Great restaurant! Everyone was very welcoming and kind. Said took our order and did a wonderful job. We’ll definitely be coming back!
Oh boy, what a delicious encounter! For a very reasonable price, authentic Russian food is served to you with life music in an outdoor patio. Loved it! I'll definitely come back. $3 huge bread loaf, samsa, cheburek, lagman soup, uzbek plov, lamb 🐑 and chicken 🐔 skewers. 🤤🤤🤤 We got some compote as beverage. It reminded of the one my granny used to make for me when I was a kid.
Skirt steak salad, cheburek, cherry dumplings, wine. Food was delicious, service very hospitable. Thank you, we had a beautiful evening. Highly recommend
Narjis was a great experience and Sahid was a wonderful server. The food was great, atmosphere was perfect upstairs for our group of eight. I would rush back asap
This was my first time dining in after relocation and renovation. Let me tell you, THIS PLACE IS AMAZING!!!! If there was a 100 stars review, it would’ve received 100 stars. The atmosphere was delightful. The food was so delicious and affordable. The customer service outstanding. This is gem in concrete jungle! I highly recommend this place if you want to eat kebabs and fresh salads! Thank you Cafe Nargis for this great experience!
This restaurant is truly extraordinary. From the moment you walk in, you’re welcomed with warmth and professionalism. The service here is easily among the best I’ve experienced in New York City. Although their Google rating may not reflect it, don’t be misled. I’ve been to many places in the city with higher ratings that offer far less in terms of quality and hospitality. This restaurant stands out not just for its excellent food, but especially for the way the staff treats every guest with genuine care and attention. I strongly encourage you to try it for yourself. You’ll quickly see why I believe they provide the best service in town. A hidden gem that deserves much more recognition.
Five stars are always tricky. Have to level-set with expectations. This is a small and great Uzbeki-ish restaurant. We tested a couple main dishes - plov was very right, everything and more than we expected. Ox-tail was fantastic too. Apps didn't disappoint either. If you are looking for a medium casual eastern-uzbeki-non-western-mongolian food place - this place is right. Bottom line: no matter what you get - it will not disappoint.
We go there often, great food. When it's a little busy it can be hard to get a hold of a waiter to order something else once the food is brought, and no one refills your water automatically. However, on a slow night there is no issues. 5/5. The Uzbek bread is great and cheap, creme bruleee is amazing.
I ordered today delivery for lunch everything came on time, food was well packed and very tasty, all my guests were happy Diana was very nice over the phone, she took our order and recommended lamb kebab, it was delicious
Took forever to get around to this review. This place enjoys proximity to city highlights. The service was quick, capable, and pleasant. Their kitchen balances quality and quantity perfectly. I confidently back staff who deliver this quality.
The service was excellent, though I unfortunately didn’t catch our waiter’s name. He was helpful, knowledgeable, and attentive. The atmosphere is stylish and perfect for fine dining. The food was amazing, as were the wines. To be honest, everything was perfect—I didn’t expect it to be this good. Highly recommend, and we will definitely be back! Thank you!
I had an amazing experience at Nazgi’s Restaurant in Brooklyn! The food was absolutely delicious every dish was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. From the appetizers to the dessert, you can tell that everything is made with love and care. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, making it a perfect spot for a relaxed meal. But what truly made the night special was our server, ALEX. He was by far the best server I’ve ever had incredibly attentive, kind, and knowledgeable about the menu. He made us feel genuinely welcome and took the time to ensure every detail of our meal was perfect. His recommendations were spot on, and his positive energy really added to the experience. If you’re in Brooklyn and looking for authentic, mouthwatering food with top notch service, Nazgi’s is the place to go. I’ll definitely be coming back!
Very friendly and efficient staff. The food and the ambience are worth the trek for the location. You definitely want to ask your wait staff to stagger your meals, otherwise your starters and entrees will come back to back. Efficiency!!! I had the Lamb Shank and it was tender and delicious. You'll definitely leave satisfied. Strongly recommend!
Dining in Nargis was a spectacular experience! The service was top notch, we got seated right away and the staff were super kind although they were busy. The food was amazing, great lamb and great vegetables. Very nicely put together. Atmosphere was also clean and pretty. Definitely recommend
It's rare to find authentic Uzbek food around, and this place not only has it, but it is very tasty as well! Iordered the Traditional Uzbek Plov which is a classic Uzbek dish with rice, mixed lamb and beef, carrots, and chickpeas. The rice was a bit on the oily side but very flavorful and tasty still. The carrots were surprisingly soft in a good way. The lamb and beef were pretty good.
