Just had the best experience at Bill’s for a 21st birthday. We all know milestone birthdays can be a bit chaotic to coordinate, but the staff here made it so easy. The service was honestly amazing—super high energy, really welcoming, and they genuinely seemed happy to be part of the celebration. They didn't miss a beat with the drinks or the food, and they handled the "birthday bits" perfectly without us even having to ask. If you're looking for a spot that actually gives a damn about your big night, go to Bill's. They made the whole vibe so special. Huge thanks to the team!
This is a great restaurant. I went here to celebrate my wedding anniversary and had such a lovely evening. The staff were so lovely, and they made us feel welcome. I had the buttermilk chicken burger, which is really nice. I've had it before, so I knew it was a good choice. But it was the first time we'd tried the salted caramel and chocolate brownie pot. It's one of the cheapest desserts on the menu, but it doesn't dissapoint. It is so rich and delicious. It was the first time I had been to this branch of Bill's, having previously gone to the one in Central Cardiff. And I will definitely go to the Cardiff Bay branch again. Thanks to the staff for making our evening special.
We went to Bill’s in Cardiff Bay for Sunday lunch as a family of four and had such a brilliant time. The food was spot on. We all went for the fish pies for mains and they were genuinely beautiful. Full of flavour, and perfectly cooked. The kids were buzzing about their milkshakes too (major win with ours!). The real highlight, though, was the service. Heather looked after us and she was amazing. Friendly, attentive without hovering, and absolutely brilliant with the children. Every team member we interacted with was the same, helpful, positive, and clearly happy to be there, which makes such a difference. It also just felt like a relaxed, welcoming place for families. No fuss, no stress, and all the little touches made it an easy, enjoyable meal from start to finish. We’ll definitely be back.
Been there with hubby and our daughter on Bank Holiday. Really good atmosphere and even though it was busy, they had plenty of sitting area. Kids eat for free which is great and they also have a separate menu for children with plenty options. We had BBQ bourbon burger which hit the spot ! As a dessert we tried their pancakes 🥞 Staff were nice, friendly and very helpful. Will definitely visit again when we will be in Cardiff ! Thanks to the team and kitchen :)
I popped in for a late lunch and received a very warm welcome. The food I received was delicious and clearly freshly cooked. The service was quick and the price was very reasonable. I will most certainly go back. I'm sorry that I can't put my servers name in this review, it sounded slavic to me. I am hopeless with names! but I do thank you for a great meal and welcome.
Bill’s – Consistently lovely, always happy to return ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ We’ve been coming here on and off every few years since 2019, and it’s always a pleasure. The staff are genuinely friendly and welcoming — our dog was absolutely adored and even treated to ice cream, which was a lovely touch. The food was good quality, well cooked, and tasty. I had the chicken schnitzel, and my wife had the Thai green curry — both enjoyable, though we’d personally like just a touch more seasoning. That said, it certainly won’t stop us coming back. And honestly, the breakfasts and pancakes are reason enough on their own — absolutely brilliant every time. A reliable favourite and somewhere we’ll happily keep returning to.
I had a brilliant evening out! The staff were super friendly, and the food was absolutely delicious—definitely hit the spot. I loved the variety on the main menu and didn't even feel the need to try the Christmas set menu. Everything from the drinks to the atmosphere was top-notch. I’ll definitely be back for more!
Took my 6 and 3 year old to bills yesterday for the first time for lunch! Had such a wonderful time. Luke served us and he was so good with us and patient with the kids, they loved him. Food was amazing, can't wait to come back!
Fantastic atmosphere and service. Went to celebrate my mother's birthday and everyone involved really enjoyed. I forgot the name of our waitress but she was fantastic, very attentive and friendly. Would highly recommend
The atmosphere in bills is exceptional and a very calm place, with a amazing interior which is very well decorated. The food is top notch from the starters to the pudding its great! The staff are very friendly and always happy to help! Would highly recommend!
I rushed in here and asked if we could have breakfast to go, as we were cutting it close for a scheduled tour. They were super nice and accommodating and the food was the best we had in Cardiff!!! It was so good that we went back for lunch! 😊 The tables are a little too close for my taste so be ready to be close to others but lovely atmosphere and beautiful water views complement the delicious food and great service. Their Immunity smoothie is a must try!
