Opinions de Jiro's Belmont
This place is pretty small but cute. There are not that many seats inside, and most people seem to be taking food to go. I got the tonkatsu quesadilla for $12 and it was essentially cabbage, corn, and tonkatsu, and cheese inside a tortilla(?) shell. It was an interesting item, but tasted pretty good.
Jiro cafe is an amazing hidden gem of a Japanese cafe nestled in the green hills of Belmont. The pastries and food here are top notch and authentic and this place is actually Japanese owned. Their yakisoba sandwiches to their katsu as well as the melon soda and delicious hojicha lattes transported me to the charming cafes in Ginza, Tokyo. So good!
I absolutely love Jiro Cafe and especially their musubi’s and cheesecakes. What a great small cafe/bakery in a beautiful location! It’s owned by a wonderful lady who is clearly very passionate about her work and taking care of guests, hopefully you get the chance to meet her during your visit!
Not a lot of japanese bakery selection here in the Bay Area, but this spot is a must-try. Decided to try a large variety of the menu, and everything was a hit. Would def recommend getting the chocolate and matcha lattes; they are so rich and authentic which is rare to find even amongst drink specialized stores. Also would recommend the cream cornets and the tonkatsu sandwich; portion is huge! Staff were all very friendly and professional; I you like your bread not too sweet, would def recommend.
What a quaint Japanese bakery and cafe with a very homey feel! The pastries are freshly baked daily and includes many Japanese favorites like ham and swiss bread, anpan (bun with sweet red bean filling), melon pan (round sweet bun topped by a crispy sugar cookie coating) and curry pan (fried bread with curry inside) as well as Japanese style bread. They have desserts such as custard pudding, coffee jello (yum!), and maritozo... etc (specials daily). They also serve savory Japanese entrees such as tonkatsu sando (sandwich), yakisoba sando, beef curry don and gyu don (beef rice bowl) as well as different types of onigiri (rice ball 🍙 )... and even spam musubi, (how did Hawaiian get in the mix? :P ). Beverages includes various coffee, teas, lattes and sodas. My favorites here so far include black pepper bacon cheese bread, cold udon bowl, and apple pan. I wonder if om-rice will ever get on the menu here! The store is on soft opening (sign still says "Ike's Sandwiches") with limited hours (check first). But if you're in the neighborhood and want to try something delicious and beyond just seeing them in Japanese animes, this is the place for you! Yummy nomnoms with super friendly service not to be missed!
A delightful, quaint, and cute Japanese cafe! It's such a treat to have on the Peninsula. The katsu sandwich is solid. I love the cabbage to meat to sauce ratio. It is a messy one, so consider yourself warned. New items appeared since I visited the first time so make sure to visit more than once! I got the lychee soda. Perfectly sweetened, refreshing for a warm day. Cat bread is always a delight. Don't sleep on this one!
Cute Japanese bakery/cafe in the San Carlos, Belmont area. The space is cozy and intimate inside, with roughly 10 seats. Lots of Japanese bread and hot food items at great prices - we tried their yakisoba bun and it was delicious. Also tried their Japanese purin (pudding) and tasted very authentic as well. Definitely recommend swinging by to try their food for lunch or a snack! Reminds us of cafes back in Japan.
This is the cutest little spot and has delicious treats! The Anya drawing on the front drew me into the store where I met the two sweetest women who were very happy to help me and tell me what everything was! I ordered this custard bread and they gave me an amazing fruit macaron on the house! The macaron was both light and sweet, and the custard bread was the best I ever had!! It wasn't too sweet, and the custard was nice and thick inside soft bread. I will definitely stop by here again and recommend everyone try this at least once!
Happen to stop by after my haircut next store. Owners said it is good. Food was great. Fresh, tasty. Very good service. All ordering is automated. We had spam masubi and a pastry. Need to go back for the sandwiches.
This bakery serve real Japanese breads and foods. Service and atmosphere are nice and friendly. I highly recommend Houji-cha latte and Houji cha pudding, These guys are Super Tasty! Love it.
I really enjoyed this nice local bakery. The melon pan was excellent and so were our drinks and hot items. The prices are very reasonable and the staff gave us good recommendations.
What a fantastic café! The food is prepared fresh and taste great. Bakery items are authentic Japanese and some of the hot food is Japanese with a little bit of a California twist like a tonkatsu burrito and quesadilla. We tried one of everything from the tonkatsu menu and they were all fantastic. You do have to wait a little bit for your food, but this is understandable since everything is made to order. What a great little restaurant and we will be back to taste some more items
My favourite new breakfast place in Belmont, period. Wonderful small Japanese place with home-like atmosphere.

