The Cow Tipper is praised for friendly service, especially from Sarah. Many enjoyed the convenience for breakfast when staying at nearby hotels. Some found the food just okay or overpriced, and the counter service style wasn't for everyone.

Good coffee. Basic yet classy, affordable, and delicious breakfast menu. Spectacular location. Superb customer service
Lovely outdoor sitting with views of cypress trees and refreshing ocean breeze. Food was tasty too.
Really tasty short ribs and pork belly, and the potato soup is excellent. Great service from Jessica.
They have a limited menu for breakfast, but if you want a good basic homemade eggs and bacon, this place is it.
I ordered Cajun shrimp pasta, and it was delicious! The location is a plus, after dinner you just have to cross the street to enjoy the ocean view or walk around the park... I would definitely eat there again.
We have stayed at this hotel lots of times in the past 2 years but due to covid most of the time the canteen was closed . Apparently they hired a new chef in the past month . Last night we stayed and ate dinner at the canteen…, it was DELICIOUS!!! My son and I live in Los Angeles and are total foodies . The short rib and the pork belly were so so so good , we are literally staying an extra night to eat here again 👌 worth it 💯💯💯
Amazing Easter Brunch for $20! High quality, fruit was perfect. Bacon quiche especially good. Bacon just right amount of crunch
Came here for dinner with my significant other and we absolutely loved our food. It was so delicious, very friendly staff, no crazy waitlist, just a super cozy spot and finger licking meals. I will absolutely come here again when I’m visiting and you should too!!
Great food! The cornbread with honey butter is amazing and I do not customarily eat corn bread. Pasta with wild mushrooms, the salmon, and the roasted chicken are a must. Do not hesitate to eat at this spot.
Had dinner and breakfast. Great food. Simple yet super fresh and delicious American classics with a twist. Location is also great and prices are very reasonable. Dont miss the smoked trout bagel for breakfast
Definitely a great restaurant! So happy they reopened! The manager Joe, the waitress and cook are innovative with good ideas for even better food! You all need to try before the word is out and you won't be able to get a seat
Honestly - I dined in a couple other restaurants these days on the West Coast, but the N. Y. Strip Steak I got here was the best I’ve had for a long time! Nice and authentic atmosphere, friendly service.
Amazing dinner, probably one of the best in a very long time. Small salad, Short ribs, filet Oscar and Cajun Shrimp Pasta- all apsolutely delicious!!!
A very nice place to eat breakfast. We have been there several times and love it
Location nice, food was delicious, and great atmosphere! Would return again
Impeccable service, food, and atmosphere! My family and I spent New Year's Eve dinner at the Cow Tipper, and we were impressed by the exquisite hospitality of the server/manager and the food from the chef. It was better than some of the fine dining restaurants in Cambria. We also appreciated the casual, quaint ambience. They made you feel at home, and you don't have to get all dressed up to "be seen". It was nice and quiet so you could hear each other speak. This place is such a gem in Cambria.
Stayed here for a quick trip up the coast and took advantage of there delivery service. I had breakfast in bed and it was awesome! The breakfast burrito was legit and the side of fruit was fresh and a good selection of berries and melon. I had diner the night before at the Cow Tipper and the Halibut with Miso Broth was amazing and fresh. I spend a lot of time up here and this is one of the best places in Cambria to eat.
I don’t usually leave a review unless I think it is well deserved. The dining room is clean, the service was excellent. We had the cheeseburger with fries and salad. The salad was really good and the cheeseburger was cooked perfectly and delicious. The fries were wedge type and crispy on the outside mushy on the inside. All in all we’ll be back here next time we’re in town.
We had just one breakfast with our group of 8, and it was really good! I had scrambled eggs and steel cut oats with berries, nuts and brûléed. The French toast was also very good, though expensive. Coffee is Starbucks. Very clean. When we stay next time I won’t bother going to town unless our group wants to.
My husband and I accidently found this breakfast place on our trip last summer. It was the best breakfast burritto -EVER. The chef took the ingredients I wanted into consideration and made it deliciously wonderful. Highly reccommend.
This is my type of place to eat breakfast. Loved the music choice. I enjoyed the breakfast burrito a lot, service was great.
