Super cozy cafe. Great coffee and food!
The coffee and food is always delicious!
Really good food, drinks, everything, decent wait time, and there's always good music on. And it looks very nice and clean. I love how this place is right down town very convenient 🙌
One of the best coffee places I’ve been to
Great plant-based options!! Pricey, but places like this tend to be very expensive - in comparison to similar eateries, this place is actually pretty reasonable. The portion sizes are also very good. The espresso drinks are excellent. The staff is really personable and nice. Just a really good vibe overall. If I had to vote for one thing, it would be a greasier, more traditional home-fry or hash brown option as an alternative to potato option on offer (the potatoes were very very good though and I wouldn’t want to see that option disappear from the menu).
Very cute coffee/breakfast place in downtown Binghamton. Very friendly staff, great homemade pastries, and a cool vibe. Been there twice and will go again when we return.
This place hits the spot every single time. Hashtag is the ultimate hangover elixir (mushroom omelette is delicious as well). Dirty chai is out of this world. Don’t know what I’d do without this place.
SO happy to find that they not only have several 100% Vegan menu items without having to special order, but each tofu scramble we got was super delicious! Got the Spanish and the mushroom scrambles, and a vanilla Oat milk latte. Service was excellent! Order at the counter and they bring your food to your table, even outdoor, unexpected and nice surprise. Experienced a minor mishap with our order initially (ordered a tortilla on the side to wrap up part of our scrambles to-go on our road trip, but later told they can't accommodate), and the manager addressed very kindly and comped us a Vegan pastry. Atmosphere is cool, decent amount of seating for a small place, outdoor as well. Will definitely be back next time in town, and highly recommend!
This place was INCREDIBLE! I ordered a turkey brie sandwich and a turkey club as well. From the first bite to each of them, I fell in love. The food was just delectable. The atmosphere was perfect for a coffee shop/restaurant and the service was quick! Honestly, I’d give a 10/10 but I have to knock it to an 8.5 because there was literally only one slice of turkey :/ for a sandwich at 11$ i would want just a little bit more turkey. Other than that, the place is great! And it’s a local business ☺️
My wife & I ordered breakfast from here online while driving through on our way back home to Ohio from our vacation in Maine. My wife picked it based on the menu and good reviews. I ordered a grilled cheese Mac & Cheese (meat lovers) and my wife got the hashtag breakfast sandwich. We both thought the hashtag sandwich was the best as the garlic aioli sauce was really good. The order was supposed to be ready at 12:15 but I had to wait until 12:30 but the restaurant was absolutely slammed… probably because their food is so good. A lot of people were ordering coffee so I can only assume it’s good. We were very happy with our meal, the sandwiches were very tasty and both were so generous in size we could only eat half and could not eat another else until we got home to Ohio.
Absolutely love this place. They make one of my favorite combos, the 21-22 latte I absolutely recommend. Great people, great employees and a great manager.
We stayed at the DoubleTree close to the Stange Brew Cafe. Ordered some sandwiches and coffee for delivery. It was so quick. We got the BLT on an everything bagel and california club and some coffee. Everything was delicious. We will be going back before we leave the area!
Love coming here to study super student friendly!
Love coming here for the Brooklyn or Hashtag Breakfast Sandwich and a 21-22 Latte and especially when it’s all decked out for the Christmas season! Can’t go wrong here and they have vegan options too.
I was unexpectedly looking for somewhere downtown to grab a cup of coffee this morning. i absolutely found the right place!! I had a regular light roast coffee with cream and sugar and it was seriously one of the best cups of coffee I have had in a long time! I talked about it all day. The service was exceptional. The blueberry coffee cake was delicious. I can’t wait to come back!!
Adorable and attentive staff. Great coffee/espresso (I had a phenomenal dirty chai). We also had a Brooklyn bagel and a grilled Mac n cheese! Both great! The limited menu means the food is consistent and tasty!
Great local coffee shop! Quality drinks! Delicious sandwiches! You can flavor your drinks but I would recommend their americano! Really good espresso flavored drink! The atmosphere is also great to meet with someone or work on something as long as you bring headphones when its busy.
