I got $30 For the most pricey steak they had, n fries, clam chowder, garlic bread, and milk tea. Didnt expect a Chinese place to serve clam chowder but it was as good as a clam chowder ever was.
Me and my husband always had Saturday breakfast there. We love this cafe!! Tasty food, good prices and very friendly and kind stuff.
Great selection for breakfast lunch and dinner. You cant go wrong ordering food from here. Would drive all the way down just to eat here from the Bronx with my friend. Great prices as well.
Thai Iced Tea is crack here. The vibe is amazing. Really family friendly. Seating is nice. Great food. A great place to go to have lunch with friends
Best tea set, hot HK style milk tea and shark's fin soup. Great price and you don't need to spend 20 hours to board & fly to HK and catch Covid 19
This place is the best for Hong Kong fusion food, love their toast, the fake shark fin soup, and their HK style speghetti, I visited this place so many times, not one time they disappoint me. Oh, not to mention, for the price, I would give them a five stars. Nowadays that I move to Queens, I still occasionally drive an hour just to taste their authentic HK food.
Food is yummy. Do not expect 5 star service or atmosphere. It's an authentic Hong Kong styled cafe.
Let me say that this place is usually pretty busy. I personally love the baked chicken cutlet spaghetti. A waffle ice cream goes really well with desserts. I love this place and would come here once in a while.
One of the best HK style restaurants in Brooklyn, decent portions, great flavors and friendly staff.
Ordered beef stew, fries, chicken wings, and more and everything was absolutely delicious!! Felt like we were in heaven! The staff was very nice. I would recommend going here, definitely! 😋😋😋😋
By far the most accurate Hong Kong cafe/restaurant style. They have daily tea time menu from 2pm-6pm for light affordable snacks. They're menu consists of many customizable items and they also offer a Chef's Specialty menu in the store if you know how to read chinese (very much worth the pricing). The waiting staff are very friendly and hardworking. Give it a try if you haven't visited here yet.
Kowloon Cafe is a really good place if you miss Hong Kong Cha Chan Ting food. They taste really local like the local cafe in Hong Kong. They mainly speak Cantonese, but they also know English. I also go there if I miss food from home. Food are affordable and they do take outs as well. The food are pretty quick in general, and service are good as well.
Great service! Great food!
For years, I've been a regular at this restaurant, and my go to meal is the sizzling steak platter with broccoli and fries. The dish also comes with a choice of sauces, making it an absolutely delicious experience. The steak is always cooked to perfection, and the sauces add an extra layer of flavor. I highly recommend this dish to anyone looking for a satisfying and flavorful meal.
I always always come here for breakfast or brunch! They have a special that is always worth it and the combo is less than $8. When me and my husband go we get the same combo meal letter 'E' different dish. We always get congee with rice roll noodles and he gets it with congee and stir fried noodles and we share ! The combo also comes with a drink hot milk tea or hot coffee, but if you get iced or something else its additional cost
Im from hong kong and this is literally the only place in all of nyc that ive tried that lives up to my standards. Got the chicken baked rice, rice noodles with mixed sauce, and hong kong style milk tea. Nothing disappointed. I wanted to gatekeep this place but the world needs to know. Ill be coming back often
its a really nice friendly place. Me and my family come here for dine in / take out every week. The staff are very friendly and always has a smile on their face. The portion is big and the food is just amazing. I suggest everyone who enjoys Cantonese food to give this place a try.
So good! So many of these Hong Kong places popping up but this one is very authentic, great variety menu and great prices. Staff is also wonderful, bartender gave my daughter a handmade horse, so kind. Will be back soon!
After reading a couple of reviews I was hesitant but honestly the food was great. Wings are a must. I got the baked spaguetti with chicken. Portions are good and the garlic sauce is great! Price is not expensive and the service is quick.
This is a very low-key Hong Kong Cafe, though the interior is definitely aged. The food however is great, prices are super affordable, can grab some classic dishes that really hit the spot. Try out the bitter melon with beef over rice, that definitely soothes the soul and gives you major Chinese street cred. On a more serious note, it's a very simple spot to just grab a bite at though definitely not a date spot.