Breakfast was egg, bacon, and potatoes with toast. Along with cafe lattes. All of it was delicious. Great price, friendly atmosphere and service, overall great place for a meal, especially breakfast 😋.
Best chili ever, root beer ribs were great too! We ate breakfast there too , the classic was cooked perfectly and the Hash was perfect with lots of sausage, 🍠 🌶️ 🧅 with perfect eggs!
Had fish of the day which was Salmon. It was delicious, nice sauce. Came with nice salad. Wish it had come with rice or potatoe & some type of bread. Actually was feeling stuffed after just the Salmon & salad. We had the cheesecake & it was also delicious
In reading the other reviews, all I can say is that folks need to order smarter!! This restaurant provides an awesome service for those of us who want to enjoy a little more vacation time in bed or on our hotel patios enjoying the view in our PJs. The Canteen delivers breakfast to 5 hotels along the coast. Keep travel time in mind while you are ordering. The breakfast burrito and egg/bacon sandwich travel like champs, the 2 Egg Breakfast does not.
Driving along Moonstone Beach area, we found the Cow Tipper and decided to stop for a quick coffee and breakfast. Looked like kind of a fast-food place inside, and we weren’t expecting much. However, the food was great! Three large, fluffy pancakes with added crisp bacon were delicious! Eggs over easy, with chicken-apple sausage and tasty, well-seasoned home style potatoes were excellent! Starbucks coffee topped off the meal. The chef knows what he’s doing!! Also, have to say that the man taking our order was friendly, helpful, and changed the feel of the place from fast food to a welcoming restaurant! He really was charming and we asked his name so we could give a shout out to him. So thank you, Blake, for making our first visit so pleasant! Hope your boss reads this review!!
Sarah knocked it out of the park with her service and care for my family. She anticipated every desire before we asked. She cared beautifully for our grandchildren. Thank you so much Sarah. You made our visit to the Cow Tipper so wonderful.
Great breakfast spot by the beach. The egg and bacon sandwich on sourdough was delicious. My wife had the steel cut oatmeal which she liked. They didn't have cinnamon but they did have honey for her to mix in. We ate and then parked across the street to explore the beach trails. We walked as far south as we could along the coast and it took us at least 45 minutes to an hour one way. So eat a hearty meal and walk it off while enjoying the ocean view.
The breakfast was amazing! Many options from pancakes & oatmeal to sandwiches and trout. I've got a veggie bowl and added chicken sausage. That was delicious! And the portion was really big! I loved it a lot! Fresh brew coffee is also good, smells & tastes well! Even if you don't stay at Oceanpoint ranch that's worth coming for a great start of your day!
A few months ago we stayed at another hotel and ended up here for dinner. The prices were reasonable and the food was amazing. This time we are staying at Ocean Point Ranch. Dinner and breakfast are wonderful. The coffee is dark the way I like it, not too dark and not too light. Having a great breakfast delivered to your room is heavenly.
Absolutely delicious! We had breakfast here all three days. Dog-friendly, which was really important to us. I didn’t understand why so many places around here say “no pets allowed.” So thank you guys for welcoming us! Fresh ingredients, good prices, big portions, and just really, really good!
We absolutely loved this place! The food was incredibly delicious and beautifully presented — every dish was a pleasure both for the eyes and the taste buds. I also want to give a special thank you to the woman who took our order. She was in such a wonderful mood, shared her bright smile with us, and even helped entertain our kids, which made our visit extra enjoyable. We will definitely come back next time we’re in the area!
My family and I ate here both mornings we stayed at Oceanpoint Ranch. The food was great but the service Sarah gave us was top notch! Her cheery spirit brightened our morning and when my daughter made the request for a Minnie Mouse pancake, Sarah didn't hesitate to talk to the chef and make it happen ! Sarah and the staff get gold stars in our opinion!
Enjoyed the restaurant. We have ate several times while at adjacent hotel. They have high quality and fun enjoyable meals. This time I had simple salad with buttermilk ranch, rootbeer ribs appetizer and tropical coconut fool dessert. It was so good I went back next night for same meal! Oh yes and wine and beer available as well!
