Decent pizzas but Margarita pizza is the best!

This is great New York pizza! One of the best in Albany. And we are pizza obsessed. For a classic New York style pizza, the crust was crunchy and well done, sauce has a good balance of acidity and the right amount of cheese to sauce ratio. We did pickup for a large pie. 20 mins later from pick-up, crust is still crunchy without having to reheat the pizza

Excellent! Pizza was amazing, wings were delicious, garlic knots were great. The XL Cheese w/ 10 wings and 6 garlic knots and a 2 liter for $27.99 deal is hard to beat! Online ordering was a breeze, and the food was nice and hot (and fresh!) even though I was later than expected picking it up. Can't wait til next time! 🤤

Took an occasion to stop by since I've passed by this restaurant multiple times a week for the past 7 years. Im glad I did. The girl at the counter was upbeat, friendly and engaging, helping me pick out the pizza I was to order (Bacon Ranch white pizza). The pizza had the perfect thin crust my wife and I desired, just the right amount of toppings and was cooked in the center, which so many pizza places seem to omit. My wife says this his her new favorite pizza place.. Can't want to go back!

The pizza here is fantastic! If you're into wood-fired, thinner NY pizza, it's totally worth it! They have specials also. Convenient location and ample parking. My son loves the garlic knots and I'm also a huge fan of their Buffalo Chix Wings! Lots of things to try on their menu; take out service is top notch!

I am from the Boston, Ma area and when I travel I like to get pizza. This pizza was amazing. I ordered a medium pepperoni and mushroom pizza at about 10:30 in the morning because I was in the area for a delivery and they were open. Pizza was amazing, the guy behind the counter was awesome. He gave me a large at same price because he had just thrown a pie in the oven for slices, I was very grateful for that. I ate 6 out of the 8 slices in about 10 minutes it was so good! Absolutely will be back next time I am in the area I highly recommend this place.

I ordered a cheese pizza with green and red peppers. The pie was delivered on time just as the email indicated. It was hot enough for a delivery item and was made with the right amount of peppers, not to much, not to little. Perfect for my taste anyway!

Stop by here for a slice last week! It was my first time visiting this joint. The pizza was surprisingly very good. I was lucky enough to get two slices from a pie that just came out of the oven. The crust was perfect, the sauce very good, and the cheese excellent. That's what good pizza is all about, a combination of those three ingredients. I'm a 74 year old guy from New York City who's eating a few slices of pizza in his day. I'll definitely be back at Goombas in the near future!

Delicious subs and helpful, kind employees. They went out of their way to help us, even though they were closed. Would highly recommend to everyone. Here's the story: it was 8 o'clock on a Sunday night, we are not from the area, but had been there for an all day event. We were tired and hungry and looking for somewhere open to order food. They had technically closed to prepare for a large takeout order, but made us sandwiches anyway. They could have sent us away to find something else, but they were willing to help.

Outdoor, very New York Style Pizza. Though it might be located in what is considered the middle of nowhere, but I would classify this a tourist landmark for trying authentic New Yorker Style Pizza.

We were on our way over to Tanglewood and decided to try this place close to the hotel. Honestly this decision was in no small part based on the unrelated name likeness to something from Super Mario Brothers. We were very happy with that decision, as this place was pleasantly surprising. It's small and cozy, affordable, and the staff who helped us (the owner?) was extremely welcoming and kind, offering to upsize our pizza since they didn't have our first choice available, then offering us free soda! And boy was that pizza delicious. Definitely unique with a light and flavorful crust. I'm glad we don't live nearby, because I could see myself developing a habit with this place.

Passing through for work found this place, no regrets! Pricing wise 5+++ Crust is amazing has that wood fired taste and it’s cooked perfectly so it’s not burnt or nor soggy. Super nice employees and a nice local business! Thanks Goombas 🍕

The pizza was BOMB!! Honestly, one of the best pizzas of my entire life! And that’s a lot coming from me (pizza is my favorite food). We got a medium cheese pizza, nothing fancy. But the crust was crispy underneath but chewy throughout. The sauce and pizza were perfectly portioned and tasted superb. My wife got a small salad, but it was not small. It was definitely larger than we expected. Prices were right on par with other places (but a much better value for what we got here). The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. I would HIGHLY recommend this place to anyone!!

