We sat at the bar and Bruce was our bartender! He was AMAZING! We had such a great time with him! Give that man a raise!!!
Didn't have the best experience but our server Kaylee not only took ownership but also made it right. We had a reservation and to be fair the wait for our food was longer than expected and then when it came out it just wasn't good, (both in wrong plates and cold food). I understand that at even at good restaurants that things can happen. Our server made sure that we left without a bad memory and despite a less than faborable meal, due to our servers direct actions we left knowing that we will give it another shot and a mu h better review than planned. Even more so, any restaurant with a server like ours (Kaylee), the restaurant has a better chance when things don't go as planned BECAUSE OF HER and to me- that is beyond rare. Thanks Kaylee.
Came about 4:30 pm on a Sunday (game day, probably made a difference). Other times I'd wanted to come there's a wait- so Sunday might be a good option. Come during summer the outside seating is limited, but nice. Lobster roll was absolutely stuffed with super juicy lobster, the perfect amount of dressing and the bread-roll was just right (not paying for all bread). Calamari was also amasing, tender, tasty. Mom's beer battered fish fry was large and excellent, she got her draft beer that she loves. My cocktail was refreshing and generous in a full glass size. I've wanted to come for years and so glad we were able to. It will definitely be our recurring summer spot after a nice day at the outer harbor. And it's in the naval museum building, if you're into that it's pretty neat.
Always a great time, my favorite waterfront spot! The staff rocks, the drinks are amazing (I recommend the pomegranate margarita) and the food is out of this world! (Truffle fries forever) definitely check this spot out if you're in town during it's open season!
We went on a Tuesday night. The service was great in the dining room and at the bar. Bartenders are very friendly and efficient. We had the pepper cheese dip that was awesome as well as entree's that were great as well. We really enjoyed the evening. The bathrooms leave a lot to be desired but it is apparently not the restaurant that takes care of them but the building itself. Owned by the city? Someone should look into it as well as the AC that shut off half way through our stay there. Other than that, would come back again
One of my favorite patios in Buffalo. This place has a great back deck at Canalside with a view of the Naval Park, and you can catch a sunset over the water. The drinks are strong and they have some great cocktails. The seafood is high quality and their scallops are always cooked to perfection. The portions are large and I always am taking home leftovers or can share a meal with a friend and we are both full. I love this place so much I went for my anniversary last year (July). There is usually a long wait in the summer so make sure you make a reservation or you'll be waiting an hour or more during peak summer time. It's worth the wait though.
Don’t care much for red sauce but I do like that found a way to stay open and help people keep their jobs in winter and at a time when things are closing. Support the pop up idea.
Food and service were outstanding!!! Fresh, flavorful, and so affordable. Our server Naomi was so kind and patient.
Nick was the best bartender ever!!! He dealt with our large party, made amazing drinks and kept his amazing personality! Don't let him slip through your fingers!
Today was the 1st day that restaurants were able to open their patios and outdoor bars following 3 months of lockdown due to Covid 19. The weather was gorgeous and a visit to Liberty Hound was too hard to resist. There was a 25 min. wait to be seated (they are observing "social distancing") so the patio was quite busy. My house margarita hit the spot and the Ahi tuna nachos made with fried wanton skins were amazing. The fish and shrimp tacos were delicious too.
My husband and I had dinner tonight and sat outside. They were really busy but the hostess was able to accommodate us with a table. Our waitress, Alex, was superb! She was very attentive, courteous and checked on us several times to make sure we didn’t need anything else. The meal, which was great, took a little longer to come out and they brought us over a free round of drinks. That was the first time anyone has done that for us. We will be back and hopefully, Alex, will be our server!
This place is great! The outdoor seating has great views and the food and service were amazing, despite it being a busy Friday night. I highly recommend the Hungarian Pepper Dip....so cheesy and delicious! My son had the fish tacos and said they were amazing. I had the fish fry and it was really good....just a bit too much breading for my taste. I would definitely go back!
Great restaurant by the canal. The Jimbalaya was delicious . So were the burger and truffle fries.,the Chicken with Brie cheese, the buffalo shrimps. The drinks were done a bit differently. They gave us an improved version ... we ate till the last bite. My favorite restaurant by the canal
Oh my God! I ordered the seafood plate, and I don't think I ever had a scallop cooked to such perfection! The fish and shrimp were excellent as well. And the spicy Bloody Mary made with jalapeño vodka came garnished with sliced jalapeño! I will come back on my next trip to Buffalo! The staff was super nice and fun. There can be a bit of a wait but it is worth it. If you don't like the idea of standing there while you're waiting for your table then may I suggest a quick visit to the gift shop where you will find a gift for almost anyone.