I knew that Nargis always been popular in the area and especially for their meat. Since I m not a big meat eater, I never had a great desire to go to this place until one day, my sister came over to the area and asked where she could find good authentic shshlyk ( kebab). So it was the place I offered to go. I checked the menu before to go and was happy that I could order some fish. But when we got there it smelled so good so I changed my mind quickly. We ordered lamb and beef kebabs, some grilled vegetables, and salads. Meat was absolutely delicious, especially beef kebab! The service was great. Waiters are very helpful with their recommendations to choose dishes. It is nice that you are allowed to bring your wine. They moved to the new location somewhere after covid times, i believe, and it looks very cozy and cute, but modern, not like the old place, which looked like USSR stolovaya( buffet). Also, the menu is so big and they offer much more than meat and kebabs including a lot of fish dishes, shrimp, tuna tartare, eggs Benedict, different types of soups etc And some of those other options I m going to try next time at this place.
We had dinner here for the first time with friends, and I have to say—this is now our new go-to family spot! We tried the plov, shurpa, lagman, and lamb kebab, and everything was absolutely delicious. But I have to give special praise to the kebab—the meat was so tender it just melted in my mouth. Honestly, this might be the best kebab I’ve ever had! Apart from the amazing food, we also loved the atmosphere—the cozy dim lighting and great music made the experience even better. It’s the perfect place to enjoy a nice, relaxing dinner. Huge thanks to the chef—we’ll definitely be coming back regularly! P.S. It was so good that I completely forgot to take pictures until we had almost finished everything. The only photo I managed to get was of the kebab! 😄
We had such a wonderful time! The food was amazing, but what really made our visit so special was our server, Said. He’s such an attentive and hard-working young man, always making sure everything was just right. His kindness and genuine care made us feel so welcome—it really made the evening memorable. Thank you!
What a fabulous experience. It has this vibe of walking into the most expensive place in NYC met with top notch food, friendly waitstaff, and gorgeous environment. 🔥
The menu offers items that consistently work well. The entire team provided kindness and guidance. This place stands among the best I've tried. The food quality remains high and the environment feels special. The dishes appear tasty before trying.
An incredible experience - right in my neighborhood. Five stars? How about 15? Over many years, I have been to so many restaurants, and this is probably one of the best experiences I have had. I go out every night to great places. These people have nailed every detail of a fabulous restaurant. I was first drawn in because I heard there was a saxophone player Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Saturday. Little did I know that it was my favorite guy, Zaur. So obvious that the restaurant owners have put so much energy into making it the perfect place. The food is incredible; the service is impeccable; totally clean; beautifully decorated; atmosphere incredible. Of course, I LOVE the saxophone player. A most wonderful experience. I am bringing all of my friends here.❤️🙂 the great place I love this place
We celebrated my niece’s 4th birthday at this Uzbek restaurant, and overall it was a wonderful experience. The food was absolutely delicious and the salads were super fresh. We did run into a small issue with the lamb chops being undercooked, but the staff handled it quickly and professionally, which I really appreciated. The only real downside had nothing to do with the restaurant itself but with the table next to us. One of the women there kept rolling her eyes at the kids and even asked them not to come near their table. Honestly, if you dislike being around children that much, maybe order delivery and enjoy your meal at home instead of ruining the vibe for others. That aside, we had a great time and would definitely come back for the food and warm atmosphere.
Their food and ambience is really good but their service is unusual! They brought the appetizer and food randomly. The main dishes arrived at different times and one of our friend got his food way later than everyone else at the table. Why don't they bring the food for a table all together?!! But we will go back again, if we get the chance. Hopefully with a bit better planned service.
Hands down the best spot we hit as the new year just started. We were driving around the neighborhood and looking for food when Nargis came into our sights. Cozy atmosphere to start; food was superbly delectable, the beef kebab was so tender and squid ink pasta gave us the creamiest bites ever; Naz was our waitress who provided a really nice service. We both loved this place and decided that we’ll def come back!
⸻ Amazing Experience at Nargis! Nargis is an absolute gem! From the moment you step inside, you’re welcomed with a warm and inviting atmosphere. The food here is simply outstanding—every dish is bursting with rich flavors and authenticity. But the real star of the show is Valentina, the incredible bartender. Her craft cocktails are nothing short of perfection. She mixes drinks with such skill and creativity that each sip feels like a masterpiece. Whether you’re in the mood for a classic cocktail or something unique, Valentina will exceed your expectations. If you’re looking for a place with top-notch cuisine, exceptional drinks, and a fantastic ambiance, Nargis is the place to be. Highly recommend!
