The vegan pizza here is incredible! We got the veggie with vegan cheese substituted, and the house salad with no feta and everything was super delicious. They use a brand of mozzarella vegan cheese called Selfish Cow, which I had never had, but the manager kindly went and found out for me which brand they use and it is super delicious. I would compare it to something like Miyoko‘s or Violife vegan cheese. If you are dairy free, get over here immediately and try this pizza!
We wanted to check out the Castro Valley Market and learned that Slice House had just opened up! Tried the Tony Jack slice and a slice of cheese and enjoyed both. Ranch was yummy. The wait was a bit long but we were fine with it. PS we had a great experience with Dominique- she went above and beyond to help resolve an issue with our order.
A few details… 1) Don’t worry about seating; it’s been talked about that there is a battle about the outside seating area, but there are plenty of seats available inside (AC) as well as outside (shaded) 2) Plenty of free parking! Sorry, San Leandro, but I’m not gonna pay to park, then patronize an establishment in the downtown area. 3) Don’t sleep on the crust. The toppings are marvelous, but you will eat ALL the crust, it’s that good! 4) Prices might seem high, BUT each slice is really equivalent to two slices. And the flavors and quality makes it worth the $. A solid choice for lunch or dinner, we are fortunate to have Slice House here in Castro Valley!
The pizza was hreat but the sauce was excellent. I think it might be of the best sauces in Hayward.🤔
I recently visited Slice House Pizzeria in Castro Valley, and it was an outstanding experience! The pizza was the best I’ve had in a long time – fresh, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. Every bite was a delight! The staff were incredibly helpful and friendly, and they clearly know their menu inside and out. I appreciated their recommendations, which made my visit even better. To top it all off, Slice House is conveniently located in my favorite marketplace, making it super easy to swing by. Highly recommend this spot for anyone craving top-tier pizza and great service!
The best pizza by the slice or a whole pie. Not only are the pizzas delicious, they are reasonably priced. The seating is limited.
Slice house pizza in Castro Valley was amazing. I ordered a veggie gluten free pizza (cauliflower base) and it was made to perfection. My friends, in fact, preferred this crust - tasty and crispy. Service was outstanding - thank you Collin!
I recently ordered takeout from Slice House for a party, and the pizza was a huge hit! Several guests mentioned it was the best vegetarian pizza they’ve ever had. The flavors were incredible, and the quality really stood out. I’ll definitely be ordering from here more often and can’t wait to try more pizzas from their menu!
So solid. Have ordered multiple times for pickup and delivery. Slice House never disappoints. Friendly service and the restaurant is well maintained. I’ve tried another Slice House but this one is way better. Highly recommend.
Love the fresh topping combos and the crust is the best! Detroit and regular crust available.
This is probably the best pizza I’ve ever had. Great taste. You can taste the love that goes into making it. I also noticed it was not too oily or too salty like many run of the mill pizza places. You could tell it was made with high quality ingredients. I didn’t get that bloated and dehydrated feeling that you often get from eating pizza. So happy to have Tony’s pizza back in CV!
The best pizza I ever had, the employees are super friendly.
I have only now had a slice here but the service that evening was super friendly, quick, and there was a variety of pies ready to go. I tried out the wise guy and loved it. Could have a little bigger spots of ricotta because that's my favorite!! My favorite pizza spot is Artichoke and that Slice House is only a couple minutes from my house, will certainly become a go to spot now.
Best pizza in Castro Valley and probably the East Bay. I came in and tried my first Detroit slice and now its my fav. Its a huge square piece and super filling. Although its a big piece, its very light and airy so you get a nice crunch with each bite. The pepperoni cups speak for themselves.
Best chain pizza in the bay area hands down. Their Wise Guy pizza is one of the best I've had ever. XL pizzas are huge so try slices first. Their slices are big as well though so a great value. Would highly recommend.
Absolutely worth the drive! This top gourmet pizza spot in Castro Valley is a true East Bay gem. My friends and I had an amazing experience—the flavors were exceptional, and every bite was a delight. The staff made us feel right at home with their personable service. If you’re a pizza lover, don’t miss this place. We’ll definitely be coming back!
Friendly and patient staff. The consistency of quality of pizza between all of Tony’s restaurants truly amazes me. Between this, his restaurant in SF, and one in SFO international airport, they all exceed expectations. It’s almost as if I’m having pizza being made by the exact same chef in all of them! I don’t know how he does this on such a grand scale. Anyways, on to the pizza: We ordered a Detroit style pizza called the “Rosa” and a classic pizza style called “Walker’s White Pie”. Both were tasty, fresh, and delicious. This was my first Detroit style pizza and I was amazed with the tomato sauce on top of the cheese. Both slices were seasoned perfectly and cooked beautifully. Crispy with a perfect ratio of cheese and sauce. It was difficult not to get more!
Slice House is our go-to pizza takeout place and for this visit, we actually ate in! We tried two slices which I don't think is in their online menu - Walker's White Pie and The True Italian. Both were good. This location is definitely nicer than the Walnut Creek and San Leandro locations we've been to. While it's relatively small, there's sitting around the marketplace and the ambiance overall is just nice. We also ordered a pistachio cannoli which unfortunately was just ok using Romolo's as a benchmark.
A wonderful addition to the much needed food scene in downtown Castro Valley. Slice house makes delicious pizza. Tried the Grandma and Detroit Chicken Ranch and liked the Detroit one more. Grandma style is rich with cheese, much more than Detroit. Also recommend the burrata cheese vegetarian pizza. I tried the Sicilian style and like it. Must try!
Sweet Gino Grandma-style is deceptively thin, but still delicious. It looks like it’s thick because it’s in a tray with a wire rack, but it’s not thick at all so not very substantial. Tastes great, though. I had to get into line again to buy my daughter a second slice because one slice was not enough—not even for a teenage girl. I personally love the Detroit-style pizzas. I’ve had the Rosa and the Motörhead and both were tasty. The purple potato slice of the day was good as well. My husband had the meatball sub, which took 25 minutes and came out when the rest of the family was all done eating. The bread was toasty, though.
Went here on a Friday night. If you want a whole pie, expect a long wait (at least 45min-1hr), it is really busy. I recommend ordering online. We almost left, but they did have slices available, which was great, we got to try 4 different pizza flavors & styles. 1) Detroit style pizza Little Italy, this was different, dough is thick with crusty cheese edges and the sauce is on top of the toppings. Too thick for me, but it has great flavor. We also got 3 NY style pizza slices, my fave was the 1) burrata queen, this didn't have red sauce, it had pesto, mozzarella, so yummy! 2) NY Wiseguy, this was good, loved the ricotta on it. 3) bbq chicken ranch, this one was good too. We'll be back to try more! You can also call ahead to see what slices are available. The staff are nice, I just felt rushed to order because it was so busy. We were lucky to get a table, looks like they have alot of take out. There's one bathroom and it was clean.
Tried their Hawaiian pizza and it was phenomenal! Instead of pineapple chunks, they lay thin pineapple slices on top and it blends nicely with the pizza. Since it's not premade, I waited for 25 minutes for the freshly baked pizza.
We ordered 6 slices and the cashier was patient with our big family order. He also helped bring the pizza to outside. Recommend if you’re in Castro valley.

