up another section for us. (Keep in mind that they, like most businesses, are struggling with staffing shortages and can’t always seat as many people as they’d like to). The food was incredible — unusual, inventive, and flavorful. Their signature “starter” was the perfect bite, and the cocktails were professional grade (I recommend the gimlet). The “Sunday Gravy” was one of the most delicious and unique pasta dishes I’ve ever had (bucatini, tomato braised pork shoulder, sheep’s milk, and garlic streusel). I also tried the “Short Noodle,” another pasta entree that was so weird but so good I had to keep going back for more. It was a slightly sweeter flavor profile. For dessert, I recommend the port. It was exquisite. The staff here were attentive, friendly, and informative. I would absolutely recommend this restaurant!
Amy was wonderful! The whole experience was just amazing. Food was delicious, pacing perfect, and I felt so loved with a birthday treat as well. Great sourcing on ingredients in the kitchen that made my heart happy. Thanks for a perfect night!
We stopped in for dinner several months ago after distillery tours. The food was exceptional, especially the gluten free gnocchi! Shawn took care of us and his service was outstanding! Don't pass this little gem by, it's worth a visit!
My partner and I had an excellent dining experience at Toogies. After a mishap with the table light decoration our waitress Aimee laughed and assured us that we were perfectly okay and didn’t break the light🥴 The food was delicious and Aimee was attentive to our drink and food needs. I had the fried chicken and my partner had the brisket mac and cheese. Both dishes were extremely flavorful. We would definitely come back!
This restaurant had a great atmosphere and was so quaint and includes a hotel. Service was great (thanks, Aimee) and everything we had was delicious. The deviled eggs appetizer was authentic Southern and reminded me of something from a good church potluck. Salmon dip was just the right consistency.Their brisket and meatloaf was amazing. Even sides like mashed potatoes and vegetables were complementary and well seasoned. Bread pudding and cheesecake desserts are worth it. We really enjoyed our experience and we’ll be back next time we’re in town.
Cocktails and food were good; Featured Old Fashion and Granddad is smashed with Bison Meatloaf and Mac and cheese for dinner. The Fire Bread was a really nice treat and our server Amy was an absolute treasure; so sweet and took excellent care of us.
Great cozy bar and restaurant. Had an incredible night there on a whim as it's a short walk (across the parking) from the hotel I stayed at. Our bartender/server Taylor was amazing and kept the evening entertaining and fun. She made a mean white russian. The bar has a wide selection of bourbons of course. The food was delicious although I think the menu online and in restaurant may have changed at the time we were there not really a problem but be warned. Overall had a wonderful night there then walked the 100 feet back to our room.
Adorable little spot with wonderful service and great atmosphere. Our server Aimee was excellent, we’d come back and ask for her! Pork chop was cooked perfectly, brisket was delish, and the cocktails were incredible. Beautiful date night spot!
We were upstairs at the bar and had such a great time! Taylor was our bartender/server and she was so fun and made the best drinks! She gave my husband and I a celebratory dessert for my husband’s birthday, which was the reason we were in town from Wisconsin. Great food & cocktails. Great atmosphere and music. Would love to come back next time we do our next Bourbon Trail trip!
Amanda is a phenomenal server. Great food, great ambiance. 5 stars across the board compliments to the chef and staff!
Aimee was our server and she was excellent. She was very attentive and helpful. The food was outstanding. Mac n cheese with brisket was a cant miss. Had the fried chicken but the sweet corn relish stole the show of the plate.
We had a wonderful dinner at Toogie’s table. We came to Bardstown from Florida and forgot about the time difference so turned up at 9:30pm, way late for our reservation. But the staff at Toogie’s welcomed us warmly even at such a late hour. Our hostess and our waitress, Aimee, were both fantastic and we had a wonderful dinner after a long drive! We will definitely be back and highly recommend this restaurant.
Came to the restaurant without reservations but on a referral from the Bourbon Butler( Norma) @ the Trail Hotel. Accommodated by Amy at the front desk, got one of the best tables in the restaurant. Amy was also our wait staff with great service. Food was fantastic and atmosphere was warm and friendly. Would definitely recommend this restaurant and be sure to request Amy for wait staff. The food was excellent, with 5 star care. A must for Bardstown dining.
Just ate at Toogie’s Table and it was amazing. Amy our server was excellent as was the meatloaf. The cheese and broccoli soup was hands down the best I have ever had. Will definitely be eating here again.
Everything about this experience was amazing. Long had I thought there were no good places to eat in Bardstown, but Toogie’s Table proved me wrong! Our server Amy took fabulous care of us, ensuring we had a good experience, and even the hose, though I didn’t get his name, checked on us several times throughout the meal (he even gave us a pointer on how to use our leftover beer cheese on a grilled cheese!). I definitely will be coming back!
Aimee was out server. She greeted us with a warm welcoming smile. We arrived a few minutes past 5:00. As they had just opened at 5:00, there were no other people present. She lead us to a wonderful table near the fireplace. She helped me to select a delicious cocktail from the bar. Aimee also gave us a Military discount on our food, due to noticing Bill's military hat. Also, the food was amazing. I ordered gnocchi. Bill ordered meatloaf. This restaurant is perfect for a large gathering, or for a quiet, romantic dinner. We will absolutely return if we return to the area!
