The menu is very limited, but the tradition when going there is the steak sandwich. Every time I visit New Jersey I always come visit this place. Sometimes in Florida I dream of eating a steak sandwich from Dos Amigos. This restaurant should become a national chain.

Been going to this place basically since they opened in the 90s. You won't have any other cheese steak like it, plus a great staff that has been there forever. You can smell the greatness just walking by the place. Don't forget though it's Cash only.

I have been coming here for 20+ years and never disappoints. I am only bummed out about the near doubling in price for their sandwiches. I understand inflation costs but it doesn't seem like prices will ever drop below their $12 for $12.50 if you want cheese. Never understood the reason for ordering the Small sandwich for just a dollar less, basically forcing everyone to order the large. Small sandwich = $11 but large =$12 ?! C'mon that just terrible. Still the best steak sandwich in town nonetheless.

My bestie said I had to try, ande she didn't lie. She has been going to this place for over 20 years. I had a sandwich with fries, onions, the most tender, thin cut of beef. The roll was toasted to perfection. They give you ketchup and hot sauce, but I enjoyed it the way it came. It was nice, hot, and each bite was enjoyable. I ate it in the car, so there were no pictures, but mark my word ‼️

This place is great - local staple with fresh food. They definitely got it right … specialized in one specific dish and kept it consistent for as long as I can remember. Please be patient and aware that they are cash only - they have an atm on premises. Image attached was an issue with the parking attendant- says 1 hr free with ticket validation but they charged us with 13 mins left. (had I been the driver it wouldn’t have happened #justsayin- pay attention to the time on receipts)

This spot is absolutely AMAZING. There is only one option. The steak sandwich. And damn it's good. Get the large steak sandwich with cheese and onion. You will not regret it. Each table has a bottle of ketchup and hot sauce that you can add on yourself. Keep in mind this place is cash only and as of the date of this review, it costs $11.50 for a large sandwich.

This is a great place to a quick delicious steak sandwich. The only issue you may encounter is that they are cash only but they do have an ATM on the premises. They do offer however free parking in the rear which is great for anyone that may be coming in a vehicle. Great lunch time spot!

They have really good steak sandwiches. Half a sandwich fills me up and renders me immobile for awhile because I'm so full. I'm assuming that a whole sandwich would fill most normal-size people, which makes it a pretty good deal. Their fruit drinks are really tasty too. If I remember correctly, you order from the counter, and they'll bring you the drinks/sandwiches when they're ready at a table. (I think we sat there for awhile before we realized that.) I think the Google address is incorrect, because the place is actually on 53rd (behind the BlockBuster--try googling 456 53rd Street for a street view with the restaurant/sign). You can get your parking validated for the parking deck next to the restaurant for up to an hour at the restaurant.

throughout the years, we have been customers intermittently. Just a few years ago the "pan con bistec" was about 6 dollars. Absolutely delicious, packed with meat and with fries and everything. Seriously and still is. The only thing that I say is that the sandwhich has become smaller and gradually the price has risen about two bucks. the small sandwhich is 8 dollars and the large is 10 dollars. I understand if it were because of the economy but this was happening way before that.

Paid a visit to Union City a few days ago and ended up buying a great cheese steak from this spot. It was pretty good!! Even my son ate his sandwich and my son is a picky eater so yes definitely a spot to visit atleast once:)

Heard about this place online for their famous steak sandwich and decided to take the trip since it seemed relatively close to my neighborhood. Ended up taking a little longer than usual because its in a very population dense area with a lot of traffic and parking was brutal. I wouldn't say it located in the worst area but it's defiantly not a nice area, anyways on to the food. the restraint itself looks very old and beat up but who cares menu has 1 sandwich on it and it's cash only. Id recommend any foodie to come try this place at least once because its a food journey but the traffic and parking and cash only are enough of a hassle to keep me away unless I'm directly in the neighborhood, also try to eat it there because the trip home will take too long.

The sandwiches and shakes are excellent. The service is not so great. I asked for extra napkins, the lady pretended to put them in the bag, and she did not even give me one napkin. Do you know how messy it is to eat a steak sandwich in the car? I felt like going back to return the food.

Currently biting into mu sandwich as I type. I haven't been here in 3 yrs. I use to love these sandwiches ans would often travel 330-35min for one. Fast forward to today. The steak is soo much thinner and not as much flavor as before. Almost bland now. So disapointed.

Cash Only - its 2022, they cater to an older demographic millennials and gen-z’s don’t use cash. — Steak as pointed in an earlier review is accurate dry, como una chancleta - the fries placed in the sandwich is soggy almost like a reconstituted mashed potato. It wasn’t terrible, but they sure aren’t the “kings of steak sandwich” — Most of the reviewers here probably never had an authentic philly , while you really can’t compare the two, those entering with some sort of comparison in mind will be underwhelmed. — Place was clean, staff was friendly. The shakes were delicious!

Sandwich (Pan con bistec) really wasn't all that impressive. The steak meat tasted like freezer burn and was of poor quality. The shake I had (Batido de Mamey) was fine and creamy as expected, but that's not hard to get right. Service was friendly and atmosphere was adequate.

While eating my food something got stuck in my throat when I pulled it out it turns out to be plastic. When I go back for a refund to let the owner know of the situation he reply's "Stop pulling my leg". The steak sandwiches are good but the guy in the front and the staff are bad. The last two order they got them wrong after being very clear on the phone. The first I didn't take it back but the second time I went back. The guy with the white hair at the register said I was wrong that their employees are never wrong with the orders, the other employees insulted me and one of them told me not order over the و hone and if I didn't like it not to come back. Wowwwww never again going there.

There are no Cuban sandwiches here!!! They offer steak sandwiches and they suck. Dry beef, lousy bread, raw onions (should have been sauteed), and they shove a lot of French fries into the sandwich which takes up so much room that there is hardly any beef (when I was told that the sandwich comes with fries, I never expected the fries to be inside the sandwich; it was a reasonable assumption that the fries would be served on the side). You need to douse the sandwich with hot sauce for it to be edible (they serve Trappey's Louisiana Hot Sauce on every table, and a good thing too because the sandwich really needs it). $8 is a rip off for what could be the worst cheese steak sandwich I ever had. Subway restaurants do a much better job with their cheesesteak sandwich, and that's saying a lot about just how bad this place is. Whoever indicated that this place has Cuban sandwiches should be sued. VERY disappointing. Never again.

I grew up in West New York and I always visited Dos Amigos because they made the best steak sandwich in the planet. I was in Hudson County last week and it hit me to go to Dos Amigos. I bought one for me and one for my wife because she loved them too. Unfortunately, the steak was dry, it had little mojo dressing, and the bread was hard. We were both upset and disappointed 😞. I don't know if they changed ownership or this was just a one-off. I will give them another try when I'm back in West New York and hopefully it will be better.

Service is quick. Meat is not grilled like a normal Cuban style and it's non crispy french fries on it verse chip Style. Based on other reviews i didn't get what I expected. Fyi. They don't have a grill so requesting your meat grilled isn't an option and they serve it the way they do not how the customer wants it and the customer isn't right says the owner. And he isn't cuban.

I haven’t eaten here in about ten years. I went Saturday and picked up three sandwiches and paid a total of $24.30 cash. The owner doesn’t accept cash and I am assuming is to avoid paying taxes. The sandwich has nothing in it but oil drenched fries. No lettuce or tomatoes. The steak is poor quality with much skin. I don’t recommend this. They offer milkshakes and there is plenty of parking if you eat in. If you Want a good steak sandwich, go to Centro Latino on 63rd street and Bergenline Ave. for sure never going back to dos amigos.