We stopped here for a quick bite to eat and it far exceeded my expectations! Everything tasted amazing, the bagel and breads were toasted just right! The mac and cheese grilled sandwich? Definitely worth a try. The coffee was also very tasty and the service was great. Friendly staff and clean bathroom. Overall great place to check out and would eat here again if in the area!
The best coffee! Their tofu scramble is my favorite ever.
My weekend go to for a perfect egg and cheese bagel sandwich!
Good coffee and great pastries! Conveniently located right across from us too! Great location!
Great cafe and breakfast spot in downtown Binghamton! The Americano was perfect and the breakfast sandwiches on their house made bread could not have been better! 10/10 would recommend
I love the salads here, so I decided to try delivery. It was absolutely perfect, delivered early, everything was wrapped and packaged so nothing spilled. Even my chai latte was still warm. Thank you!
The have one of the best scones I’ve ever had, it was so good!
I love this place, so fun and inviting. My favorite plae to study downtown
Nice and cozy coffee shop with a decent food menu. Highly recommended!
I love this place, it's also my brother's favorite place, every time he is in town he will ask to have breakfast here if possible every day! They breakfast sandwiches are delicious and big, and coffee is bitter and rich like it should be. Indulge your sweet tooth. The banana bread is my brother's favorite ♡
I have to leave a 5 star review because the BLT everything bagel with garlic aioli is the best thing I have literally ever tasted at any point ever. The place looked amazing and all the winter-y decorations gave it a very nice atmosphere. A british(?) woman whose name I don't know took my order and was also very nice. Would 100% come again, that sandwich literally changed my life.
Coffee, breakfast, lunch, or the most perfect chocolate hazelnut croissant, Strange is the place to go. If you live or work in downtown Bing and this isn’t a weekly stop you ain’t living
CAUTION: Strange Brew Inside!! Contents may be Hot and Incredibly Delicious. I’ve been vibing with Strange Brew for years now. With such Great Coffee, Baked Morning Delights, and just a straight up Dope Ambiance: they are my Go-To for real coffee in the Downtown Binghamton area. (Please open one on the South Side. BEST SIDE!! I’ve got some ideas. HMU.) This morning I was feeling some of that Strange Brew. One of those extra frothy Quad Shot Cappuccinos that I love so much. The weather itself, so pleasant, that I found myself with a desire to squeeze in a ride as well. So how then may we enjoy said Strange Brew, fresh as made, from the comfort of our own studio. CORKSICKLE is the answer!! When presented with the challenge to fit a Cappuccino with Extra Froth into so narrow of an opening, a most Beautiful Barista was happy to oblige in accepting such a task. And rather tasking, I could imagine, it must have been. For when I heard the angelic voice call out “Matt,” followed with a “I was able to get as much dry foam in there as I could,” I was presented with a perfectly poured Cappuccino, inside of yes, an insulated Corksicle. Thank you!! And yes, I was able to retain the foam as I made my way back to the South Side. Proof is in the pics. #SAVEtheBing #iLOVEtheBing #getfitbing #ExploreBinghamton #BikeTheBing
This is a very popular place with the college folk. They have an exceptionally diverse menu for food having a brunch like feel to it. The coffee was good and service was very quick. They take cash, cards, and electronic payments which is exceedingly convenient. They also have wi-fi and apparently they allow people to study there. Seating is highly limited so get there early or be fast when a seat opens.
I don't know why it's taken me this long to come here. Parking may be challenging all depending on the time of day. But there is lots to see and do downtown along the way. The staff get you with a smile. The menu is for everyone. The price, quality of freshness in the food and the amount given I hope no one complains. Grab a seat, enjoy the music, show down for a bit. Or take your food outside and enjoy the fresh air. Plenty of options.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Strange Brew is exactly what the name promises—in the best way possible. Quirky, cozy, and buzzing with good energy, it’s the kind of coffee shop where you walk in for a latte and suddenly feel like you’re part of a secret club of caffeine enthusiasts. The drinks are creative (they’re not afraid to get weird—in a delicious way), and the food hits the spot every time. Plus, the vibe is artsy without trying too hard—think eclectic décor, good music, and baristas who somehow know when you need that extra shot of espresso. Easily one of the most fun hangout spots in Binghamton.
