My friend and I came across this restaurant after a long day of walking around New York. Upon entering we were greeted by the host and introduced to our server Marisol who was taking care of us. The food was amazing and the staff were attentive to our needs. I highly recommend visiting Carnegie Diner & Cafe!
I stopped by Carnegie Diner & Café and had such a great experience! The food was delicious, portions were generous, and everything came out fresh. The staff was super friendly and made us feel really comfortable. The atmosphere has that cozy NYC diner vibe, perfect for a casual meal with the family. Definitely a spot I’d visit again!
Had dinner at Carnegie Diner with a coworker, and we were both genuinely impressed. They ordered a burger and enjoyed every bite super flavorful and cooked perfectly. I tried a few different things myself, and everything was honestly amazing. The portions were great, the service was solid, and the menu has so many options that it’s almost impossible not to find something you’ll love. Overall, it was a really enjoyable experience, and I’d definitely come back again.
Carnegie Diner & Café truly surprised me. The food came out fresh, hot, and full of flavor. The pancakes were unbelievably fluffy, the cheeseburger was juicy and cooked perfectly, and the fries were the ideal crispy-soft combo. The vibe is classic New York diner with a modern, clean twist, and the service was friendly and fast even during a busy rush. Overall, a solid spot that delivers exactly what you want great food, great portions, and a place you’ll definitely want to come back to.
I have visited this place a few times over the last couple of months. I was helped by a young lady, I think her name is Elli. She works as the bartender, her service was outstanding every time. Very attentive and was able to answer all the questions I had about the menu. Appreciated the professionalism that she displayed, it each time I have visited.
I had a wonderful experience at the Carnegie Diner & Cafe. The food was delicious, the atmosphere was cozy, and everything felt welcoming and well organized. A special thank you to our server Eliseo, who made the visit even better. He was incredibly attentive, friendly, and professional. Eliseo checked on us at the perfect times, made great recommendations, and made sure everything was exactly how we wanted it. Service like this really makes a difference. Overall, a fantastic brunch experience. I will definitely be coming back and highly recommend this place to anyone looking for great food and excellent service. 👏
Food was amazing as was our server Eliseo. Very helpful and attentive. The food was delicious, great sizes and good prices. Highly recommend.
Everything was a 10/10! We truly enjoyed our experience from start to finish. Everyone was very welcoming too. The food was amazing, and we were especially grateful to Elena, who patiently helped us decide what to order. Surprisingly, we loved everything she suggested, especially the steak it was delicious! We’ll definitely be coming back. Thank you for such a wonderful experience.
Highly recommend this place if you want a taste of the American cuisine. The food was fresh. The service perfect. The interior welcoming. Give it a try yourself.
Excellent service ( shout-out to Colombian tattoo artist waiter! ) and delicious authentic Greek salad, perfectly made almond coffee latte. Comfortable affordable mellow spot in an otherrwise busy chaotic neighborhood. Clean . Large menu. Many folks ordering burgers there, and pre theatre special which is all the time is fair deal. Went 2x and will definitely return. Keep up this quality!
Everything was fantastic. Great flavors, huge portions, and fresh fruit. And as usual for NYC, my only critic is season the hash browns more. That seems to be a running theme for all hash browns in the city. This southern boy needs some pop. Outside of that, I’d be back to try more items. The menu is huge!
I had such a great experience at this restaurant! I ordered the Banana Nutella Strawberries Pancake stack, which came with three fluffy pancakes layered perfectly. The portions were generous, and the presentation looked just as good as it tasted. My server, Andriana, was very kind, attentive, and welcoming.
We had an incredible breakfast at Carnegie Diner & Café. Situated right across from Greeley Square Park, it had a nice view and slightly quieter than other parts of the city. I ordered over-easy eggs with hash browns, sourdough toast, fried greens, and a side of bacon — everything was simple, fresh, and cooked perfectly. My son got the blueberry pancakes, and they were ridiculous in the best way: fluffy, light, and absolutely delectable, served with a cute mini syrup bottle that made the whole experience even better. The food came out surprisingly fast, and every staff member we interacted with was friendly, polished, and attentive. Truly the best breakfast I’ve had in years. Highly recommend.
Really loved this place. The food was super tasty and the portions were huge. The vibe inside is cozy and lively without being chaotic, which is rare in Midtown. The staff was friendly and quick, and everything came out fresh. Honestly, it’s one of those spots you find by chance and immediately think, “Yep, I’m coming back!!” Great for breakfast, brunch, or just grabbing something good before walking around the area. Totally recommend it.