Absolutely fantastic food and service. A manager that encourages and they deliver superb service. 20 out of 10 recommend. They seated 13 people and served us together with very different plates. All food was fantastic. I overheard the manager give his kitchen team kudos for the excellent job they did after we got our entres. Our server, Amy, was fantastic and the manager, Jimmy, assisted with the rest of the dining room while we had her focus. THAT is how you keep a happy team ready to serve with excellence!
They have recently changed head chefs and have all new menu items. We sampled several appetizers and entrees, and everything was wonderful! All foods are locally sourced and unique. The business owner and head chef both talked with us and were very friendly. Some of our favorites were the crab cakes, hush puppies, salads, pork chop, and gnocchi. The Cornish hen and the meatloaf were both amazing! If you can, save room for dessert! We will definitely be coming back!
We love Amy! Fantastic service and a warm smile. The salmon and gnocchi are both excellent and cooked to perfection. Zach looooved the cornbread muffins, couldn’t get enough. We will be back xoxo
Great selection of bourbon. Cabbage Cesar was amazing with added fried chicken!! Peach cheese cake was good. Really peachy and a thick crust.
We came in for our wedding anniversary. We drove a hour from Louisville. At first, we weren’t sure it was open and the “Open” sign wasn’t illuminated, even though we had made reservations. We were the first customers of the night. We ordered the panko deviled eggs. It was different. We like the yolk to be a little creamier and could have done without the pickle, but it was a one time experience. My husband ate the beef brisket. The first bite was a little dry but it was tender as he cut into it. The mashed potatoes were good. I ordered the pork chop, bone in, with “local seasonal vegetables”. The pork chop had a nice grill flavor and char. Towards the bone though, the meat was very pink, but that’s kind of to be expected without over cooking the chop. My vegetables were a mix of yellow squash, red peppers and green peppers with seasoning. At first I thought I was getting a fajita. It even smelled the same. I was not a fan of them. They did give us a bread pudding with “Happy Anniversary” written in chocolate. It was good, and that was as very sweet of them. If we were already in Bardstown doing something, we would return for apps and cocktails, but to make a hour trek again, we will pass. Cute place decorated for the holidays and the staff was nice.
We had a very nice experience. The broccoli soup and caesar salad were fantastic and the entrees were good - chicken & dumplings and Sunday Gravy - both meals were pretty heavy though. The staff service is driving the success of this restaurant. Our server was great and made us feel very welcomed. We were not sure what the main food item was for this restaurant and it was confusing figuring out what they are known for. But we landed on some good options and enjoyed our evening.
Appetizers were all delicious: deviled eggs, crab cakes, hush puppies, and crab cakes. Corn muffins were too dry, but everything else was great! We had great service, our server Aimee was so helpful. The lighting and atmosphere was very nice!
One word to describe Toogie's is confusing. Burger was good but it's difficult to eat without a fork. Hog Chop was delivered in a broth. Odd mixture of interior design, menu, and price points. Found it to be very annoying to hear the chef yelling out the order to the wait staff.
Our Toogie Experience: Booking a reservation was fast and easy. The restaurant even let us come early (swimming really does build up an appetite). The atmosphere was calm, dim lighting with little light votives on each table and just a few windows open with natural light coming in. Very relaxing & romantic. We were sat right away with window seating. My only complaint was that there were several flies on the inside portion of the window but they never flew on to the food. The table ordered country ham fritters, deviled eggs, and the crab cakes. The country ham fritters were yummy but a must share as it’s pretty salty, 2 of us found the deviled eggs very tasty but 1 of us felt like the eggs were prepackaged eggs and had a fishy taste to them. The crab cakes were good. Our entrees were less than enjoyable and we were really disappointed. I ordered the meatloaf and while the meat was moist and tender-the “sweet tomato “ topping was basically just spaghetti sauce. I felt like I was eating a pile of spaghetti without noodles. Mashed potatoes were cold and I had the gravy tasted like packet gravy. My friend ordered the fried chicken and it was probably the best thing on our table. Cooked perfectly and the skin had the best crunch. Her potatoes were the same-barely warm. We both agreed that the side veg was delicious. My other friend ordered the gnocchi and it was the worst of all. The gnocchi was horribly over cooked. she had it topped with grilled chicken and it was burnt and had the smell of dirty dishwater. It was completely inedible. I will say the waitress and the food manager were completely accommodating and had amazing recovery. They took her meal off and Gave us a free dessert. The service was great but we wish we would’ve had a better meal experience.
