I had the loveliest Mothers Day brunch here, we had a cliff ocean view. The Creme Brulee french toast. Chris LeBlanc our server was exceptional & kind enough to mention my first Mothers Day at the Cliff House in 2013!! Highly recommended The Cliff House Resort

The food here is incredible. From the chicken sandwich that my wife called "the best she ever ate" to the amazing lobster poutine that's worth the visit alone, this place is tops. Also the ambiance, service and drink selection is fantastic. Always be skeptical of the rare two and one star reviews when the rest are 5s. We've all met those kind of people.

If you can’t get a table don’t hesitate to eat at the bar! The bartenders are attentive and personable. With all the drinks flowing by, you get dinner and a show😊

Couldn’t be happier with my experience. Fantastic views, food, and service. Would definitely go back. Had the scallops and lobster roll both phenomenal 10/10.

Lauren - you are a rock star!! We had a fabulous dinner, from start to finish. We were greeted with smiles and sat immediatley. We arrived at sunset so we missed what we are certain would have been a spectacular view. (Already planning our next dinner there!) We started with the suggested dishes from Lauren: house made focaccia bread with their house made maple butter, along with roasted garlic and ricotta spread. FABULOUS!! The maple butter was not overly sweet, just perfect. The roasted garlic and ricotta were the absolute best pairing with the soft, delicious focaccia bread! I also followed Laurens recommendation and had the lobster corn chowder. So good! The chunks of fresh lobster, creamy corn and potatoes - all blended so nicely. I could have had this and the bread for a meal. But I'm glad I didn't stop there! The scallops were perfection! My husband had a lovely glass of Belvenie 12 Scotch, then the mussels and said the sauce with them was excellent. He had the pork chop and a side of root veggies ( rutabaga, turnip, carrot, turmeric herb oil) for his meal. All were cooked beautifully and tasted terrific...and he's quite picky being the chef he is. To end, he had the tiramisu cheesecake...which he said was a great blend of the two dishes. So good! The little things that Lauren and the other staff did just went above and beyond to make our visit perfect. Always a full glass of water (and she kept the ice glass I asked for full the entire time - even when I wasn't looking!), a lovely caraff of water, two spoons for the dessert (even though I couldn't have eaten another bite!). The staff around her cleared the table between courses, kept the water full and were just pleasant...including a check-in from the manager! We are already looking forward to coming back, not just for dinner, but also to stay for a night or two to soak up the beautiful Maine coastline. Thanks so much, Tiller!!

The Tiller Restaurant at The Cliff House is a great way to explore Cliff House if you can’t stay the night. We went for lunch last week and it was a rainy and gray afternoon. We tried to get a window table, but all were in use. The host did a good job at getting us the next best table, and my friend and I sat side by side so we could look out the windows. Even on a gray day, it was still a great view of the ocean. I got the Wagyu Burger and truffle fries, and it did not disappoint. My friend got the beet and salmon salad, and she had no complaints. We split the Maine Blueberry Patisserie, and it was very tasty. Everyone we interacted with was friendly and helpful. We explored the hotel and grounds after lunch and what an amazing place! I would love to stay a night next summer and take advantage of the pool and hot tub! There are stairs down to the cliffs and rocky area, and I would have gone down there if it hadn’t been raining. Plus the gardens looked really cool too, but again it was too wet to explore. Overall a beautiful place!

This is the story of two locals who take a flyer at a new restaurant on Saturday night of Labor Day weekend. Where did we go? The Tidemark Bar at the Cliff Hotel in Cape Neddick, Maine. The place was jumping and basically SRO. You’d expect hiccups on such a busy night—but we didn’t experience a single one. Food was beautifully prepared and presented. And the wait staff—gracious and attentive (Hector & Jana specifically)! We split a beet salad. Excellent. I had the fish and truffle fries, also excellent. My dinner partner had the pork panini which was on par with everything else. The piece de resistance—a chocolate chip cookie ice cream sandwich to beat the band. Bravo all!

What an experience! From the incredible views to the delicious food presented, to the friendly and knowledgeable staff, this was more an experience than just a meal. Every dish was beautiful presented and prepared in a way footlights the fresh high quality ingredients. I highly recommend sitting at the terrace for your meal on a nice night especially for a special occasion.

The view is INCREDIBLE!! Came here on our honeymoon and just went back for dinner on our 5 year anniversary. The food was 10/10 this time, and they always celebrate big occasions with you with a free celebratory dessert! Expensive but worth it for a treat every once in a while. Love being able to get a drink and look at the ocean before dinner and then walk out on the rocks after dinner for sunset.

