Came for dinner for my Daughters birthday. Excellent food and great service popular even on a Monday evening! Crispy duck was delicious and the Birthday ice cream was a lovely surprise

We accidentally walked pass this restaurant. The food is superb and so their service. Must be the best Chinese food so far for this year UK trip. Will come back again.

Our waitress Vivian and the rest of the staff were fun and attentive. We didn’t even need to pour our own beer. The dishes were on the little more expensive side for Chinese food but the service makes up for it.

Best Chinese Restaurant after a long time in UK that suits Indian taste buds. Good 1. Very pleased with service 2. Cleanliness 3. Portion of food 4. Value for money 5. Most importantly, super quick service 6. Variety of options/ Dishes Certainly we will visit again, whenever we would get a chance to plan for Brighton trip.

Went for my father's birthday. They made it very special. The service and food were honestly incredible. What a fantastic restaurant. Highly recommend.

Great location by the seafront, good food and nice ambience. Staff is warm, helpful and efficient. There is enough seating, and the toilets are very clean. The food itself was delicious, good portions and spice was just right. Prices are reasonable for the location and good value for the quality. Was nice to the staff still maintains COVID precautions

Visited here on a Saturday evening. Staff were wonderful and friendly, however service was quite slow. There is no flaw about the food, it was so delicious and flavoursome. I would definitely recommend.

This Chinese restaurant has been one of the best since I moved here four years ago. The food is absolutely delicious and the service is top-notch. However, I must admit that it is a bit on the pricey side.

Brilliant food and service! Food came out quickly, lots to choose from on the menu. Staff were friendly, definitely recommend going!

The most shocking thing about this restaurant is how fast the food arrived. I went here as part of a 5-person group and we all ordered a main and a side. We expected to wait more than the 5-10 minutes it actually took the food to arrive. The portion sizes can be bigger than you'd expect, as some of the bowls/plates are deeper than you might think. The prices are slightly above average, but they match the quality of the food. The staff were super friendly as well.

This is probably the best Dim Sum experience we have had and overall best eat in Brighton. The service was attentive, staff work very hard and the place is airy and clean. Dim Sum served from 12pm - 4pm everyday. The Dim Sum portions are great for price and seating is plentiful. Food comes out piping hot. The tea was also filled to the brim and hot. Must try fried turnip paste and prawn cheung fun. Overall highly recommended.

This restaurant is easily one of my favourite for dim sum and general chinese food. Was with a party of 5 and every one of us was impressed by the quality of food. Everything was quick to come too. Great experience and will be returning!

Still my favourite Chinese restaurant in the UK. The service here is top tier. The food is sumptuous and tastes fresh. Like it is cooked to order every time. Massive fan of the peking duck and the kung po prawn. But you can’t really go wrong with anything they serve. Will 100% go again. It’s exceptional.

Perfectly cooked food, extremely quick and attentive service. Very good portion sizes, and an overall great experience. Highly recommend eating here if you’re looking for a good, hearty, Cantonese restaurant.

Highly recommend!! The food tasted amazing almost as if I was levitating. Staff were friendly and the food came out quite quick despite it being packed. I’m not quite sure what else to say other than it was amazing authentic food. I’ve been multiple times and it’s just as good every time. Well done!!

Very happy with our experience, we walked in on pride weekend, had a live piano playing, the food is really good - especially the sharing starter, we were so pleasantly surprised by the variety and good taste. Service was really great also, a gentleman dropped his phone and staff member picked it up before he even noticed, super attentive. Lovely atmosphere, for a group of friends, family or romantic dates.

We had the most amazing time at China Garden with a warm and welcoming service from the get go. They even went the extra mile to get a vase for my flowers. We enjoyed both the veg and non veg sharing platters which were bursting with flavour and we were particularly impressed by the crispy seaweed and ribs. We had a selection of special rice and noodles which were fantastic on their own but complemented the meat dishes very well too. The crispy pork was cooked to perfection. The beef and black bean sauce melted into your mouth. The sweet and sour chicken was one of our favourites with an excellent balance of flavours. We were served tea throughout the meal which was delicious and allowed us to better digest our food and enjoy each bite. A must visit spot when in Brighton!