We called in here for lunch following a walk around the Bay. The service was excellent from every colleague that engaged with us. They offered recommendations and all seemed very happy. It was a scorching day outside and they even came and offered us a move to a table in the shade when they could see we were struggling with the heat 🥵 The food choices across the menu were very good. Lots to choose from depending on how you feel. The specials menu was also available with some other options. Music playing at a low level, almost the perfect volume to support the atmosphere. The only negative about the visit was the fact that we were asked five times about allergies. Whilst I get that this is important..they need to have a process to ask once..five times became borderline frustrating..that being said, other than this, the service was excellent. We were very happy with our choice to eat at Bill’s. I would highly recommend this place if you are passing and looking for some food or drink.
What a spot! Randomly saw they were featuring bottomless pancakes, brought our whole team.. everyone is in pancake bliss! Great spot 🙌👌👍
Really enjoyed our visit. Wish they had Welsh draught beers, but the Peroni was great. Fish pie was fantastic, best I've had, delicious with chunks of tasty smoked seafood topped by aged Cheddar mash. Great burger too. Cheery service. Well recommended.
This was an amazing experience, the food and the staff were so lovely, and my husband and I enjoyed our anniversary sharing platter and house salad. Would really recommend the food here.
Very delicious breakfast and good service. I got the traditional breakfast and swapped the mushrooms with fried potatoes, and had beans as an extra side. Nice English breakfast tea too! The sourdough bread and the butter were delicious.
Absolutely fantastic meal. Great service, great value for money. Friendly and oh so busy! Book book book! I have my own weight loss channel and prove to people you can indeed eat out eat gorgeous food and still lose weight. Fat2health is my channel. X❤️
Absolutely fantastic experience at Bill's in Cardiff Bay. We turned up without a reservation and despite the place being quite busy, we were seated promptly and drinks orders taken quickly. I'm Coeliac which means boring gluten free dining, but in Bill's there is a whole gf menu so I didn't feel left out. I had the Fish Pie and Banoffee Sundae, both of which were different from usual gf options. They also did a gf IPA which I wasn't very keen on but nice to have the option. We were served by Gabriel. He's an absolute treasure. If you're gf, you should deffo give the place a try!
Best place in Cardiff with most amazing food and best service from kitchen staff and front staff and manager on duty! 👍👍👍 We had Boxing Day lunch it was fully booked totally packed with families and friends but the staff was amazing under the pressure they managed fast smooth service with care and smiling all the time ! 👏👏👏We where totally impressed ! Nieve looked after us and we big Thanks to her efforts for perfect service 🫶 Thank to her colleague Cariad who helped too 🫶 From our menu choices definitely the best burger is Santa’s and the soup if the day with the cheese sourdough bread is proper homemade warmer we love it ❤️The chocolate profiteroles for 2 is a delicious feast for every chocolate lover 😍 Red whine selections is good but we prefer Organic Wine and it was missing from the menu that’s a little Note from us to the owners for future supply’s 🍷🍷😁 Prices are good for the quality meals and large portions ! Next time we are coming for breakfast too 😃 The cozy atmosphere is perfect for any occasion 👍They are welcoming dogs too 🫶 Parking is free just opposite the restaurant and the location on the bay is beautiful! The charming character of the stone cottage building can not be missed is simply picture perfect 😍 💯% recommended it !!!! From Cardiff centre is £6 by Uber and is totally worth to have your drink and enjoy it by no need to drive 😆
Great place to eat and drink in Cardiff Bay, opposite the Mermaid Quay car park. Iwona and her team were great throughout our visit. I had the Chicken Shawarma and Veggie sharing platter. Good value for money and dog friendly.
Birthday breakfast. Food fabulous, treats and water for our dog! Super service, kind attentive chatty staff, highly recommend.
#coeliacreview Spent a pleasant Friday evening here with friends. Particular thanks to Gabriel for looking after us and to Isuru who did a wonderful job. As someone with a gluten free requirement, Bill's is an ideal place to go and eat, while being worry free! Highly recommend, particularly the Korean Fried Cauliflower. I could eat that all day!
3 generations of us had a lovely 3hr brunch here and the menu suited everyone - even the fussy! Even though it was extremely busy, staff were delightful and nothing was too much trouble. Luke, the manager I think, was an absolute star and added to our enjoyment. Thanks everyone!
Went to Bill’s in Cardiff Bay on Sunday with the fam for the first time and just have to say, the service was honestly brilliant. The manager, Luke, was amazing so friendly and great with the kids. He made us feel really welcome and like nothing was ever too much trouble! It was nice to feel so relaxed, and we had a lovely table by the window. I had the chicken shawarma which was delicious, and everything came out quickly and just how we asked. Even my fussy eaters gave it a big thumbs up! Can’t fault it at all, we’ll definitely be back!