High quality bakery in Japanese style. We got melon pan and the sausage bun. The melon pan got stolen by my brother so I didn't get a chance to try lol. However, the sausage bun is good. The bread is light and fluffy, like Japanese bread supposed to be, and the sausage is high quality. Would love to try sando and drinks there next time.
I love this place. Great little Japanese bakery with all the classics you’d expect. I get lunch here sometimes too, which is also really good. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a Japanese cafe and bakery, one of the best I’ve found around the area.
Super cozy Japanese cafe, tasty and health food, homey ambience, friendly staff. It is my favorite Sunday lunch spot!

Sooo good! I got the beef curry and my gosh it was good best curry I’ve ever had, let alone one of the best things I’ve ever eaten in general!, the beef was soft and tender and cooked to perfection, The sauce was so delicious, And had a really delicious mild kick, the carrots were also really tender and soft They were juicy and melted in my mouth, even the rice was cooked really well, and did not clump together! I’ll definitely be coming back🤤 The people who work there were really nice and sweet, and the customer service was great! The curry made me feel at home and cozy café has beautiful pink wallpaper and lots of cat theme stuff with a homie and kawaii atmosphere! 10/10 please come here🙂
Cute little bakery with Japanese style soft breads. The matcha latte is delicious. Really friendly service. Looking forward to buying more things from this store.
It is remarkable that an authentic Japanese bakery exists in the Peninsula, let alone a quaint neighborhood between San Carlos and Belmont. Don't get me wrong - nothing wrong with this. Just that you might wonder whether the demand is there. Now imagine if your favorite friendly Japanese aunt had a hobby in baking. She's quite good. And she puts a smile on everyone's face whenever she serves bread. And one day, she decides she wants to try opening a bakery. Start small, sell it to those that's around her. I'm not sure what the backstory of Jiro's is but it absolutely feels this way. The breads here are nothing but love. You can "feel" the love and care they've put into it. Yes, they taste quite good. Not your top notch Michelin grade but also not a factory-style super sweet sales-optimized production. They are hearty. To judge any Japanese bakery, you must try its Melon-pan. It's the primary staple of any Japense establishment. The crust must be crisp yet gentle. The insides airy. The melon scent is the key. Jiro's does not nail this. I wished the bread was a bit more briochy and the crust didn't carry the melon scent well. Also, a hint of chocolate filling surprised me. It is definitely not your commerical "classical" recipe. But it worked. I enjoyed it. And now... the price. $4.50 for a Melon-pan is nearing the border of blasphemy. It is like charging $20 for a burger. However, this is what you should be wililng to pay to taste bread made with love. I'm so happy that Jiro's opened in San Carlos. Will absolutely return to try all of their menus.

We walked past this cafe bakery after our hike in the Belmont open space area. We had a good breakfast in the morning so we only wanted a small snack before our Valentine Day’s special dinner, so we ordered a crab musubi and a hot dog to share. The rice of the musubi was not as good as I had expected, and the overall musubi fell apart very easily so I was not too impressed by it. The hot dog was good, and the staff was very pleasant and courteous.
Extremely strange and confusing set up. After driving around to look for street parking, when I finally came into the place, I saw one staff completely busy with her own business - baking or something. I saw a kiosk for ordering next to the counter so I decided to help myself after making sure the one customer who stood right in the middle of the cafe did not need to use the kiosk. I asked that person if she was using the kiosk and she simply replied “I’m waiting” so I thought she was waiting for her order pick up. I then went to the kiosk and got called upon by the only staff who seemed so busy previously asking me not to cut in line?? I am sorry I would never have any motivation to cut in line at your place, this is not an attraction by the way, when you see situation like that, the only possibility is your customer is very confused. The staff/owner then asked that customer to try mobile app ordering instead, so I am guessing her “I’m waiting” meant waiting on a broken kiosk to finish a transaction maybe. How would I know. Throughout the process nobody cared to instruct me anything except for calling me not to “cut the line”. I would choose going to a standard restaurant where I don’t mind tipping and not be treated like thief or something.