The PERFECT change-up for cozy city vibes! So glad this local business stayed open for the winter season. The new menu by chef Max is 💯and you will not leave hungry. Parked in the lot by Shark girl and strolled by the lights 🙌🏻.
You know it was a great place to go after one the several boat tours that launch down near canal side ..today it was river a boat history tour ..also very close to the navel park.... out side had a good view of water and the navel ships the fish fry was great..stole some from my wife ... had the chicken and brea sandwich with the truffle Fry's ..also good .
Terrific Italian food on a nice restaurant. Our group had veal parm and chicken parm. Both were excellent. Service was attentive. Extremely hard to park.
Reimaginagination of menu for the winter. Great deal of a dinner for two including a bottle of wine. Delivery available. We will be back
This is a great place to come out and have drinks while enjoying the breeze flowing through Canalside. The views from the deck are great. I would highly recommend the Blueberry Wheat Brew on tap (with real Blueberries inside). At the end of the day you can see people across the canal on boats, having a good time, and even outdoor yoga classes. Note: I did not order any food.
Stumbled upon this place not expecting much but was very impressed! Extremely fresh made in house food which is amazing!! Also be sure you don’t skip dessert, the homemade Tiramisu was fantastic!!!
Service was friendly and helpful. Food was excellent. desserts were fresh and delicious. coffee was an exceptional experience.
Seriously gorgeous view out on the water, wonderful interior, the bar was fantastic and everyone there was really great. The waitress was so nice and personable, I'll definitely be going there more often. The food was also just amazing, and the drink selection wasn't overwhelming and had a great set of choices, something for everyone here!
I went to the Liberty Hound with my family after visiting Niagara Falls and we truly enjoyed ourselves.. Kevin, our waiter took excellent care of us. The food was magnificent!
gorgeous little spot for seafood. sometimes the crowd can be annoying because of the canalside of it all, BUT their prices are good and the filet on the fish sandwich is HUGE. def worth a stop in if you're in the area.
Parmed is a little gem. It's a nice, quiet spot for mingling and if you're in the mood for some straight forward, simple and yummy home cooked-style Italian dinner!
I'm gonna be honest, this place looked like the biggest tourist trap ever with its seaside location right outside the museum. But I was blown away by the food: the calamari was fresh, the fish and chips were well made, and the Yellowfin tuna sandwich was a highlight of my trip. The service was amazing too.
Sat our party of 9 immediately on a Wednesday around 5pm. Service was great! Our server checked on us frequently and was on top of getting our kids meals out with our appetizers. It was a hot day and I appreciated that he left pitchers of water on our tables. Meals were good. Wedge salad came with an enormous breaded chicken. Chicken Milanese was well dressed and Fish Fry had tender battered fish, seasoned fries and coleslaw. Kids meal were generous (for $10.99, they should be). Glasses never went empty. Prices were a little above average, but this is a touristy spot so it would be expected.
Stopped in here on a hot Sunday afternoon for dinner and it was so worth it. I ordered beer battered fish and chips and it was delicious. Cost to eat here was surprisingly reasonable, everything is priced competitive and I would say for the experience you get, it's worth it. The portion they gave was more then generous, if I wasn't starving for food I would have taken some of it to go. The staff was excellent, whenever my water glass was empty they filled it up, they checked in and always made sure we had everything we needed. The outdoor experience was great, boats coming and going by, plenty of seagulls flying around and a few ducks. The navel park is right next door which just adds to the great views. Next time I'm in Buffalo I will certainly come back.
Hello I visited this restaurant today June 21st for my birthday for the first time while visiting Buffalo. We arrived and had to wait a bit but didn't mind because I really wanted to eat here so we waited about 40 minutes, no biggie. We got seated and let me say we somehow got the absolute perfect server named Liz. She was so polite, professional, kind. She warned us the kitchen was backed up which was totally fine the place was packed and we really didn't wait long AT ALL for our food. She was extremely attentive and absolutely perfect despite being so busy and having some rude customers near by. She also made my birthday a little extra special and took some time when it died down to talk with us. If you have employee of the month she absolutely deserves it and give this girl a raise!!! PS the food (shrimp tacos and Hungarian pepper dip) and drink (hurricane alcoholic beverage) I got was 12/10 would definitely go back again when I'm in the area, Buffalo is lucky to have this place!
