Been getting pizza here since the '70s. My favorite pizza. They always accommodate my requests-extra black olives, light anchovies... Always served or delivered extra hot. They use different cheese, not just white. The cheddar gives a unique flavor to the pizza. The kids that work there are super... most are local high school students who are sweet, honest, and hardworking. 591-6791- same phone number for like 40 years! :)

Your neighborhood pizzeria, down to earth, solid pricing. This is not a fancy pizzeria where you get thin crusts and esoteric toppings. This is your GO TO pizzeria for kids, parties with beer, and large gatherings. Spaghetti with meatballs is great. Salad is great. And a great selection of beer if you're going to eat in.

My wifes favorite pizza. She makes it a mandatory meal whenever we are in town. I agree it's really good but I'm not the biggest pizza lover. It's very similar to Jake's pizza. Always really friendly staff and pleasant experience getting our pies there

It was a Birthday Pizza Party for my daughter & everything turned out to be very excellent! I would definitely recommend Village Host to anyone! ♥️😊😊 But my daughter oldest Sister unexpectedly paid for everything, so i don't know what the cost was, she would not tell anyone the cost.

I haven't visited Village Host Pizza since I was a child, but I was randomly craving their combination pizza so I decided to order one for myself. It took about 30 minutes to prepare, and it smelled amazing as it was taken out of their oven. I had to eat a slice before I drove back home and it tasted exactly as I remembered. The crunchy crust and generous amount of toppings took me back as a kid again. The cheese is what makes the pizza though, they add just the right amount where it compliments the sausage and pepperoni. I absolutely love this place!

The Hawaiian pizza is also very delicious. The best part is the restaurants have multiple TVs to show sports events when I was enjoying my pizza.

How did I miss this place? I drive through this place every single day but somehow always thought the pizza here was not worth trying. I WAS WRONG! We ordered a medium pie with garlic and jalepenos and it was delicious. Cheezy, garlicky and with a pretty decent crust. The only thing that I was a bit disappointed with was that the cheese and toppings were only till an inch from the periphery which meant that was very dry. Well I deducted one star since I am a fan of the outer crust on the pizza (secret bread lover). Tip: They have some coupons online if want to be cheap!

The employees were really nice. We ordered 2 small salads and received 2 large salads at no additional price. We also received a free fountain drink. It's a nice place and very roomy

It was a decent place. Petite pizza I had was very good. It could have been a lot cleaner as it was not that busy and the tables needed to be cleared sooner and bathroom had paper towels and trash on the floor. Staff was nice and good customer service.

Love this place. Delicious pizza on a crispy crust. Hasn't changed in years, so it's a bit nostalgic for locals. Only downside is you'll get more bang for your buck at bigger chains.

Classic spot, This place feels homey and comforting. I'm so glad that they went back to using the original bread again, so toasty and soft.

Pizza size will seem small but perfect amount for my kids. I got a size medium about 10 slice. I have 3 kids and each had 2 slices and had some left over. My oldest is a picky eater and so happy he likes the pizza here. Good sauce, cooked perfectly.

Solid food. Service is okay. It's not bad, it's just not above and beyond but then again this is a family pizza place. It's not Benihana. Highly recommend the chilli and the pizza is top tier. It's cozy but sometimes noisy. Can't be helped when it's a great place to take your family for food pizza.

The food is decent, but the noise from the loud TV is overwhelming, I usually try to avoid this place. This and also wait times are completely crazy, even when this place is empty.

Wasn't upset i had to wait awhile for delivery because i figured it was busy so it must be worth it. Sadly i was wrong, i regret not going to my normal which is mr pizza guy. the food was less than average and for the price and i will not be back. Between the person taking orders on the phone almost seeming like he wanted to hang up on you with his attitude to everything else made this a bad experience.