We came with a small group of friends for breakfast and ordered a Spanish omelet and coffee. I've never had a better omelet in my life. We thoroughly enjoyed it and plan to come back for dinner on the weekend. Excellent service, everything was fast and polite. I recommend it!
We recently had the pleasure of dining at "Nargis," the Uzbek restaurant that relocated from Coney Island. Let me start by saying that it was truly a fantastic experience from start to finish. First and foremost, the quality of the food and service remains outstanding. The flavors and authenticity of the Uzbek cuisine were simply exquisite. Every dish we tried was a delightful explosion of flavors, leaving our taste buds dancing with joy. The attention to detail in the preparation and presentation was remarkable. Additionally, the new location brought a refreshing twist to the restaurant's decor. The ambiance was warm, inviting, and stylish, creating a pleasant atmosphere for a memorable evening. The staff was attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable, ensuring that our dining experience was top-notch. I must commend the team at "Nargis" for their seamless transition to the new location while maintaining the high standards they were known for. It's evident that they have put a lot of effort into creating a welcoming and enjoyable dining experience for their guests. To anyone looking to explore the flavors of Uzbek cuisine, I highly recommend visiting "Nargis." You won't be disappointed! Best of luck to the restaurant in their new venture! Yours PrintingForU
Thank you Nargis for an excellent birthday celebration! The best entrees were plov and lamb chops. The salads were delicious with many different options. And the dessert was excellent. The staff was so nice, I couldn't have asked for a better experience! I will come back for the brunch menu and coffee, which I heard is excellent.
We heard about this restaurant from a friend. The food was great! We had the cabbage salad, borscht, and an omelette for brunch. The compote juice was also really good and clearly made fresh. The menu is huge with lots of interesting dishes featuring a lot of beef or lamb. However, I’m a vegetarian and found plenty of things to try. They also have lots of kid-friendly options like pizza, pasta, and chicken fingers. We even ordered two more entrees to take home and have for dinner. We were told their kebabs are what they’re known for and plan to come back to try them!
We have been coming to Nargiz for years and I've meant to review it for ALL the years we've been going there. The only problem is that we love the food so much that halfway through the meal, I realize that I forgot to take pictures of the dishes, once again! Nargis is a Uzbek restaurant and offers many wonderful dishes from the Uzbeck cuisine. Every dish is beautifully prepared and perfectly seasoned with amazing flavors. If you are not in the mood for Uzbek food, they also offer many dishes from Russian, American, and French cuisine. No matter what we've ordered, it has always been delicious!! ( Flat bread with truffle sauce and cheese, steamed manti with meat and crepes with apples are NOT to be missed!!) Their new location is chic and modern. The staff is pleasant, attentive and always makes us feel like family! If you are visiting Brooklyn, you definitely need to visit Nargis! Highly recommend!
This is my favorite place to go when I want to have a comforting and yummy meal. The service was amazing , our server was Eric, he was so attentive and sweet and gave the best recommendations. Honestly his service made this experience so great! I tried items on the menu I never thought of before, so definitely have him as your server if possible!
We have dinner here with friends several times a month. We always order the Tashkent and Nargis salads and, of course, the pilaf. The atmosphere and service are excellent. It's probably the best restaurant in my neighborhood.
Last time I had chicken or lamb kabob (шашлык) this good was back in Central Asia. Their bread (лепешки) and meat pastry (самса) are always warm and fresh. I've been here 4 times now, always excellent service and reasonable prices! One caution, be prepared to go into a food comma as it is impossible to stop eating all the delicious food. Fantastic/Отличное place!
Omg, thank you so much, everyone! It was sooo good!🤤The food, the service, the atmosphere! Everything was top notch! I’ll definitely be coming back and bringing friends with me! I’ll also be recommending this place to all my friends!☺️A special thank-you to Sasha - she made the whole experience incredibly smooth, comfortable, and warm!❤️
Great choice for an elevated experience with Uzbek cuisine. The front room was much more bright and airy, the back looked darker and more club-like. There was pleasant jazz playing throughout. I had the Nargis Salad, which was like a really great cole slaw minus the mayo. And the pumpkin manti were just perfect. The pumpkin perfectly diced and not mushy, and the skins on the dumplings were sturdy enough to keep together but thin enough not to distract too much from the filling or make you feel guilty. My server was lovely and had a great smile along with excellent recommendations on the menu. Recommend!
