Opinions de BunNan Brooklyn
I would say my fiance and I are semi regulars here and the food is always amazing. I had the griot rice bowl and my fiance had the tassot rice bowl and it was amazing. The akra was amazing everything thing here is must have. Jimmy our server today was very attentive in a packed house. This is the place for Haitian food in Brooklyn
Very laid back! A quiet confidence about awesome place! The GOAT TASSOT was super delicious! It tasted like it had marinated really well rendering that braised, fell-off-the-bones texture. My plantain fries were on par. My weakness for sweet plantain got the better of me. Try the regular plantain fries. Oh, I can not forget the crispy-crunchy akra! BUNNAN is a big hit!
Go Jimmy! Thank you for your incredible service. As a Haitian, I am proud to see businesses like this continue to thrive. Hi and thank you from me and Sandra!!! 🥰🥰🥰 love game night and the food is awesome
Enjoyed a nice Sunday morning here. Haiti was overly attentive while taking my order and serving coffee! Paris offered me a chicken Pattie as a first time visitor & it is honestly the best chicken Pattie in Brooklyn! I order the Jerk chicken Sandwich to stay & the Red Snapper Rice Bowl to go! Beat decision ever. Overall great atmosphere, amazing service & DELICIOUS FOOD! If you haven’t checked out this eatery yet, make it your next move! BunNan is worth every $$$
It was my first time having some of these dishes and I really enjoyed them! My fave of everything was the Plantain Sliders, which absolutely beats regular American sliders!! lol but also special shoutout to the Diri Djon Djon black mushroom rice dish, YUM!! The process of extracting the mushroom flavor to make the rice is just chef's kiss. The Haitian Pizza with Pork was also phenomenal!! Hospitality here is fantastic and the vibes are great. Plenty of seating - indoor and backyard. Great spot in the heart of Little Haiti!!
The atmosphere and overall vibe of the restaurant is nice and chill. Feels like you personally know the staff. Our waiter Jimmy provided great and warm service. Jimmy made sure we were well taken care of by checking in on us from time to time. The food was served quickly and it was good. I ordered the Tasso rice bowl. The portions were nice and large. Would come back here again. And make sure you ask for Jimmy to serve you.
I recently dined at Bunnun, the new Haitian restaurant, and it was an unforgettable experience! From the moment I walked in, the vibrant decor and warm ambiance set the perfect tone. Our server, Jimmy, was outstanding—his knowledge of the menu and genuine enthusiasm for the dishes made our meal even more enjoyable. I highly recommend the Griot and Pikliz; they were bursting with flavor and authenticity. Jimmy's attentive service and friendly demeanor made us feel right at home. Bunnun is a must-visit for anyone looking to explore the rich flavors of Haitian cuisine!
Wow—where do I even begin! I drove down from Long Island with my mom, and the food absolutely lived up to the hype. As a Haitian American, I left so proud! Jimmy provided exceptional service and really made our experience special. My mom ordered the red snapper sandwich and I had the pork sandwich—both were incredible. We also tried a little bit of everything: sweet plantains, goat, a chicken patty, and we ended with the bread pudding. And that passion fruit lemonade? Unreal. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and worth the trip. Amazing experience overall. I highly recommend and will definitely be returning!
My cousin and I chose to dine here as a pre-birthday lunch and left full, satisfied and very impressed. The ambiance, service staff and food were phenomenal. That oxtail pizza has to include Jesus tears as one of its ingredients cuz that's what I wanted to do when I bit into the first slice. Allow me to gather myself real quick. Jimmy was super helpful and attentive as well as the other gentleman (forgive me I don't recall his name). The plantain cups (griot, chicken and tasso) served as an ideal appetizer. They work as a sample portion should you decide to indulge in the sandwich version of them. Everything was washed down with a cup of passion fruit lemonade. It had the right amount of sweetness and ice to balance it out. I liked the decor, music and the bathroom was tidy and smelled good too. I would revisit for the oxtail pizza alone. Don't delay go support this local business and enrich your palate at the same time.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Stellar First Impression From the moment we were looking at the menu outside, Jimmy stepped out and greeted us with the perfect mix of personality and persuasion — honest, welcoming, and confident in the food (and he didn’t lie!). He is certainly an amazing worker kept thinking this is the kind of employee I would want. The salt fish and plantain were amazing, and the breakfast biscuit was so good we ended up getting an extra — that rosemary biscuit is unforgettable. Service was top-notch from start to finish. Warm, attentive, and genuine. Will definitely be back!
Truly stellar food. A beautiful blend of authentic Caribbean flavor and refined, modern presentation. We were treated to a tasting by the owner, and every dish was thoughtful, bold, and balanced. The standout was the jerk chicken slider served on a smashed sweet plantain with marinated shredded red cabbage. Absolutely unforgettable—the smoky heat of the jerk, the caramelized sweetness of the plantain, and the bright crunch of the cabbage came together perfectly. That one bite alone is worth the visit. This place is also ideal for catering and events. The dishes hold their flavor and structure beautifully and present with real style. If you want food that people will remember and talk about, this is it. Cannot recommend highly enough.