Excellent service team. Great American fare in a cozy NYC diner setting. Love the pancakes 🥰. Perfect rest stop during touring and hiding from the cold 😋
Great food lovely setting staff were very friendly and helpful service was amazing
We visited this place on Friday night after Christmas. Really like the atmosphere and the staff here. If you are looking for American cuisine, let go for it. We ordered steak and chicken-waffle. Really enjoy them.
If you’re in the mood for classic diner food, this place is a safe bet. I stopped by Carnegie Diner & Cafe for breakfast and honestly enjoyed it more than expected. Had an omelet with hash browns — simple, but cooked really well and super filling. The coffee kept coming, which is always a plus. The vibe is relaxed and very New York, a little busy but in a good way. Service was quick and friendly, no attitude. It’s not trying to be fancy, just solid comfort food. I’d definitely come back if I’m in the area again.
This place really is quite nice for a little stop around the city. The food was great, the service was great, and quick as well! Whether you are stopping for lunch or just swinging by for a pastry, I would definitely recommend.
Stopped in for a quick dinner. Both the soup and the wings were very good and reasonably priced! I had asked for boneless but I didn't mind the error. The waiter was very apologetic and kind, and I appreciated that the kitchen rushing my order as I was in a little bit of a rush. Would definitely recommend!
We visited this cafe recently and had a wonderful brunch experience. The mocha and hot chocolate were excellent. The Pancakes were big and cane be shared. These pancakes were a major highlight! They were thick, fluffy, and served with a generous topping of mixed berries (blueberries and strawberries) in a delicious sauce, all dusted with powdered sugar and a few dollops of whipped cream. A truly satisfying and sweet way to start the day. The Savory Plate (Eggs, Toast, Salad): This classic breakfast combo was executed flawlessly. The two sunnyside-up eggs were cooked perfectly with runny yolks, and the side of whole wheat toast was ideal for dipping. The small bowl of fresh melon and cantaloupe was a nice, light addition, and the little bottle of syrup on the side was great for the pancakes.
Random pick for us - but this place was great! The food was so flavorful. The seafood angnolotti was the absolute best! Do not skip it! The service was great - shout out to Baird, our server who made us laugh and even called in the manager to explain a liquor we were curious about. This place treated us like special guests. Great meal!
Amazing burger! juicy, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. Great quality ingredients, generous portion, and seriously satisfying. One of the best comfort food spots in NYC. Definitely worth a visit.

This is one of those places I’d casually recommend to a friend visiting NYC. Carnegie Diner & Cafe does exactly what you expect from a diner — big menu, fast service, and good portions. I went for a classic burger with fries, and it was juicy and satisfying. The staff was chill and attentive, and the atmosphere felt lively without being overwhelming. Perfect for breakfast, lunch, or when you just want an easy, no-nonsense meal. I’ll definitely keep this spot in mind next time.

Had lunch. Ordered and shared lunch with my wife. We shared a pastrami sandwich and added fries. The flavor was pretty good, have had better but that is my personal feelings of the flavor. The downside was the server. Only saw him when we ordered and asking for the check. When our food came out, which was delivered by someone different did not stay long enough to ask if we needed anything. We didn't have any silverware to use for our salads that come with the sandwich. We had to get up and ask the seating hostess for silverware. She handled the situation quickly and properly. Im hoping this is a one off bad day for the server.
This dinner it’s a little bit less cozy and more fast paced, which is not surprising given the location, pretty busy area of the city as you may guess. They offer reservations basically at any time on the same day but you need to beware that if it’s a busy day like a Saturday brunch time regardless of the reservation time you will be sent to the end of the restaurant to wait with the other customers while they figure out where to place all the people that also made reservations at the same time as you. Thankfully my friend approached the host as a table was becoming available and we were seated. The food was good. The menu offers a long list of options and $19 unlimited mimosas for 2 hours (if the whole table orders it) $10 margaritas all day! Prices are fair and they serve great amounts of food. The pastrami sandwich was good as well as the chili The services wasn’t really outstanding. Got a glass of water with a pice of paper inside and a spoon placed directly on the table. It’s a nice place to try but maybe on a less busy time to see how it goes.
Food was great - we had breakfast and the eggs and hash browns were delicious. The accompanying soundtrack was really good and added to the ambience We asked for extra coffee a couple of times before it came and the same with the bill, which was a Shane as we were in a bit of a rush.

