We decided to veer off the beaten path and grab a bite on our way home. Let me tell you this place did not disappoint at all. The food was amazing, the atmosphere was welcoming and the service by our waitress Abbie was nothing less than fantastic. We are already thinking about a weekend trip just to come here again!!!
I want to begin this review by saying that my family and I love the silver buffalo saloon in Buffalo gap Texas! We enjoy Morgan, Amanda and Cheyenne they all do a fantastic job! The food is always very desirable and brought to us in a timely manner! That being said I do think that the cleanliness of the floors in the building need to be cleaned more often and cleaned better…if you can’t keep the floors clean it has to make one wonder what else is being neglected behind closed doors? Again the resteraunt is great my family and I will continue to frequent the restaurant without a doubt! But we would very much so appreciate the overall cleanliness of the establishment to be held at a higher standard! (Mainly the floors) from what i can tell as a customer I would assume there are other areas that need attention as well!
Live music is great and Inviting with variety for music enthusiast. The food was fantastic. Large servings for children, Chicken fried chicken was large served meal, frog legs where great. perfectly fried food. Our server was very attentive and made sure to check in on us and have our orders perfect. We will definitely come back. And I highly recommend coming urself.
Don’t sleep on Silver Buffalo Saloon! Kicking myself for not going out there sooner. Both the service and our food was perfect. Kaitlyn was our waitress and she was extremely personable, attentive and funny. The appetizers came out quick and hot; cheese stick, I don’t know what they put in that breading but it was amazing and the chips and dip were great. You can tell they make their chips in house. Delish. Both the chicken fried steak and chicken fried chicken with jalapeño gravy were massive! The sides were just right; mashed potatoes, okra and jalapeño corn. As a sweet tea snob I was very impressed with theirs. I even had a tea to go. When we were finished we had an easy two more meals out of our leftovers. For the price, service and atmosphere you just can’t beat it! This IS our new favorite place! 💕
Walked into Silver Buffalo Saloon in Buffalo Gap, Texas! Was a bit drafty but you could certainly feel the Texas pride saloon vibe. Menu was packed with options. Service was phenomenal! Food was Spectacular! Go Texas! 🤠 Food temperature and flavor was on point. The Scottish meat pie was a first for us. It was a nice doughy and meaty collaboration! Chicken fried steak had a great flavor and Texas Supersized. We will definitely return! Prices were perfect for the portion size. You also can’t beat the beautiful drive into Buffalo Gap! Make sure to stop and check out the Buffalo Gap village. Thanks for the Awesome meal! Silver Buffalo Saloon
The space is big, the seating is comfortable, and the food is great! We all shared wings (great) and the jalapeno poppers (delicious). I ordered shrimp, and it came with 2 sides. I chose the jalapeno corn, which turned out to be my favorite thing I ate that night, and fried okra. Very generous serving of okra! The buffalo chips starter was great. Someone got that as their meal. I don't think you can go wrong with anything here.
Finally tried out after wanting to go for so long!! Everything was great! We had asada fries, burger, chicken strips, pizza, and mac'n'cheese. My okra was so good and tasted like homegrown! The littles (8 yrs old) ended up eating the pizza. 1 ate half by himself. They really like it. The other food was all good too. Enjoyed the open space (especially with kids you feel like sometimes you're too close to other families) Plus everyone played pool too!!! We'll be back to check out the wings and onion rings next......
As a transplant from the humble hills of California my wife and have spent the better part of a year searching high and low for a restaurant who wasn’t afraid to be bold. The Silver Buffalo Saloon has taken the mantel in all things food, we ordered k-bobs, salmon, wings, a burger, asada fries, fried pickles and mushrooms. The appetizers rolled out comfortably ahead of the main dishes giving us plenty of time enjoy the asada fries which were completed with 100% accuracy, fries perfectly seasoned and crispy, cheese was gooey and the steak bits were packed with flavor. There was not a single dish that tasted the same and the k-bobs were accompanied by earth shattering flavor and a skillful execution on the steak, juicy with a citrus burst with each bite. The cheeseburger was not ashamed of being what it was, the meat was seasoned with another flawless execution on the crust of the burger, the homemade bun nestled the entire burger crafting this treat into supreme greatness. Even though the salmon skin had been abandoned, the fillet was wonderfully soft and juicy dancing on the pallet like it never missed a lesson. The sides could have been their own stand up dish each carefully seasoned with care ensuring there was not single moment of joy missed. Our server Debbie, was patient, entertaining and not afraid to make suggestions on what we might enjoy. Our only regret was that we had zero room for desert! Wonderful place and a repeat customer they have created!