[SEP 2023] Still doesn’t disappoint. Love the breakfast combos. [Jan 2020] Pretty full venue on a weekend around 11a. Came here multiple times earlier this year because the food is so good!! Service was good and food came out quick! [COVID-19] The venue closed in March and it took a while for it to open back up. Glad to see it’s open again. No outdoor dining—not enough space and so much noise pollution from the D train station. Order for take out ^—-^ [FOOD] The wonton noodle soup is delicious! It comes pretty close to my fave place in Chinatown (Noodle Village). The dish is so large that I took the leftovers home. I also got the Club Sandwich Special because they had a nice photo on the wall and I was staring at it. It might look simple, but it was very yummy. The bread is toasty, just the right amount of mayo, nothing falls apart... [DRINK] HK milk tea here is 💯
I rarely leave Google reviews but I loved this place so much that I feel have to. I haven't come here in MANY years and I finally came here again for the first time last week and honestly I'm blown away by what I've been missing out on. Amazing food - so far we've tried the baked portuguese chicken, shrimp wonton lo mein, fried fish with cream corn, curry fish balls, kowloon toast and sweet and sour pork - everything was a HIT. I love both their hong kong style milk tea and their coffee w. milk tea that I tried. Hoping to try more menu items soon! Honestly, if you're on the fence about going here, just go! We were looking for good cantonese food and were planning to go to a different place originally but I wasn't feeling the other place and so suggested trying this one instead on a whim and it was the best decision!
My favorites are the hk cafe basics here. Spam n egg sandwich, French toast, spam n egg Mac in soup, chern fun (steam crepe) with mix sauce (soy sauce, hoisin sauce, n peanut butter sauce). Other dishes are good too, minced beef with half cooked egg sauce over rice or deep fried rice. Hk milk tea is good too. Must try.
Our go to place for dinner. Decent quality HK cafe style food, which is a mix of western (pasta, crepes) and eastern (curry fish balls, beef tripes) style food. My favorite is the crepes, partly because I'm too lazy to make them at home.
Good selection of food but they need to balance the quantity of rice and the food. For instance, ordered sesame chicken w. rice and end up finishing the rice and having some sesame chicken left over.
The spacing here can be a bit cramped. You can still sit comfortably when the cafe is packed, but moving around to leave or talking quietly can be a real pain. In terms of atmosphere, the lighting is dim which seems to elevate it from a run-of-the-mill casual dine-in restaurant. However, as stated, the crowd ranges from teens to families. This can cause a lot of ruckus with the crying babies or the loud teens. The food was enoyable. It has everything a typical chinese cafe would have along with milk tea drinks. Although some dishes or sides seemed a bit on the smaller side for the price (the tripe dish had cabages on the bottom to "fluff" up the volume, for example), it is by no means expensive. Overall it is another chinese eatery that anyone would enjoy. I will definitely come again to try the other dishes.
My gf and I went here for dinner. We ordered things mutual friends suggested and they all came out amazing. The only concern or issue I had during my visit was lack of service and had to really get the waiters attention because the eye contact wasn’t there.
Baked ox tail spaghetti is delicious! Almost the only thing I get here haha. The boba is pretty good too. My friends have tried the mabo tofu and were pretty pleased. It's a popular spot among locals.
Here's a place for Western Hong Kong cuisine. It's Been around since back in the early 2000's. The condensed milk toast. Baked pork chop with spaghetti. Can't go wrong here.
The noodles with mix sauce and a hot hk milk tea, sometimes add the curry fish balls too for a perfect snack/lunch.
I used to heavy endorse this spot but has fallen off in recent years due to other restaurants moving in and just being tasty, fresher and cheaper. Good HK style cafe, and still the best iced coffee tea mixed drink.
Mannnnn, they really only do one thing -- HK food, and they do it well enough. They have an extremely cheap breakfast special. I usually get instant noodles with egg and spam. If you dislike egg whites being undercooked... don't come here. They tend to undercook it. The porridge is decent and the stir fried noodles are pretty ok. Their baked rice is delicious, though the tomato sauce with chicken is probably my favorite of them. I love their imitation shark fin soup -- flavorful, packed with ingredients. Iced Milk Tea is delicious, wonderfully bold and milky. I like their food. I don't mind coming here. Service is pretty decent, probably better if you can speak Cantonese.
Always a good experience here. Prices are always affordable, food comes fast. Just came back from a Hong Kong vacation and this place brings back good memories :) western influenced Chinese food. Definitely enjoyable for all
One of my favorite cheap eats spots. The prices here are unbelievable and it really frees you up to go wild when ordering. I love their baked rice/noodle dishes, especially the pork chop
bought afternoon snacks, it's not bad. However, i'm a bit bias with this review base on what I know about the type of food serve here. It may not be suited for everyone, but definitely my taste buds taken a liking, recommended try it and judge yourself.