I have not been here in awhile. I was able to enjoy one of the last gorgeous summer days on their patio. I indulged with a cold glass of rose and was delighted with my shrimp and crab tostadas. I thought this would be a snack with the rising food costs. I was shocked when 2 huge tostadas came out that were loaded with shrimp and crab meat. There was more seafood than lettuce, that never happens. The shrimp were very big, and both seafood items were very fresh. There was plentiful amounts of both pico de gallo and avocado to round this out. The tostadas were crust and a nice crunch to the dish. I was full after this and wanting more. I need to go back very soon! Good service and the patio was perfect. I highly recommend to eat and have drinks on nice weather days.
Parmed was so insanely good! The food was incredible, I would recommend the butternut squash ravioli and the parmed garlic knots. Drinks were lovely and the employees were so kind. I’ve recommended this place to all of my friends and hope they bring it back yearly!
Had such a fantastic date night at Liberty Hound! The weather was perfect, so we sat outside on the patio with an amazing view of the Naval ships, such a unique backdrop for dinner. We started with the Buffalo shrimp, which were crispy and had just the right kick. While waiting on our meals, we got an unexpected treat: a beer sampling from Big Ditch Brewing. Free sips of local craft beer? Yes, please! I went with the chicken tacos special, topped with fresh cilantro, radish, and jalapeño...delicious and balanced with just the right amount of heat. My date had the fish sandwich, which was equally tasty. I paired my meal with a white sangria (they were out of red, but the white was crisp and refreshing). The food and atmosphere were excellent, but what really made it special was how it flowed right into a sunset stroll along the waterfront...such a perfect way to end the evening. Highly recommend for anyone looking for great food, a laid-back yet romantic vibe, and one of the best patio views in Buffalo.
After touring the ships in the naval park on a hot day, we chose this place for convenience sake, but ended up enjoying it so much we want to come back. The food we ordered was very good. I'm going to skip the cocktail next time because it was weak. Our waitress was very nice and attentive.
Absolutely stunning views from the patio. Naval and military park right next door is beautiful and very moving. The food was spot on. Our server was great, and while I don't recall his name, he nailed everything. By the way, the calamari is frozen, not fresh, because we asked. Great place. A must when visiting Buffalo.
This place was amazing! From the hostess to the bartenders, everyone had a great vibe and made the place a lot of fun. Food was amazing. Phil the bartender was a lot of fun and definitely knows his stuff. Ended up running into some locals at the bar who were a lot of fun! Definitely a place to hit when in Buffalo!
Date of visit. Sun Aug 6th Beautiful summer days in Buffalo are best spent on the waterfront. Canalside is an amazing place to spend some time. While we usually find wayerfront restaurants to be bland, boring, and too touristy because their location and views are the draw, this is not the case with Liberty Hound. It has all of the beauty you hope for, but they also k ock it out of the park with the food. We started with the Ahi Tuna nachos, because it was something you dont see very often. The nacho chips are clearly made fresh to order, and the tuna was perfectly done. For our meals, we had the carribean rice bowl with blackened grouper; The shrimp po boy; and the fish & chips. The meals at Liberty hound are nothing short of elevated casual dining. Its not pretentious or expensuve, just good meals well prepared using quality and different ingredients. I didnt expect to be wowed by the shrimp po boy but this was the kind of po boy that authentic cajuns would love. We enjoyed sitting on their patio - which was worth the little wait we had, as we looked out on the water enjoying watching people, the gulls, and taking in the view. The service at liberty hound was exceptional. The food top notch. The only complaint I had was that the Fish in the fish & chips was a little overcooked. otherwise great. And canalside is always a joy to explore when you visit buffalo.
Got together with some friends and went here for dinner. It's mostly a seafood menu, however there are a few non seafood dishes to choose from. I went with the pork chop and grilled asparagus, and it was delicious. The food was great, the service was great, the atmosphere is really cool, it's located in a great spot... just look for the battleships.
Food was delicious and super filling, couldn't finish all of it, but would definitely come back again. The waiters service was pretty good, and quick so not much communication, really good on my part. It had a nice, relaxing atmosphere. Was little windy outside so my hair was a bit messed up. Overall, an amazing experience.
Good experience once inside the restaurant but the surrounding atmosphere leaves something to be desired. Rowdy teenagers and clouds of marijuana permeate the air of the locale. Parking is an issue also as it is in all of downtown. If none of that bothers you then I highly recommend liberty Hound. Otherwise just go during the daylight hours. Once inside the food was great. The servers were attentive. The restaurant was clean and patio seating was available.
