Opinions de Archway Cafe Brooklyn
we came here for some pizza. We got 3 varieties. Each pie was AMAZING. The arugula & prosciutto was my fave. Hope to come here again next time it rains
Very nice place, dropped in here after Brooklyn Bridge Flea Market on Saturday afternoon, had a wonderful, tasty salad. Cool vibe, chill music, very nice and attentive service. The only annoying thing is the endless stream of people coming in to ask to use the toilet, like there was a public toilet sign somewhere - and some even getting upset at being refused, with a sens of entitlement. Must be annoying for the staff.
I entered this place blinded by hunger with my friends after being clueless in dumbo. I will say with confidence this place is great! I the tomato sauce in the rigatoni was very tasty and all the pasta’s were cooked al dente or at least to our liking. I’ll point out that the price is above the average price I’ve paid for a dish like this, but it didn’t hurt because the dish tasted better than I expected anyway. I would happily go here again.
Excellent food and ambience, we order prosciutto pizza and burrata, they gave us an appetizer and also dessert on the house, really amazing!
The pizza was beyond savory! This restaurant gives a very romantically dim-lit vibe. There's sparkling and tap water offered. The pizza was pretty affordable. The waiters are all very lovely and quick on their feet. I can't wait to return. My friend enjoyed their lasagna a lot as well. I definitely recommend this spot.
Very good food, but the waiters all gathered on the counter and it was very, very difficult to call them. We had a Prosciutto with mozzarella as starter — goes very well with a Primitivo wine! Gnocchi al Forno and Pappardele with boar ragu were also great.
i ordered their rustic pizza which features sopressata and red peppers. the pie came out within 5 minutes which is nice if you want a quick bite. the pizza itself was decent— nothing really outstanding about it. the tomato sauce and cheese were pretty standard and the sopressata was one of the redeeming qualities. they do use a brick oven to bake their pizzas which adds a nice charcoal/smoky flavor
The waiters had that attitude where they are better than you or not worth their time. I did not feel welcomed. Also its cash only so know before you go there. The pizza was small and a bit pricey but good. I liked the food.
This review is for the new hamburger restaurant that they opened up in this space. I have such mixed feelings about this place. On the one hand I do like their cheeseburgers a lot and its basically impossible in this area to find a cheaper burger (6.50$ here). On the other hand, the service is really strange here. They make you pay up front and then give you the tip options… so you feel pressured to leave something for them before you even get the food. The food comes out very fast. But they give it to you in a paper bag and when I asked for plates (I sat inside at a table) the waitress said they dont have any plates. Then I asked her for a napkin and she pointed over to the bar and said theyre over there… I literally had to ask her to please just bring me the napkins… also she didn’t give me any water until I asked for it. Bizarre service , but the food is good and comes out fast. I think 3 stars overall is fair. They really need to think about what their goal with this place is though as far as service goes. And making people pay upfront for their food including leaving a tip upfront is really strange because its not a fast food restaurant like shake shack or the taco place nearby. Its marketed as a sit down restaurant with plenty of seating…
$30 for a vegan ice cold pizza I'm not living far and the driver told me that it wasn't even hot anymore when it got picked up Why is it without tomato sauce? Even if it would have been hot it would be overpriced. inedible They haven't responded to my message or phone call, not interested to improve.
interesting experience. didn’t know you could really go wrong with pizza in Brooklyn, or pizza in general, but we made the mistake of wanting to try one of the unique Wood Fire Pizza options, so decided on the Soppresata!!! pizza. But received a much different pizza than what was featured on the online menu. As a frequent traveler and long time F&B myself, I’m not normally one to leave negative reviews - but draw the line on receiving a pizza with Maraschino cherries on it. We didn’t sent it back considering how long it took to get our glasses of wine (20 mins) and pizza (30+),on a Monday night after 7, despite the 3 other tables in the restaurant already eating when we’d arrived, we were hungry, disappointed, and still had an open mind about trying the pizza. If the pizza didn’t have the maraschino cherries on it, it would’ve probably been good, but a $67.50 bill (not including tip) for a pizza, 2 glasses of wine, and a single shot espresso… honestly, wouldn’t recommend.