Very good hk style cafe food service with the nostalgic combo A, combo B, combo C, etc menu for breakfast. They even have a afternoon tea time special as well. Food is pretty good and priced reasonably. Great go to for hk cafe style food.
A lot of people said it's not how it used to, but I still like this place personally. The 9loon fried rice and most of the baked rice are delicious. Edit- The bake pork chop rice taste terrible the last time I visited. It was so salty that is almost inedible . - 1 star.
Have been coming here for over 10 years, and the food is as good as ever. It is extremely affordable and is a great spot for a quick bite, lunch, or dinner. If you're not looking to break the bank, I would suggest going there for their sandwiches! The main reason for 4 stars is due to the interior and the lack of renovations. Seats are starting to peel and it looks very unsettling to sit on that while eating. There is a serious need for renovations or to at least update the interior.
A good old tradition of the Hong Kong tea, snack place. This is a great spot for breakfast.. They have HK style milk tea and rice rolls. Family friendly. Favorites are breakfast specials, cheap alternative to rising diner prices, minced beef and green pea over rice, linguine.
Haven't been back here for years till now. Food still the same. My children craved their pasta with ham soup and butter condensed milk toast. Food is still good, following HK tradition. Not sure when they renovated, but glad they got rid of the carpet. Our family still like this place. 🙂
We have been coming here since they opened over 10 years ago, and now they have renovated and given the place a nice refresh. Gone are the dirty carpet and warn out decor. People are back in large volume, though they never lost their customer base. The important thing, food is still good and still at a bargain. There is variety for the old school Kowloon flavor and for the new generations. My favorite is the beef stew with wonton over noodles, any noodles. Morning and afternoon combos are appropriately portioned and priced.
I like the pasta I had, a bit too oily but it's fine. The waiters were nice to recommend items. I was introduced to this place by my aunt and now I'll be back there for my brother's birthday soon.
This place is a ok place but one of the waiters was so rude! He didn't give us napkins and when we asked he rolled his eyes and cursed in Chinese. The food was good but it took about 30 minutes
Stereotypical Hong Kong style place with reasonable prices in today’s economy. Place is decent sized but packs quickly during lunch and dinner service. We ordered: 1) chicken gizzard- decent but lacking flavor and chewy. I’ve had better 2) fried chicken skin- not bad oily 3) Kowloon fried rice- very good and kind of spicy 4) stir string beans- decent 5) peanut butter toast with condense milk- okay 6) pork belly with preserved veggies- really good and done well 7) Chinese cheng fan assortment- nice and bouncy noodles 8) beef and egg chow fun- good “wok hei” on the noodles and good flavor. Best dish 9) oyster pancake- oyster didn’t taste fresh and pancake could have been cooked longer 10) sautéed eggplant garlic sauce- flavorful and not too salty 11) Portuguese chicken spaghetti- second best dish with authentic flavor Will definitely stop by again to try out the rest of the menu. The servers were typical HK waiters- so don’t expect exceptional customer service just above being rude- but it’s understandable.
Good Hong Kong style Cabinets food. Plenty of seating even on a Saturday night. I was a little sad they were out of flat rice noodles (chow Fun) so we got to stir fried tofu and vegetable with vermicelli rice noodle (mai fun). I got excellent, especially when paired with bitter melon with black bean sauce. Waiters were excellent, kept checking on us with hot tea. I had to run down the back to buy a beer cuz they don't have a license. Food paired nicely with a Modelo Especial.
Came here with my friends for lunch, and we had a good time. Pretty tasty baked porkchop with tomato sauce (on the more sweeter side). Great portions, perfect for family style with friends to try a bit of everything. The sizzling steak platter was delicious and comes with broccoli and fries. The bread with condensed milk was a bit sad, though 😕 just toasted burger buns with drizzled condensed milk. Great HK breakfast at a very good price.
We have been eating in this cafe very often before the pandemic, but now it is much better. It is less crowded than before pandemic time. I like the fact that they use plastic shields to separate each group. Food quality was good and food portion was big. Lots of Authentic HK style dishes. The waiters are more attentive and prompt compared to the past.
Food is very so so. Not worth the calories. Would only order the oxtail again. I like their drinks (hong kong milk tea and 1/2 coffee/tea drink) since they have a strong tea taste but the service is so bad I can't give them more than 3 stars :/
Hong Kong Cuisine, i always order Kowloon Cafe soup, is tasty. The servers is friendly. Overall is medium average of the foods taste.
