Look, K-Town is overwhelming. You walk down 32nd Street and there are a hundred people trying to shove menus in your face, tourists everywhere, and a line out the door for every single spot. It’s easy to just settle for whatever looks decent, but trust me on this: do not settle. Walk straight to Wonjo. I’ve been coming here for a while, and the reason is simple: Charcoal. Most places in the city have switched to gas grills because it’s easier/cheaper/whatever, but Wonjo still uses real charcoal, and you can taste the difference immediately. It’s not even a subtle thing. The meat gets this incredible, smoky char that you just cannot replicate on a gas grill. When you walk in and that smell hits you—that mix of smoke, garlic, and sizzling fat—you know you’re about to have a serious meal. We went all in and ordered the Galbi (Short Ribs), and honestly, it’s arguably the best bite of beef you can get in Midtown. The marbling was crazy, and because of that charcoal heat, the outside gets these perfect crispy, caramelized edges while the inside just melts. You don’t even really need the dipping sauces, but obviously, you’re going to use them because they’re delicious. We also did the Pork Belly, which was cut thick and grilled until the fat was rendered perfectly—crunchy, chewy, salty perfection. And we need to talk about the Banchan (the side dishes). A lot of places treat these as an afterthought, giving you like three tiny sad bowls of kimchi. Wonjo loads the table up. The kimchi is actually spicy and fermented right (not that fresh, watery stuff), the fish cakes are addictive, and the staff is super quick with the refills. You never have to awkwardly wave someone down to get more radish; they’re on it. To balance out all the meat, we got the Japchae (glass noodles) and the Soondubu (Spicy Soft Tofu Stew). The stew came out bubbling violently hot, packed with seafood and tofu that was smooth as silk. It’s the ultimate comfort food, especially if it’s cold outside or if you’ve had a few drinks. The vibe is exactly what you want K-BBQ to be: loud, energetic, a little smoky, and fast. The service is efficient—they don’t hover, but they get things done. Whether it’s 7 PM or 2 AM, this place delivers every single time. It’s an NYC institution for a reason.

Came here today Sunday for family lunch. 6 of us had the Beef lovers for 4 people , two appetizers and chicken fried rice and we could not finish it all. The server (John) was helpful in selecting menu items and made sure our water carrier was all the way full. The twice fried chicken was just ok , it was more saucy than crispy. It was good but I have had more crunchy fried chicken. John actually cooked the food for us, not sure it this is commonly done here, maybe because we seemed new but it was fine. The lettuce for the lettuce wraps was cold and crisp. The side sauces were sweet and spicy. I would definitely be back again. The tofu soup was heavy on the seafood but had some grit. The grill had some actual charcoal underneath so the flavor was really strong. If you don’t like that flavor just be aware it is not a gas only grill.

Great dinner experience at New Monjo. We ordered the Korean prime rib BBQ for two, which was flavorful, tender, and fun to cook at the table. We also had the bibimbap, which was fresh and delicious. The set menu was a great experience overall, the service was attentive, and the location was perfect — an easy walking distance from our hotel in the Koreatown area. Definitely a solid spot for Korean BBQ while visiting NYC.

Not too crowded for a weekday lunch. LA galbi set - very tender galbi, one of the most tender I’ve had in the city. Bossam set - pork was not too porky, which was good. Lettuce was fresh. Dipping sauce was very salty. Did not appreciate the strong flavored red pickled vegetable side. Cold noodles side - big portion, taste felt authentic. Loved the slice of pear. Tofu stew side - good portion, tastes authentic. Banchan - really good kimchi, okay bean sprouts and pickled vegetables. Space is a little dingy and really smells fishy when you first enter. Service is okay. Price is reasonable for the portion.

My usual go to for kimchi stew and combo sets. The quality and food stay really consistent throughout the years! Service is excellent and it's always packed during meal time.

I ordered their Galbi Jim (braised short ribs) special. It was amazing. So flavorful with a hint of sweetness combined with spice and a nutty flavor. The cuisine feels authentic and we were received with a warm welcome. The water tastes refreshing. The appetizers were very good and healthy (kimchi and all the works). The cinnamon tea afterwards was a nice touch. Place could be a bit more modern but clean.

I love New Wonjo so much! This is one of the best Korean restaurants I’ve had in Ktown. They start by serving banchan (side dishes) included in your meal. I highly recommend the budae jjigae and the tteokbokki on New Wonjo’s menu. The service is great and staff are very attentive and friendly!

We came in with absolutely no wait time, even though it was a busy weekend evening. The staff greeted us right away and even brought us waters as soon as we sat down, which was a really nice touch. Once we ordered, the food came out surprisingly fast, and the service stayed friendly and attentive the whole time. We got the Wonju Combo, and honestly, it tasted just as good as it looked. Everything was well-presented, fresh, and flavorful. The kimchi was amazing — one of the best I’ve tried, no joke! Even with how packed it was on a Saturday night, everything ran smoothly. Overall, definitely recommend!