Hands down the best pizza in town! I absolutely love the pizzas here every single one I’ve tried has been delicious. This is the most respectful pizza restaurant and most delicious pizza EVER!! We often do pizza challenges as a family where we get pizzas and judge their sauces and cheese pulls. I took my daughter out for the day and we stopped for a Margherita pizza (my favorite) and a Pepperoni pizza (her favorite). I will only get this pizza from Goombas. The absolute best 👌 The flavor is top notch. The cheese pull is incredible. The perfect crunch yet still soft crust. My 11year old daughter said "this is now my favorite pizza. The BEST!!" .. Now thats saying something!! The owners and staff are very kind and respectful. The gentleman came around the counter and held the door for me since my hands were full -- you dont get that elsewhere. We got home and my husband bought pizza for our sons from a different pizza place thats closer to home so they deliver. The photo you see of two different kinds of pepperoni pizza and a couple slices look orange -- thats the other restaurant. Goombas is real. Its fresh ingredients. It's made with generational knowledge. You taste the difference compared to other pizza restaurants and you will LOVE IT!! By the way there is an entire menu of other items .. but honestly I've never had anything else other than their pizza. But thats going to change now!

I had an issue with the service as I felt I was misled with my order however the owner corrected and ensured that everything was taken care of. Very good pizza. They were also very accommodating...I was with a friend who liked meat and I'm a vegetarian but they made us a half and half meat lovers and veggie lovers pizza. Not a lot of tables inside though so probably a better place for take out.

I would definitely Gibraltar the pizza 5 stars, bc the wood fire flavor is the best- but there is a lack of consistency in the pizza sauce- sometimes you get enough, sometimes very little sauce on the pizza. Service is great 👍

Good pizza & salad. Used to be a Stewarts shop .On a cold day in winter I recommend pick up. We ate with our coats on because it was very cold. You have to go outside to go into the restroom. Even though it was used as a storage area, I was happy it was clean. The woman serving behind the counter was very sweet. My family lives near and has ordered on our recommendation. They liked it too.

I have been here about 3 times. Their pizza is okay. I recently got a chicken parm sub. There could have been more chicken in it, but it served it's purpose. Their chicken alfredo is excellent though. Polite customer service and decent price points.

This place has great wood fired grub! We have ordered a few times. 2 out of 3 It was piping hot. This last order was for a margarita pie. It was fantastic! I know its a simple pie. But thats what most places mess up. Its all about the marriage of the cheese basil and tomato! Just nailed it! We will be eating here a lot I'm sure! There even very competitive on price point! I'm looking forward to trying everything on menus!

Definitely the best pizzeria in town. Crispy crust and good cheese. The Margherita slice is the best option and the homemade Bleu Cheese goes with it very well. Never had Bleu Cheese on pizza before but here we are. Garlic knots were dry before cutting them in half, dipping them in oil, and reheating them. The man behind the counter was extremely nice and personable. Excited to go back.

The pizza here is good but sometimes it’s very good. A hit or miss depending on the day. I think the days that I enjoy the cheese slices less there is too much cheese and not enough sauce. But I don’t make pizza so I don’t know. All I know is some days I’m very happy with my slices and some days I’m less happy. Overall a pretty decent pizza slice.

First time ordering from here as we expand our pizza palate. Pizza was "eh," very sparse toppings. Wings were good and meaty, nice mild sauce with only a hint of heat. We won't be returning.

