Opinions de Chicken Oil Co. Bryan
Every time I visit, I'm never disappointed. Staff is patient when I'm indecisive and my orders are always correct. Place is clean, including restrooms. I have eaten a few burgers and all have been great but, I really enjoy the CFS sandwich.
Maybe I'm a little biased because of the nostalgia I get walking through the door, but this is one of my favorite places in Bryan. Every time I look out at the multi-tiered table layout, I flash back to my childhood and early teens when my grandparents would bring us here to eat every time we were in Bryan. They have good, greasy, bar style burgers and great drinks on tap. Can't wait to go back again.
Had lunch here and the small Chicken Fried Steak plate was actually pretty filling and not badly priced. Will definitely come back again. A side note though, if your car is low you may want to park across the street, it's pretty steep going in and there's holes in the lot.
Good parking. Plenty of seating now. Great service and food.
Great place to eat and have a family dinner...everyone is great and have great attitudes
A staple for good burgers and cold beer in Bryan / College Station. Unique decor and consistently good food. Recently remodeled with several upgrades to the ordering station, restrooms and added a porch for outdoor seating. Same great food and menu plus offering draft beer in ice cold mugs or the traditional bottles.
First time. What a great atmosphere and great food
Best burger in the BCS area!!!
Have been coming here since I was a kid (when I used to knock my chair over backward on accident every trip) and never once have they disappointed! The environment is unique and very much displays classic Texas. The burgers are amazing and the staff is always polite. An easy recommendation for everyone in the area!
Great food great service and good vibes wish they had modelo on tap tho
Really good food. Very recognized and unique feel to the place. They also have harder to find things like turkey burgers and sweet potato fries which is great because my girlfriend likes those sort of things. The staff was busy keeping the food coming and the tables cleaned off. Very western old school feel to the place but welcoming to everyone.
This place was extremely good. We visited on a Friday night and it wasn't too busy. The menu is American food, cheeseburgers and chicken. I ordered the cheeseburger and it was very good. My husband ordered the chicken and it was great, very juicy and well seasoned and the sides are great too. Over all our experience was fantastic. The customer service was very friendly and the food is made from scratch. I will definitely be coming back to this place.
The grilled chicken salad was hige and fresh and tasty.
So glad Chicken Oil is back! Noce improvements to the building, tasty burgers and cold beer.
These are the best burgers in Bryan !!!! I love the food. The atmosphere can be poor when its busy. The last time I went three baseball teams were ordering when we walked in. the wait took awhile but it was worth it.
Death sauce provided sufficient kick. Solid burger. Fries were good enough. Good food, yes, world class legendary drive across the state of Texas level good? No. But still good. Take it for what it is and enjoy if you're in town.
The atmosphere is very country, kinda rustic, but definitely charming. It looks pretty rundown but the place has been there forever, and it is entirely for show. The food is great, tasty and filling, and well priced. The bathrooms are clean, the staff is friendly, and the food is a reason to keep coming back. Big TVs for the games, too.
Best Burger I have ever had!! Can't wait to eat there again!
Great experience. The cashier was nice and food was good. My mom loved it
It brings me great joy that Chicken Oil came back from hiatus better than ever. I swear I don't remember the burgers being this good.
This has a really cool atmosphere. We happened to visit on game day for the Aggies. Very fast service.
Chicken Oil Co. rose from the ashes—literally—and brought back the burgers, beer, and fries that made my college GPA drop a point. Same rustic charm, new patio for the dog, and chili fries that should come with a warning label. Welcome back, old friend.
It is not only the food i like in this place, but also like the old smell of wood and enjoy to be there with my friends and celebrate spacial days like birthdays etc. there. They are very helpfull and if you have a birthday cake they keep in the fridge for you until you want it to celebrate. Thank you!
Always good food and fast service, glad to have them back!
Super good hamburger!!!! Just like a homemade one but probably better
Busy Sunday after church. Many people walked in to see the line and left. Burger and fries were as I remember them, delicious. Glad to see this classic return to BCS.
Looks great after rebuild from the fire. Music playing but you can still talk.
What a fun place. Great food and love the atmosphere. Our family is so happy they're finally back!
The food is really good. We got there at a great time and had a very short wait in line. We will definitely be back.
Nice place to visit, food was as good as expected with fair price.
Good just like I remember from years ago. Parking situation is way better.
Chicken Oil is a must-visit if you go to Texas A&M. Additionally, I would like to complement one of the workers, Izzy, who was friendly and made my burger to perfection. 5 stars, would visit again.