Spectacular Views: This is arguably the restaurant's biggest draw. A wall of windows ensures nearly every table has an uninterrupted view of the ocean, from dramatic sunrises to romantic sunsets. Upscale yet Inviting: The decor combines contemporary design with charming rustic elements, creating an elegant and bright dining space.

We stayed at the Cliff House for four nights in mid September 2023 and ate both breakfast and dinner here several times. The views are breathtaking if you get a table by the window, but even if you don't the restaurant has a very nice upscale ambience. No, this is not inexpensive, but the food and service are first rate, plus the chef was very accommodating to my wife's food allergies and prepared a specially made dinner for her more than once. All the food was delicious, fresh, and nicely presented. Portion sizes were very good. Prices were on par for other upscale restaurants we have gone to. We have vacationed in this area for years and have dined at many other restaurants. For fine dining this is definitely one of the better places.

We went to the Tiller Room at the Cliff House for my mom’s and uncle’s birthday dinner! We had such a lovely experience. We started in the lounge with drinks and appetizers while watching live music by the fire and then migrated into the dining room. The wait staff was accommodating as we had some younger kids with us! Overall, we had such a lovely night! Hopefully, we will go back soon for another great dinner!

Our first dinner of our honeymoon at The Cliffhouse was at The Tiller! The servers were extremely professional and attentive, and we thought they had a great menu here. My filet mignon was cooked to a perfect medium rare and was incredibly tender. The focaccia bread appetizer was nice and garlicky, though I could’ve used a bit more ricotta on the board. My husband enjoyed his scallops and lobster fried rice, and we shared a decadent chocolate cake topped with macerated strawberries. We had a perfect view of the ocean, and we couldn’t have asked for a nicer start to our vacation!

Beautiful views from your dining table overlooking the the rocky coastline! Lisa took amazing care of us at dinner, she's really fun and knowledgeable, she also sought us out when we came back to dine even when we were not in her area. Food is very good overall, a few items were hit or miss. Steamed lobster is great and they will take it all out of the shell for you, if you get a chance to have the lobster chowder, don't pass it up, they put crumbled bacon in it and it's fantastic! Shrimp cocktail was excellent, so were the oysters, but we did not like the Seafood Tower that had salmon on it and some crab spread, not the ideal items for this type of presentation. Solid breakfast and lunch, we worked with Cavane and he was amazing, very outgoing and positive. Bartenders are really great, special recognition to Zoe, Paolo, and Hector (he makes the best Paper Plane cocktail ever!). Finally, I just want to thank Wendy at the host desk, on our first night we randomly had some friends that were going to be in the area for 1 night, she was able to take our dinner party of 4 and turn it into 8 with no notice and no real availability in the restaurant.

Great ambiance and atmosphere. The view is just impeccable and makes some of the pricier food options worth it. The server offered great advice on bottle selection and wine pairing.

We went there yesterday for dinner to celebrate our anniversary. Beautiful view from the restaurant. The receptionist arranged us the table next to the window. The food is delicious. I got the short rib and it’s an excellent choice. My wife had the scallops on fried rice and it’s very good also. We also ordered the dessert and at the end, the waiter told us the dessert is on the house. Wow, what a treat. Thanks all the staffs and the manager of Tiller restaurant. We had a very wonderful dinner for our anniversary.

My husband and I celebrated our anniversary at the Tiller. It was our first visit and it was so special that it certainly won't be our last (I've already booked Mother's Day 2026!). The view is unparalleled but even more spectacular was the service we received from our server, Jason. Jason gave us the best service in a restaurant that we've experienced in years! He anticipated our every wish and whim making our experience at the Tiller exceptional and oh-so-memorable. Also worth noting was our host, Abigail who also went above and beyond to make our evening extra wonderful. The food was very good (particularly the oysters) and we are excited to return.

Wow! Just wow! Amazing place to dine - GREAT food, FANTASTIC service, and an AMAZING, sweeping view! Just a home run. Went for a business brunch and was pleasantly surprised at each step. First, when we weren't sure where the restaurant entrance was, I asked a gentlemen that clearly worked for the resort. He said, "I'm the head chef and going there now, I'll walk you." And so it was that we met Chef Kyle and chatted with him as he escorted us across a beautiful patio overlooking the ocean, an outdoor gas fire surrounded by Adirondack chairs, and a gorgeous granite staircase down to the entrance. Our server was attentive and polite, answering every question about different dishes and recommending complimenting drinks. The food was beyond delicious and was esthetically pleasing. An absolute 10/10!