The liberty Hound Restaurant is gorgeously situated on the water on the Erie Basin Harbor Walk. We sat at a table overlooking the battleships on their outdoor patio. The ambience was impressive. Service was prompt and friendly. We started with a drink from their Rum Menu and our Favorite the "Liberty Lady" comprised of White Rum, Lime, Soda. Muddled Mint, Srawberries, and Bleberries. It's a fabulous tasting drink not to heavy on the Rum. The mint and berries were crushed together in a medfley of floating color and flavors. Loved it. The Calamari on the other hand left more to be desired. It was overcooked with too much batter which overpowered the Calamari. The batter lost its form off the Calamri and crumbled into piles. This Calamari had a hard act to follow from our 5star visit to Ellicott Brewing company. We will definitely be back here though to try some other items on Liberty Hounds Menu.
Went for for lunch after visiting the children's museum across the street. We were hungry so we decide to just cross the street and see if we could get a seat. It was pretty busy we waited 5 minutes to be seated, but it was out in the hot sun. We were so hungry we didn't care if we sat in the hot sun. It was an hour wait for inside or outside shaded area. We had a good lunch and the view was amazing.
First time visiting and loved the atmosphere outside looking at he water. It was easy to sit and talk with the other people in our party. Smaller menu, but very good food. Fresh seafood and large portion of fish and chips! Shrimp were large and juicy, but not tough. Expect parking to be difficult and add extra time before you arrive.
Overall, we were pleased. It was a Sunday evening and it was packed. We came on a boat and had a 45-60min wait. Our table wasn't called untill 1½hrs later. The food was good but our table of 6 was crowded and the bar and restaurant itself were, too. We left satisfied and full, though!
Went with a group and overall we all enjoyed the atmosphere and food (one person didn't care for her fish and they took it off her check). I had the Liberty Burger and it was delicious! Came with bacon and cheese so that's always a winning combo. The fries were great as well. The biggest disappointment was my cocktail. I got the hurricane and like others in my party who ordered it was not happy with how weak it was. It tasted like there was little to no alcohol in the drink. It tastes like a mixed fruit juice, but no booze. I'd go back, but stay away from the cocktails next time.
It right on the water front and next to the USS Sullivans. Great food, friendly service. People with mobility issues should be aware that the outside tables and chairs are quite high and very uncomfortable to sit on for any length of time. Mom really enjoyed her Blue Hawaiian cocktail. There is no parking. You need to find street parking nearby and pay at a parking station and then walk to the restaurant.
This experience was ambivalent. We called 30 minutes befor hand since we were a big group of 9 people. The person on the phone told us that it was okay and we could come by and there was place outside. Then we arrived and we were welcome by the coldest people that told us it was impossible for us to sit outside so they gave us a table where we had to go back and forth from the bar to our table. We accepted but it was not amazing and the chair were high chairs and we had someone with a cane that cannot really use those. 10min after being in this area, tables where freed, so we asked if we could sit there and the lady really didnt wanna help us and was super rude. Finally we got the table and things got better because Nina took care of us. The food was good and Nina was a sweetheart. To sum thing up; good food, rude staff except for Nina.
The food was not great to be honest, fries are too salty and burger was burnt . The waitress was kind and although u can tell she was busy with other customers was in a rush to make us finish by wanting to take a plate with food still in it and took the condiments while still eating. All in all food not worth the price.
Food and service was exceptional but we had a problem with making a reservation. There was nine of us and I made a reservation ahead of time since I knew that there was many of us. When I attempted to call numerous times and confirm the reservation no one picked up. When one of our group finally made it there ahead of us the girls at the front desk say that they had no reservation for us and I can only put us at a very small table. When I asked them about the reservation they said they never received one and never got a phone call from us. The very young girl at the desk who looked no older than 16 years old then pick up the phone and only then realize that the phone was not working. It never occurred to her that for the hour and a half that they were open already that they never received a single phone call on a very busy day. Although the food was fantastic and the lady serving us at our table was polite and again the food was good we felt very cramped at a small table which was meant for only four people. My recommendation is that to make a reservation and if they don't confirm it don't count that they will have your reservation for you. Also note that the automatically add the gratuity into the bill as well as an additional 3.5% for using a credit card. But they haven't ATM machine in the restaurant in case you want to use cash . And they do not allow you to split up the bill for those who may come from different parties.
Started our experience with a fabulous older gentleman with a beard as the bartender, he was amazing! After he left the bar staff and waitresses started doing shots and no one seemed to know who was a bartender anymore. Excellent beef on weck and truffle fries though!