The funny thing about this place is that for a place that has "woodfired" in the name, I never see the pizza's coming out of the woodfire, I seeing the double decker propane ovens working overtime. That's not to say I don't some times see the woodfire oven going but I'm starting to think its more of a decorative piece to silence the keyboard warriors. Overall pizza ok 6.4 on Portnoy scale. Wings are 5.4 on Rusko scale. On the flipside it's an affordable place to feed a kid's birthday party or pizza party for a work place where everyone is miserable anyways.

Very odd experience. The salad would have been pretty good, but there were bones in my grilled chicken breast. Very off putting to bite into bone. They got my order wrong. I asked for lite ranch that was listed on the menu and was informed they don't have lite ranch. He asked if I wanted regular ranch and I said no. So I asked for French. When I received my order it came with regular ranch. I ordered 2 salads and asked for just one to be buffalo chicken. Both were buffalo. So they tasted pretty good, but the order was pretty wrong. Also, when the delivery driver got to our building, he didn't come up to our suite, he called me from a NYC number and I swear he was speaking a different language from English so I thought it was a wrong number. Then somehow he got my work number and extension and called me there. Only then did he speak to me in English and identify himself as calling from Goombas. So it was all very odd.

I was in Albany on business and we decided to try a pizza place that was near the hotel. We we're pleasantly surprised when Goomba's was quite delicious. The pizza was quite tasty, but could have been done a little more on the bottom. The wings we got with the pie were very good. The choices of sauces for the wings and types of toppings we substantial. The specials were not plentiful, but they met our needs. It would be nice to see the ability to add toppings to specials on the app. The prices seemed decent for what we got and I would definitely buy it again. I also purchased some baklava, which was slightly overpirced but still good. In conclusion Goomba's is an average pizza place which I would not hesitate recommending to people. It was not my favorite, but I would stomp again.

Really enjoyed until they forgot a pizza for my sister. It was a rough night as I had to drive over to pick it up - sister asked for a fresh pizza - as they told her they would deliver a cold pizza. Not cool. They should have refunded the order - but was only offered a free dessert - which no one wanted. They offered a credit for a few pizza.. in the future. The counter girl did give a soda -- but to upset 4 people cause you messed up a REGULAR weekly order. She spends $100 a week and this was just really sad for me. I will likely find any other place - as the manager did not resolve this on that day. So sad. This was delivery a USUAL weekly order and your team did not deliver the 3rd pizza box. It was NEVER delivered. I wasted an hour to go and wait for a pizza.. and the only credit was a pizza. Not good.

Mostly doing a 3 because the food for the most part is pretty good. Decided to order from them Sunday for the first time. Ordered a little of this and that to really give it a chance. Food was late and was hung up on twice by delivery person. I ordered 2 different Calzones one was pretty small for being over $16 and mostly had mozzarella and not much of the other toppings i paid for also they didnt come with ricotta for some reason they try and charge it like a regular topping when calzones have both ricotta & mozzarella and on your own menu it lists they come with both but do not. Other calzone was a nice size and had way more toppings in it and overall just looked better was over $15 for that one. the jalapeño poppers were great though. Pizza was good along with the salad even though i received the wrong dressing. The garlic knots weren't great hardly any garlic was more like buttered knots. The roast beef sub was alright but the meat was kinda dry and harder to chew. Overall food wasn't too bad which is hard to find in the area.

I ordered an Italian Mix sub from here and was not impressed. Chunks of onion, not slices, dices, minces or slivers, CHUNKS. Very sparse on the meat. Sub roll was pretty hard. Overall I have had better for less. Cuginos up the road in Rensselaer makes better subs and their fries are awesome. Can't speak to their pizza but based on the sub experience I don't think I'll spend the time or money to find out. Also, side note: what is with some of these reviews where the restaurant wants to come pick up the bad food from their customers?Very strange.

First time here in like a decade. "Wood fired", absolutely not. The name is a lie and the pizza tastes like it came from Chuck E Cheese now. Don't waste your money.