Dining at The Tiller at Cliff House Maine is nothing short of an extraordinary culinary experience. Set against the dramatic backdrop of the Atlantic Ocean, this restaurant masterfully blends refined coastal elegance with sophisticated New England charm. From the moment we were seated, the service was exemplary—gracious, attentive, and impeccably timed. The evening began with handcrafted blueberry mojitos, an exquisite tribute to Maine’s signature fruit. Perfectly balanced and delicately refreshing, they set the tone for what would be an unforgettable meal. The lobster and seared scallops were exceptional in every regard. The lobster was remarkably fresh, sweet, and buttery, highlighting the purity of world-class Maine seafood. The scallops were expertly prepared—silky and tender with a golden caramelized sear that showcased true culinary precision. Every element of each plate, from flavor to presentation, revealed thoughtful artistry and respect for local ingredients. The atmosphere at The Tiller is both luxurious and inviting, with panoramic ocean views that elevate the entire dining experience. It is the seamless harmony of setting, service, and cuisine that makes this restaurant truly remarkable. For those seeking a memorable fine dining experience in Maine, The Tiller stands in a class of its own. A flawless five-star experience from beginning to end.

Go for the million dollar view! It’s a lovely dining room, smartly decorated with impeccable staff. Our waitress was so very gracious. The food is good. The Cliff house burger & fries for lunch was decent. Nubb’s lobster roll was very fresh, although overly mayo’d for my taste. Certainly, the crashing waves on rocks steals the show here without a doubt.

Delicious food, but very expensive. Good service. Nice location at cliff house with nice ocean view. Paid $60 for lobster gnocchi which is outrageous! Definitely a splurge.

Ate here for thanksgiving dinner. The turkey dinner felt mass produced but wasn’t terrible. Expensive menu but delicious. I went with the scallops with lobster rice it was great. Cornbread was bland. Brussels sprouts were awesome. Our waitress was great as well.

Service was great for all the meal times we spent there. Food was tasty, but breakfast menu was a little limited. I had their crab + chorizo breakfast burrito, for breakfast, and their skirt steak during a separate dinner visit. Cocktails were probably the best part of both visits. Not sure if I’d go back with so many great restaurant options nearby in Ogunquit.

Celebratory brunch! Mid week, late fall. Quiet for brunch. Awesome views. Classically subdued nautical themed decor. Food is plated beautifully (esp the deconstructed Caesar salad). Service was amazing (but it was relatively empty). The food was good. We had root veg Benedict, short rib beef hash and the short rib beef fusilli. Desserts are portioned to share. Nov 2025.

Great view, but breakfast menu does not do a good job describing what you are going to get. The açaí bowl is melted and mixed with yogurt. The French toast is not stuffed with dulce, simply has a few dollops on the plate which is not enough to prevent the toast from being quite dry. Orange juice seems pressed but was sour. Great server. I’d go back but with better expectations.

T

If nothing else—go for the view. This hotel restaurant has a fabulous view of the rocky coastline! Nothing more therapeutic than looking out to the crashing waves. The food was disappointingly average. The lobster for the lobster roll was generous, texture cooked perfectly but taste fell flat. The toasted brioche bun was a little soggy. The fries would have been perfect had they been hot. The cardamom crème brûlée was not strained so I had a small piece of formed egg remnant and the cardamom was just settled at the bottom and not mixed in throughout. Food alone would be a 2 but service and view increased rating.

Great hostess for breakfast and dinner. Nice servers but for both meals they totally disappear for very long periods of time, managers in suits walk around but do not chip in to help, sad. Food is great though; for dinner oysters as appetizer were amazing, coffee rubbed skirt steak & lobster with lobster fried rice were excellent. For breakfast seared salmon on toast was excellent and the crab, chorizo burrito was good but I would get the potatoes on the side next time (not in filling).

The Tiller Restaurant, nestled within the Cliff House Maine resort, proved to be a delightful culinary pitstop during our stay. The highlight for me was undeniably the succulent lobster rolls, a dish that truly captures the essence of Maine. Beyond the food, the service was commendable. Our toddler daughter was met with warmth and hospitality, and the presence of a kids' menu was an added bonus. But perhaps the most memorable aspect of The Tiller is its stunning location. With panoramic views of the cliffs, every seat offers a visual treat. Even the gray veil of an overcast day couldn't diminish the beauty of the seascape before us. Our experience was so positive that we're already eager for a return visit.