Great food. Good prices. Worth the wait, even on a game day. The perfect place to visit for meal at a local place.
Welcome Back. So glad y’all are open finally! Cheese Burger Death Burger for me! Love it! The place looks wonderful - almost exactly like it did in 1980 when I first got here. Drove up from Houston today just to eat here and it was absolutely worth it (apologies to the tree huggers for my carbon footprint, but sometimes you gotta have what you gotta have)
1/4 cheeseburger, done Perfectly! Great cheesy fries. Good selection of beer. Glad they finally reopened!
One of my all-time favorites from my College days is recovered and still making the same amazing Tijuana fries.
Grew up with this place as a special treat and got to take my wife on a date while in town. It's one of the rare places that was just as good as I remembered. Food was great excellent, and the atmosphere was comfortable.
Loved this place! The team was incredibly friendly, welcoming, and on point with their service – you can tell they genuinely enjoy what they do. And the burgers? Fantastic! Everything was fresh and delicious. Already planning my next visit… would 100% go back and highly recommend! 🍔🔥
Sean the manager and Alex the cashier are awesome! We asked about catfish from the online menu and they made sure we got fixed up even though it wasn’t officially added yet. It was a fantastic value, very tasty and great portions. We’d highly recommend the refurbished chicken oil company.
Our family has been coming here for years. We recently made our first trip back since they partially rebuilt after a kitchen fire. The burgers were still great. And they did a really nice job of coming up to code while keeping the nostalgia as close to original as possible. My wife loves the modernized ladies' restroom. And I was happy they've added a few more TVs for college football Saturdays! Service was good, but I can't give more than 3 stars for counter service. But nothing wrong in that regard here.
First time at Chicken Oil Co.The chicken fried chicken was excellent—crispy, flavorful, and definitely the highlight of the meal. Fries were solid, and the chicken salad was huge (definitely come hungry for that one). I wish they gave you BBQ sauce in the table… but other than that, great. The atmosphere is great, laid-back, and welcoming, and the service was friendly and attentive. Overall, a really good experience and worth coming back for!
Recently opened back up after a fire a few years back. The place has been remodeled but still has much of the original interior and the old rustic feel with the same great food. Walk in and up to the front counter to order your food, tell them your name and wait for your name to be called when your food is ready. Since they have recently opened back up they were pretty busy but worth the short wait. They have a few arcade games up front for adults or kids to play. Parking is good with an open lot beside the restaurant.
It’s been a long couple of years waiting on the return of the Chicken Oil Company but the wait was worth it! Food was spot-on, service was fantastic, the decor is on point and the layout feels like home with some fancy new touches. This was a great way to celebrate moving our son back to school. Great job, team! See you soon!
Coming in, the pool table sat amongst beautiful wood floors and walls. I never saw this place before, but it was perfect. Nostalgia gleaned in the quietest way. Ordered: 1. Patty Melt with fries 2. 1/4 lb cheeseburger with fries 3. Shrimp basket with fries 4. Hamburger Steak with sweet potato fries Delicious! Happy to see the place up and running.
Walking through the doors of Chicken Oil is like stepping straight back into Aggieland history—and I am here for it! 🙌🐔 From the moment you see the vintage décor and gorgeous animal mounts to the walls and tables etched with decades of names and memories, it’s like every inch tells a story. You can literally feel the history in the air (and smell the burgers on the grill—perfection!). 🍔🔥 The food? Absolutely outstanding—every bite tastes like tradition. And the staff? 100% pure gold—smiles, laughs, and that genuine Texas hospitality that makes you feel like family the second you walk in. ❤️ Chicken Oil isn’t just a restaurant—it’s a living, breathing piece of Bryan-College Station history, and I’m so grateful it’s back!
I liked this place, visited this weekend with friends. They were quite busy as a HS from the Dallas area stopped there and tons of HS students but they still gave us our plates in a timely manner. I appreciated that despite being busy, we all received fast service. The food was good and the service good, definitely recommend.
Burgers were pretty small, decent flavor. Over priced.
Not a bad burger...the place has a cool vibe. It gets 4 stars because I waited 1 hour and 10 minutes for my food. Granted they had a crowd. I will tell you to try it. If you see a bunch of cars outside, you might try another time. Don't go on Sunday.
