I've been going to Sam's since I was old enough to eat pizza! Don't know if it's nostalgia or what but love me some Sam's. Whole pie to go always tastes better. A few changes to Sam's since change of ownership but still great. Sauce used to be sweeter.

This is a Classic NYC pizza place. Seriously it’s a treasure. Big hot, cheesy, thick dough slices at a great price. Everything is just right - sauce, cheese, dough. There are very few places like this left in Manhattan. Do yourself a favor and make sure you come here! Get the plain slice - they are cooking fresh plain pies all day.

One of the best slices of pizza I have tried in NYC and prob one of the best spots in all of Harlem. This is an iconic pizza joint that has been serving many a slice for countless generations of locals and tourists alike. It is said that the spirit of Sam still haunts the place.

Stopped by at 9pm on a Friday night when I was still hungry after walking around NYC for the day. Busy intersection across from the Subway Green 6 line. Open window facing the street. A few counter places to sit next to the window. Excellent value for $4.25 a slice for a bacon covered cheesy fresh masterpiece. Sam’s “Famous” Pizza deserves its middle name. If you want it spicy, add some peppers. Personally, i wouldn’t mess with it. Appears to be a neighborhood treasure, not the place for quiet sit-down meal, but the place to go when you need a quick bite to satisfy hunger and the taste buds.

I've been here to Sams twice now in this month, after telling myself I'd not go to same pizza place twice. But the pizza (regular slice or sausage) is so delicious; plenty of cheese. Good location, good customer service!

Old school New York Style Pizza. Perfect balance of doe, sauce, cheese and meat. A little oily just like when you ordered a slice as a kid and price is cheap. Good place to order from for large families.

A slice of both pizza and a New York gone by. Countermen somehow have as much tang as the tomato sauce but are also as friendly. You sit at the counter and watch East Harlem parade in front of you while the subway rumbles under your feet. Steel oven pizza in all its glory. Knots soft and chewy conveyances for garlic tumbling off. Ask for some extra red sauce for dipping -- truly sublime.

The plain slice is really good, sauce had nice taste and consistency. The margarita was less flavorful but I would Def grab a quick slice again here. They had a yummy looking chicken and bacon slice I would try. Service was quick and efficient but place is very hot, take to go on a nice day.

The place was no frills. You had to eat up against the window, but the pizza slice I was served.was amazing. I don’t know why everybody isn't raving more about this place. Cheese slices are 3 bucks, meaty options are 6+, but it is huge slices and loaded with meat anf cheese. Got the chicken bacon ranch - good chicken bits, very well seasoned. They toast it before handing it to you where you can add some salt n pepper or seasoning to taste. Very iconic late night food. Limited seats inside.

Basically, everyone knows that New York City has the best pizza and that’s because of the water. I have had many pizzas around New York City and they’re all great. However, I decided to try this one out and it’s actually awesome. I have to preface all this because my father was a chef at some of the top Italian restaurants here in New York City, and my beloved is a Mi Michelin Star trained chef in French and Italian cuisine and actually had her own Italian restaurant up in Provincetown for 20 years, so I have a sense of what taste when you say something tastes good. We ordered two pies, one more difficult than the next I believe. The first. Fresh Mozzarella Pizza with basil with fresh mozzarella cheese. It had a thin crust, and yet perfect to the bite. Then I asked for Supreme Deluxe Pie which is with mushrooms, pepperoni, sausage, peppers, onions and olives. I requested that after the pie comes out for them to put an extra layer of cheese, and have it melt by itself. This pie is hard to do because you have many different textures from the onions, the green peppers, the olives and the thin, sliced sausage and pepperoni. Then when you add the two layers of cheese with a thin sauce and becomes amazing and perfect. This is why I consider this pizza place, not just great but completely awesome. We will definitely be going back to them again and again.

Yesterday sept 2019...I got off wrong block while going go a fish fried place..as I came upon flicking my phone trying to find my way .I turn around there's a at home feel as I look threw the big window of Sam famous pizzeria ..nice a guy is serving person after person 3 times he says can I help u ..next!! I'm looking around saying to self who is he talking to .I'm not in line so I walk steps closer ..OK..he has pulled me ..I say how much he tells me..3. Something I said to self well it must b good and I see others in the neighborhood digging for change .so I get it..then mouth meets slice....and it was s big wide slide .this pizza was good they even let u use parmigia cheese.. Now u no people hide the cheese... Knooow..there for ever one to use....nice..pizza very very nice good..sauce cheese ..yummm..I will b back .....if u ever watch do the right thing.. Or a cute Italian scene were guys sit out at .. A and people just come out from there buildings apt. Spanish black white Cuban. All class of people...I think this is were all races could get along if not long term how bout over a slice and cold drink ..make that 2 slices for peace please...