I've only ever gotten food to go so atmosphere I do not have good knowledge on BUT the food is AMAZING! Especially since I have to have gluten free, they are wonderful!
Very friendly and helpful staff. I wasn’t sure what to order and they recommended the build your own sandwich. It was delicious! Place was clean and had a nice ambiance. Liked the diversity of people when I visited too. Try the chai latte! Don’t bother going to Craft next door.
Great place to study and grab a drink/pastry. they have this oreo cream thing that is unlike anything ive ever tasted (one of their vegan options!). sometimes gets crowded
I’ve been a loyal patron of this establishment since 2016, and I can confidently say that I have never had a bad experience. While I tend to stick to my favorites, my culinary expertise allows me to appreciate the artistry behind their dishes. The presentation is simply superb, and the enticing counter display is a feast for the eyes that always leaves me craving more. What truly impresses me is their unwavering consistency; it's a joy to witness their growth over the years. Alex and Amelia, along with their family, have cultivated a remarkable dining experience that inspires not only me but also countless others. Their dedication to quality and innovation shines through in every detail. I wholeheartedly encourage anyone who hasn’t had the pleasure of dining here to pay a visit. Trust me, you’ll be amazed! Let’s continue to support this incredible family and their endeavor. Sending my appreciation and prayers for continued success—keep up the outstanding work!
Truly a place of kindness and warmth. A place where the baristas know your name and greet you with a smile even when it’s busy. I love coming here during the week and on the weekends and the drinks are always great and the food is amazing. The drinks of the week are always spot on and I love how creative they are for the holidays. Always a staple and will always come back!
WOW. I’m very particular about coffee and pretty hard to please but everything about Strange Brew Cafe hit the spot! The barista/cashier was so friendly, helpful in recommendations, my latte was delicious (so glad I went with a large!), and my very picky teen and I enjoyed what we dubbed the best breakfast sandwiches we’ve ever had (he had the Brooklyn & I had the Garden). We also tried a couple of pastries, also amazing. No pictures because we devoured everything while I drove (warning: a bit messy, dine in if you can’t wait) but we wish we lived closer than an hour & a half away - though maybe it’s best we don’t!
Strange Brew has been my favorite spot since they opened up. The food is always delicious, the drinks are made to order, to perfection. The owners and staff are welcoming and treat me like family. I can't imagine going anywhere else for a quick breakfast lunch or drink.
Strange Brew is a spot we frequent often. The staff is always so welcoming and quick! The food is fresh, tastes great, and they accommodate dietary restrictions.
I’m going to be very blunt. THIS WAS THE BEST BREAKFAST SAMMIE IVE EVER HAD!!! We ordered from the hospital and of course I messed it up and said pick up. I called the shop and asked if they could help without any issue they did! Called me when they were here and it was still warm! Seriously! Will be coming again!!! And ordering every time I’m working! Thank you so much! Keep up the great work!!!
The best coffee shop in town! You can sip your delicious coffee while watching the historic downtown street. The staff is very smiling and friendly, and the place has a beautiful design. The owners are also very helpful, and the prices are quite reasonable. The cakes are also incredibly tasty! The owners are incredibly helpful and honest. We forgot our bag there yesterday, and before we even noticed it was gone, they tracked us down on Facebook to let us know. It’s a very safe and trustworthy business. We are so thankful to them!