Used to do be the best hamburgers and atmosphere in BCs...had a fall off in quality for a while...but,I am happy to say THEY ARE BACK! Great for families, great burgers ( "death burger with cheese, my fav) great cheese fries, fried onions rings and lots more. Good beer on tap. CHECK IT OUT!
Definitely a nostalgic experience. The remodel after the fire was done well and the food and atmosphere are back to what they used to be.
Great food and service. Terrible fountain drinks. Worth the visit, just grab a craft soda.
Great food. Busy atmosphere but plenty of seating.
I had the 1/4 pound cheese burger, and order of Tijuana Fries, and a cold Shiner on draft. Total + $2 tip came in at $19, so a little on the high side. Burger was a little small, but overall, the meal was great and tasty! Great atmosphere too! Oh, if you have a car low to the ground (like a sports car) , you may want to park across the street!
Chicken Oil Co was a great blend of modern country restaurant with a nostalgic blast from the past! The restaurant has several areas to spread out and accommodate a group of any size. The old school signs and animal mounts were fun! The food was good old classic southern food! No need to get a side of fries as most meals come with fries.
Love the inside of the restaurant. Lots of seating inside and a lot of TVs. Very friendly and efficient staff. Keep their tables clean and clear. The chicken strips were tasty but tasted much like pre-breaded prior frozen strips, sweet potato fries were delish, my husband said the burger was good but not something he'd crave to come back for.
We went and it was super packed and crowded but it was good. We had to with for a table to open. Only complaint I can say is a man had about 3 tables saved for a birthday party the time it took the party to arrive 4 families could've used the tables and left. And the side choices are very few. Just fries, onion ring, chips pretty much was all.
Ran into some old friends here, which illustrates how the nostalgia of this place maintains it's charm and attraction. The food was only average this trip - burgers were over cooked but fries were nice and hot. I'd return, but more for the ambience and old memories, less for food.
First time there. Had a hamburger and fries. Good but nothing special. Bun wasn't toasted much. Wife didn't want fries but were in the basket. Very rustic cowboy setting. Probably won't go back. 4 people in group. All had burgers with water to drink. $40+ .
Atmosphere. Clearly that's the main draw here This is apparently a very popular place w the college crowd. Salads are generous. Don't bother with the chicken fried steak it's at best average (stamped with the marks of going from freezer to fryer). Moderate selection of beers. Service was okay. I'll leave the place to the kids next time though.
Nice decor and atmosphere. Food was about average. Had a chicken sandwich. It was just OK. A bit dry.
I've heard this is a "must" for many people but to me it was just ok. Yeah it was a good greasy burger.. but they made it wrong and there wasn't anything special about it.
Packed at 2 pm on a Saturday. Got steak finger baskets. The steak fingers were frozen ones like DQ. French fries needed salt but were crisp and not greasy. Fun atmosphere but not impressed with our food at all.
Chicken Oil Co is back! They've done an amazing job to bring it back after the fire. The place still has the look and feel of the old place but is having some operational teething problems They've improved parking greatly and installed a nice long ramp to accommodate handicapped guests. 2nd day open after reopening so the line was long. High schoolers running the registers had to ask for help often which slowed things down. They also had 3 registers but only 2 were open. >: -? Kitchen was humming and our order of a burger and fries came out quickly. Burger was a standard 1/4 lb patty and unremarkable. Fries were from a box, unsalted and pretty much tasteless. The soda machine although new needs recalibrating as drinks were a bit syrupy and under carbonated. In short, the atmosphere is there but the food has a ways to go. We'll try again in a few months.
This is a review that I really didn't want to make. Today I made my first trip back to Chicken Oil, I've been craving that burger and Tijuana fries for 3 yrs now! I went at the perfect time, only waited a couple of minutes to order and there was no searching for a good place to sit. I ordered my usual, cheeseburger and t- fries, the food arrived in no time, perfect. My first dissapointment was the the t-fries, all that melty, stringy cheese that I so craved was gone. The fries weren't hot and I had to use my hands to break the cheeses away with the fry. Not to be discouraged, I unwrappped that same mouth-watering cheeseburger, only to find no cheese. Feeling a little discouraged, but I forged on and returned to burger to have it corrected. Soon after I was handed my burger back with the added cheese. I opened her up to add a little ketchup and became pretty much deflated. I got cheese, room temperature, not even trying to fake being hot or melted. Well, shoot! I know there's always bumps in the beginning of opening, and reopening a restaurant. There's always little kinks and a lot of new staff to get things down pat. But I don't think that was the case today, unfortunately. Melting cheese, wether it be on fries or a hamburger, is not rocket science. I'd compare it to scooping ice in a cup. But I'm also forgiving, at least once, so I will try again at a later time, but it definitely won't be in the next few weeks. Fingers crossed the 2nd time around is what I've craved and remember.
