Opinions de Ricepot Thai Cookhouse Brooklyn
I order take out here all the time pad see eew with beef very spicy it’s so good. It just like Thailand idk if my opinion counts since I’m farang out there so I may not know the top dishes but I’ve lived in Thailand for a year and a half and it’s pretty dam good only thing really missing is the chili flakes and the sour orange sauce that they give you in a bag in Thailand but it is amazing highly recommend and affordable for nyc standards
I’ve been meaning to try this place for a while, and finally stopped by for dinner last weekend — so glad I did! While the space is casual and cozy, the food punches way above its weight. I ordered the Drunken Noodles with beef, and wow — super flavorful, just the right amount of spice, and the portion was huge. Definitely enough for two meals. My friend got the Green Curry with chicken, which was creamy, fragrant, and had that perfect balance of sweet and heat you want from a good Thai curry. You could tell they don’t skimp on the ingredients. As a starter, we split the Pork Belly Basket, which came out crispy and tender with a nice dipping sauce. Honestly, a must-order. Service was friendly and efficient, even though it got a little busy around 7pm. The staff checked on us just enough without hovering. Prices were really reasonable too — around $14–$15 for most entrees, which felt like a steal given the quality and portion size. They also seem to have a great takeout and delivery setup (tons of reviews on Uber Eats), so I might order next time I’m feeling lazy. Would I go back? Absolutely. This place is a solid choice if you’re craving Thai food in South Brooklyn — flavorful, affordable, and satisfying.
I had an amazing experience dining at this Thai restaurant. The flavors were authentic and perfectly balanced—spicy, sour, sweet, and salty just like real Thai cuisine. I especially loved the Pad Thai and green curry. The Pad Thai was flavorful with just the right amount of tanginess, while the green curry was rich, creamy, and packed with herbs and spices. The atmosphere was cozy and the staff were very welcoming. I would definitely come back again!
We’ve always passed by this spot but never had the chance to try it out until today! We started off with the pork belly basket and it was so delicious. I loved the little sauce that it in came — it paired well with the crispy pork. We also ordered some drinks (highly recommend the passion burst and the Thai iced tea). As the main entrees, we got the classic pad Thai (which has shrimp and chicken) and the chicken cashew. Both were super good and savory. I loved how tangy and it peanut-ey the pad Thai was. I also loved the spices used for the chicken cashew. Highly recommend this spot to satisfy your Thai cravings 10/10!
Finished my dentist visit and got hungry. Was walking around and spotted this little gem. Luckily, I came in time for the lunch special if I’m not mistaken is from 12 pm to 4 pm. I got the drunken noodle with the chicken satay. I ordered the curry puff as an appetizer. Listen I love my noodles spicy and it was. Wish it was spicer though. The atmosphere was lively and cozy. I will so come back.
So this review incapsulates two different dinner experiences. Let me start off by emphasizing just how friendly, sweet, and kind the staff are; they accommodated our request and even remedied any mishaps that occurred with our meal (I.e. papaya salad being too spicy for us to enjoy fully). So imma break down below our overall dining experience and the various appetizer and entrees that we had the opportunity to try: Appetizers: Chive cakes - second and third time ordering this and it is still addicting as hell! Just like my first experience, it was crunchy on the outside and mushy on the inside, a perfect and unique balance of texture and flavors! Papaya salad - very refreshing and interesting texture between the crunchiness of the peanuts and the crispness of the papaya strips! The spicy version was incredibly spicy but that was probably an accident on their end when they sprinkled too much Thai chili powder on it. The non spicy version was tangy, crunchy and help cleanse our taste for the main entrees. Drinks: Thai iced tea - very creamy and sweet with a strong tea flavor that's perfect for Thai ice tea lovers. It is definitely on the sweeter end so I recommend adding some milk to it if you bring your Thai ice tea home! Entrees: Crying Tiger - perfectly cooked to medium rare, just like we wanted. The sauce that accompanied the steak was deliciously spicy/tangy as well! However, I wasn't too much of a big fan of the strip cut, for I found it a bit too rough, but that's just my personal preference, so if you like strips then this will definitely satisfy your cravings! If I had any recommendations, I would recommend using a fattier cut or using ribeyes instead (or maybe as a new menu item!), for I think fattier cuts will be richer and be perfect with rice and the sauce that it comes with! Just a thought! :p Pad see ew (chicken and seafood) - both version of the pad see ew was delicious, for the flavors were definitely intense! The sweet and saltiness of the dish makes it deliciously memorable. However, some might find it just a tad too sweet. The sweetness definitely overpowers the saltiness, but it is still delicious in my opinion! Adding some hot sauce or their chili powder helps reduce the sweetness a bit and adds a kick to it! Highly recommend trying this! Chicken cashew - fried pieces of chicken with a sweet Thai glaze over it, which was good but a bit too salty for us (definitely pairs well with rice though). It was definitely worth the try and reminded us of Chinese sweet and sour chicken from Cantonese restaurants (not the purely fried ones from Chinese takeouts :p). Thai Fisherman stew - a flavorful pot of mixed seafood with a stew that tastes delicious with rice. It reminds us of soondubu (Korean tofu stew) because it comes with a similar small pot with similar portions. It was good overall and we liked it! Bangkok fried rice - wow, this was a show stealer! You can definitely taste the Wok Hay (Cantonese term for fire-infused cooking on a wok that brings out the smoky flavor of the fried rice)! It smells deliciously fragrant and the seasoning was just perfect! We got the beef version and it was phenomenal! Just a tip, if you order pad see ew as well, eat the fried rice first because the intense flavors of the pad see ew will definitely blanket the taste of the fried rice since the fried rice is on the milder side. Highly recommend trying this! My total 3 experiences dining here have been phenomenal and I can't wait to come back to try their many other items! A very comfortable and warm place to have a romantic dinner date or a simple heartfelt dinner to warm your tummy! I hope this helps and thank you for reading (:
We really like this place. Great customer service and such good food. Better than the park slope joint we used to go to, but much smaller inside. Portions can be bigger, but the coconut chicken soup and veggie rolls are great appetizers to pick from on their lunch menu. Definitely order their Thai iced tea. Best we’ve tried anywhere. Would recommend them 💯
Amazing Thai place, perhaps the best Pad Thai I've had in nyc by far. Their specialty Pad Thai named after the restaurant is a Pad Thai that comes with fried pork belly. The fried pork belly is amazing. They also sell the traditional Thai ice tea which is pretty good. The lychee soda is very good. Their Khao Soi is okay, I prefer the Pad Thai. The wings are okay as well not recommended.
AUTHENTIC Thai food in the neighborhood! I have spent time in Thailand and I’ve even taken a Thai cooking class in Chiangmai when I was there so I’m very familiar with what authentic Thai food should be like. I’ve also worked in the restaurant industry so I’m quite picky when it come to food. I’m so psyched this place opened here. Everything we ordered was delicious and fresh! You can definitely taste the fresh ingredients. We ordered a lot because we were so hungry and couldn’t decide what to get. The Khao soi is yummy! The chicken literally falls off the bone and the noodles are the perfect texture. The dumplings were divine and I really like the sauce they’re in. My boyfriend had the Tom Yum soup and loved it. I personally usually don’t like seafood soups, but had a taste and was impressed with the flavors. I loved that their coconut desserts that come in the little round bowls are homemade. It makes such a difference because a lot of Asian restaurants don’t make homemade desserts. I also had the house-made lychee lemonade was also good. Just the right balance and not too sweet. My boyfriend had a Thai ice coffee and loved it too. Everything we had was perfect, no complaints whatsoever. It’s a really straightforward menu, very clean restaurant and the staff were so sweet and helpful with the menu. I will definitely be a regular customer and can’t wait to go back.
As soon as you walk in, personnel is greeting you with a warm smile and they are keep treating you like you are the most valuable guest. Honestly, I don’t remember the last time I had such a warm service. The food is revolutionary to me. I barely eat Thai cousin because I had bad experiences in the past, so when I came in I didn’t expect something spectaculars. However, I left from there completely shocked because the food was incredible, portions are huge and prices are low! Don’t think, just go there! If you don’t know what to order, just ask for recommendations and you will not regret. P.S they also serve delicious lemonades!
Fire food, friendly nice staff lady. Very welcoming. I like this place. Worth a visit and more.