We drive from Elmira once or twice a month to go to Strange Brew! Our biggest decision is do we want to go for breakfast or lunch! Menu items are great for both 😊. Service is always pleasant and atmosphere is enjoyable. Sometimes seating can be challenging (busy place). In warmer weather you have the option of outside seating! Definitely worth the driveway
Strange Brew is my absolute favorite place to grab coffee. The quality of their espresso is amazing and the lattes are so smooth they taste phenomenal. I love all of their seasonal flavored lattes, especially the banana bread one. I can't speak on the food as much because I only really come for the coffee, but the pastries I've had are also really good. Cannot recommend this place enough if you are looking for a really good quality coffee. The staff and atmosphere are also great! (Commenting to enter the giveaway)
Glad I found this place! Strange Brew Cafe is conveniently located in Binghamton. I wasn’t disappointed at all. The breakfast sandwich (Hashtag) was amazing! I picked up a box of coffee cakes for my team and they loved it. The matcha latte was creamy and delicious. I’d visit again whenever I’m in the area.
The food here is delicious! So much variety and it’s all so consistently good. They have baked goods but also sandwiches and other savory items. The coffee and drinks are delicious as well. They have some creative specialty beverages that are fun to try, and the best part is the enthusiasm of the staff when you try their creation! It can get crowded on the weekend mornings - it is fairly small inside, no bathroom, and there is not too much seating. However, the tables usually turn over quickly so something usually pops up. Best for groups of 2 or 3 people, but I have been here with larger groups of 4-6 as well. If you have a larger group it’s better to get there earlier. Overall, love this place, great bustling vibe, and it has always been worth the visit!
I’ve been coming here almost every Monday since my sophomore year of high school (I’m a junior now) they have been so nice every single time, my order of a large vanilla bubble tea with a green tea base, vanilla, tapioca, and light ice (and sometimes the almond croissant) always make me so delighted and always make me feel so much whimsy and joy with my life. The drinks 10/10, the food 10/10, the staff 10/10. The reason why the food and drinks taste so good is because they put love into it! If anyone wants to try food or drinks in the area i recommend this place!
My partner and I went here for breakfast on a beautiful Sunday morning around 9. It was a little busy, but there were tables available still for seating. I have a gluten allergy and the barista took my order and answered all my questions! I got the egg white omelet with a side salad. (The potato side has gluten) It was absolutely delicious and made with a chef’s kiss. The presentation blew me away! I wish I got a photo of our meals for our review but we had to dig in immediately. And the ingredients were fresh! I wanted to sit there all day, sip my coffee and order more food for lunch time. The bakery section looked phenomenal. We got 2 gluten free pastries items to go. Everyone was super friendly. The only thing that upset me was that 2 customers there brought in coffee from another place, 7brew?! How rude of those customers. They did order food from Strange brew. But how weird… who brings coffee from another establishment to a place that sells way better coffee. Next time I will try a sandwich and sub the bread with a gluten free wrap. I love you, Strange Brew.
Our agency recently was provided a very large catering order from Strange Brew- and we could not have been more pleased with the outcome. The ordering was done via email and was so easy. They were able to make adjustments to suit our Gluten Free needs. The payment and delivery were also very easy. Their staff showed up on time, set up, and ensured we had everything we needed. They were so kind and professional through the entire process. Our guests loved the fresh food and hot coffee. We even had a self described "coffee snob" say this was the best conference coffee ever. We felt Strang Brew respected everything we asked for and exceeded expectations. Thank you, Strange Brew!
Today was just my second day at Strange Brew on Washington Street, Binghamton, NY … and the Barista, Sasha knew my order from yesterday … that was really amazing to me … one of the owners, Alex made my 5oz Espresso with Steamed Whole Milk in a 16oz cup … it was perfect … just like yesterday … the Chocolate Croissant was really good too … I highly recommend this delightful cafe … I will be a regular here since I charge my Jeep next door … LIVE LOVE LAUGH & EAT ALWAYS … 💙🇮🇱💙
Everything about this place is amazing. From the vibe, the food, kind staff, and great coffee. I went here for lunch for the first time and was blown away by how good the food was! I got their Pulled Chicken pressed sandwich on their asiago house bread with Chicken Corn Chowder. WOW, absolutely fantastic, seriously best sandwich I've had in the area, and the soup was incredible. I also got an Iced Latte which was great! I'll definitely be back, especially for their delicious looking breakfast!!!