If you are staying on Moonstone Beach, do yourself a favor and head to the north end of the beach for the best food in Cambria. Had the best breakfast I have had in a long time and although I wished we had time to try them for dinner, we were able to hit them up again for breakfast. The Eggs Benedict were some of the best I have ever had. Pancakes, delicious. Breakfast sandwich, yummy. Everyone had great meals. Breakfast burrito, traditional breakfast plate, oatmeal, avocado toast. No complaints. Rumor has it that the name may be changing but whatever the name, Cow-tipper is the absolute best hotel restaurant I have experienced.
Stopped in for breakfast after a morning walk. Being post COVID, masks are required inside. Service was quick and friendly. The food was tasty. I ordered a hot coffee, the daybreak sammie, and some extra bacon on the side for my pup!
Low key. Delicious and healthy. Good value. Recommend the smoked salmon on bagel, fried egg and avocado sandwich, yogurt and fruit. Anything really!

First off, I am an owner in the Food Industry in another state. I am well acquainted with all the struggles faced in today’s environment… I want to acknowledge the amazing job Sarah is doing. She is unicorn status. Ok, first greeted with a smile and dialogue that said “ I’m happy you're here…. And I’m having a good day” Running what appeared to be a 3 person show, they executed. The food was very good and in these tough times , High Quality. It’s Fast-Casual, so you order at the register. The whole system was explained and where all the condiment stations were. At the stations the condiments were all organized and cleaned with almost AR attention to detail. Every sauce bottle (etc) was wiped clean and faced so perfectly that any merchandising manager would be impressed. In closing way exceeded expectations ( how often does that happen?)
Service was friendly and great! Food was good and excellent what i was expecting. California Bowl and Breakfast Burrito with a pumpkin spice latte all were prepared and served with excellence!!
Wonderful sit-down breakfast. Service is friendly and prompt. Both indoor and outdoor seating.

Decent food and reasonable prices. Somewhat limited menu and pre order and pay before you sit is inconvenient.
Little expensive but very friendly service and great breakfast
This is my first time going there for dinner it was ok ! I was kind of disappointed in their menus choices but I had the chili and it really good . They don’t have gluten free options though . But they do have THE best breakfast menu highly recommended that .
More of a hotel-cafe than a full-service restaurant. Great for a casual bite, but they only serve starbucks coffee.
Had the Cow Tipper burger which was very nice and came with a good portion of chips. Limited menu but some places do that so no problems really. You order at the till and food brought to you. Water available to the side - self serve. Drinks range from beer/wine to soda/juices/water.
We had dinner and breakfast there. For dinner we had mushroom pasta and a fish fish, both were fine and tasted good but the sauces were on the watery side - some place for improvement. Breakfast burrito and yogurt were also satisfying. A bit overpriced, as everything else in that area. The place could be a bit cosier.
Good breakfast options and very convenient if you're staying at the Oceanpoint ranch. Based on the reviews we avoided ordering breakfast to be delivered to our room. We ordered for pickup instead and everything was fresh and warm.
Good for a very simple breakfast. Really good if you can walk on the coastal path from a nearby hotel. Loud dance music during breakfast is very odd. Staff very friendly. Atmosphere lacking for sure. Really just ok.
I was just here a month ago and they had bagel and fish breakfast sandwich with cream cheese. They told me this time they have a temporary menu and it’s not on there. So I ordered eggs, medium, and got runny eggs and mushy potatoes. Bacon was good
This was our second time eating here but our first time trying the dinner. It's a little hidden but it's worth looking for. Their dishes are all high quality 😀. We ordered: A couple of kids meals Cajun Shrimp Pasta and Crispy pork belly 🤤 I highly recommend checking it out. Also might as well take a walk on Moonstone beach while your there.
This wasn't originally our first option but decided to go due to long waiting times on the other restaurant. At first, we were put off by the limited choices on the menu and their prices. The type of service was quite confusing to start with as we entered the shop, and there were people ordering at the till, paying, and then sitting on a table - no waiting service. Then the till man became the waiter serving the dishes and refilling water cups. Strangely enough, we were the only table out of three that was not offered/served water. We had x2 Wagyu burgers with chips, and they were delicious! very moist, flavoursome, and massive in size.
The Wrangler breakfast burrito was epic and a great way to start the day. Short rib for supper was also incredible. Decent IPA on draft, too. Bit on the pricey end but a nice experience. Lovely open fire. Pleasant staff and service.

Food was just okay. Service was friendly. Very limited dinner selection. Nothing to write home about. I have heard breakfast is better.