I went with my family to China Garden for the first time ever, after being recommended this place by a number of people. I was not disappointed at all!! The food certainly lived up to the expectations, especially the crispy and tender Cantonese duck which they specialise in. The atmosphere was also welcoming and friendly- shout out to Kelly and the rest of the staff for the lovely service. Will definitely be coming back again 10/10!

We popped in here on a Friday night with no reservation not expecting to get in, but managed to grab a table and we had a great time. It was super busy, but we sat and waited for maybe 5 mins before they took us over to a table by the window. Great atmosphere, enjoyed the live pianist! Service was quick despite how busy it was and the staff were friendly, fun and keeping us laughing. Great food, nice menu. More Fish/seafood options than you usually see at Chinese restaurant. But lots of other options too. A few good set menu options as well which looked great. Would highly recommend! Thanks, we’ll be back 🙂

We had a great quarter duck for lunch in here. It came quickly and was reasonably priced. It also tasted very nice with the right level of crispiness. The restaurant is also on the seafront which is a plus. Highly recommend.

I got the crispy pork belly with a side of rice and some dumplings for a starter. The food came in very quick and the waiters were lovely. Had a really nice time will definitely come back as it is now one of my favourite places in Brighton. It’s a nice couple/family restaurant!

Review ✓ minimum Such a friendly restaurant, just up from the seafront. Good menu choices with lots of set menus to choose from as well. I went with my mum and we shared the Chef's Feast (set menu option 2) and it was incredible! Mixed hors d'ouvres starter, aromatic duck, then main dishes of catanese beef, lemon chicken, prawns in black bean sauce, mixed vegetables and special fried rice. Extremely good value for money too as well as absolutely delicious! Would go here again ANY time. Lovely, attentive and friendly staff, who enjoy creating a welcoming dining experience. Would recommend and certainly return! Vicky

Want authentic Cantonese food? Please come to China garden, I love the dim sum that is served at 12pm, and love the dinner service as well. It is my go to for Cantonese seafood and stir dye dishes. My hearty food go-to whenever I crave for hot soup, stirred-fry veggie, and great Asian style seafood.

Checked Google maps for Brighton restaurants, China Garden has great reviews and did not disappoint us. Just had a fantastic meal. Food was fantastic, delicious, so tasteful and good sized portions. Great efficient, attentive and friendly staff with a family atmosphere. Pity it’s 80 miles from home otherwise we would be regulars. Thank you very much for our fantastic meals.

The original Brighton Cantonese banger! Been coming here with my family since the 80s and now take my family here. Its a Brighton institution and still as good as it ever was for all the classics, always busy with a great atmosphere with super service and food!

Although dim sum prices are abit expensive compared to what we are used to in London/ China Town, the quality of the food is fairly good and I guess that’s the price you have to pay for having Chinese outside of London where it’s more expensive? The dim sum are around £5.20 each dish, but they do have a big variety of dim sum though so that’s really good. Their noodles and rice dishes look nice too. Value for money: 6.5/10 Food: 7/10

As a fan of Chinese Cuisine, I've tried a lot of restaurants and I can say China Garden is one of the best I've been to. Feastful ambience during lunch time, quick service, value for money 👌🏽

Good experience overall but most starters were sea food based (prawns) not ideal if you have allergies. We had a decent meal but it worked out quite expensive without really having much alcohol. Good friendly service.

The food was good and I was impressed by the service. However, be very careful about pricing for off-menu items. We asked for some plain broccoli for our four-year-old and were charged £11.90. When I queried this on the bill, mentioning it seemed excessive for a simple side of boiled broccoli, the staff were completely unwilling to adjust the charge or even acknowledge the issue. Their only response was "this is a restaurant" - dismissive and unhelpful. Whilst I understand restaurants need to make a profit, the lack of transparency about pricing and their refusal to make any effort to resolve a clearly unreasonable charge was disappointing. I'd strongly recommend asking about pricing before ordering anything not on the menu, as they won't help you after the fact.

Dim sum is good but pretty much every few minutes a different waitress came to the table to pour tea or try to take away unfinished dishes. It is honestly very annoying, I cannot have a private conversation without being interrupted every few minutes. I even said please dont serve the tea for us we can pour it ourselves, but there were about 5 different people to tell and some did not understand. Rude service as well. Please can I suggest having the same server for each table as you just feel harassed by so many different ones asking or doing the same thing. Won't be going back for this reason.