Food and service was fine. The issue was the AC or lack of enough power. Customers are sweating as well as all the servers. Owner or management needs to get on top of that. It's the middle of summer, crank it up.
Good use to be super amazing here a few years ago. After all these years, its quite obvious the food has downgraded and portions have gotten smaller. I do however like the toasted pineapple bread with condensed milk. Yum!
There is a wide variety of typical Hong Kong cafe choices on the menu, which was good to see when you are craving some Chinese comfort food. Service was pretty good; we had a nice waiter. The interior was clean and spacious. You'd definitely feel comfortable here. The food was okay; the pan fried noodles with beef was a bit lacking in flavor, although it looked really good. The beef was a little on the tough side. The Portuguese chicken over rice was average.
We come here once in a while for its relatively big menu. It has a lot of choices. Today we came to have breakfast. The portion is a little bit small and the two of us ordered 3 breakfast combos. The milk tea is ok - I would prefer less milk. The tomato beef macaroni and the satay beef instant noodle are ok.
I was really expecting my usual Hong Kong authentic cafe (茶餐廳/Cha Chang Tang) but it was a bit disappointing. The afternoon tea set was reasonably priced with a drink - red bean ice drink (it’s included in one of the set and you can’t change it to other drinks). I ordered the chicken leg w fries and red bean ice. The chicken leg was huge but the meat quality was not what I was looking for. I would rather choose a smaller leg with nice dark meat than a large one. The red bean was too milky without much red bean taste. The satay beef noodle was soso. The beef was cut too thick and we normally don’t add green leaves (gai lan) on top but I guess it’s a local American style to add veg. The taste is half way there, but I wish the sauce and beef can improve. The Portuguese chicken was ok. I just feel like the cheese was somehow different and perhaps too much.
To determine if a restaurant is good, try their beef chow fun, it should be dry, charred and not oily, what I received was not the case, and total opposite, disappointing meal. It’s busy bc they do have a lot of variety where it can cater to the entire family from young to old, one would find something form the menu, price is fair overall. Didn’t like the lighting and the changing light above the tables though, from blue to purple during the whole time, outdated. Had the salt and pepper squid as well, it was fresh so that was a plus.
Why are takeout portions significantly smaller than dine-in? Raising prices is one thing, but cutting portions at the same time? That’s unacceptable.
Visited again but this time they over cooked my steak. They offered to cook new one but I didn't want to waste it. So I took an IOU hope they don't reneg on their promise.
food is good for the price but service is next to non existent and they force you to tip for the service with no hospitality 🤣
their delivery driver got mad we tipped 15% when they took 40 mins to arrive when we live only 5 mins away. ridiculous for people to get angry when you give them extra money
Poor service. Staff stand all the way to the kitchen. Food deliver to table in balance. Came as 2 people and one would finished eating and the other person's food still not out. Drinks are given in the middle of eating would it should be after placing an order.
Guy at the front was very testy with us; understandable though, as it was 20 minutes before closing. Got our food pretty fast and found out at home that there was about 3 oz of meat between the two entrees, explaining the speed. This kind of shrinkage and service is disappointing considering that this place has been good to us in the past.
Came here once and not really a fan of just because the food did not meet my expectations. Ordered baked chicken chop over spaghetti and for some reason, it just tasted different. The spaghetti was cold and clumped up, the sauce was really bright red, sort of neon-like tomato sauce (kind of weird if you think about it), and I went home feeling sick afterwards. I must say though that they do have pretty good bargain lunch deals, but after my first experience, I'm not sure if I'll come back for more. =/
Some food was okay like the wings, and the fried noodles. The wontons were bad, they had a weird taste to them. The milk tea was way too sweet. The hot tea was basically just water. The worst part was the service. We left the restaurant already and were chased for more tip even though we already gave a tip. When ordering they asked what type of sause we wanted for a dish but the menu did not list them and he just expected us to know what they had. Been to a few casual Hong Kong style cafes in nyc and this is so far the worst.