The menu isn't much and it's expensive as anywhere else, but the service is top notch, it's self serve!
I wanted to like this place cuz oceanpoint ranch is neat but man we waited 45 min for our sandwiches (his- steak, mine- grilled veg) and there was hardly anything in between the panini bread (I was going to take a pic but it was just too sad looking). Guy working there was nice but seemed overwrought (it didn’t seem that busy but who knows what was happening behind the scenes)
Went for breakfast. Portions are small and incredibly overpriced. Took 25 minutes to get a bowl of oatmeal and some fruit. Food was good, but there is room for improvement.
The fruit bowl and yogurt was tasty. Other food didn't look great. Food overpriced, coffee wasn't great and service lacking.
Very loud inside. While breakfast was good, menu had nothing special. Chicken and waffles has been removed. Limited options that one can get elsewhere. Service was fine
Admittedly, I arrived with high expectations from the photos, advertisement, website, and reservation function on Google Maps. It is a good place that could be great. It’s a walk up, cafe style service, not a sit down restaurant experience. Compare it to going to Starbucks. When food was delivered to our patio table, the staff said “Water and silverware are inside,” and then walked away. Eggs ordered “over medium” came out “over hard.” Again, it was decent stuff, but for the price ($40+ for breakfast and non-refill paper coffee cups for two), I expected a bit more service and quality. The staff at the front were very welcoming and friendly. Hopefully management takes these easy opportunities to improve and transform it into a “must visit” place. Tons of potential, but currently not worth the price.
The location was nice. You order at the counter and they bring the food to you. The food was just okay. The Bacon, Eggs and potatoes were just okay. Good coffee though.

Food was okay. I loved the coffee, they serve Starbucks coffee. You order at the counter and pick your table. Some 2 person tables are not comfortable. My husband has long legs and some tables have knobs/wheels underneath making leg space cramped. Overall, a cute place.
This is a counter service, take out, and delivery restaurant. No wait staff. Two in our party enjoyed our breakfast. One of us had to send our meal back twice.

It automatically added a 5$ tip to the order even though it was basically grab it yourself style kinda place and unfortunately when I had received my french toast it was completely uncooked and when I picked it up it practically melted 2/10 experience
Ordered Blueberry pancakes. Nothing special. Butter extenley cold. By the time I tried to spread butter pancakes were ripped to shreds. Syrup was cold. Not good. Sticky syrup all over the table
This is based on a brief experience at Canteen during my visit to cambria on 8.6.20. I called to place take out order but they were insistent on the fact that they don't take over the phone order but I need to do it in person. While this seemed a bit unusual I still decided to go to the restaurant. Once I arrived I got in line to order. Then I began to list the items to the person taking order. On several items I tried to order from their menu found on their website I was told that they either don't carry them or don't have them anymore. So I changed up some orders and told the man what I'd like. Based on their website menu the four items were priced at $10 each. I also placed order for 3 coffee each at $3. I was very specific on not ordering any add-ons. To my sur total came out to 63 and not the 49+tax which I expectrd to be in the neighborhood of 53. I asked for an explanation to why the difference and his reply was "I don't know the computer just came out that way." And he said this bluntly without an attorney to explain. At this point I was pretty much done. I asked for the order to be cancelled and I walked away. The rating I am giving here is based on that experience only and not based on the food. I doubt I'd give this place a try but for anyone wishing to dine here I'd advise to be sure of their menu pricing and their available offerings before venturing over.
Not enough staff to handle the morning rush. Food was ok. Long wait times to order and when the food finally all our dishes were missing items. Limited places for breakfast in the Cambria.
Food was all undercooked and the orders were made incorrectly. Bacon was floppy, potatos were so undercooked. Customer service was mediocre, prices were ok but the food wasn't very good. And im not one to write poor reviews
We were glad the had an outside option. The tables outside had not been cleaned in between use. One table still had a syrup bottle from breakfast and syrup spilled on the table, it was 7pm when we arrived. The next one had salt spilled all over it. The strip steak and the steak sandwich were mediocre. The steak had no flavor. There was little to no seasoning and the steak looked to be slow cooked and not pan seared as it should have been. Steak had gray brown color on the outside. The steak was cooked to desired doneness (medium rare) but without the sear it tasted almost raw. There is no table service here. You order at a counter and they bring out food. For $100 meal this seemed out of the ordinary. At one point we were offered a heater but he could not find one out of at least six that worked. Maybe just a bad day but we will not return here.