The food was not worth the price. The location was cute. The drinks were mediocre. The presentation was very underwhelming. What saved everything was Arthur our server The location if you don’t mind passing trains over head is decent. The drinks were mediocre and poorly executed. Dishes served on super chipped plates. Arthur who I wish I had nothing bad to say still didn’t really know the liquor they had at the bar. And had to be reminded to bring certain items to the table. Miss matching silverware, the roughest napkins, and barely any ice in the drinks. Especially on a very warm day that it was. This occasion reminds me why I always Google search and read reviews on places so that I have a heads up. So that when I’m out on a date and not just randomly picking a spot because of a location. That is worth my time, calories, and hard earned money. Thank you for a horrible experience will never recommend and will tell others to stay away
Kudo's to the pizza baker, great pizza with thin crushy bottom. The service without a smile. That girl came without any request from me with the receipt and herself made 22% tip in it. Without any shame, no smile nor eyecontact and without any words. Shameless. I do not recomment
TL,DR: food not as advertised, and over priced drinks My partner and I were having a late lunch and we were excited to see that they had impossible burgers, the food came out quickly in the 3mins I stepped out side. I order and double cheeseburger and an impossible burger, unfortunately, when my partner and I sat down at the park to eat our burgers, they opened theirs to see it was a veggie patty, not impossible, a veggie patty. We were not told that it wasn’t an impossible burger, even though it is labeled impossible burger on the menu. Do not claim you have one thing when it’s really another my partner does not like that paddies is the whole reason why we stopped there because they had something we could both eat or at least we thought so, they ate it anyway, but we’re not satisfied. Also we were charged $6.95 for a small bottle of ginger ale.
Stopped by for a small bite with a friend as it was one of the few places open Thursday night. Ordered an apple pie which seemed prepackaged and microwaved lol, the cappuccino was fine (as someone who doesn't know much about coffee). Friend seemed to like his pulled pork sandwich. Place was nice, though music was a little too loud for conversing. Overall, fine - I didn't have high expectations coming in anyways, though I probably wouldn't return.
This restaurant was ok. Terrible service. I think there were 2 managers. One of them came over to grab my mom's ice tea without offering her a refill. And we did ask for a refill it wasn't actually a refill. They charge you for it. Ice teas always have free refills. Our waitress never really checked on us. All she did was take our order and that's it. She didn't bring over the food either. Another employee did. Food was mediocre. My mom insisted of giving them a 15% tip, I talked her out of it, so we gave them a 10% instead. If I could of I wouldn't have a left a tip at all. You don't have to leave a tip for a waiter at all. Theres nothing that says you have to. One if the mangers was kinda rude. I asked him where the restrooms were and he said downstairs in a rude way. Also my mom got an upset stomach after we left the restaurant.
This place got 2 stars because it’s a Pretty cool location and the Staff is sweet. The food could use some help. NY has good pizza. No good burgers. I would strongly encourage you get anything but the burger here.
Never got water for our table. Asked if I could get a table further away from the door in the back section, and they said that was reserved for larger groups (I wanted a table for 2); 5 minutes later they seated a group of 2 there. I asked if they could close the door since it was cold and they said they couldn’t, yet half an hour later they closed it. The waiter brought cream for my friend’s coffee, spilled it, some of it got on her and he did not apologize. Lastly, they chased after me once I left, claiming I didn’t sign the receipt, even though I did sign the correct one, the waiter was not apologetic or kind about it at all. The salmon burger was burnt as well. Cute atmosphere, just wish the service was better.
Do not order anything fresh here. My salad had tons of rotten lettuce, some old, cold, tough brussel sprouts, some of which had brown centers, some grated Parmesan, and the one edible part of the salad- toasted pine nuts. I got to sift through all of this while seated next to a filthy wall.
Terrible experience. The manager was shockingly rude, unprofessional, and borderline aggressive. We had friends visiting from Germany and wanted to give them a classic NY pizza moment. We saw the large pie on display and asked if we could order it for the table—happy to pay for all the slices or even an upcharge. The waiter initially said no but suggested asking the manager. When I politely explained the situation, the manager abruptly and repeatedly said “no” with no explanation, just cold, dismissive responses that made the staff visibly uncomfortable. I remained polite the entire time, but his demeanor made the entire experience uncomfortable and embarrassing. I would not recommend this place to anyone. Spending $200 has never hurt so much! Here’s his photo so you could stay clear of this place!