We live nearby and finally gave it a try. Service is fine, interior ambience looks really inviting initially. There's a classic 80's table arcade machine (Pac-Man?). But the seat booths have the bouncy vinyl padding missing so it's really painful to sit at for any amount of time. Ok, fine - we could forgive that if pizza was worth taking home. It's not. We both got the small personal pizzas and I got the combo with everything on it. First, the crust was rock hard for the bottom 10 mm, like a cardboard base, with a slight rise of dough above that. Did someone fail to mix in yeast properly? Were these a frozen batch of bad crusts they pulled out due to some shortage? The place wasn't packed, I don't get it. It was like some sort of sailor hard-tack. Second, the ingredients weren't cooked enough for a combo pizza so it was all watery and loose, and the cheese had cheddar thrown on there. Why? This doesn't match or improve anything. The ingredients themselves were the most basic from-a-can vibe things possible, basic black olives, nothing distinct or of a quality remotely as good as your average Pizza Hut or Domino's. The sauce was so thinly applied that it didn't bring enough flavor to compliment the bland vegetables and the poorly cooked cheese. And the mozzarella? Waaaay too much, it was just a giant 15 mm cheese patty beneath everything, lightly colored by the ghost of a sauce that avoided most bites. California has a bad reputation with pizza, and this is why. The only reason I'd give it 2 stars is so people go here instead of the alternative that just popped up, which is so good that it's packed nonstop and I honestly have anxiety about it getting any more popular. I refuse to name it. It is the best. That being said - just get the Papa John's from over by the Molly Stone's, it's better than Village Host by miles and won't overcrowd my fav spot. Or just get some frozen pizza, you could do better with some Red Baron's or whatever. Really, there's not a worse place within 5 miles for fresh Pizza. There's a Mod Pizza over in Foster City - again waaaay better, and I don't even like that place. For the owners and managers - is this normal? When is the last time you compared your pizza to literally ANY alternatives? I know you're sick of pizza at this point, but step outside and at least do better than the frozen stuff at the Lunardi's next door. Sheesh.

The toppings were the only good part of my pizza. I could hardly even taste the top with the disgusting charcoal at the bottom of my pizza. I would not recommend going there especially with all of the germs going around it’s not worth it. I used to love this place when they actually made QUALITY pizza.

We have had their pizza many times and it is generally pretty good. However, our experience with their customer service recently left a lot to be desired. We ordered a pizza for takeout and when we got there they had given it to someone else. Had to wait while they cooked another one. When I was asked to pay for it, I asked if there would be any consideration for their mistake; the woman at the counter curtly said "no." Once I had the pizza I asked if there was a manager. This woman said "no, but I'm married to the owner." I again asked if they would offer anything to make up for the inconvenience caused by their error. She said "we don't do that." That's not a very good way to build customer loyalty. I would have been happy with 10% off - any token of concern for the inconvenience. Won't be going back there anytime soon.

The toppings, which had promised a symphony of flavors, were lost in the smoky cacophony of the overdone crust, their potential beauty overshadowed by the overwhelming bitterness of char.In the world of cooking, where the flame is both friend and foe, this was a battle lost. Yet, in every mistake, there's a lesson to be learned, a chance to rise from the ashes and come back stronger, with a renewed respect for the fire. To Village Host Pizza, I say this: Let this not be a defeat, but a call to arms. The great meals are still ahead, waiting to be discovered in the heat of your ovens. Let's chalk this up to a bad night, a fluke in the otherwise stellar journey of your voyage. I'll be back, in search of the pizza that I know you're capable of creating, the one that dances on the edge of the flame but never succumbs to it.

Delivery service didn't follow directions and left my food outside.

1 Star because I cant give Zero & they didn't even give me my pizza. Called to place an order for delivery and they told me it would arrive in about 45 minutes. 40 minutes later (5 minutes before the quoted delivery time) they called me back telling me that turns out that I'm outside their delivery area and that they wont deliver my pizza to me but the pizza is ready now if I want to come pick it up at the price I already paid (including delivery and tip.) I declined. The 3 issues with this entire interaction are as follows: 1.) Why didnt they let me know I was outside their delivery area when I gave them my address at initial order. 2.) Why did they wait 40 full minutes to call me back and let me know they couldn't deliver my order. 3.) How does it make any sense to offer to your customer to come pick up the order you previously agreed to deliver at the delivery price (delivery fee + tip included). That seems rather tone-deaf. To top it all off they didn't inspire much confidence when I declined their offer to pick it up myself and requested a refund. They simply said, it'll get refunded without any sort of ETA or confirmation on their part. I'm disappointed because I was looking forward to trying their pizza but the way they handle customer service has me thinking perhaps I didn't miss much.

Let me be honest California Pizza is bad in general. This is the worst I have ever had. I hate posting negative reviews, but my daughter pulled the cheese off the pizza to discard when cheese is there only part she usually likes. I can't understand how it was so very busy when I went in. Not just the pizza either. I needed Buffalo stops and what I got was sliced grilled chicken doused in hot sauce on a bed of lettuce. Weird and cold and not good. This place seemed like the chef had never had any if the items he put on the menu but had heard about them before.