The Tiller stands out as a gem in the dining scene, particularly for its consistently exceptional drinks. The bar at The Tiller is a testament to mixology expertise, with each sip of their carefully crafted cocktails being a delightful journey of flavors. The attention to detail in the drink selection and presentation is commendable, making every visit a unique and enjoyable experience.

Wow what a view. The ambiance is incredible and the seats were super comfy. The food was good but not great. The pork chop was of excellent quality but the sauce that came with it did not taste great in my opinion. The cranberry compote was very bitter. The scallops and lobster fried rice were also good but not great. The fried rice felt like it had been sitting and the sauce that came with was straight up mayo. Basically they need to get their sauce game on par with their food quality. We will be back and had a great evening, the mocktales were incredible.

You come to the Tiller for the atmosphere. The Cliff House hotel and the restaurant are both jaw dropping. The food is really good to boot. We enjoyed the hummus plate, short rib, scallops, and an out of this world peach cobbler cheesecake to finish. Knocking a point off for a lackluster birthday acknowledgment. We had mentioned to the host and the server my wife’s birthday and never received any kind of special treatment.

During our stay at the Cliff House, we dined here twice for dinner. The wait staff was excellent on both occasions—attentive, friendly, and consistent. In fact, the service throughout the hotel was impressive, especially considering we visited during the off-season in November. Unfortunately, the food did not match the quality of the service. The French soups were excellent and one of the highlights of the menu, as was the focaccia bread appetizer. The braised short rib was another bright spot—flavorful, though on the smaller side. Other dishes were less successful. The mushroom rigatoni was average; not bad, but nothing memorable. The Caesar salad was a miss—served as an uncut half head of lettuce, which made it awkward and unappealing. I wouldn’t recommend ordering it. The pork chop was disappointing as well, consisting mostly of fat and gristle, and not something I’d choose again. The seared scallops were also poorly executed: over-seared on one side, undercooked and rubbery on the other, resulting in an unpleasant texture. Overall, the exceptional service couldn’t quite make up for the inconsistent and often underwhelming food.

Stunning location and a stunning property, but a very disappointing restaurant. The food was awful and the pricing lacks justification. The view alone is the reason I'd consider returning, though. Redemption? We'll see.

Views were stunning and service was good. We were incredibly disappointed by the prices vs the portion sizes. The scallop meal was 4 small scallops. One person in our group ordered chicken gluten and dairy free- others got a corn bread side, this one came with nothing. A side should have been presented especially considering the price paid. We ordered 2 orders of bread and the baby in our group wanted one more piece. They said it wasn’t possible to bring one piece to the table. Seems crazy after we paid $24 for 8 pieces,- you really couldn’t spare one more? One member ordered steak medium and it came out well don’t. Won’t be back- save your money.

We were there Sunday, September 14, 2025. The restaurant and the views are awesome . We had reservations . We had dinner there the week of our honeymoon. I order the Lobster dinner... I guess I should of asked. The lobster was ordered the lazy style. It came with mashed potatoes and pole beans which was very good. The lobster was tough... I even asked our waitress for a steak knife to cut it. When we got the bill the lobster dinner was a shocking $115.00. I definitely don't feel this dinner was a $115.00 dinner. $80.00 at the most. I was very disappointed. Sorry. After that I started to ask the price. I had lobster in Nantucket a few nights later at a very nice restaurant as well... It was delicious and it was no where close to the above price.

As others have said, the view is spectacular and the service workers are very nice. I'd like to complement the hostess and the server. The prices are high, but it's a luxury hotel. The problem is the food. I ordered a smoked salmon and bagel and requested no cream cheese. They brought the sandwich (with a few cut cherry tomatoes on the side) with a huge mound of what appeared to be smoked salmon. On closer look, it was a full bar of cream cheese wrapped inside the salmon. It was crazy. The beet salad also had some cream cheese in it. Who does that? I felt it was an insult from the kitchen, and the server confirmed that he told them no cream cheese. Also, they forgot to bring my juice. $24 for the smoked salmon sandwich and $10 for the juice. If it was great, I'd have no problem. But this was mediocre in my opinion.