A very high end cozy look and feel , but with very kind staff, delicious comforting food and good value. If you want to impress your date or just have a nice time out come try it out here . I will definitely be going back . They have large booths and small tables for a variety of party size.
This was my first time here and I am totally amazed! I like russian and uzbek cuisine a lot, the menu is not very big but everything was very tasty and prises are affordable. Manti with pumpkin is the only thing which tasted differently from what I got used to in my home country. Baklava is definitely must-try if you like this turkish sweet! Special thanks to our server. Very attentive, quick, professional. Atmosphere is nice and authentic. We booked a table for three in advance on Sunday and it was a good decision as it was pretty busy.
I had never been here before, but wow—what an amazing experience! The food was absolutely delicious. I enjoyed borscht and lamb kebab dining in and also took home some kebabs (chicken, lamb, and beef) for my American husband to try. Everything was incredibly tasty, and even after reheating the kebabs at home, they were just as amazing! The presentation was lovely, and honestly, my grandmother might be a little jealous about this borscht. The service was also exceptional—very welcoming and attentive. I believe Daniele took care of my order (apologies if I got the name wrong!), but the service was quick and efficient. I hadn’t heard of this place before and always thought I’d need to go deeper into Brighton for good Russian-Uzbek food. But this place proved me wrong with its outstanding food and service! The interior design surprised me too. At first, I thought it was just a small spot, but discovering the spacious area in the back was a pleasant surprise. Good luck to you guys! I’ll definitely be back soon.
Came here for brunch and for dinner, the service was very attentive (including making sure special requests for the meals were adhered to), the atmosphere is romantically cozy, and the food was sublime!! Eggs Benedict with smoked salmon for brunch were the best I had in a long time, the salads were tasty and fresh, and the lamb shank was melt-in-your-mouth soft and juicy. We didn’t get a chance to try dessert but the options looked delicious. You should also get the bread if dining here. 10/10
I was very delighted with my experience. Their food is a must try!! Especially the hot appetizers are great. Definitely will be making this place my regular. Big thanks to the chefs, couldn’t be better than this! The service is a cherry on top, everyone serves with a smile on and a good humor, they made us feel welcome. Thank you
"A total hidden gem! The atmosphere is incredibly cozy, and the food is authentic and bursting with flavor. Don’t miss the [Beshbarmak, kebab platter, lobster bisque and deserts]—they were divine!" An upscale dining experience from start to finish. The service was impeccable and the presentation of the dishes was artful. A sophisticated spot perfect for special occasions."
Had takeout and was pleasantly surprised with the quality of the food. It was packaged compactly and neatly. They also provided utensils without having to ask for it - nowadays you have to ask for utensils, and of course the food was flavorful and delicious. The lamb kebabs were juicy and tender. The chicken tabaka was perfectly cooked with robust garlic and dill flavors 😋 10/10 would totally recommend!
Absolutely loved Nargis in Brooklyn! Everything about this place feels warm and welcoming, truly like being at home. The borscht was outstanding — rich, flavorful, and incredibly comforting. The fresh vegetable salad was crisp and refreshing, and the tiramisu was light, delicate, and perfectly balanced. We were also visiting with our dog, who is currently in training to become a service dog, and we were so grateful that the staff kindly allowed us to dine with her. Everything went smoothly, and the team was incredibly understanding and welcoming. The atmosphere is cozy and relaxed — a place you genuinely want to come back to. Highly recommend!
Presently Surprised with a nice Atmosphere, music on the first floor. Everything is very nice: very polite service, diverse menu, Pleasant for business meeting or family gathering or even celebration. They have many seating arrangements to accommodate even bigger parties.
Our favorite restaurant in Sheepshead Bay! The food is amazing and never disappoints. Quality and taste is always consistent. The ambiance is perfect for dinner with soft music playing in the background and the servers are always attentive. There are variety of dishes on the menu which is a huge plus! Everything is always fresh and delicious. A perfect place for a casual celebration or just to spend quality time with your family without any distractions!