First time out and we loved it! The drive out was beautiful and well worth it! The sign said be ready to wait and we were but we didn't have to wait very long. The service was great our server Debra was so friendly and attentive. They had four call ins and still all the servers were smiling and doing a great job. We had fried pickles and chips and queso and salsa for appetizers and both were great. Our entrees were CFS and Chicken fried chicken so good! Best we ever had! The gravy and seasoning on both were so flavorful! We both had Mac and cheese which was also the best we have had! It was very busy but the place was big and it wasn't so loud that you couldn't have a conversation. We will be back!
We went to the Silver Buffalo on Sunday evening. When we got there, there were only a few people inside, mostly watching the game. I liked the atmosphere. The server was quick, and kept my wife's ice tea filled. My wife ordered the chicken fried steak. I got the Scottish meat pie, which I think was a new item. We really liked our meal. The meat pie was nicely seasoned and I liked the gravy. I had a generous portion of fried okra. They have two sides with dinner, and both my wife and I ordered Mac and cheese. I liked mine, my wife said that hers was "just okay". My wife also said that while her steak was tender enough, she felt it was over done. Our final bill, with a tall beer, ice tea, a side of fried pickles and two meals was under 50 dollars, which I thought was pretty good. I'll definitely go back.
Enjoyed the chicken fried steak and white gravy. Fried mushroom was good also. Sadly restaurant was out of my favorite fried okra. Tried the onion rings, but I was not a fan. Service was fine. Lady was working hard, but she had a lot of tables. A couple of mix ups when auctioning off the food by food runner to party of 6. It was pretty hot due to AC issue. I was there for dinner.
Silver Buffalo Saloon is worth the short drive from Abilene. Food is made fresh and overall was pretty flavorful. The Buffalo chips are loaded with a ton of cheese and what felt like an entire heard of pigs worth of bacon. The potatoes were thin and crispy and not thick and mushy like most places. The queso appitizer, while thick was a tad bland it could have used some seasonings or even some pico, overall it was pretty average queso. For entrees, we had a smothered chicken and a crispy chicken sandwhich. The smotherd chicken was cooked perfectly with great grill marks and smothered with queso and pico. It was extremely juicy and seasoned well. For side, we went with the mac and cheese and jalapeño cream corn. The mac and cheese was again average and pretty bland needed something to make it stand out seasoning or some cheddar or gouda melted on top or even some pepper. But the star of the sides is the jalapeño cream corn it had so much flavor and was extremely delicious. It definitely overshadowed the mac n cheese. Our 2nd entree was the crispy chicken sandwhich, and like the smothered chicken, it was cooked perfectly and was overflowing with delicious juicy flavor, not over or under cook at all just perfect. The bun was made fresh in house according to the waitress, and you could tell. The onion rings we upgraded to were worth the extra dollar and might be the best in Abilene it would be a toss-up between here and Larry's Better Burgers on who has the best in Abilene. Service was excellent food came out got when it was ready and water glasses were kept full. All in all a great experience. We did have to take a star off for a few items. There is 50 cent charges for the salsa with the Buffalo chips and a 50 cent charge for ranch with the sandwhich, even though we didn't ask for either. Additionally there was a charge for credit card usage so be aware.
First time trying, might try again. It was a Sunday at lunch, so I'm not sure if this is the norm. Let's start with the positives. Prices were reasonable and portion sizes were very large. Onion rings were great. Now for the negatives. Service was really bad. Most of our time was spent waiting for the server to come to the table, and this includes before ordering, after ordering, and waiting to pay. I even had to go to the bar to get the check and my water glass was empty for the last 15 minutes. The Our server wasn't unfriendly, but seemed absent from the floor most of the time. Maybe she was also cooking, not sure. Another server for the rest of the other tables was far more attentive, so if we sat 1 table over, our experience would have been very different. We sat at a booth by the front and it was drafty and cold. There were a lot of folks with their coats still on while they ate. It wasn't that cold outside to explain keeping it that cold inside. Food quality: The fried pickles were extremely greasy. The Nashville hot chicken sandwich wasn't good, but it was even worse that it was called/implied a Nashville hot chicken sandwich. The wife had the chicken fried chicken, and had to make several trips to bathroom after we got home. Something wasn't right with the breading or gravy, or the grease on the pickles. The menu had quite a few items that looked good, but I'm not sure if I can convince the wife to give them another try.
Steak had plastic wrapping around it under the fried crust on the chicken fried steak. Additude of waitress was a huff and that's just the way we cooked it. Order was short two sides. . After spending over $100.00 on the meal...an apology and would be appreciated. They did fix another steak after we drove 10 miles into Buffalo Gap to complain about it. But the attitude was really bad service too.
Went in and ordered to go, I ordered a Philly cheese steak sandwich, and it had burnt jalapenos burnt red peppers and burnt onions & cheese sauce was very spicy! No provolone cheese. I also ordered onion rings and could not eat any of the onion rings because they were to salty! I basically threw away $18.00. Service was good, the ladies. were really nice & friendly. I will definitely try something different if I decide to go back.
