Guacamole Modern Mexican

I’ve been in Louisville for a year now (I’m a foodie from New York) and this is the best restaurant I’ve tried in Louisville so far! Trust me I have tried a lot here in my time! I’ve tried almost all the spots my local patients have raved about and they were nice but the food was so bland compared to the food I’m used to in NY. This place reminds me of my favorite Mexican spot in the suburbs of NY and I’m so happy to have found it! Food, atmosphere, presentation, and service were wonderful the 3-4 times I’ve been here! Only downside is trying to find parking but totally worth the struggle! I forget what the drink is called on the menu but the spicy mango margarita with the popsicle stick in it is hands down one of my favorite drinks I’ve been served at a restaurant! I haven’t found anything I didn’t like on the menu yet and the portions are a nice size for hungry customers!

First time at this restaurant and we loved it. I enjoyed the fusion of Cuban and Mexican food. I had a great mocktail, well presented and delicious. I had the salmon dish, which comes with rice and sweet plantains. I also got to try a few appetizers, including the guac with pork rinds. I also tried the black beans that were fantastic Cuban style. The staff was very welcoming and we enjoyed music from the musical trio that sang traditional Cuban music. The decor and music was upbeat and lively! Definitely recommend this spot 🙌🏽

Very beautiful environment, I love the decor. The swings two seats were very cool and almost like a private setting. Appetizers came out fairly quick and were delicious. If they're busy be prepared to wait 45 minutes plus for your entrée. I'm not the biggest fan of black beans and/or rice but both came with my entrée and they both were freaking delicious! All food came out hot with beautiful plating.

One of my favorite stops while visiting Louisville — and for good reason. This place is truly special. From the warm, attentive staff to the creative, flavorful dishes, everything here feels thoughtfully done. Add in the stylish, playful décor, and you’ve got a spot that’s not only delicious but also fun and unforgettable.

House made fresh corn tortillas, the most tender steak I’ve ever had. Every.single.item. Is fresh! The atmosphere is fantastic. Fun yet intimate. I would return for the black beans alone. Authentic with flare. We will be stopping her again next year!

All I have to say is wow. This place is top-notch. Food was on another level, staff was very friendly and professional. Atmosphere was cozy and inviting. Would highly recommend and cannot wait to visit again.

Went there last night with a group of friends and we had the best time! Our server Alex was great and went above behind to make a friend's birthdsy special without even asking! Food was amazing and drinks were fantastic!

So fun and photo worthy galore. Great for date night, girl's dinner, etc. Live mariachi band, amazing food, and good margaritas!!!! I got tacos with cojita cheese shells!! YUM!!! Would eat them again and again. Great place to go in Nulu!

I have had nothing but good experiences at this restaurant. They do a really good job with food presentation as well. I had a goat cheese salad with a puree and beets and it was one of the best salads I've ever had. The bread pudding was phenomenal with a nice table side presentation.

We were in town on vacation and we're intrigued by the swinging patio dining chairs and artwork. We were not prepared for the amazing cocktails and food experience we were about to have. We were blown away by the explosion of flavors and portions of food. Honestly, it's the best Latin food we've had had in a while; we would come back weekly if we lived closer. The pazole and mole were exquisite. Monica, our server, was very friendly and knowledgeable about of menue items- she added to our time.

Amazing food drinks and vibes tucked inside of the NuLu district of downtown Louisville. Service was fast. Food was great. Drinks were 10/10 I ordered the Ceviche for an appetizer and a house Old Fashioned to pair it with.

Visited on Saturday, 30 August 2025 Guacamole was recommended to me since back in April 2025, and ever since I have had it on my 'want to go' list. Since we were in Louisville, we decided to stop and get something to eat. I searched my trusty Yelp app and Guacamole came up in my recommendations and I remembered that I have been meaning to try it. So we did! I'm to report that I finally made it and I was not disappointed. Actually, I am a bit disappointed in myself since I was not hungry enough to order my own entrée. Our waitress was Monica. She was attentive but not intrusive. She went over the menu and made her recommendations. She checked on us frequently. What I liked most was the other wait staff who all worked cohesive. They would take our used dishes or refilled our waters, they never skipped a beat. For appetizer, we had the Guacamole dip. It came with corn chips and a few plantain chips. It was soooo good, we ordered a second Guacamole dip with all plantain chips (we were informed that there would be an uncharted, but honestly when the bill came it was not too much - and extra 2$). Like I stated, I was not hungry, so my partner ordered the carne asada. It was a large portion, so we shared it. Yummy! Between that and the Guacamole, I was stuffed. The carne asada was presented beautifully. It was on a cast iron grill that was still sizzling and placed on a box with a drawer that had to the tortillas. The space is massive. The atmosphere had a chill but posh, upscale vibe. We sat out on the patio since it was a beautiful day but there was indoor seating as well as an upstairs area. The seating were beautiful, but I don't think the swinging basket chair, where I sat, were practical for eating. I must go back because I want my own entrée and I want to try the alcoholic beverages.