Absolutely exceptional experience at Nargis Cafe! The food is outstanding — every dish is bursting with rich, authentic flavor, perfectly seasoned and cooked with real skill. You can taste the quality in every bite. The service is truly impressive: friendly, fast, attentive, and welcoming. The staff makes you feel like a valued guest from the moment you walk in. The atmosphere is cozy, warm, and inviting — a perfect place for a relaxed dinner, a date, or a night out with friends. This place has everything: amazing food, amazing people, amazing vibes. One of the best restaurants in the area. Highly, highly recommend! Thank you Nargis ! See you soon 🫶
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Absolutely loved my experience at Nargis Cafe in Sheepshead Bay! The food was bursting with flavor — perfectly seasoned, fresh, and beautifully presented. The service was warm and attentive, and the atmosphere felt so inviting — cozy yet vibrant. Whether you’re going for a casual dinner or a night out with friends, Nargis never disappoints. Definitely one of Brooklyn’s gems!
Nargis Cafe is our absolute favorite restaurant! My boyfriend and I go there all the time — for lunch or dinner, almost every week. We’ve never found a better place than this one! The food is always fresh, delicious, and served in big portions. Everything tastes amazing — you can really feel the quality in every dish. The service is excellent too. Everyone is so friendly and respectful. During Ramadan, they even asked if we were fasting and kindly brought us dates and water as a compliment — such a thoughtful gesture! When it was time to eat, they brought our food right away. What’s also great is the variety — it’s not only food from Muslim countries like Uzbekistan and Tajikistan, but also Russian and Ukrainian dishes. There’s something for everyone, so you can always find something you’ll love. The atmosphere is cozy, the food is perfect, and the whole experience is always wonderful. Nargis Cafe truly feels like our go-to spot. Highly recommend! ❤️
We came with my family to celebrate my dad’s birthday. All the food was delicious, the atmosphere was great, a soft music playing was not so loud and was not annoying. All the staff was very polite and grateful. Said, who served our table, did his job perfectly! We’ll definitely come back another day to have super tasty kebab, manti and salads!
The most delicious and flavorefull food. The presentation is also amazing. Service is impecable, everyone is extremely professional, helpful and friendly. We go often because the atmosphere is so nice and inviting as well as the food is out of this world. The only downside is- priece of coktails. So extremely expensive!
Went on a date with my wife to Nargiz and absolutely loved it! We had roasted eggplant, a fresh salad, warm bread, and then the Uzbek plov. The salad tasted just like homemade, the bread was soft and delicious, and the plov was simply amazing – perfectly balanced with a gentle sweetness from the raisins. One of the best we’ve ever tried. Cozy atmosphere, wonderful food. Highly recommend, especially the plov!
Nargis Cafe is the kind of spot that turns dinner into a little journey. With warm lights, a cosmopolitan vibe, and the scent of spices in the air, you’re in Brooklyn but your taste buds are in Central Asia. The manti arrive steaming, the kebabs are juicy, and every dish has that perfect mix of comfort and discovery that makes you think, “I’m coming back.” Ideal for a night out with friends, especially in the covered patio where time slows down and conversations last as long as the final sip of mint tea.
We were longtime patrons of the original Nargiz Cafe on Coney Island Avenue and always appreciated its authentic charm and flavorful cuisine. This was our first time visiting the newer location in the heart of Sheepshead Bay, and overall, it was a very enjoyable experience. The restaurant features a spacious main dining area on the first floor. Although the second-floor dining space was reserved for a private event during our visit, we appreciated that the facility includes an elevator, making it accessible for guests who may not be able to use stairs. The interior blends modern elegance with tasteful nods to Uzbek culture, creating a warm and stylish ambiance. As someone originally from Tashkent, I’m very familiar with traditional Uzbek cuisine, and I was impressed by the creative menu, which puts a modern twist on classic Uzbek, Russian, and Ukrainian dishes. Each dish was thoughtfully presented and full of rich, authentic flavor. One area that could benefit from improvement is the service. Compared to the previous location, this branch appears to be staffed primarily by younger adults, and while they were friendly, the attentiveness and professionalism could be elevated to match the quality of the food and decor. That said, we had a pleasant dining experience and would absolutely recommend Nargiz Cafe to anyone looking to explore Central Asian and Eastern European cuisine in a beautifully designed space. We look forward to returning—and hopefully seeing the upstairs dining next time.
First time trying Uzbek food so take this review with a grain of salt. However, it was absolutely delicious. I came with my Uzbek friend, she ordered the food we tried. We came for lunch so not busy at all, in fact we were the only 2 dining. Service was great, but not sure how it is during busier hours. Atmosphere seems like it would be nice for dinner. Pictured it Uzbek plov and cheburek. Overall great experience.