Visited Cardiff Bay Bill’s recently with my family and had a fantastic experience. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, the staff were kind and friendly, and the food was delicious and well-priced. Everything from start to finish was spot on. We’ll definitely be coming back!
As always, Bill's in Cardiff Bay delivered outstanding food and service!. Especially on this occasions it was my wife's birthday and Luke went above and beyond to make use all feel comfortable, welcome and feel like we we're extremely important. What a guy!! Full marks to Luke, ace guy.
Had an amazing breakfast at Bill’s Cardiff Bay and honestly, it exceeded expectations! The place has such a cool and relaxed vibe — perfect for a slow morning by the bay. The breakfast was delicious — portions were generous, and the menu had a wide variety of options for everyone, from the classic English breakfast to lighter and veggie choices. Everything was fresh and beautifully presented. The staff were absolutely lovely — friendly, attentive, and just genuinely good energy all around. Big shout out to Gabriel!! It’s one of those places where you can sit, enjoy your food, chat, and not feel rushed at all. Definitely a spot I’d recommend for anyone visiting Cardiff Bay or looking for a great breakfast with great vibes.
Came as a table of 12 for my 21st birthday and our server was amazing! Gave us lots of freebies and he was so amazing! I didn’t catch his name but he deserves all the praise, thank you so much :)
Popped into Bill’s this morning with my friends for a hangover breakfast and just had to shout out Luke, the manager. He was honestly lovely from the moment we arrived, super friendly, relaxed, and made us feel really looked after when we were definitely not at our best 😂 He checked in on us without being over the top and just brought a really nice vibe to the place. Everything ran smoothly and it felt like he genuinely cared that we were having a good time. Food was great as always, but the service is what really stood out. Luke’s a credit to the place! will definitely be back!
I was in as part of a large group who were visiting for a swimming competition. Despite being a very large group we were looked after incredibly well, not waiting excessively for our food or drinks. We had particularly good service from Gabriel who even though it was exceptionally busy he was as cool as a cucumber throughout, and nothing was too much trouble. No doubt we will look to return again next year.
The meal was delicious, and the set menu was very reasonably priced - £16 for 2 courses or £20 for 3 courses. The waitresses were fantastic. Unfortunately, we were sat by the window on a very cold night so we felt pretty cold throughout the meal. It’s also a dog-friendly restaurant which I didn’t know when I booked.
My husband and I visited Bill’s for a late breakfast/brunch today. We were seated outside in the terrace where we were able to bask in the sunshine. The breakfast menu is superb and seems to cater for all tastes and dietary requirements. The pricing is very reasonable. Service was excellent. The full breakfasts my husband and I ordered were tasty and extremely filling. We can happily recommend Bill’s and will definitely visit again.
Great experience. We went there with three people with gluten allergies and they we very attentive and provided great service. There was a beer which I queried which was a wheat beer, and they were keen to understand my concern and double checked and the beer was indeed gluten free, despite being a wheat beer. They even checked the can and the attestation on the brewer's website, and the manager came out which I really appreciated as I didn't ask to see him. Excellent service, would recommend and go back again.
The food was fantastic, although the turkey is serviced covered in bacon, so if you aren't a fan of bacon do choose an alternative dish. The staff were very attentive, very friendly and made the experience a fantastic one. A big shout out to Reeyen for making the meal such an enjoyable one.
Went as party of 4 last night. Food was nice enough but not much fish in my fish pie considering it wasn't cheap. Place was quite cold and we waited a long time for plates to be cleared away and offered dessert menu. However the biggest disappointment came when I realised after we left they had added on 12.5% service charge which made the bill expensive for what we had. Won't be back.
We visited for breakfast, it was fairly busy when we arrived but we were seated straight away. We were asked for drinks order before we even sat down, in hindsight I wish I'd asked for more time to look at the menu as I'd have chosen something different. But thats our error. We ordered our food and it came after about 20mins. I had some hash brown sides which were nice, they were crispy and it was a good sized portion. We ordered eggs benedict and eggs royal between us. It was ok but the muffins would have been better toasted. Only one egg on each plate was runny yolk but there was plenty of ham/salmon and loads of the sauce. I had some excess liquid on my plate, which I wasnt sure what from, I assume water from the egg and it had made part of my muffin so soggy I couldn't eat it and for the price we paid those things were a bit dissapointing but overall it was ok.