We recently moved to Pennsylvania, but came back to Louisville for a wedding—and there was no way we were missing a meal at our favorite restaurant in town! Guaca Mole never disappoints. I ordered my all-time favorite drink, the Smoked Paloma (still the best!), and the Carnitas plate for dinner. Perfectly crispy on the outside, tender on the inside—just the way it should be. Always worth the trip!

Updated: Our second visit was just as amazing as the first. Our server David was absolutely excellent he explained the dishes, was very patient with the mariachi band (they can be a little loud), and took care of us like we were guests in his house. The food like last time... AMAZING! We will be back! We wouldn't change a thing! Everything from our dinner last night was awesome. The service was excellent. They gave us enough space to not feel rushed, but we never felt like we were waiting on our server. Food, EXCELLENT!! Presentation, FANTASTIC!! We will be back with a smaller group so we can sit in the hanging chairs.

This place was amazing. Great service and super accommodating. We went for a business dinner and ended up having one more person over the reservation we made (could usually be a problem) - not here! They were happy to welcome our guest and provided great service. Aside from the service - the food, drinks, and atmosphere are amazing. Highly suggest this place

In town to visit family and chose Guacomole for dinner and margs due to the reviews! No disappointments! Sidney was our server and she was friendly, prompt and attentive. The pitcher of margs were amazing! The food quality was above average by far. Had a great experience!

I travel all over the country and I promise you this place is the best I’ve ever been in my life! The atmosphere the music the food is all beyond expectation. Do yourself a favor and come here! The live music is the cherry on top!

I have made it a mission to try everything on the menu here, it is THAT good!! So far I have been 3 times and have been more pleased each time. Service has been exceptional! I love that everyone is knowledgeable about the menu since there are a lot of things I have never heard of or even able to pronounce on there. I can't say enough about the food and the presentation! Flavorful is not descriptive enough! I haven't had anything that I haven't wanted to lick the plate clean afterwards. Looking forward to the next trip and a new item to try!

Absolutely amazing. One of the best restaurants I have been to in a while. The food is perfect, so flavorful and super reasonably priced for such high quality food. The service is flawless- fast, friendly and professional. The atmosphere is ideal for dinner with family and friends- bright, well decorated, fun and unpretentious with live music. I was in Louisville for a work trip and ended up at Guacamole with a few colleagues and I’m so glad we did. From the moment we walked in, the vibe was on point. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and the service throughout the night was excellent. I ordered the tacos al pastor, and they came out unassembled with such a cool presentation, it definitely added to the experience. The flavors were spot on and super authentic. We couldn’t stop snacking on the chips and the different salsas they brought out, each one had its own personality, and all of them were solid. Of course, we had to try the guac (how could you not with a name like Guacamole?), and yeah, it lived up to the hype, fresh, flavorful, and perfectly made. To top it off, we went for the churro cart for dessert. Not only were the churros delicious, but the way they brought them out was so unique, it made the whole table smile. Highly recommend this place if you’re in town. Great food, great service, and a really fun experience overall.

We had such an amazing first experience here. Jordan was our waiter and he was so knowledgeable on the menu and gave us great recommendations! Very prompt, filled our waters and very polite. Overall great job! Loved the food! We got the Mole Enchiladas Trio and the Carne Asada burrito! The Enchiladas were so flavorful and unique. 10/10 recommend.

Beats expectations! Who knew that you would find some of the best Mexican food in Louisville, KY?! Tasty, well-priced, flavorful. Creative cocktails and mocktails. But be sure to get reservations as it fills up quickly. Server was wonderfully patient. My one suggestion to management... Please reduce the sound level. Between the crowds and the band it's hard to hear your dining friends.