Some excellent Thai dishes in a tiny spot I visited Ricepot Thai Cookhouse a few times in 2025 to enjoy one of my favorite cuisines and write a review. This place excels at delivering Thai cuisine essentials with complex, perfectly balanced flavors. All the mains and soups I tried tasted fantastic and fresh. Great job! The appetizers were fine but unremarkable. Beef preparation definitely needs improvement as it was so tough and chewy that even the waitress acknowledged it. The restaurant has strong potential, but it should master its beef, offer more protein options, and expand its very limited menu. I certainly recommend this restaurant for delicious Thai cuisine. Food tried Appetizers and soups Tom Kha with Chicken - absolutely excellent! The flavors and heat level were perfectly balanced. Though it’s a standard dish at many Thai restaurants, not all do it this well. I’d suggest adding mushrooms, though it was great even without them. Chicken Satay - generous portion; chicken was a bit dry, but the peanut sauce was very good. Chives Cakes - deep-fried, small, and similar to what I’ve had elsewhere. Nothing special. Curries Beef Massaman (no longer on the menu) - the sauce was unbelievable: rich, complex, and deeply flavored. The beef, however, tasted plainly boiled, lacking its own flavor. The baby potatoes were also quite bland. There were some beans that tasted great. The sauce alone was so good that it made the dish worth ordering. Green Curry with Chicken - outstanding. One of the best Thai green curries I’ve had, even without bell pepper. Rich, bold flavor with no sweetness often found in Thai curries, a thicker texture closer to panang, and loaded with bamboo shoots and fresh Thai basil. Salmon Choo Chi - outstanding. The salmon looked dry at first but wasn’t; It wasn’t juiciest but was not dry either and tasted great. The sauce had a unique, incredible flavor. I only wish the portion were larger, especially for the price. Noodles Drunken Noodles - excellent. Flavorful, spicy, with tender chicken and soft, silky noodles. The portion was very generous but I couldn’t stop and finished it all. Khoa Soi with Beef - the curry noodle soup had an amazing, complex taste with a wide flavor palette. It was richer than any red, green, panang, or massaman curry I’ve tried. Noodles were excellent. The beef, unfortunately was not so good, as noted earlier.
I had a great 4-star experience at Ricepot Thai Cookhouse! The atmosphere was a total standout, earning a full 5-star rating for its excellent vibe. Both the food and the service were also solid, each deserving a 3-star rating. It’s a wonderful local spot to enjoy a meal in a fantastic environment!
This casual Thai eatery offers kind and welcoming service, with portions that are larger than you'd expect. The lunch special is definitely worth it! The Bangkok Fried Rice, Pad Thai, and Drunken Noodles were good, though the Drunken Noodles tasted more like Pad See Ew—sweet and savory rather than spicy. The pork belly basket and chicken satay were just ok. Overall, good value.
Food was pretty decent. Appetizers came out a little at a time. But the fried rice & pad Thai took pretty long and it was just us in the restaurant. Calamari was good and batter wasn't too thick. Pork belly was a little too fatty where the fat part was hard to chew. Chicken satay could've been a little more browned but good flavor. Curry chicken & potato puffs barely had chicken in there so just expect a good curry potato puff. Pad Thai was a little on the sweeter side. Pineapple fried rice was good but all the shrimps were not cleaned properly, poop still inside. Originally, I wanted to give 3 stars because of food and wait time. But staff is really friendly and nice. So changed to 4 stars. Thank you!
Their Thai iced tea is the bomb! The food was good but not to my expectations. The slow cooked pork leg dish was dry and didnt have or taste of the five spices as it should. Tom yum noodle soup was not bad, I prefer a little bit stronger flavor. Definitely would go back and try other dishes.
Affordable lunch set, some items I like but some to avoid. I got the lunch set with tofu pad thai, chicken coconut soup and Thai iced tea. And I added an appetizer, curry puff original. I would stay away from the chicken coconut soup. The chicken are very lean, dry and tough. The soup is quite coconutty with a hint of tangy from citrus. Soup is on the watery side. The soup is topped with cilantro which was not listed on the menu. Pad Thai is well seasoned but tofu (fried tofu) is bland on its on but decent to balance out the heavy flavor noodles. Overall, this dish has nice mixed of texture with the peanut crunch. Thai iced tea is very sweet, but was actually good to have it with the noodles. (probably not lactose free). The curry puff has pretty soft crust, hot outside but only lukewarm inside. Decent flavor but can’t really taste the chicken or feel the meat texture. Overall on the oily side, and more soft than expect.
I don't usually write reviews, but this was the worst thai food I've ever had. We had the chicken satay, crispy pork belly, ricepot pad thai, and thai iced tea. The chicken satay was okay, nothing special. The crispy pork belly came out really fast. It was dry, barely any flavor and it looks like it was reheated. The ricepot pad thai had more flavor and used the same pork belly. The thai iced tea was sweet and didn't have much flavor. I stopped taking pictures of the dishes as it came out because it wasn't worth it anymore. The waitress and place were nice. I recommend going somewhere else like next door to Osaka Sushi.
Portions are tiny for the price of takeout, bland flavors. The papaya salad has a big pc of cabbage and 4 bites of very spicy papaya salad which cost $11. Containers are very small in size and the salad has no taste other than overly spicy. The Thai green curry is the saddest green curry I ever had. The only things in there is dry overly cook chicken, strips of bamboo, few thinly slices of eggplant (not even thai eggplant), and basil leaves for$15. Other places atleast put some carrots, mushrooms, peppers to give it some color. The pork belly in the rice pot pad Thai is soo dry and noodles have no taste other than spicy. The Khao soi curry beef noodle is bland and the beef is too tough to chew, it needs to be tender. Overall was very disappointed with the food, portion, taste, and price.