First time there, but will not be the last. Our waitress Esther was so pleasant and helpful she got us. The joint is so elegant but the prices are down to earth. The wine and liquor selection is vast. Had the most traditional dishes, if those are good then the rest must be great. They were not just good but great. Layman, plov, kebabs and the salad were perfect. Great find.
This is my 2nd time coming here. My first experience was so good that I vowed to come back. At this place, everything is amazing! It's a very lovely restaurant with moody lighting and a cozy atmosphere. We had a lamb soup(shurpa), a lamb and beef soup (lagman), tuna tartare and a whole Uzbek bread for our appetizer. The soups were absolutely amazing and full of flavour. My BF had the beef short rib with mashed potatoes which was delicious. I opted for the grilled Chilean sea bass which left much to be desired. I was quite disappointed as there was no seasoning or salt whatsoever, except a drizzle of balsamic vinegar over the top. I waited quite a while for it, too. Overall I'd still return as everything else was perfect.
This was our first time eating at Nargis and what a pleasant experience it was! We’ve had Mediterranean, Middle Eastern, & Turkish food many times in the past but this is the first time we had Uzbek cuisine. There are some similarities or cross influences I assume, but the food was unique & delicious in its own rights. We had lunch & loved the food (see pictures of what we had & descriptions) we ordered and would definitely come back for more! The atmosphere & ambience was beautiful & clean. The service was very good—the staff were polite & helpful. No complaints overall. Only reasons I didn’t give it 5 stars were minor—our water glasses were not refilled & staff didn’t come by to check if anything was needed as hoped. Something minor but could be improved to make an excellent overall experience. Here’s my TA$TE ratings of Nargis: Taste:5 stars/delicious Ambience: 5 stars/beautiful & clean $: 5 stars/very reasonable Treatment: 4stars/service was very good but can improve on attentiveness Experience: 5 stars/overall experience was great & would definitely come back!
Absolutely Delicious! Upscale place with honest food and employees! This Russian Uzbek restaurant was a hidden gem! The food was absolutely incredible and the service was top-notch. Our server, Siroj, was incredibly knowledgeable and helpful. He explained the menu in detail and made great recommendations. Siroj is an amazing brand ambassador that understands his role in the restaurant! I tried a few dishes I'd never had before and was blown away by the flavors. If you're looking for a unique and delicious dining experience, I highly recommend this place!

Obsessed, a must stop for us when we visit from California. Manti, hanim, kabob, bijbarmak...all amazing. And nice staff.
Been on my list for a long time, amazing food and service. Close to the train.\nHighly recommend the plov.\nAlso the tashkent salad.
I have been a fan of nargis for some time, always a good time , great atmosphere and of course the food is the main event. Always recommend nargis!

Perfect Food would recommend to all people, ambient is also quiet and the places is very clean.\nService was very nice.
I have been ordering from this restaurant for take outs. This time tried to dine in with family and experience the food that way. The downside - There was no social distancing enforced , it was pretty crowded and the tables were close to each other and even though waiters wore masks it still felt unsafe. The hostess who took our order also was not very nice and was confused by our order and instead of being accommodating and saying it's ok was arguing with us that we got it wrong when we told her the order. That unpleasant experience was not good, other than that, the other staff were pleasant. The food as always was great and delicious. The soups and the manti (dumplings) were very tasty.
The food was great. The best kabob I’ve had in NYC. The fries and mushrooms were tasty too but i was disappointed with the service. The waiter was kinda rude. The staff were pushy. We got there around 10:15 PM .based on Google, we assumed it would be open till midnight. But we were told that they were closing the kitchen and the register and we should bring the check. They started vacuuming while customers were still having dinner. The staff were chatting loud in front of customers ( our table and another one) they never asked how the food was or if we needed anything. As we were leaving, two regular customers were turned away at 11:15 PM and they said that service the service is not good the last hours prior to closing.
Beautiful modern Uzbek Restaurant. Pleasantly dim lighting and Bosa nova music playing in the background. Food is delicious. The waitstaff could be better. They were all young and in uniforms. Enthusiastic to help. But they don't come and ask you if you need anything. Our order was mixed up. It wasn't a smooth operation. Also the 2 and 4 people tables are situated next to the kitchen, where the staff are running in and out of, which ruins the otherwise pleasant vibe.