I would give 0 stars if I could. The place had a a funky smell but I gave it a chance. Shouldn’t have because the smell definitely came from the spoiled cheese that was on my pizza slice. I couldn’t even finish my pizza. After I left I checked out the market across the street for about 10 minutes before my stomach started to hurt (probably from the pizza) I had to use the restroom so I went back here and was turned away, first because they said I wasn’t a “paying customer” after I reminded them of the pizza I just bought they changed it and said “the restroom is for dining customers only”. Terrible, spoiled food and even worse hospitality. DO NOT give this place your time or money.
The lasagna taste horrible, n the hangar steak tasted spoil the only good thing was the fries 🍟 for the price we paid $100.00 with tip it was not worth it , I do not recommend this place at all 👎👎
On October 3rd, at approximately 7:30 PM, I entered Love and Dough Pizzeria. My uncle had just purchased a box of pizza, and within 10 minutes, I re-entered with two little girls, ages six, to use the restroom. When I asked the manager, Stefon, if the children could use the bathroom, he was extremely rude and dismissive, despite me explaining that I was a paying customer. Hoping for help, I approached the waiter, Alex, but he looked me up and down and walked away without a word. The cashier, Ri, was the only staff member who showed kindness. She listened politely, though she seemed embarrassed by her colleagues’ behavior. Because she could not resolve the issue, I purchased another slice of pizza ($5.25) just to be able to allow the children access to the bathroom. Only then did Stefon return and say we could use the restroom as though I had not already been a paying customer. The entire interaction was unprofessional, disrespectful, and completely lacking in customer service etiquette. The pizza itself was below average, but the bigger issue was the negative energy, dismissive attitude, and lack of basic courtesy from management and staff. I told them to keep the slice I had purchased and suggested they give it to someone in need, as I refused to take it after such treatment. I will not return to this establishment and cannot recommend it to anyone not because of the food alone, but because of the appalling behavior and lack of respect for customers.
My one-star rating comes not because of the sub-par yet overpriced pizza, but due to the abysmal service and treatment my partner and I received during our less-than-30-minute stay at this establishment. Both waiter & host barely said any words to us. The waiter, in serving my partner his ordered drink, slammed the glass onto our table abruptly and left. Said waiter also brought us the cheque before we even finished our pizza. We received the message loud and clear and so we paid and left not long after. I suppose the one good thing about the situation is that we did not have to wait long for our meal to come to our table, so we were not subject to spending too much time in an establishment where we were clearly unwelcome. I've now read the other poor reviews from other POC on here and should've done it before patronizing this establishment. Regrettably dined in on May 31st at around 2:30pm.
Literally just went here, 5/10/25 , 7:15 pm, and guy at the door has the energy of a bouncer! Blocking the door! Are you closed? No. Whites only? No? I see a Sister sitting in the front. Weird, I didn't feel welcomed! Totally turned off and went next door to Tommy's Bar and Burger, which was friendly, welcoming, and with better ambiance and food and drinks were amazing! Don't go here!
I would give zero stars if that was an option. $100 for two pizzas and plain pasta. The pizza was just okay, and the pasta was overdone mush. The service was awful. We waited forever for our food, they refused the simplest requests (no sauce on pasta), and then we waited forever for our check. Every table around us was complaining about food arriving late or incorrect. The table next to us had to ask three times for cutlery. Then, the server had the absolute gall to tip herself above the standard percentage on my card, requiring me to contest it with my bank. Lastly, the chairs are cheap plastic, and every time we moved, the legs went out from under us - and trying to get to the door in a tiny and overcrowded space was anxiety-producing. We will never come back.
If I could give zero stars, I would. My experience at this restaurant was honestly one of the worst I’ve ever had — and I review places for a living. From the moment we walked in, the service was already a mess. The manager on shift — Arthur — was unbelievably unprofessional. His attitude was disrespectful, dismissive, and completely lacking basic manners. At one point he literally tossed the plates onto our table like he didn’t care at all. No greeting, no apology, nothing. The waiting time was ridiculous. We sat there for what felt like forever before anyone even checked on us. When the food finally arrived, it tasted old, reheated, and honestly made me feel sick. Nothing was fresh, nothing had flavor, and it was served with zero care. I actually had to stop eating because it was that bad. To make things worse, the place didn’t even feel clean. I noticed things moving under the table, and what looked like a couple of rodents and a large cockroach around the dining area. Whether the restaurant wants to admit it or not, the cleanliness is clearly not under control. The whole place felt disorganized, chaotic, and poorly run. Staff didn’t communicate, tables weren’t being cleaned properly, and nobody seemed to know what they were doing. As someone who visits restaurants regularly for content, this one stood out — for all the wrong reasons. I genuinely don’t recommend anyone spend their money here. There are plenty of places in the city that respect your time, your money, and your health — this is NOT one of them.