My husband and I were very happy to find this restaurant with vegan options on our travels. I love that they have multiple vegan scramble options. My husband got the cheesy tofu scramble and added avocado. I got the mushroom tofu scramble and added jalapeños. Everything was hot, tasty and well prepared. The immunity juice is really nice as well.
A bit pricey for a coffee shop IMO, but they are only the second coffee shop I have ever been to who know how to make hot chocolate that doesn’t taste like dirty water. Everything made fresh and staff was so great to interact with.
The coffee was great! Food was OK, the cheese in my omelet was cold and not melted. But the baked goods were awesome. A little pricy for coffee and breakfast overall.
While I’m not a fan of if the iced coffee, the espresso drinks and food are very good some things can be pricey for for a treat now and then it’s worth it!
Coffee was amazing, Service and the staff all were super nice, Only downside i had was the buffalo mac and cheese, The flavor was alright nothing amazing but after careful dissecting the bowl i only found about 3 tiny strains of chicken, Not sure if i just got unlucky with the scooping, but otherwise it was a good visit just from how good the drink was alone and i will be coming again and trying different food items next time,
I enjoyed the egg white omelette with crispy potatoes, tomato, and lettuce. The seating was quite nice. I sat at a window looking out to a view of the morning sky. I found the place relaxing and cozy, and while I do not have a good eye for aesthetics, I enjoyed what I could sense and take in.
It was a cute, little, modern day self serve bistro. Its what you image a coffee shop should be. Food was good and came out fast. Not a lot of seating for big groups.
I don’t quite get how it got its name. The only thing that may be considered strange would be one wall of decals. I think a more fitting name would be something to do with how good their drinks are. I ordered a vanilla bean frappe and I think it was the best one I have ever had! They also have a huge variety of flavor options for their drinks. It was quite impressive. Their food menu had a lot of options. A Mac’n cheese grilled cheese isn’t something I’ve seen on a menu anywhere else. The prices of the food were too steep for me unfortunately so I can’t say how any of that tastes. The display case of cookies and muffins etc. sure looked inviting though. The sitting area is pretty and most seats were filled it’s definitely a popular place.
A cool place to drink coffee—I’ve been there many times since it was close to my dorm. The coffee and desserts are pretty decent. However, the elderflower latte was one of the worst mistakes I’ve ever made.
The cafe is conveniently located in a business/shopping area. There are pay to park lines ($1 for an hour) in front of the cafe, making it easy to make a stop. Clean and shaded outdoor seating and spacious indoor dining. The service was great and staff friendly. But the beverage we ordered was just okay to my liking. The actual offering is not as diverse as shown in the menu. Many items were not available. Overall, it was a pleasant experience
I want to love this place been back a few times with a mix of online ordering and in person. On mist occasions I waited at least 2-3 minutes in a store that was not busy to be acknowledged. On two occasions, I stood there, because I didn't know where to order, and the store associate did not acknowledge me, but when someone else came in the store, they immediately acknowledged them. When I ordered online on two occasions, I stood there for at least two minutes before I had to say, I was waiting for a drink. It's not a big deal because the coffee is good. The ambience is good but it's not nice to go on multiple occasions and feel like you are a part of the furniture. I personally will not be going back, which is sad because I'm looking for a local coffeehouse to be a regular. Maybe I'll go back in the future it could've just been those workers but I feel like it was someone higher up on one occasion. Coffee is not a big deal in the grand scheme of the world. However, when you're spending your hard earned money on your way to work early in the morning, you don't want to stand at the counter and feel invisible. And having conversations with my other friends, who share Physical similarities they have experienced the same thing.
The amount in which prices have changed is unsettling, I have been a customer for years since Strange Brew first opened and often walk by & will get coffee/ food, I often meet friends here for lunch. Strange Brew has always been delicious, often full of vibrant and upbeat customers/ staff, and is a cozy nook that downtown Binghamton needs. Although, the last few times that I have been in, a sandwich and a simple coffee order has been almost $20 or sometimes even more. Prices would make sense if the menu was much different.