Friday evening drop by for dinner. We usually pass by this place and have ordered take out. This was our first time ordering and eating at the venue. The space from outside looks small but it’s spacious inside. Multiple floors accessible through elevator for strollers and wheel chairs access. The management informed us soon they will have Liquor license and will open the roof area. We ordered… 1-Uzbek pilaf 2- Beet Salad 3-pasta with shrimp Service was quick and pleasant. They have a huge selection of menu items. Portions have gotten smaller and price aswell has dropped. All in all great pleasant experience, scrumptious food and will definitely try brunch sometime.
Very pleasant place to be. The waiter was super kind. Food took a while to come out but you could tell it was prepared well. Everything in the first photo (with the carrots and the bread) was delicious. The kebabs were not great… definitely expected better. The lighting was very calming and overall it was a great experience. Would go again!

Food was really good ! From salads to the soup and dumplings. Lagman soup was my favorite.... unfortunately service was not the best. Completely forgot about our kebabs so we had to order again , taking a totatof an hr for 3. Messed up our check adding items. Maybe it was a bad day either way this was my first experience and will def come back cause the food is good and I'm hoping this was a hiccup of a day
It is a little above average cafe. The food is relatively good considering it is Uzbek cuisine (and that cuisine is always awesome!). We ordered kebabs, which were tender (but small pieces of meat). We ordered plov, which was good. Dushes drink was also tasty, but pricey. Unfortunately, one of the appetizers came in half hr late, after the rest were eaten. Another subject was the portion of the hot dishes - they were small. Especially the side dish of fried potato - I thought in the beginning they messed up our potatoes with a kid's order. But all in all - one should try that place at least once.
The food and atmosphere were good. I removed stars for service because they added an 18% service charge, and then the waiter tells you that it goes to the restaurant and it is not a tip, and they have suggestion for gratuity. Ridiculous, it means that you expected to go at least 30%+ over the bill.
Food quality is starting to go down. The French fries tasted like it was fried in the oil that was reused 100 times. There was hair in the food and when I told the waiter , he told me that it’s from the fish, but there was a black hair inside. If food will continue to go down, people will stop coming. Otherwise the service was good and the atmosphere was nice.
Aside from the waiter who greeted us, everything else was pleasant. We arrived on a rainy day, four adults and five children. Because we didn't have a reservation, the waiter almost scolded us, asking if we had even considered making a reservation and next time we should not forget! I understand that there might not be availability and if not we were okay not to be seated, but her manner of speaking was completely wrong. Apart from that, the atmosphere was very nice.
It was a 2.5 but I rounded up and it was dry when I got medium it got served like an hour and it just tasted so gross but the background view was good
Restaurant has a nice interior. Jazz music is calming. ***NO WiFi *** I had no reception and it said WiFi available for guests. We tried to connect from 3 different phones no success. After speaking with waiters they said WiFi was out for weeks and issue wasn’t fixed and they don’t know when they will. Food was a surprise in a few ways. Skirt steak salad looked nice. Yet the steak was cold Khutabs- were nice , yet very lightly filled with meat Shurpa Soup was nice - yet too many bones. French fries were very nice and tasty. So here is what blew my mind - service. There was 2 adults and 11 year old kid. The food was serviced one plate at a time. So one person was eating the other 2 were. Watching. Of all items ordered. French fries that were ordered were brought out last for a child. Break between each dish was about 5-10 minutes. Completely ridiculous. And with no wi fi - not even entertainment for the child. Also when asked for an extra piece of bread for soup we were told NO and they wanted us to order a whole bread. Plates and finished dishes were on the table almost till very end. In summary - order out yes, dine in no. Kebab - yes. Fries - yes. Rest. - no.
What a disaster. The kitchen is an absolute mess. They brought out half the appetizers, bread took 45 minutes to come out. Then another 30 mins for some more salads. They brought out completely raw chicken. The manager who is the owners wife, came out to argue that the chef said it’s cooked. Are you out of your mind. It gets better, at the end of the meal, she comes over to the table and says we had an issue with the tickets not printing in the kitchen and that’s why the food coming out had so many issues. So how is this out problem in any capacity???? We continuously asked the waiter every 10 minutes where is the food we ordered. The meat is completely raw inside. They brought out half the entrees the others we had to wait another hour. The kitchen is an absolute mess. I’ve given them so many tries but this is the last one. They charged us for the raw chicken and all the mess ups they made. No apology, nothing at all. Given a full bill. This was the absolute worst experience. Hospitality like this shouldn’t be rewarded with customers. This is the last time going here and I will never recommend to anyone.