I rarely give 5 Stars across the board. This was a great experience. Our food was top notch, the surroundings were authentic and the wait staff was out of this world great! (Thanks also to the Mariachi band). And while celebrating both my birthday and mother's day, the experience was one I won't forget. Thank you girls.

I really enjoyed this place. It’s been on my list for a while, and every time I passed by, it seemed rocking. I went for lunch on a Sunday, but there was no lunch menu. I ordered the brisket tacos, and they were fantastic. They had a nice spice and the meat was tender and plentiful. And the three tacos ended up being way bigger than I anticipated. The trio of salsas and taquitos were tasty, and the refried beans were probably the best I’ve had. The ambiance is very cool, with lots of seating. And the staff were super friendly and accommodating. The only knock is that it’s quite expensive…so just be prepared for that.

Absolutely enjoyed every moment! From the hanging chairs, to the lovely guys playing instruments and singing for you, not to mention the food was incredible, and so much to look at!

The Pollo mole was full of flavor and well balanced with the plantain. The queso (added chorizo) may have been the best I've ever had. Our server was attentive and answered any questions. Walked in to a mariachi band playing. The decor is amazing 10/10

I had an amazing experience at Guacamole Modern Mexican! The food was absolutely delicious—fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. Every dish we tried was packed with authentic flavor and tasted even better than it looked. What really made the visit special, though, was the service. Rey was incredibly helpful, attentive, and friendly, making sure we had everything we needed and giving great recommendations that turned out to be spot-on. He went above and beyond to make us feel welcome, and his warm personality really added to the overall experience. Between the fantastic food and Rey’s outstanding service, this has become one of my new favorite spots. I highly recommend Guacamole Modern Mexican if you’re looking for a great meal and even better hospitality!

From the moment you walk in you feel like family. The hostess, the manager and friendly servers are excelent and so attentive. The food is another level of delicious. Presentation, flavor and freshness TOP NOTCH. Our order arrived very fast and was perfectly served. Overall a perfect dinner and fabulous ambiance. XOXO till next time!

I came here last night for my fiances Holiday office party and was blown away by the artwork, atmosphere and amazing service. I absolutely LOVED everything about this establishment. I ordered their Carnidas and they were crispy and so flavorful especially on their house made tortillas. Their refried black beans were the best I've ever had. For desert we split a chocolate flambeau with strawberries, marshmallows and graham crackers and it was delicious. Guacamole's already has me wanting to make a side trip to Louisville this week to try another dish off their menu. If you're in the neighborhood this restaurant is a must! I'll definitely be back!

A true treat for the palate! This is not your average Mexican. The Margarita was pure, subtle and delicious, a top shelf experience. Birria tacos were absolutely outstanding, perfectly spiced, tender Angus beef, crisp corn tortilla, and the perfect thinly sliced chillies. The service could not have been better, truly aimed to please.

The best thing was the starter - a play on taquitos. I liked the enchiladas, but think the steak based dishes are where they excel. I got the Oaxaca Old Fashioned and didn’t really care for it. I then got the Cantorita and it just tasted like orange juice. We were too full to get the flan, but I’ve heard good things. I enjoyed it quite a bit, but didn’t love love love everything.

This place is fun, food is good and its vibe is contagious. We ordered appetizers and drinks and it was plenty for two.

We went here because we had heard many good things. The atmosphere was fun, but it was WAYYY too loud. Half the time we were dining the band was standing in the room playing songs and we couldn’t hear each other talk. The waiter we had was ok. They were busy when we went so there was a lot of commotion. The food is presented VERY well, but that is the best part of it. The fish tacos were lacking flavor, and the taco Al pastor meat was VERY tough, and not nearly enough meat for the shells they gave us with it. The only food we ordered we were very happy with was the nachos.

Good food overall. The guacamoles were tasty. The tacos were good and hearty. The steak was cooked well. The fish was also excellent. Two reasons for the 4 star: 1) Drinks were just okay and a little sweet 2) Price is a little expensive ($25–$30 for 3 tacos)

The food is definitely more modern Mexican (fried birria, fish, etc custom tacos vs a ground beef + beans + rice place). The guac options were tasty, but they had 3 varieties , and I'll admit that other than a bit of corn in one, I couldn't taste a huge difference between them. Service was attentive. I never wanted for an empty drink very long, and the dietary needs at my table were well taken care of. I mostly like the "Dia de los muertos" atmosphere but I can't say I'm always in the mood for a roving band during dinner, and they were moving about and playing a lot while I was eating.