BunNan is an absolute gem! The oxtail and pulled chicken sliders, as well as the smoked herring, are simply incredible. They are bursting with flavor, perfectly cooked, and truly unforgettable. The atmosphere is welcoming and filled with good vibes, and Nadege’s energy ties everything together. You can sense that she pours her heart into every detail, from the food to the service. If you’re seeking incredible food and an even better experience, BunNan is the place to go!
EAT HERE ASAP!!! My friend heard about this restaurant on Tiktok and took us there on an NYC daytrip. I’ve had Hatian food before so I was familiar with the slice and flavor and thought this would be a simple lunch outing. Jimmy V, our waiter, was super patient and attendant—helped us pick out appys to try as well. One friend got the Full Size Ti Boush Platter, one got the mini Ti Boush, and my other friend and I got the djon djon rice bowl with jerk chicken. The DJON DJON RICE bowl was so phenomenal, I had to peek into the back kitchen to see who was cooking. I had to PHYSICALLY stop myself from clearing the bowl in 10 minutes. A nurse at a nearby hospital had told us to eat here as soon as we could, because by lunchtime everything was sold out. It did NOT take us long to understand why… To top it all off, the owner came out and spoke to our friend who found her restaurant and we ended lunch with such a nice conversation. BUNNAN 10/10 — Incredible!!
My experience here was very nice pleasant nice restaurant clean aesthetically nostalgic like a vacation. Staff were friendly. Jimmy was my server he was very attentive and friendly. Recommend so much but only have one stomach so i couldn’t get everything lol so I’ll definitely be back. The Haitian hot chocolate was so good. Food was excellent flavor was definitely there. Can’t wait to come back.
I had such a wonderful experience at BunNan, thanks to Jimmy and Race! From the moment I walked in, they were welcoming, attentive, and made me feel right at home. Their energy and professionalism created such a warm and inviting atmosphere. They went above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect, and their genuine hospitality made the visit memorable. The service was seamless friendly, efficient, and thoughtful. Jimmy and Race truly embody what great customer service should be, and they made my dining experience outstanding. I’ll definitely be coming back and recommending BunNan to others because of them!
The food is really good and very authentic. The service is great, Jimmy and Heidi were awesome with great attitudes but I think the restaurant needs more people working at once and the food took almost an hour to come out but it tasted perfect. all the employees worked very hard but I assume there just wasn’t enough people . The atmosphere was pretty cool... They have a nice restaurant, but they definitely need to play the music at a medium level because it was too low when we came in and we didn’t really get the atmosphere experience with low music at first. Other than that service is perfect for the amount of traffic that they had coming in and the food was incredible on all levels.
Venue was nicely decorated and lit appropriately. The first table we were seated at was not clean and we ended up moving to a different table. The air was thick with smoke from the kitchen fryer. Service staff was attentive but a little overbearing at times. Drinks were very limited so we just got sparkling water which was an individual Perrier bottle. The venue had no hot water for tea, and no lemons which is weird. Appetizers: The Red snapper slider on green plantain was okay. It was a great combination of flavors but the snapper was chewy/overcooked. The herring patty was phenomenal. Main: Goat Sandwhich (on green plantain): I was told that it was delicious and had a nice rich, smokey flavor. The red snapper rice bowl was a very large portion size. The djon djon rice was fantastic. The pickliz coupd have been spicier but the green salad was nice and fresh. The snapper was underwhelming...tough and overcooked almost like it had been warmed in a microwave.
Race & Jimmy & Victoria were such a great delight! The service was pretty good and the plating is pretty. The griot was fried hard. The flavor was good and still there but over fried and hard. The red snapper was our favorite, but the best dish was definitely the soup joumou (only served on sunday). I'd definitely recommend.
First time visiting BunNan Haitian Restaurant in Flatbush with a party of nine, and the restaurant was clean and welcoming. Our server, Jimmy, was excellent, friendly, attentive, and very knowledgeable about the menu. Jimmy started us off with plantain chips. The first portion felt a bit small for our group, but the refill was much more satisfying. The appetizers were tasty, and overall the food was flavorful. We ordered the jerk chicken plantain pizza, fried pork plantain pizza, and two oxtail rice bowls. All dishes were delicious; however, the oxtail rice bowl was disappointing. Why? Not due to lack of flavor, but because it lacked meat and had too much bone for the price, which both my husband and I noticed. On a positive note, Jimmy’s recommendation of the plantain bread pudding was spot on and greatly appreciated. His outstanding service, from thoughtful recommendations to promptly clearing the table and being very attentive, really made the experience enjoyable. The great reviews brought us in, and the delicious food and Jimmy’s service may very well bring us back.
Unfortunately, my third visit last night with my brother was very disappointing and honestly a bit embarrassing. Jimmy was completely different this time, very short and flustered due to the influx of customers. Or maybe because we showed up at 9pm. We sat at the bar, we weren’t greeted, He didn’t offer us plantain chips or water, and I had to ask for both. I was also never given utensils. There was no interaction, which was surprising compared to my previous visits with my wife! The most frustrating moment was when jimmy pulled my plate away without even asking if I had finished eating, which felt rushed and inconsiderate. The food was still great, which is why I’m not leaving a one-star review. I’m hoping this was just an off night, and feedback is taken as a learning opportunity. I’ve left great reviews before, but JIMMY definitely could’ve been BETTER! Signed, A repeat customer.