We each ordered an omelet (with side potatoes included), bagel /toast (not included)and a drink. The toast was $2 extra. When I asked for jelly to go on the toast I was told it is another extra charge. Who charges for a little container of jelly?? We have traveled around the world and across the US. I have never encountered being charged for jam to go with the toast you've purchased! Can't recommend this place.
I visited this coffee shop and ordered an espresso. I was surprised to see the barista use her bare finger to level the coffee grounds before making the espresso. When we politely mentioned that this might not be hygienic, she responded that “this is how we make coffee here.” While I appreciate the effort to prepare the drink, I believe basic hygiene practices are important. I hope the management considers improving this aspect. Unfortunately, this experience left me uncomfortable, and I’m not sure I’d return.
NOT worth $53: Weak coffee, odd-flavoured boba tea, and outrageously expensive sandwiches that have a rancid oil aftertaste and contain barely any meat. Stay away from the Grilled Mac and Cheese. The mix of cheeses tasted odd, and the pasta was overcooked, making each bite into the grilled sandwich an unpleasant experience. Last but not least, the dining area has large window without filters so the sun will cook you. Yes, it was 5 °C outside, but it felt like it was over 30 °C - and that was two seating tables away from the window. If you enjoy having breakfast naked, come to the Strange Brew Cafe! The staff was friendly, though.
Incredibly rude staff. Coffee isn't that good either. The worker was literally trying to argue with me. I just want coffee, I don't want to argue with workers. Only redeeming factor is the cute atmosphere of the cafe. Other than that, the staff don't great customers, are rude, and overall create an unwelcoming environment.
If you have a spare 2 hours in the morning get your cofffee here. Baristas ARE SLOW. Coffee is average. Food is okay. They are too slow it’s not worth coming here anymore. Why does the food always come out before the coffee??? The layout of this place is also horrible. I mean the legit person who designed the space is the worst engineer. Customers just run into each other and stand awkwardly as your kitchen staff try and squeeze through. It’s a horrible coffee shop.
Ordered a pulled chicken sandwich and half only had a very small piece of chicken on it. It didn't even cover 1/4 of the bread.. ordered mac and cheese, I small carrot cake muffin, and 2 drinks...$43 later...not worth the price at all
Had a really horrible experience with Strange Brew after several years of going there occasionally for coffee and a dessert or a breakfast sandwich alone or with my husband and son. Ordered a Chef Special Salad. Description is “arugula, roasted beets, goat cheese, sliced almonds, dried cranberries, roasted pulled chicken, mustard tarragon dressing “ for $12 (an entree salad per the manager). There was a ton of arugula but very, very little of everything else — see photos. I was shocked when I saw this and immediately called them. I had already used my lunch break to pick up the salad so couldn’t go back to return it. The manager had me take photos and email them twice, talked twice on the phone, and then said the other ingredients only looked sparse because I had mixed up the salad. The side photo clearly shows little mixed below the surface. Why make me go to this effort and then insult me by suggesting I was hiding the ingredients. Manager offered to bring me a new salad but if he thinks the original is acceptable, then we’re back where we started. Plus it’s getting late and I don’t have any more time. I did the right thing by calling immediately and sending photos. That should have been the end of it with the charge being reversed on the unacceptable item, apology made, and asking me to come back to try them again sometime, or some normal response like that. Instead, he starts being subtly insulting and trying to negotiate half off since it’s like a side salad — but I didn’t order a side salad, it’s supposed to be an entree salad! I didn’t get what I paid for, end of story. This is 100% unsatisfactory. Beware of buying food there if this is how it can be, a rip-off. And you will be treated badly by the management to boot. Just read a few other reviews that were negative and the manager or owner gives a long defensive response, citing industry standards and supporting small businesses for why the complaint isn’t legit, even insulting another reviewer. The bottom line here is that a customer found their experience to be unsatisfactory, was asked to prove it by providing photos, was still not believed, a lot of time was wasted along the way, and the customer service experience was very negative. This is not the way it should go.