Perhaps we were there on a bad day...but...be prepared to wait or bring a snack! A very simple breakfast took over 40 minutes. They are not well staffed. Because it was close, we stopped by but I would not recommend it unless you have no other options and lots of time. It is pricy but in line with other places around the area.
The food was pretty good, with the exception of the pancakes we ordered, which were unfortunately burned and dry. The service, however, was horrible. We didn't get our drinks until we were done eating, and that's only because we had to ask on 3 different occasions.
Went for breakfast per reviews: complete disappointment. First, I chose a bagel instead of toast, add $5.00, just a coffee, $4.50 and multiply that by 2. That’s for two eggs, bacon, potatoes and toast, add two coffees, that shouldn’t cost me $45 + tip (because my hostess was frazzled and apologized for being stresssd), but instead a tasteless meal
I had read this place had good reviews so since we stood at one of their cabins we wanted to try it out. There were 4 other patrons at a table, pretty much empty. Let me get to the point..the ribs were horribly dry and broke apart like wood and was not edible, the mac n cheese did not even taste like actual mac n cheese..it was so weird. I am being truly honest here the chef needs to take a lesson on cooking. The burger was so pink in the middle it was raw however the outside part tasted good..it was a good piece of meat but undercooked. Don't get me started on the "aoli" sauce...just know you were warned. Also the service was like this "here's your menu, 2 min later "what would you like" brought our drinks then food out and only came back to clear our plates..nothing else was said. No "how was your food" or "hey how was everything"
Not worth the $. Five of us ate there this week. I had the cajun pasta which was good. Others in my party had the shortribs chicken & hamburger. Shortribs & fries where cold, Brussel sprouts were undercooked etc. Also, you have to walk up to the counter and place your own order & get your own water but what really irritated me most of all was the “waiter/cashier/host (it’s a one person show) forces you to pay an 18% tip as when paying on the point-of-sale machine by saying “oh & this is the 18% tip screen that I will just tap and accept for you” & then goes quickly on to the next screen so that you can’t change the tip.
Had breakfast. We were told they deliver to our nearby motel however they never answered their phone. So we drove over, didn’t hold that against them. Unfortunately the breakfast wasn’t very good. The pancakes were gummy (and the chocolate chips inside were minuscule, not regular size as their website photos indicate). The bacon was undercooked, the potatoes had some weird, chalky flavoring and also needed longer cooking. Eggs were fine, you can’t mess up eggs, right? The service was good, however we will NOT return for breakfast. Doubtful if we will return for other meals because if they messed up breakfast it’s not likely they can pull off lunch or dinner properly.
The photos of breakfast should be updated. We looked forward to a farm fresh, filling breakfast like advertised. We waited over an hour for uncooked potatoes and cardboard tasting sausage. At $16 a plate! The hotel is lovely but the restaurant was a disappointment
The Cow Tipper is a cute restaurant right next door to Oceanpoint Ranch. When you don’t want to go anywhere for breakfast etc. it’s convenient. It wouldn’t be my first choice for food. 18% gratuity is automatically added to your order. We went there for breakfast on our first day of staying at Oceanpoint Ranch. The breakfast sandwich was flavorful. The breakfast burrito lacks seasoning and is forgettable. The prices are high for what you get. A better place for breakfast is Linn’s which is a 5 min drive down the street. Adding an espresso bar would help elevate their current coffee selection.

According to the Internet and all written info we could find, Canteen should have been open on the Tuesday morning at 9am we went there. Closed without explanation. Likely will try somewhere else in Cambria while we are there in October.
The server had to wear far too many hats, take orders, run food, and bus tables from what I could tell. Food lacked flavor, came for the options but the chicken sausage was dry and hard. Potatoes were eh and sourdough was blah. Don't stop here.
Service was terrible, zero OJ or cranberry juice, at 9:30 am. Burnt pancakes and bacon Runny eggs This place was a one and done
Condition of the cafe was reasonable however the tables were filthy dirty. They look as though the had not been cleaned in a long time. The black paint came off when I tried to clean the table. The menu's were dirty, sticky and old. The food was average.