It's pizza, which is good, but it's not particularly impressive. Overall taste was a bit flat, and both crunchy and tough at the same time. Given the price, consistency, and location I can't recommend eating here unless you're too hungry to go on.

The pizza is great. The customer service is appalling. I ordered pizza for delivery and they stated it would be here by one but they would try to get it here before one. 1:30 I called trying to figure out what is going on and they said they said it would be around 2 now. I said why didn't you call and inform. It's common courtesy. I told them if its not here by two to cancel it. I called back at 2:01 and they said that someone called and canceled the order. I said I called and stated if it can't be here by 2 to cancel it. Now they are saying 10-15 mins, let's see. I have ate their pizza for years but never got delivery. I now never will. If you can't call and let the customer know it's going to be later than the time, then that's a problem. I'm working and have limited time to take lunch. This is not okay.

True Review: Decent place with a bit of personality depending on who is in the kitchen its a bit pricey. But still good quality is reheated pizza, not the same as fresh. I found out what sam's pizza is famous for - 1 reg slice, 1 chic & broc, no drink, $9.50 - being too expensive and mediocre pizza.

The pizza is ok but not incredible. The real issues are customer service and cleanliness. They don't know how to manage their line and its total chaos. The interior generally just seems like it hasn't been cleaned and a guy coughed phlem on me. Which isnt Sams fault necessarily but still not a great dining experience.

Not great. Food was below average, plus I waited a while for a barely warm slice, then the cashier spends ages trying to upsell me. Have to jump over ebikes to get in the door.

Their pizza is the best I give it 5 stars, I wouldn't buy anywhere else.. However I give them 2 overall because, they have beef patty on their menu and everytime I order it I receive it burnt. I've tried the Gyro and it was very salty. Not sure what that's about but it seems like the pizza is really all that's good there. Then again it is a "pizza shop"

I just brought a chicken Parmesan and the chicken isn't even breaded cutlet it tastes like 99cent store Tysons chicken Sam's is a famous pizzarea but the famous days are long gone Milano is way better

I don’t usually write reviews but I felt the need to express my concerns with this place. I’ve been coming to this place since I was a child (1995) it’s sad that I will never go back because of the new service and workers who work during the day. The workers are unresponsive at times and are very unorganized and seem to have an issue with taking orders. I came in to order 1 slice with my daughter and no one would take my order instead they avoid us after 10m we left. This has happen to me about 4 times in the last month an at this point and I will no longer support a business that doesn’t value good customer service it’s truly a huge disappointment. I will say the pizza is the best pizza in Harlem but that means nothing when the service is bad. Wish them the best of luck.

I love eating from Sams the pizza is amazing oily but still good. The only complaint I have is the staff, they are never on the same page. All give of them behind that small counter and they all asked me if I was taken care of while I was waiting on my food. The first or second time is ok but everyone asked me. I ordered a beef Patti with cheese and coco bread, I was going on a long journey as asked if he could wrap it up with an extra piece of foil. Do you know what this man told me, that it would be am extra 50 cents, I was shocked honestly I understand every penny counts but i just wanted to assure that my food wouldn't get cold. The man behind the counter said the boss makes everyone pay for everything, he even chargers extra for pizza sauce and napkins. They need better service honestly

Since when did Grubhub start taking call orders for places? Worst decision ever. Got my simple order wrong and overcharged. Put a 50% tip instead of a 15%. From now on they get 0. I think it’s very important to understand that when people are spending their hard earned money in an established, kindness goes a long way. I asked for a chicken slice Extra hot, crispy. They took it out and it was just warm. When I asked for them to put it back into the oven, they looked at me as if I had three heads. I had to ask the cashier “Are you okay today?” He replied “yeah” and I let him know he seemed very upset. His response was “it’s hot”. That does not justify the attitude of three employees. The pizza was a soupy mess. There was way too much cheese and the crust was soft and limp. Underbaked (perhaps the oven is not hot enough and/or they didn't cook it for long enough). When I was handed the pizza box it felt way too heavy. This is supposed to be thin crust, crunchy pizza. When I called to politely explain to the store, they blamed the driver and ignored what I had just said. Multiple times. The driver can't be blamed for it being undercooked with too much cheese. So in summery the pizza is terrible and the employees don't want to hear clear constructive feedback.