Good food ordered burgers and now they do not come with fries was very disappointed and chicken basket had no gravy
One of my all time favs but two visits after the fire and buns are stale and burgers overcooked. I’ll try again in a month and sure hope they are back to normal. Came back again and ordered an old favorite—the death burger and so glad to say—I think they are back to normal. Please keep it up—this place is an institution here for so many of us.
Had looked forward to the reopening. Was very disappointed. The food was average, small portions, especially for the price. When you pay, of course there is a place to add a tip…let’s see you order standing up at a counter, you go pick up your own food, and then clean you own table…what the heck is the tip for? There is no service. Probably won’t be back.
My first time back since they opened so I was excited. It was not crowded and we did not have to wait in line to order. I was disappointed because the burger and fries were cold, not even warm. Both kids did not eat any of their fries but I did eat all of my cold Tijuana fries. To the gentleman that was tending to the dining area, you were doing your thang brutha.
Had not been to COC since pre-pandemic. We were not impressed with the current burger/fry offering. The cardinal sin of any burger joint is serving fries that are: 1) room temperature and 2) chewy. Our fries were both.
I was very disappointed in the food. I was so excited to try it again since its reopening but the food is not the same smh. Cold, soft fries after we asked for crispy fries... no salt/bland. The burger was like a jr burger small & not bad but not worth the price when you can buy better food cheaper elsewhere. Shame my family & i will not return. Chicken strips were bad. I guess you just get 2 strips??? 🤦♀️ My 9yr old son said fast food is better, sadly i agree. Pics & vids.
Our friends took us here to try a local place. It was a bit disappointing that they didn't have a main ingredient for their burger of the month and it was only the middle of the month. We also stopped by hours before they closed. Their fries were unseasoned. We did enjoyed their fried pickles and I liked my Buffalo chicken sandwich.
I've been going to the Oil Co for over 20 years. I've been there twice this football season and have been very disappointed in the quality of the food. The chicken fried chicken tasted like it was frozen and of poor quality. The hamburger was dry and tasteless. Too bad. Hopefully management will see reviews like this and make changes. I gave it 2 stars since the atmosphere is still great.
Our first visit. Should have tried a burger and maybe will go back for one another time, but the shrimp basket and chicken fried steak will never be ordered here again. Very poor quality entrees. Quick service considering it’s counter service. The items we ordered were about on par with a grocery store frozen dinner. We really appreciated the view of others enjoying their burgers, though. Big and bold HAMBURGERS sign on the outside wall with no other food mentioned should have been a big hint for us! Seems odd for a restaurant named the Chicken Oil Co.
First time back since reopening. My Stuffy burger was very flavorful. My husband got the chicken strips which he said were very bland. The fries for both of us were just awful. Tasted like cold, unseasoned cardboard. Ended up bringing them home to chop up for my chickens. All in all, I'd probably go somewhere else.
I’ve visited this place several times now, at different times of the day (throughout the year). I fail to see what the draw is to this place. The area has much better places to get a decent meal, without waiting over an hour for them to “call your name”. Burgers and fries are decent, at best. Chicken fried steak is just a frozen patty dropped in the fryer. Not hand dipped or fresh. But hey, it’s mainly for college kids, right? Should people in college eat a lower quality? I think not. Prices are not the cheapest around and the place is dingy and dirty. Maybe it was the place to be years ago, but definitely not anymore.
I love their food. But BEWARE , I have a 1 year old and got him chicken nuggets like I always do , and they were too crispy for my son. He’s really picky , so I was peeling the breading off and thank god I was. We found a bone in a chicken nugget !!! He could have died if he ate that. Thank y’all so much for making his nuggets too crispy tonight !!