3.75 / 5 I'll preface this by saying I am a bit biased because we were excited to try this place and had (have) high hopes. The renovation was well done and the dining room was comfortable and inviting. That being said, it was a personal miss for us based on the menu at the time of our visit. The cocktails (mostly the old fashioned) were good - but any self respecting restaurant in Bourbon country should have a solid OF. Our server (Kelly) was great, and a lot of fun. The host was also very kind and engaging. Zero complaints with the staff - well above average. We started with the Labneh and the KY ham trio. The sourdough served with the Labneh was very good, but the creams were unexceptional. $16 for the ham was a bit of a stretch - but the cornmeal caneles were probably my favorite part of the meal. We had the Hog Chop, Short Noodle and Sunday Gravy for entrees. The short noodle was fair but it was a bit bland and the flavor profile was odd. It was also room temp. The Sunday Gravy also could have been warmer. The lamb meat was quite good and the sauce / pasta were fine. Could have used more acid and a little heat (personal preference). The Hog Chop absolutely made the worst impression of any entree. I wasn't asked about temp so I offered it. I had no idea I was getting a small, sliced pork chop. $38 for any pork chop is a big stretch for me - but the stated "18 oz" made it more believable and as such I was expecting an exceptional piece of meat. Instead, I got what was pictured. Maybe 3/4" thick and effectively served in a bowl of greens soup (white beans and greens in broth). The flavor was good, albeit a bit dull. I just couldn't get over this tiny piece of $38 pork that was represented as 18 oz. We'll go back and try the burger and watch the rotating menu to see what develops. If the current menu (pictured) was all that was ever offered - we wouldn't be back. It's not the price point so much as it's the value. It's not there and the flavors aren't good enough to make up for that.
I was really looking forward to eating here as the reviews are pretty good and it was rated one of the best in Bardstown. It was not that special. The mac and cheese was very overcooked and underseasoned. My husband's salmon was very rare, his risotto was soggy ,and my gnocchi was thick but tasted pretty good. The crab cakes were just OK. Drinks were great though!
I can not encourage anyone to go to this restaurant after our experience. It was a night of total disappointments from a place that bills itself to be Bardstown's nicest restaurant. I get it! Sunday nights can be hard in the restaurant business, and I understand this. Nonetheless as a customer if the open sign is on I expect good service, hot food, and pleasurable experience. This past Sunday none of those expectations were met. Our hostess was a pleasant young lady that chose to seat us up stairs in an 80 degree dining room and our server was missing most of the night and wasnt very friendly or welcoming. We started with the meat balls and it was a promising start. They had a unique flavor and a very good presentation. We had the pasta bolognese ( which was just spaghetti sauce and the left over meatballs crumbled into it), the meatloaf sandwich with fries which was cold enough the butter on the bun has congealed and a $12 order of Mac & cheese which was ok but needed seasoning. After waiting 10 minutes with empty drinks and having to go track our waitress down, I got major attitude for having the audacity to expect hot food and asking for my meatloaf sandwich to be warmed. The highlight of the night was the blackberry cobbler which we asked for ice cream on the side but when it arrived to the table you could see where the ($3 single scoop ) ice cream had been scraped off the cobble and put in a dish. Just one disappointment after another.
My husband and I were so looking forward to a lovely dinner, and were so disappointed. Our server was excellent as was the hostess. My salmon was very good, but can't say the same for my husband's burger. He ordered it medium rare to rare. Round 1 it came out well done and dry. He sent it back. Round 2 we were shocked that it came back not rare but raw. I mean barely light brown to red raw on the outside and completely raw on the inside. Our server proactively got it removed from our bill. After reading some other reviews it seems like there is a problem with the kitchen. I wish I had read the reviews before we ate there.
Was just there, catfish starter was good. The steak was cold, tough and couldn't even cut it, I had to pull what little I ate with my fingers. The potatoes were also cold. First time there and likely the last. The waitress was awesome, wish the food had of been!
If I could give zero stars, I would. The restaurant itself has a nice atmosphere and the service was fine, but the food was the most disappointing part of our visit. Two of us ordered the chef’s special steak, cooked to medium rare, but it was nearly impossible to cut with the dull steak knives provided. The “roasted” potatoes were over-blanched, mushy in texture, and burnt on one side. Another guest ordered a salad that came with stale, untoasted bread, along with macaroni and cheese that had no flavor and dry, tasteless brisket on top. The last dish at our table, the gnocchi, was sadly the best of the bunch—even though it was overcooked. Overall, every dish lacked seasoning and flavor. Instead of a chef’s touch, it felt like we needed an entire spice rack just to make the meals palatable. To make matters worse, the meals were overpriced for the quality served. Unfortunately, this was one of the most underwhelming dining experiences we’ve had. We won’t be returning and cannot recommend this restaurant to others.
Sad to say I was looking forward to enjoying a delicious meal and everything went wrong. Started with some mac n cheese as an appetizer only for it to be served cold. Followed by the steak special of the night two that we ordered for our table, to be served under cooked not once but twice. Instead of them starting over with a fresh piece of meat they just charred the same piece and still came out raw. It felt as though the oven or grill wasn’t working properly but regardless food came out. Staff was apologetic which we appreciate but at the end of the day meal was disappointing. This was our second restaurant experience in Kentucky that was sadly underwhelming. .
We came to Toogie’s with high expectations, but the experience was a complete disappointment. The food is outrageously overpriced for what you get. My gnocchi ragù was practically inedible, and I actually had to send it back. While the space itself is cute and cozy, the kitchen falls flat — the food quality simply doesn’t come close to justifying the cost.