Somewhat disappointed. For being a pizza place, the pizza was severely lacking. Crust was ok. But the toppings were abysmal, and the pizza looked disappointing. Ordered the chicken bacon ranch pizza. The breaded chicken looked old, the bacon had a “turkey bacon” appearance and the sauce was flavorless. Coworker ordered a burger and the burger was dry and the bacon was also disappointing (again “turkey bacon” looking). She thought the bread was stale. The Mac and cheese triangles were also just disappointing. All in all it was “ok”. Would I actively go out of my way to order it again. No. If someone ordered it and offered me some, I probably wouldn’t turn it down

You're prices have gone up from $1.00 to $6.00 on each item. And now you charge $1.99 for delivery. And .25 for extra item on pizza. So my 14in. Pizza now cost $4.50 more plus tax on the pizza. I wished you had checked your competitors prices first before raising the prices. You lost a good customer.

Why would you put pepperoni on a steak & cheese grinder??

We tried their pizza twice. First time was excellent - sauce, crust and toppings were all delicious. Decide to rider there again the next time we wanted pizza- ordered a plain with extra cheese. After explaining what we wanted three times to the person who answered the phone, when we picked up the pizza, it had the extra cheese - but no sauce! Haven’t been back and won’t be back ever

Close to the hotel and they delivered so we ordered. They forgot to put pepperoni on the pizza and gave us old celery. Disappointed. What other ingredients aren’t fresh? With paying for ‘extras’ our bill for 2 was almost $45. Not worth it and would never go there again. We ordered a large pizza 10 wings and extra celery and blue cheese and garlic knots. I tried calling no answer the closed right after the delivery. Threw 1/2 pizza away it wasn’t good.

I went in and should have known there was going to be a problem. They guy in front of me asked for 2 bbq chicken slices and he gave him buffalo chicken. I asked for the whole cheese pizza that was on the counter. He said 1 cheese slice. I said no the whole thing. After asking someone in back how much it was he rings me up for $17.27. A little expensive for something that cost $5 to make but I didn’t care it’s for my nieces and nephews. He takes a box down and puts it in. I said sr I would like it warmed up please. Now I lost him. A couple comes in now and asks him for 4 cheese slices but there is only 3 on the counter and he takes one from my pizza that I have paid for already and comes to me and says it’s going to be 10 mins for a pizza. You can imagine what is said to him at that point. Terrible service, dirty store, staff is not smart. Go somewhere else people. I can’t put a star on their food because I never got it.

Spent over $30 for a calzone which wasn’t cooked all the way through; I specifically asked for it to be cooked a certain way and I got food that I couldn’t even eat. Not what I was expecting especially when I heard good things about them 👎👎👎

Don't go here. Ever! Authentic? Sure, if they are related to the Ragu family. Everything was mega gross. Even the garlic bread was terrible. How do you mess up garlic bread?!?! You know how? You go here. If you have any respect for yourself or your family, pass this place as fast as you can. Gas station sushi is by far a much better choice than here!

Horrible customer service and treatment over the phone. I placed a Grubhub order that was 30 minutes late. I then called them and they said they had a ‘technical issue’, but were aware of all details of my order. The person offered to deliver the food in 20-30 minutes, then said it would actually take 45-50 minutes, and then said they would have to cancel my order. I tried to call back to inquire as to when it would be canceled, he said they would call to cancel it in 10 minutes and then hung up. They had no intention to call and tell me my order wasn’t coming, and then still after the ‘technical difficulties’ had not canceled my order. I’m addition, the person on the phone was extremely rude. I do not recommend GOOMBAS to other people and plan to never use them again after this terrible experience.

Very bad and mediocre pizza. Who are these people? Who cuts pizza pies into slices of 6 instead of the standard 8? Do I want pizza slices the size of my head? No. Also with the pizza. No taste, undercooked. Garlic knots: no taste, just bread, no real garlic, garlic powder and oil. Disappointed. Will not order again. Lost my business. Don't know how people think this is good. Very sad how low standards people have.