This was the nearest to my trek and just wanted a Chicken Chow mein. Nearly fell over when said £14. Normally pay £7. Food was ok, nothing spectacular for £14. Place was almost deserted and I can understand why. Much nicer and much more competitive priced. I will avoid from now on

If they say this is the best Chinese in Brighton then so be it. (I like to think Brighton deserves better though) We ordered a few dishes to get a good idea of the food. To be fair - my Crispy Aromatic Duck with rice pancakes was ok and this is the only one I could recommend to those of you who like this particular dish. My husband was looking forward to the Barbecued pork ribs. What he got was generously covered in a super sweet glaze, a mouthful of sweet sticky stuff wasn't what we wanted but whatever was underneath wasn't worth unfortunately (there should be a warning the whole dish is 50% sugar and 50% pork rib). The portion - less one piece - was collected by the waiter and - that was a nice surprise - it was removed from our bill as it was obvious we did not like it at all. Next - the main dish - Pork Slices Sichuan Style - that was supposed to be spicy and flavoursome as the waitress said. Instead it was immersed in sweet glaze flavourless shredded veg with (hard to find) traces of pork. Disappointing. My husband ended up sharing my Crispy Aromatic Duck with pancakes not to leave the place hungry. Took some pics of what was left at the end - less the Crispy Aromatic Duck with pancakes that we ate in its entirety and less the pork ribs that we returned.

The Cheung fan and steam dim sum is far from ideal. The dumpling and Cheung fan are too thick and they were over-steamed. The chicken of the steam chicken rice is very tough and over-cooked. Very disappointing. Highly not recommend this restaurant.

O
Oscar Yeung

I came here to have the dim sum for lunch, as the rating in Google map. I was completely disappointed. I ordered a Ha-gao, the skin is too thick and sticky like being over-steamed a lot. The second dim sum is the Cheung-fun, which I was the most horrible I had in my entire life. I like melted after it over-steamed. I couldn’t even hold with the chopsticks. The mince beef was like scattered sand. The third one was the Siu-lung-bao. There was no soup inside. Lastly, the taste of chicken rice bowl was not bad, but the texture of the chicken was terribly tough like steamed for so many times. Please don’t go to the restaurant just because of the rating. Even I tried reflect the issues of those dim-sum, the waiters ignored me and only talked with the customers feeling happy. That’s very rude to me. The whole meal was not worth for over £35, as there are so many better options among the same street.

h
hopey smile

Prices of dim sum here were more expensive than London…but with smaller portions. Other dishes tasted nice but service was disappointing and very rush. The second we finished a plate, staff would take the dish away even though we were still biting the food. I’m not sure why because there was no queue. They cleared up our table within 1 minute of finishing the food (still drinking our tea). We ended up staying for a little more than half an hour, clearly understanding the assignment, but would probably never return again.

Every item was tasteless: Dim sum - reheated, rubbery Cold cuts - reheated, whole duck neck, soggy meat Chilli oil - bought in, deplorable for ANY Chinese restaurant but Cantonese it's Criminal and lazy Price for 3 - £140 Daylight robbery, was my birthday treat for friends and didn't wish to embarrass them by refusing to pay. Questioned the quality of the food with the manager who pretended 'don't understand'. Go to New Era, family run, Husband cooks to perfection, Tao and Aunt front of house ✌️

I really loved this place and didn’t want to make a fuss. But I felt so offended today. When I talked to the staff standing beside me, she just put up her hand towards me, trying to stop me. You know, the reason why I’m so sad is that she always smiles and talks to white customers in such a friendly way:) Always. What have I done so wrong...? I got the wrong dish so they changed the food for me, but the squid was undercooked. It was nowhere near as cooked. So I couldn’t eat them. I wanted to talk to someone about this, and told a woman what happened but she was so annoyed. She said there is no way squid was undercooked and she fussily removed all the dishes, saying “okay you don’t have to pay for the food just go”, which was very ignorant. We insisted on paying for the food but when other staff came to us to listen to us, she just STIFLED us, saying “no no no”. So we withdrew the money and gave it to the restaurant. Certainly, a free meal was not what we wanted, but the least respect.