B
Brenda Gutierrez

The food was pretty bland and the view wasn’t as spectacular as I expected. Unless you have a table at the back of the restaurant, you will be pretty disappointed with the view- and given your seating, will need to turn around to see all of the amazingness. Moreover, the truly disappointing part was there weren’t any dairy free dessert options- unless you count fruit. Also, there’s not much of a celebration for a special occasion- like a birthday. If you would like to take the chance- fingers crossed you get an oceanfront table- I would recommend skipping breakfast/brunch, and attending for dinner, as dinner was a little better than breakfast/lunch. Overall, given we went twice, and still no luck for the ocean view seating, I would only return for the amazing customer service. Specifically, our waiter, Omar, made the experience special with his charismatic personality! Thank you, Omar, for an amazing service!

I came here for lunch with a group (9 total) after a morning at the spa. Due to the size of the party, I called 1.5-2 months in advance. I was told they could not physically accomodate a party of more than 8 inside at the Tiller (unless it was a child with a booster seat), thus the private room would be required. Additionally, they said the outdoor Terrace could only fit more than 4 people per party. One member of our party therefore elected to get lunch elsewhere. Upon arrival, two tables were put together with 9 chairs (could fit 10), so our friend could have dined with us. Additionally, outside (see picture) they could fit 5-6 at a table and had room to combine tables. Obviously they lied to try to book up their private room and charge additional fees. The food was decent (nothing special) but the waiter was great. Unfortunately, because of the restaurant’s shenanigans, I will absolutely not dine here again.

P
Puffer

Sadly, we were pretty underwhelmed by the food. I ordered the lobster Cobb, and the lobster was almost nonexistent—maybe three very small pieces. The tomatoes were past their prime, and the dressing was extremely thick, more like mayonnaise, with a similar taste. That said, our server was wonderful and very attentive, and the views were absolutely stunning.

This was our first night at the Cliff House, and unfortunately the experience at The Tiller was disappointing. We walked in a little before 8 PM hoping to sit at the bar since dinner was fully committed, which we completely understood. When a couple got up, we asked the bartender if we could take the additional chair for our party of two. His response was, “Sure, if it fits,” (see photo below). We then asked the host if he could help us move the chair, since it seemed like seating was being left for guests to figure out on their own. Instead of assisting, he just watched as we struggled to reposition the chair ourselves to make it “fit” at the bar. On top of the service issues, the food was disappointing as well. The focaccia bread came out cold, and so did the scallops dish. For a resort of this caliber, we expected a much better experience. Overall, a very underwhelming first night.

Came here for a birthday/new years eve lunch because it's about halfway between the people attending. Location is absolutely stunning. As I mentioned, we came here for a birthday. I asked the front desk if I could bring a cake in, and was told no problem, but there would be a cake cutting fee (which I expected), and no candles (fine, we'll all live). I thought I'd have time to walk the cake to the host before the birthday girl arrived but she was early, so I asked the hotel front desk to help sneak it down as I didnt want to ruin the surprise. Immediately upon being seated, I was loudly asked, at the table in front of the group "what do you want us to do with the cake?". I'd have expected a little discretion or attempt at being sneaky, the surprise is gone but we're all adults. I say we'd love to have it served for dessert, after lunch (I want to input a 'duh?' Here because I feel like its standard operating procedure, but I don't want to be rude, obviously they are not very experienced in the service industry here. I also want to mention that we had friendly banter with both the host who seated us and the waiter about celebrating a birthday, and whos birthday it was. In addition, the birthday woman had multiple gifts and flowers in dront of her. Hard to miss). We all order, the waiter is patient and friendly with our children, our food comes out in a timely manner. I mentioned food allergies, it did appear our dishes were changed to accommodate but not much mention was made when they were served, which I find mildly concerning. Our food: kids meals were fine, the gluten free chicken fingers were especially good. I had a disappointing eggs Benedict. The yolks were fully cooked through, and the hollandaise was sparse and cold. My husband said his meal was 'fine'. Now the cake time. I thought it had already been sufficiently fumbled but I was impressed with how far we could fall. The cake was brought out, still in the container, and placed unceremoniously on the side of the table. Dude. Respectfully, I thought this was supposed to be a nice restaurant in a nice hotel? I was pretty clear after the surprise was given away that we were having the cake after our meal. Its not like I asked for a song and dance but plates and utensils might have been nice, maybe take it out of the Tupperware and present it to the birthday girl? In summary, I had higher expectations for service given the location and the prices, our waiter was lovely and friendly but it was clear to me the staff has never received training in service besides how to take an order and drop it on the table. I certainly wouldn't say my experience was ruined, but I was *very* surprised at the lack of attention to detail. I'd probably consider returning for drinks, because the location is so gorgeous, but overall I was let down by the experience.