Ordered dinner tonight after an hour and 15 minutes I called just to ask if my order was on the way. I was told it was and then my fiancé called 15 minutes later and they told her it hadn’t even left yet. So she told them she wanted to cancel and there response was well what do you expect it’s a Friday. Completely unprofessional. I placed an order for pizza at 415pm to be picked up at 515pm. $55 dollars worth of pizza. Got there at 506pm.?they had not even started the pizzas and had to dig for the order. Told me it would be another 10 mins. Then the counter guy went to talk with the pizza maker, came back and said it would be 25 mins. I said, I ordered it over and hour ago. He shrugged his shoulder and said 25 mins. No sorry, no we made a mistake, no how can we make it better. I had family waiting on us and the pizza so i said I can’t wait. He shrugged again, balled up the order and turned away throwing it in the garbage. Well Goomba. You didn’t get my money tonight and won’t get my money again.

When you order bacon, do you expect a restaurant to default to turkey bacon???! Well this place does. Ordered bacon pizza and they used turkey bacon without mentioning it at all. I had to ask why the bacon looked like it did when I picked it up, and that's when they told me it was turkey bacon. Sorry but there's a huge difference in texture and taste between the two. The pizza was really overpriced as well for what didn't taste like wood fired pizza. Pretty sure the other reviews are right about them just using a regular oven.

I have ordered from here a few times. Last night they messed up the order. I called back and was asked “what do you want us to do” I said bring the forgotten part of the order. They agreed. It never came. I called back and said that the item hadn’t come and now the food was cold. I was told it was “Friday night” and they were busy. Won’t be ordering from them again. Mistakes get made, that doesn’t bother me. But customer service goes a long way and their’s is terrible.

Horrible pizza. Don't waste your hard earned dollars here, especially in this economy. Way undercooked and arrived cold. Had to reheat. Expect extremely huge slices. Even a giant wouldn't want a slice that big. Update: the owner contacted me personally trying and begging me to take this review down. Furthermore, he attempted to bribe me with free food. I said NO.

Gave them another try a year later. Ordered a large Bacon pizza. Nowhere is it noted they use turkey bacon. Call to say I can't eat it and all I got was "we dont use pork bacon". So much for second chances. If I could give them 0 it would be the correct rating. They gave me slimy nasty wings and when they said they would be ready in 15 minutes, 20 minutes later they had not even started preparing them. When I asked for a refund they "manager" looked like I had 10 heads and confused him. I used to like this place, not anymore.

Just know that if you order a “chicken cutlet” sub, you’ll get gross looking chicken fingers cut in half instead. It literally tastes like bread. Never again.

No marinara sauce for the mozzarella sticks... crispy onions on the western burger were just sautéed... and didn't get any type of salad that was suppose to come with the burger... won't be ordering here again.

My first time going and my last! I can just look at a pizza and could tell if it’s going to be good or blah! And this was blah, there’s hardly any sauce on my cheese pizza! And if there was, the only flavor came from what I added to it. The crust was hard and no taste, or chew to it. I think I had better pizza from school. The place was drab too, could use a cleaning and deco. The gentleman was nice. All young kids in there. Thumbs down!

Tried the pizza tonight because no one else available. That’s what a cheese pizza from them looks like these days. Absolutely terrible. Dry Ordered garlic knots the other night. They gave me hard bread that had sat out all day not made fresh. Did not even give and marinara sauce. AJ I am disgusted by this and your chicken parm sub was absolutely disgusting I could not eat it. Terrible

Ordered this pizza with four topping paid $ 31.41 to have this delivered . This was poor workmanship and quality. The delivery person couldn’t add very well and had trouble figuring out price? I tipped him well , but when he left I opened my pizza box; only to see this mess..! Called the pizza place at 8:38 pm and they wouldn’t answer their phones. I don’t recommend this place. I worked in the Pizza business for many years at ROUND TABLE PIZZA AND I KNOW - GOOMBAS PIZZA COULD DO BETTER...!!!!