This place was too crowded so you need to wait for a while. There was a big parking lots and it was crowded so we had to walk. We had salad for the appetizer which was amazing. For me I had the tacos and it was excellent, and my friend had Burger. We shared dessert and it was average. Highly recommended.
While this was not a meal we were unable to enjoy, so much of our order was wrong and the service dragged. This pop up was conveniently located near a great many attractions and we were able to walk right in and have a seat. But if we were local we wouldn’t rush back.
I am incredibly disappointed with our meal this evening. I order the Diver Scallops, and at $32 I was expecting decent quality. The brussel sprouts were hard, I couldn’t even stick my fork in some of the bacon as it was rock hard and burnt and to make it even worse the scallops themselves were burnt. My niece’s hamburger was also burnt on both sides. The service was quick, and the server polite and understanding; so I do appreciate that. But I can’t recommend this restaurant based on the food. This was our first day in Buffalo and I hope it’s not an omen of what is to be expected from a seafood restaurant.
Loud. A tourist trap. Had the roast beef and it was cold. Fries were hot, but chewy. Not worth it.
Place is very popular because of its location. Staff was cool, Unfortunately the food was wack. The rice was undercooked (big screwup for high price dining). The fish was old and flavorless. Note : Hungarian cheese dip appetizer was really really good. Raw rice gets one star usually but cool staff and cheese dip adds one more.
Overpriced for what you get, restaurant was empty, service was slow and I have had a better roast beef sandwich from Arbys. This is what they charge $18.99 for, 1 piece of over cooked roast beef on a small sub roll, with a little bit of mayo and a couple of caramelized onions, it was supposed to have provolone cheese on it, but I asked them to leave it off
Very rude hostess. Wanted to seat family with two toddlers in full sun. Only after asking for manager did we get a table in the shade of which many were available. Food was lower average. We will not be back.
Let's start out by saying what you think would be ahi tuna nachos it wasn't, came in 2 seperate bowls like make your own sushi it was raw not even seared . The shrimp poboy had a crisp outside and the inside was still cold were I actually decided after first bite neither one of us were going to have this . Very unsafe . The atmosphere was great but I would never ever come here again I spent 70$ for 2 meals that we both just threw out after looking at it . Maybe it was just our experience who knows . I'm very disappointed and even worst I lost out on 77$
Went here for my boyfriend's birthday per a relatives recommendation and waited well over and hour and never got more than our drinks. The waiter never updated unless we asked and once we finally decided to leave and eat somewhere else they wanted to charge us for everything even though they said they would only charge for the appetizer and got an attitude when we held them to it and only paid for the appetizer. On the way put other parties we talked to complained about the same issue.
4 adults and 2 young kids, were told "20 - 30 min" wait for a table. Waited 50 minutes before inquiring about our table. Counted at least 10 empty tables, inside and out, that remained empty the entire time. However, staff informed us that even if they could seat us now it would still take at least an hour and a half for the kitchen to make our food. That information would have been helpful up front. Wasted an hour with a cranky toddler and didn't even get to sit down and eat. Went somewhere else. Restaurant manager clearly needs to hire more help and/or properly train staff. Having 10 empty tables during Friday dinner while having an hour-long wait is not a good look.
The service and food is typically slow and sub-par. Management is terrible. Tonight, I watched a bartender fight openly with a waitress. I stood at a half empty bar for over 5 minutes without even being greeted (never got a drink because we were seated for our reservation). I watched a manager aggressively address a group of people outside of her restaurant who were quietly enjoying themselves. Seems like a miserable place to work and definitely not a place I would recommend patronizing for the service or atmosphere.
If I could give a negative star review, I would. I took my sister here for her birthday, and it was the worst service I have ever experienced. The lady behind the bar was inexperienced about the drink I asked for. So she asked another bartender for assistance. To which he was not about at all! Completely rude and short with my sister and I. Then when another party ( of about six people ) came in, he brushed us off and treated them like they were old pals. Oh, it was also one of their birthdays as well. Which he was all about. I could go on about a few more things, but I believe I said enough. I am not interested in becoming friends with this person so I can get the royal treatment. Because that is how I took this place to be.
Today was the last time I will ever bother with this over priced, self important, budget, long John silvers. Drinks? Wrong. Food? Barely mediocre. Mark, the waiter even decided that he was going to be rude. Inconsiderate and unhelpful staff, including the bar tender that lied about the contacts of my drink were the final straw. The service and food were so poor. I couldn't even justify leaving a tip. This may be the second time in my entire life. I haven't left a tip. I will never spend another dime here.