Ok ladies and Gents this one is going to hurt. But as you know i always tell it like we eat it. I love the rustic look and feel of this place. You enter order sit down and they call out your name to get your food. Unusual but for some fantastic, as you know me, I prefer to order sit down and they bring it to the table. Not here its mostly self service. Table was clean, I ordered pickle chips, motz sticks, a Duffy special, a Duffy burger with onion rings, and drink. We are sitting there talking and our order comes up. I get it and bring it back sit down and try a fry then a pickle chip. Immediate notes. Fries are soft there is 0 crunch, and very little seasoning. The pickle chips. Also from a frozen bag, not cooked fully through, no crunch and the breading rubs the roof of your mouth wrong. But it doesn't stop there, trying a mozzarella stick we get hit with the same frozen bagged junk, the same breading and let me be frank, the star of these dishes was the RANCH dressing. Now im expecting a burger that wows from Bryan's beloved burger joint. The patties are frozen, and they taste like the cheap patties from McDonald's and Burger King. But those at least have some flavor. They try to ramp up the taste with the mayo, ketchup, mustard, and toppings. Unfortunately it just makes it more obvious to those that are burger people. Fake it til you make it, ya know? The onion rings also the cheap frozen bagged kind, not very tasty and we ended up throwing half of the pickle chips away, and 4 mozzarella sticks because they just were not enjoyable to eat. I give this place 2 forks. Food was not worth the price. Nostalgia is what your going here for. Will not be back.
I was excited for Chicken Oil to reopen, but was a little hesitant to revisit after hearing some mixed reviews. After visiting today, I can unfortunately see where the complaints are coming from. I ordered a steak finger basket. Not only was the total $20 (!!) for 5 steak fingers and fries, plus a drink and tip, but I was surprised to see how much the portion sizes shrunk. The quality of the food has significantly decreased and was mediocre at best. The steak fingers were tiny and extremely bland, almost as if they were store bought. Although the meal is 65% fries, they tasted no better, and the gravy was practically water. Even the Cherry Coke didn't taste right. Super disappointing experience overall ):
We just ate lunch it was nice , love the place from Outside and in , but let's say there was some Flaws . I see reviews like Great Burgers and been coming for years. Have you ever asked yourself, Why ? the answe question cheap food , cheap prices , hamburger patty couldn't be fresh tasted just like any old fast food burger joint , yellow lettuce was served on mine with the tomato little smushy and I got Onion Rings well for over 3 bucks I got 6 onion rings . So on that note food we had thumbs down . Now I must say If the burgers were half off I wouldn't of minded .
It was my first ever eating here , and I had the worst experience possible! The cashier Madeleine B that took my order was not helpful with questions I asked about menu. I felt like I was rushed ordering my food. It just wasnt a good first experience
Came here after seeing pictures of cheese fries. When I went to order them worker Madeline B. told me I couldn’t no other explanation given. After seeing several people around us with them I came to the conclusion that it was because I ordered a meal that came with fries and these needed to be order separately I guess? Had she explained this when ordering I still would have added them as well. I then received no gravy with my chicken tenders. When I went back to ask from some another employee, just as rude as the first, said I needed to pay $1 for it. After explaining I had ordered tenders and thought it came with the kitchen cook she asked for the gravy accused me of lying about it not coming with my order! This was my first experience here and most likely will never return. Chicken tenders were decent but fries very extremely bland with no seasoning.
If I could rate this with no stars I would!!! I was so disappointed. I don’t mind spending over $100 for some great food but overall the service & food was poor and unorganized. I called in my order and they handed me one plate from my order and the rest was not ready for pickup…. As for taste it was unseasoned and fries tasted old and were like cardboard. Definitely not going back!
I loved coming here as a kid and young adult, so I was excited to come back here after having it rebuilt. The burgers and food in general was always great, so I jumped at the chance to come tonight. …..Sadly disappointed!! Burgers were small and food portions in general small compared to what they used to be! Our burgers were small, not very much lettuce, tomato, onion etc. they didn’t include all the dressings it was supposed to and included the ones we asked to hold. The burgers were dry and cold. I got a cheeseburger because I remember theirs being so good; this one was not. The cheese was cold, well the whole burger was cold, but this was krafts cheese slice traight out of the fridge. No real cheese, not melted on it. Just nasty cold burger. The onion rings were good, just the portion size of small Whataburger onion ring. The chicken strip basket was ok, but the chicken strips were WAY overcooked, toast burnt, and ranch dressing was nasty. Totally NOT worth the visit. KOPPEE BRIDGE SO MUCH BETTER!!
used to go here as a kid and would love the hamburger baskets did they served? Visited for the first time in 20 years and was very disappointed. Paid 799+ tax for a burger that was the size of a kids burger. Over priced, maybe a good place to drink!!! But not the place to get a bang for your buck!! Not a cheap person, but not paying for noting that’s not worth it… pictures to prove it. Look for your self😂😂😂baby burger for eight dollars plus you have to pay three dollars for the fries