When your Sea Bass and creamy mash with tenderstem broccoli sits on the pass for 40 minutes unloved and unattended the mash goes cold and the bass goes leathery. The tendestem broccoli had thick stems that were unchewable and resistant to cutting and the heads albeit still tepid were al-dente (read undercooked) so surprisingly disappointing when Bills is normally a reliable brand. The starters were nice and my partners burger was good. The staff were charming but we arrived at 1:30pm and starters arrived after about ten to fifteen minutes but mains not until 2:30 after we chased them. Looking at other reviews staffing levels might be an issue. Credit though on staff awareness/helpfulness on food allergies.
#Coeliac Review Dedicated Gluten Free menu with plenty of options which was nice to see. Went for the P.I.B Double Dunker Burger which was nice. GF roll was ok overall, portion of fries was small. Think there are better places in the bay for burger (Hub Box). Only issue was the service. I was asked on entering about allergies etc and was given the GF menu. Although it wasn't busy during our visit, service was poor. Had to chase someone to take our order after quite some time (tables that came in after us were served prior to us etc). Wasn't asked about dietary requirements by the waitress, but I always highlight being Coeliac anyway. No follow up after food arrived and again had to chase for the bill. Just seemed a bit lacklustre and impersonal.
On the whole a good dining experience. I had a tasty breakfast with my mother. Her poached eggs were perfect, mine were very overdone. I did mention this and show the eggs to the waitress who was very polite and apologised. I do feel in this situation that a gesture of goodwill should be made even if it is to take one drink off the bill.
Visited here for weekend brunch with friends. Nice big menu with plenty of options to choose from. My eggs on my eggs florentine were rock hard and the sauce became sickly after a while. My friends egg on her breakfast was also hard. We were rather disappointed with the food here. Plenty of options for drinks, and I highly recommend the banana colada! Recommend to book as it was very busy.
Update: A friend booked a table after work mid week and it was quite busy. Service was a little better, although slow, and the menu had changed. I tried one of the specials which was a vegetarian pea & goats cheese risotto. It was ok but the only goats cheese was the thin slice on the top, so overall it was very sweet and not well balanced . My friend had the chicken with truffle sauce which she enjoyed. Still feel it's overpriced, and that sadly, they've lost their edge. Shame. I usually enjoy Bill's but sadly was very underwhelmed on my last visit. The restaurant wasn't very busy and felt cold. The food was mediocre & our group felt it was very overpriced for the quality. We were constantly asked about allergies to the point of ridiculousness, possibly 6/7 times. Different servers kept coming to our table which was part of the problem but the whole experience was uncomfortable. A shame but it needs a revamp and I'm certainly put off going again.
Good service. Had steak and chips. The chips tasted like an average quality supermarket oven chip. The onion rings were cold. The chips and steak just warm and the plate just above cold. The steak was OK, but dish badly let down by the poor quality of the chips. The service was good but that cannot make up for the food.
My girlfriend ordered a steak asking for medium well (she has had a kidney transplant so cant have anything rare or too pink). She cuts into the steak and it was more like medium rare. We mention she has had a transplant and cant have anything too pink. The manager didn't even have the decency to speak to us. Instead they sent the poor waitress to tell us that the steak is medium well. Anyone with a brain can tell that a mostly pink steak is not medium well. They send out a new steak for my girlfriend which looked like charcoal on a plate and was tough as old boots. If this is how they treat customers with medical requirements then that is absolutely disgusting and we will not be returning. This is no reflection on our server. The waitress we had was brilliant. This was down to poor management and kitchen.
What?! A one star review for Bill's at Cardiff Bay? Let me explain. My reviews are personal to my first visit to any venue. Although I like to have a laugh 😃 I take this seriously so I devised a set of rules to guide me on my way. The first rule of my review strategy is don't talk about my review strategy..... sorry... I was confusing my rules with Fight Club's rules. I always tell peeps that I'm there to write a review and to ask permission to take some piccies. Nearly all say that's okay. I ordered my latte and was informed it would be on the house. I refused and told matey his offer of a freebie could be seen as a bribe. He laughed and insisted that I accept, despite my protestations. Big mistake Bill's of Cardiffio Bay. You were warned. They served my latte in a glass receptacle, another no no in my book. I have been told by others that lattes should be served in a glass, I don't care, don't serve me mine in something see through. The swirly was a bit half-bottomed (cleaned that one up) and to cap it all the coffee wasn't that good anyhoo. I noticed there were few punters around, perhaps they heard I was coming? Perhaps everyone else hates their latte being served in a glass? There's a million and five reasons why the place was relatively empty, draw your own conclusions, or make something up. I've visited Bill's in Gloucester on more than one occasion and thoroughly enjoyed the experience each time. I ain't going back to Bill's in the Bay. Coffee shops - no freebies please - you have been warned.