A nice location at the end of moonstone drive, but that’s the only positive thing I can think of to say. The sausage required significant sawing action to cut, the potatoes were bland, and the eggs … Adequate. The chicken and waffles the wife had were another thing altogether. While described as “chicken tenders” they in no way resembled the name, having the look of driftwood and the consistency of the nails that may have once held said driftwood together. Once you have eaten there you will understand why they charge a 18% gratuity up front (you pay when you order) since no sane diner would tip for such a sorry excuse of a meal. Chew on the flotsam on the beach, it would be an improvement.
We were with a group of 24 that stayed at this hotel and counted on eating here. The majority of our group traveled 3 hours by chartered bus and some people couldn't walk to other restaurants. No one told us the restaurant would be closed the duration of our entire stay, until after we checked in. It was like the bait and switch. A big part of the reason the group selected this hotel was the on site restaurant. On line it said it would be open Tuesday and Wednesday.
They claim to be the best breakfast,. It was mediocre at best. The customer service could have been more friendly knowing that majority of their customers are people from out-of-town. They also have a very limited menu for lunch. Not a very kid-friendly place.
Everyone seems to have waited for at least 30 mins for their food. I only ordered yoghurt and fruit and that took over half an hour too (turned out later, they just forgot it). I got charged the full price even though a main part of the order (granola) was not available and when the food came out, it was still missing a honey drizzle. Clearly when I inquired about it they just shoved some fruit into a bowl of yoghurt and didn't even check what the actual dish was. On the upside, the toilets are very clean and there's plenty of space (though I shudder to think what it would be if more than 3 sets of guests turned up).
Breakfast food was horrible. We had delivered to the Fireside Inn where we were staying. Sad fruit bowl about 1/2 cup $10. Potatoes dry and cold. Eggs ok. Toast dry and old. Forgot the oatmeal completely. Coffee was hot but only one cream and we asked for extra. $40 for food we threw out. I suggested that the Fireside not recommended this service to their customers. Seagulls enjoyed the toast
Don't order breakfast from this restaurant if you're in a hotel room on moonstone Beach. Our meal is over an hour late. I'm starving and annoyed. Steel cut oats were like glue , no brown sugar as advertised and only 4 very thin slices of banana. Not only two slices of bacon as a side order. Usually it should be four. And everything except the steel cut oats was thrown into the same container eggs bread sausage bacon potatoes everything was very soggy worth the money!!
First and foremost, the staff was wonderful. Service fast and a pleasant attitude. Now... My one star is for the business itself. 1) If you are catering to multiple businesses, including hotels, and you have a contract to do so, you should never run out of items. Especially if you say you are going to be able to deliver these items to said hotel room doors at any time while open. ( This is advertised at said hotels. ) 2) A breakfast-concentrated business should have omelets. Hard stop. 3) If you are the only business nearby who provides coffee, you should never charge for a refill. Your larges are not enough. 4) Please provide vegetarian options that are not a burrito. We don't want potatoes. We want vegetables. We know you have them. They are down the road. Make an effort.
Great outdoor patio for me and the dog. Came here based in reviews. Rotten coffee in a paper cup. Semi warm french toast with what most likely were frozen bananas that were soggy. Cold bacon. All on a plastic plate. They make you pay upfront. Wish I hadn’t. I left the barely eaten food on the table.
We ordered a $60 breakfast to go as this place was advertised by our hotel. The delivery was late, it looked like it was literally thrown together in the box, no napkins, NO SILVERWARE, and the food was absolutely disgusting. I’m not sure how you mess up eggs but if you want to learn give them a call. This is what a $16 breakfast tostada from this dump looks like.

My husband and I went in for breakfast due to the fact that they advertised that they do room service but that was false! The girl at the register looked like she hated her job but the waitress was friendly. The fact that u have to get ur own utensils is weird but ok. Over all the breakfast was awful! My toast was burnt and cold and the pancakes was like eating cardboard with syrup! I had gotten the blueberry pancakes which I accepted the blueberries in the pancake not on the side and they tasted awful! The skillet potatoes was very good tho. Sausage was disgusting. Considering that it’s such a small menu it should be outstanding especially for what u pay! It was over all disappointing won’t go back again!