Disappointed to detect the taste of borax in the meat—it’s clear a strong chemical was used for tenderization. The onion sauce was an odd mix of mystery flavors, resembling meat sauce or gravy with some onions thrown in. The pasta was plain, just hard-boiled with no seasoning. The atmosphere inside was chaotic and loud, filled with teenagers looking for a cheap, filling meal, and families with young children—lots of crying in the background. If you’re someone with little to no standards for food, this might be your spot to get full for the day. The meal itself was average at best, likely below average. Tho the Hong Kong style milk tea was done pretty well. On a positive note, the boss was welcoming, and the staff were decent. They seemed to be students just working for a paycheck and a free meal.
I was incredibly disappointed with my experience here. The tomato-based baked ziti pasta was disgusting — super sweet to the point of tasting like sugar. I ate the cheese off the top and the rest was inedible. Straight up disgusting.
The waiters servicing are horrible and serve me the wrong foods refused to exchange. Placed 5 orders and last one did not come until all finished. Asking extra set of utensils. The waiter told me I don't need it. The foods are not as good as usual to be.
⚠️They SCAM customers. Gave the lady owner w glasses $10 for a drink and she claimed I gave her $5…. I never carry $5 bills in the back of my phone. I told her but she denied it. I left bc I didn’t want to argue and waste time.. DISHONEST. BE AWARE. Go to Ting Fai instead a few blocks down if you want HK food. Better food, customer service, and they don’t scam you… 😑
suck service i haven't seen, The server kept chatting and ignored us
Good food but wish they wouldn't hide their "C" grade behind the door and just improve their food safety.
Awful customer service and awful food. Waiters and waitresses made fun of my family and I as we were leaving cause of what we ordered for lunch. They either thought we wouldn't understand what they are saying or that we're out of earshot. When I confronted the cashier lady at the front, she kept insisting that nothing is wrong. Then said she "oh the kitchen isn't suppose to make what you request". I guess it is a crime to have eggplant and beef with spicy sauce over rice. I mean, our server said it was possible so I still have no idea what was so funny among the rude servers.
Ordered take out Chicken & Salty fish fried rice. Turned out it has no salty fish in it!! The rice has no taste at all. Only chicken & rice. And charged $9 for it! That's SCAM! Wish I can give 0 star! I'll never go back again. Jin Jin is so much better.
The female staff i dont know her name was terrible. I ordered 4 orders of beef tribe and 2 orders of salt and pepperchicken wings and I REPEATED my order 3 times. When I came for my pick up I realized they messed up my order. Instead of salt and pepper chicken wings, they gave me saly andpepper squid. So I said this is not my order. And the staff who took my order she gave me an attitude and told me that she repeated saying squid and I said it is correct so she put the order. I responded NO, i repeated myself three times my order and i clearly said SALT AND PEPPER CHICKEN WINGS. Not only did she not apologize or so she even said in front of me in chinese to other staff if I request an exchange to put my order last after everyones order. And then she turned back to me and told me in english if i want an exchange I will have to wait for it. This was not the first time someone there had put me through the wrong order but the other times I was treated with respect and not total rudeness. This staff thought i didnt understand chinese, but i do spea and understand it fully. At the end I was charged for the order thwt I was not satisfied with because the food was already made. Insteadof arguing logic with her I just took my order and left for the bus. Not going to come back anytime soon. I hope their customer service will improve because I am not going to go back there with such rudeness.
The food was passable, and the service was basic at best. But what truly shocked me was when the server demanded extra tips, even though we had already tipped 10%. As I took out my wallet and began counting my money, the server brazenly grabbed it right out of my hand and walked away. Is this how customers are treated, or is this some form of daylight robbery? Already reported to 311 for this incident.
I normally don’t give 1 stars as I know the industry is tough. But you can imagine my surprise when asking for a 奶茶(milk tea) and what gets placed in front of me is a cup of milk with a tea bar sitting inside of it. Apparently, this HK Cafe serves 奶茶 as regular milk and tea by default. When asked if I can get HK milk tea the waiter said I already ordered it and can’t bring it back even though I didn’t take a single sip out of it. How much could a tea bag cost… I was also reassured that it wasn’t just me that made the confusion the table beside me also ordered a milk tea and was very verbally confused as well. This is a first where at a HK cafe where milk tea means a tea bag sitting inside a cup of milk for anybody. At least make it explicit before ordering to avoid confusion cause obviously all customers at a cha chan tang expect Hong Kong milk tea. Despite the delusional drink mix up every single dish was just concentrated with either salt or sugar. My macaroni soup tasted like the sea and the lemon honey beverage that my girlfriend ordered was just pure sugar. For the price and service, it was the worst I’ve had in a long time.