This is my first bad review of a local establishment. I’ve ordered from Nargis for years. Last nights order I was shocked. Not only that portions were super small, they messed up the order too. It’s as if they don’t care anymore! I don’t mind if they charge extra(which they started to anyways) but the portions are like a happy meal for a child! Embarrassing especially since you order when having company! Never again! They lost yet another costumer! In the picture you see lamb order- 4 pieces!!!!! And an order of rice! Didn’t even fill the container! Also paid extra for fries with herbs and got plain fries. Too bad because they used to be much better.
We were refused a table because the staff assumed we would have a “small check,” based purely on our appearance. This is blatant discrimination and completely unacceptable. Judging guests by how much you think they will spend is unprofessional and has no place in hospitality :)
My friend ordered plov for me on December 29. And unfortunately, I found a hair in there. I just brought it up to the server when I was there today. But suddenly owner came over to figure it out. She denied the incident and reacted unprofessionally and disrespectful to the remark. Because according to her this restaurant is thoroughly inspected. That the hair I found doesn't prove it!!! I didn't ask for anything only an apology for those. But she didn't do that either, because in her opinion I was cheating her by my appearance. Owner showed me that she didn't care about the customer!!! To such an owner of the institution I will never go again! And I advise others to do the same! If I had known beforehand what kind of owner was there, I wouldn't have come before at all. I don't recommend this restaurant to anybody else!
This was my first and last visit to this restaurant. The food was delicious, and the interior is beautiful, but the service completely ruined the evening. We came to celebrate my birthday: my friend invited me and another friend whom I hadn’t seen in a long time. For my American friend, it was also an important experience — to try cuisine from our countries — and I wanted him to have a good impression. However, the waiter made a mistake with the order: instead of just the herring with potatoes, he brought several extra appetizers, including a huge plate of hummus and other items. We politely declined, explaining that we canceled this right away. Instead of simply taking it back and canceling, the waiter insisted that we had ordered it and pressured us to accept it. The situation escalated: a woman from behind the bar (hostess or manager), a runner, and even the bartender all got involved, standing at our table and pressuring us as if we had done something wrong. The bartender kept glaring at us the entire time, which made the atmosphere extremely uncomfortable. My friend was furious — he even said, “Call the police, then we’ll just leave.” Only after that did the waiter throw up his hands and say, “Okay, now I’ll have to pay for this.” Why should it be our fault if the waiter misunderstood us, or if he couldn’t properly communicate in English while working with American customers? I found this behavior extremely disrespectful. We experienced unnecessary pressure, confusion, and insincere apologies. In the end, we had to take that appetizer back to the bar ourselves because they refused to remove it from our table.
Me and my friends visited Nargis and were strongly dissatisfied with the treatment that we received. We waited for the table over 40 minutes while other visitors were sited right away. I was told that our check last time was to low and that is why they refused to offer us a table
We didn’t even get a chance to sit down. We waited about 20 minutes for a table, but the staff never let us sit and kept ignoring us. It became very clear that they simply didn’t want to seat us, for no valid reason. Other guests were being seated while we were left waiting, which made the situation feel uncomfortable and unfair. The attitude from the staff felt judgmental and unwelcoming, as if they had already decided they didn’t like us. This was extremely unprofessional and left a bad impression. A restaurant should treat all customers equally. Because of this experience, we left and will not be returning.
Extremely disappointed with the service. I had called earlier to reserve a table for two at 5:45 PM and requested to sit in the middle of the main dining area. When we arrived, the staff couldn’t find our reservation, and I had to show my phone to prove it. We were seated near the entrance, where it was very cold and drafty. I asked to move to another table, but was refused without any attempt to help. This is unprofessional and disrespectful. I will not return and cannot recommend this restaurant.
Very disappointed with our experience at Nargiz. We had a reservation yesterday for 6:00 PM and I even called a few days in advance to confirm. To our surprise, we were seated right next to the entrance door. It was freezing cold - we literally had to sit and eat in our winter jackets?! People were constantly going in and out to smoke, and the smell kept coming inside. It was uncomfortable and unpleasant. Of course, we left. Who wants to stay and eat in a freezing spot? There are many other restaurants nearby. What is the point of calling and making a reservation if you’re going to be seated in the worst possible table? Very disappointing experience.
I used to love Nargis Restaurant and have been ordering since day one, but ever since they moved, things have gone downhill. My last two orders arrived with old, weathered vegetables in the salad that should never have been served. When I asked for a refund, they flat-out refused. After years of loyalty, this is how they treat customers? Extremely disappointing, and I won’t be ordering again.