It is a whole experience! One of the busiest Korean barbecue places in K town. Service is good and fast! You get to try a whole bunch of things and it is quite exciting. The place is packed in the evening so definitely make a reservation. We got Prime Ribeye for 4 and it was great! Glass noodles dish was also excellent, all of us thought it was really tasty. You get an egg dish and your choice of soup with it, and of course a lot of small appetizers. Yum!

We stopped by on a Friday evening ~8 without reservations and were seated promptly. Service was quick and professional. Food was outstanding from apps to main dishes. Their Jae Yuk Bokum (my go to) was the best I've had among the 30 Korean restaurants I've tried across the country.

This is a great place for Korean food. We came here as a family on a Monday around 4pm and we were seated immediately. The restaurant upstairs is very nicely decorated with lots of pictures and art. We ordered the Jap Che (glass noodles)with beef and the Dduk Boki (rice cake/gnocchi) and the Je Yook Gui (spicy sliced pork) to be grilled table-side. All of these were great and the BBQ order came with plenty of sides. Be warned, if it says spicy, it’s spicy; Korean cuisine does not mess around when something is labeled as “spicy”. They have lots a drink offerings and several beer options, I ordered an Allagash. The wait staff was friendly and checked in on us often, the food came out relatively quickly and we had a very pleasant experience.

This is one of my favorite restaurants in Midtown Manhattan, right in the heart of Koreatown. I’ve been there over the years, and the quality and service have remained consistently excellent. The Korean barbecue is delicious, as well as dishes like Bibimbap. I love that they bring you several complimentary small plates (banchan) as an appetizer while you wait for your main dish. It has a great atmosphere—clean, tidy, and with excellent customer service.

New Wonjo Restaurant has that warm, cozy charm that feels like stepping into a Korean home. While they're known for Korean BBQ, we opted for their entrees and were pleasantly surprised by how comforting and satisfying the whole meal was. We started with the sweet and spicy fried chicken as an appetizer. While it was crispy and flavorful, it reminded us more of a spicy sesame chicken than the classic Korean-style bone- in fried chicken we were expecting. That said, the variety of banchan (side dishes) more than made up for it--potato salad, kimchi, cucumber salad, and more--each one fresh, tasty, and true to what I love about Korean cuisine. For our mains, we ordered the Bulgogi Bibimbap and the Octopus Bibimbap. Both came out sizzling hot and packed with flavor. The balance of textures and seasonings made each bite so satisfying--we were completely stuffed by the end! Just when we thought we couldn't eat another bite, our server surprised us with a traditional cinnamon dessert tea. It was such a lovely touch and something I haven't experienced at most Korean restaurants. That detail alone told me how authentic and thoughtful this place really is. Service was great throughout--our server was friendly, attentive, and made sure we felt welcome. Overall, New Wonjo offers a comforting Korean dining experience with authentic touches that make it memorable. Would definitely return!

My family and I stopped by this place for lunch for the first time. We love Korean food and had tried many different restaurants, especially in our hometown Boston. However, we were impressed with the quality of food at this place. Their Galbi beef was soft and tastier than other places. Similarly, their seafood scallion pancake is yummy in comparing to other places. As far as their services go, I would give them a 6-star rating. They are fast and friendly. Their restaurant and bathroom are clean as well. Lastly, their prices (we ordered from their lunch special menu) are very reasonable given their location. Overall, our family is pleased with this place and will definitely check it out again in the future.

The food was amazing! I enjoy some good Asian food and this spot did not miss. They prepare your meal right in front of you on the table. The only issue I did have was the cooks hair. They do not wear nets so as waitress was cooking she is standing leaning over the table where some of our dishes were and I just felt like little loose pieces of hair could fall in our food. Other than this the food was great. The vibe was nice and I really love that they are open till 5am. I will be down there at 1am one day!

Our experience at this restaurant was decent --- the service could definitely be improved, but other than that, the food tasted great and the atmosphere was cozy and inviting. We had stumbled upon this restaurant while walking around Koreatown in search of a place for lunch. When we walked in, we weren't greeted by the friendliest person at the desk, but rather someone who seemed as confused as we were since we thought we were walking into a different restaurant. When we eventually decided to stay, we were seated and looked at the menu. When my friend had an inquiry about the different fish dishes on the menu, the waitress was extremely unhelpful. She basically reiterated exactly what was written on the menu, as if we didn't care to read it all before asking for help. The useless dialogue between them lasted about 2 minutes, to which my friend came to a decision practically on her own. Other than this interaction, another aspect of the service that I felt was lacking was the speed to give us the check. At the end, we were left hanging and we felt confused as to whether they would be back with a card reader or not. When I decided to pay cash, I was standing around for 5 minutes trying to find someone who was available to take my money. I understand that they were probably busy at that time, however, they should prioritize getting people out of the restaurant if they want a steady flow of customers. Onto the food, we chose not to do the BBQ, but rather to order our own dishes. I ordered the minced meat bibimbap, which was tasty - no complaints. I also enjoyed the variety of side dishes presented to us, I believe this is the best selection of sides out of any Korean place I've dined at. Moreover, my friend ordered the grilled fish combo, which was hefty! I really enjoyed the flavour and tenderness of the fish. Ultimately, the food at this restaurant was delicious but the service was lacking. I can see why some people would really enjoy dining here, as the portions are decent and the prices aren't too steep.