I could not find a way to leave 0 starts. Stopped with my elderly mother and baby for a coffee. When the coffee was served I asked for sweetener and the manager said in a rude way they don’t have it. I said I was sorry I could not have the coffee with sugar and he said “go away then”. Then he took a picture of me with his phone threatening if I left a bad review.
A friend and I went to order coffee at the shop next door and were told to go to this location for a drink. In the entire restaurant there was one single table taken besides ours. Despite the emptiness the waiter told us that we needed to leave if we didn’t order a full on meal despite the fact no one was there. I’ve lived in NY my entire life and have never had such awful service or been asked to leave an empty restaurant. The reviews are bad for a reason. Avoid this place at all costs. The poor service is not even worth what you get.
The place was almost empty, which should've been a massive red flag, but he decided to give it a go nevertheless. Overpriced, soggy, tasteless, and cold pizza. The olive oil was seeping through the paper plates onto the table. Below average service. A frozen pizza place disguised as "authentic Neapolitan pizza". Compared to this joint, Pizza Hut is a 3-star Michelin restaurant.
Incredibly rude service the very second we walked in. I was confused about where to order because I saw no menus and when the guy behind the bar asked what I wanted (in a very non-friendly manner) I asked if they had matcha and he rolled his eyes and got all pissy because he “couldn’t hear me”. I walked out and even my boyfriend was shocked at the guy’s attitude. Will never go back solely because of that…can’t be in food service with that kind of attitude. Be kind to people - plain and simple…
If I could leave a zero star review, I would. Easily the worst restaurant in terms of food quality that I’ve ever had in New York. If I were you, I’d look in the bin of a McDonald’s and eat it rather than eating a frozen meatball sandwich, a kale salad with no dressing or truffle fries with no truffle. This place should really be ashamed of itself.
If I could give zero stars I would! This place discriminated against me and my Muslim and POC friends. While the wait staff was kind, the manager was disrespectful and rude. We kindly asked if a pizza had pork on it, we were told it didnt. The pizza came with pork, we kindly asked for it to be swapped, the manager told us that we shouldve known? and that someone has to pay for it. He was clearly singling us out and we all felt very uncomfortable. not to mention, the food tasted mediocre with no flavor. Save your time and money and dont eat here :)
I went in for a coffee to go. It was overpriced and the manager or whoever was the front of house man was rude (middle-aged dark haired man). After purchasing a cappuccino for $7 we asked to use the restroom and there were 4 of us and only 1 of needed to us it, but before we could answer who actually needed to use it, he said "we don't do that here", when he stopped talking and actually heard that it was just one of us that needed to go then he was 'fine with it'. Then he told us to wait outside when it was very cold to wait for the coffee. The coffee itself was not even worth it! Now going back and reading other reviews clearly it is the same dark-haired middle-aged man that is full of unnecessary attitude and rudeness. If the owner or whoever reads this, clearly there is an issue and you should reconsider how you treat customers!
This is the WORST customer experience I’ve ever had in the country. Look for the guy in his mid 50s running the register at the bar, I’m more than certain that he’s the owner. My husband and I were kicked out because we took more than 3 minutes to made our minds about what we wanted to order. PLEASE, do your self a favor and AVOID this place like the plague. It’s places like this that make our beautiful city look rude and hostile. They don’t deserve to be in business and most definitely they don’t deserve your money. Look anywhere else.
Bad customer service. The guy behind the bar was rude. My brother and I had just entered the cafe to meet our friends after years and even before we could catch our breaths we were asked to order. While we asked for water without ice we were given chilled water , to which we said no as we wanted water at reg. temp. Our friends were drinking coffee and we were still settling in, meantime the guy behind the bar walked in on us chatting, interrupted us in a rude manner and asked us to order, my brother said we don’t want to order as neither of us drinks coffee and we didn’t know what else they had, to which the guy simply said if you can’t order please leave, this isn’t a park. After this I asked for the menu but the guy denied. If the guy ends up reading this I want to tell him that a little politeness can go a long way. We’re sorry if you’re going through something and maybe that’s why you have so many people reviewing you as rude, but projecting your frustration on others isn’t gonna do any good to you or your business. Hope you feel better and start treating others better. All the best