I loved most of the menus and loved the services. However, please do not order the apple pie. It smells like metal and tastes like detergent. Egg Benedict, pancake, hamburger.. all good but except for the pie.
Review is specifically for the multi layer chocolate cake. I came here just for the chocolate cake bc I was really craving it. It was just okay, nothing special. The cake itself was kind of dry and too spongy, but the frosting or sauce on the outside tasted so strongly of Hersheys chocolate syrup that it took away from the true chocolate flavor of the cake. Just tasted syrupy and artificial. I wouldn't recommend it
Food is very good. But be prepared to wait, first for a table and then for service. They have many servers but the exclusive server-per-table system means that if your server is taking care of other tables you wait, a lot, and the others sometimes doing nothing do not help you. This venue is in a hotel so its always crowded and the "no wait" of google is not always true.
Decent diner fare at this overpriced Herald Square spot. There is nothing particularly wrong about this place. The food is passable (if boring), the service is good, and it’s got nice big windows onto Herald Square, but it’s really expensive for what it is — twenty to twenty five bucks for most sandwiches (including burgers and hot dogs). The sandwiches are fairly standard. The burger meat is good, but they use a somewhat sweet brioche bun which is off putting. Sweetness is a thing here. The balsamic on salads is a heavy sweet glaze (again not my fav). In its previous incarnation the room was cozy and dimly lit. The interior is now bland (think ihop) but roomy. Lighting at the tables is harsh (better at the booths). The walls feature b/w pictures of random singers and a double tv (that for no reason plays random sports). The music was mainly 80s-90s pop. This is a good location in need of a great classic diner lunch/dinner/late night spot, but I don’t think this generic take of a diner will be a hit with anyone other than tourists.
I'm happy I came here to know not to return. Traveling from another state, of course I wanted to visit a diner for breakfast with the name Carnegie in it. I originally thought it was going to be a nicer, high quality diner. Nothing wrong with the fact it didn't exceed my expectations, it is just your typical diner that you can go anywhere to be honest. The food though is what got me. I provided a photo of the nachos we got. We learned to not get nachos in NYC since I guess that's not a typical but if it's on your menu, with the name Carnegie on it, signifying that it is something that is popular, it should be good. I felt like I was in McDonalds but that's okay!! The waiters and staff were great!

We came on Christmas Eve, we waited for 15 minutes, Mariya the servent was nice, we are both allergic to dairy , and what we ordered was with fries that had dairy so we deleted it and the bun was promised to be without dairy and gluten free, eventually we didn't get any bread on the chicken menu, the floor of the restaurant was very dirty and the washroom was just broken and not clean at all! It was the worst experience in New York
Decided to check out this newly opened diner with my friends. i ordered the Southern chicken sandwich. I took a bite and the chicken was pink, so i asked one of the workers who sent the sandwich back. He came back with my same sandwich, and said the chicken is okay, but to make sure they “threw it in the fryer” again. He also claimed that it was the lighting that made my chicken appear pink. So I continued to eat, and when i reached the thicker part of the chicken, i saw that it was raw. all things said and done I appreciated our waitress (Jamie i think) who informed the cooks in the back and was apologetic. But that still doesn’t excuse an undercooked chicken sandwich priced at $18. They ended up replacing the sandwich with another burger but was still charged for the sandwich. Watch out folks
We ordered a Greek omelet, which is clearly marked as a vegetarian dish. There were small pieces of bacon on the hash browns. We sent it back and it returned with bacon. We sent it back again and it still had bacon. This time we ate around the bacon. It was okay. Not a good experience :(. The waiter was really nice though and comped our meal, so not her fault at all.
After waiting about 15 minutes for a small table, even though they had plenty of larger tables available, they eventually started to seat people. We waited about 8 minutes before anyone even acknowledged us. We had a Broadway show to attend, and it was cold outside, so we ordered water, a bowl of soup, and a simple and quick Reuben sandwich. After placing our order, another couple sat down next to us, and our waiter immediately took their order. They ordered a hamburger and a grilled salmon dinner. After a good while their dinners came out piping hot. We were still waiting for our simple meal. After what seemed like 10 minutes, we could see our waiter cleaning up one of the three drinks he dropped that night , someone else brought our meal, we were very disappointed, as you can see in the pictures. Wife's soup which her bowl was half full and barely warm and my Ruben, which was cold and clearly not what the menu shows. Whole meal costs $40. Our waiter was rude and made comments when we complained about our meal.