We have eaten at this restaurant several times but this time we were guests in a party of 10 people. We had a nice big table in the back on the first floor. Very busy restaurant with people in line to get in. The host ordered lots of delicious dishes and they just kept coming out. Plenty of drinks as well. Service was very attentive and we all had a great time. Back again on New Year’s Day to celebrate a new year. Very crowded so we had to wait 25 minutes for a table downstairs. We had Korean fried chicken to start along with all the usual small dishes. Spicy and good. Then I had beef bibim bop and my wife had Dukguk. Both delicious. A great way to start the new year right in the middle of Korea Tiwn on 32street.

Overall this place was pretty good for kbbq. however, some of their meats are quite under seasoned. i would say the service was great. the guy that served us cooked for us and was very considerate to split our big dishes into multiple bowls so our gathering could all try. he even stood on a stool to help us take a picture with a good angle. gave us complementary japchae and orange slices which was all tasty and flavorful. overall would maybe come back if i have another gathering as food and service was better than some of the other places here.

Wonjo Korean BBQ west 32nd st Manhattan n.y. If your ever in the neighborhood give this Wonjo a try, there are many korean Bbq I've visited throughout my life and being Asian,Wonjo is more upscale than most on that street. They serve fresh meat and fresh ingredients, service is at its best korean hospitality. Galbi is fresh and delicious, sirloin is fresh and cooked/grilled correctly tender and delicious. Try the Jap chae perfectly seasoned and delicious. Bulgogi seasoned well and delicious. And mostly the ban chan has variety daily, it's different daily, fresh ingredients and delicious. You won't be disappointed. Give Wonjo a try your palette won't be disappointed. Thankyou for late hours Wonjo.

Food was okay! Stop by here after a night out since they stay open late. Food was decent, though I might’ve expected a bit more. Banchan choices are okay, and I had the galbi tang and pork belly BBQ. Prices are fair, but the real highlight is the service super quick and super friendly!

We went there to celebrate my sister birthday last week. One of the server ruined our day. First of all our food came very late compared to other table even though we ordered at similar time which was ok. But when we asked for refill of some side dishes, the server was replied that they already gave one in his very rude tone (which he could mention in nicer tone). One of the server who took our order completely forgot to take order of one of the dishes and we had to order again. Over all the food was good but with this kind of service was horrible.

I usually don’t write negative reviews, but this experience left me uncomfortable. The total bill was $$$, and unfortunately the service did not match the price. The staff seemed inattentive and not very welcoming throughout our visit. What surprised me the most was that after we left, the server ran after us to point out that gratuity was not included. As someone who has worked in the restaurant industry myself, I understand how tipping works in the U.S., and I always appreciate good service. However, I don’t believe it is appropriate to chase guests to ask about tips. Gratuity should reflect the quality of service and should never feel forced. I hope management addresses this, as it affects the overall guest experience.

TLDR; unfair seating, mediocre food, and AWFUL SERVICE! (We’ve been here multiple times and this is ridiculous. This has been, by far, the worst experience. We will not be returning.) 1.) My group of friends and I were waiting for an available table and had been standing there for ~35 minutes. They continuously seated people who had been waiting for a shorter amount of time (they didn’t have reservations) while ignoring us. When they finally seated us, they sat us at a table that was insufficient for our group (table was too small, not able to accommodate for our party size), while everybody else, including parties with people equal/greater than us were properly seated at tables meant for the amount of people they had. It’s extremely awkward to have to pull up a chair and have somebody sit where they’re not supposed to. Also, this caused us to not have enough space on our table for our dishes. 2.) Firstly, they skimped on side dishes. When we asked for refills of certain sides, they did not bring them out. We ordered the seafood pancake which had very little seafood and was soggy. We also ordered the squid bibimbap which had quite literally no taste to it. It was disappointing and we had to ask for more sauce which did not improve the flavor whatsoever. We also ordered the galbi combo which is supposed to come on a sizzling hot plate. Our plate wasn’t hot; it wasn’t even warm. This wasn’t a universal issue however, because the table next to us ordered the same thing and their plate was visibly and audibly sizzling. 3.) TERRIBLE SERVICE, ESPECIALLY FROM THE MASKED GUY IN THE MANBUN WHO SAT US. We were in the middle of our meal when he comes to our table and drops the check off. Mind you, it has only been around 30 minutes since we were seated. We all still had food, were eating, and were talking. We did not ask for the check. He then continued to walk back and forth while eyeing our table, almost as if he wanted us to pay and leave. This was extremely rude. After around 10 minutes (we were still eating and had food), he comes back to our table and picks up the checkbook, having expected that we paid. We had to say, “not yet”, and was then left again. The entire time, it seemed as though he was insistent on us leaving. We had to request our water jug to be replaced multiple times. When it was then replaced, the waiter who brought it out gave it to us and said “here you go” in a condescending tone. There were other people in the restaurant who were mindfully being paid attention to, having their waters replaced. Waiters walked past our table, where our water was very visible, and still did not replace it. People who had been eating since we were seated did not face the same treatment; they were left to eat while we were given the check and continuously rushed.