The Sweet Gino is it! Crispy with a little sweet and savory. Yum in every bite. Our favorite local pizzeria! Make sure to sign up for their points rewards :)

I've been to several slice house locations around the bay area and this one is as amazing as any! Decent about of seating, plenty of space, solid options and plenty of staff. They even have Dr. Pepper on the fountain!
Excellent service atmosphere and most importantly food. Came in with a group of 9 and staff was very kind of getting us seated. Pizza was delicious quality without a doubt highly recommend for anyone passing by would definitely commute from San Jose to have it again.
Quick and convenient way to pick up a delicious slice of Tony's pizza! They have kept the taste exactly as it is if you bought a pie at Tony's original SF location. Can't wait for my next visit!

Really yummy and crowded. However, expect longer wait for the online ordering fulfillment time even without crowds. It’s great they offer online pick up, but it usually takes an additional 20 mins on top of the estimated time.
You order at the counter get a table and pick up your order. The pizza was good. Fast and easy
They are lucky that the pizza is unquestionably the best, because the wait times are always long, nobody answers the phones, and the online ordering doesnt work unless you use a 3rd party application that upcharges 10% for your convenience. I hope they bolster their staff on Saturdays in the future.
This slice house is in a food hall in Castro Valley. The seating is a little tight, so you might have to look around for a place to sit. We had the combo Americano and the Sicilian. Boy, these slices were huge! They were delicious, and we’d like to come back and give them another try.
I was very excited about trying out the NY style pizza here. That’s my favorite style and I have had it all over USA including NY. While the flavor of the pizza was good, it fell short in the crust and the toppings. The crust I felt was thicker than what a true NY style should be. It wasn’t as crispy but I know perhaps well done order will take care of that. I felt the edges were too doughy. I had the medium wise guy pizza which hardly had sausage on it which is one of the toppings. I will certainly try it again but will order well done and see! I will say the pizza came out exactly on the time I had ordered it for so it was nice and hot and I appreciate that.
Stopped by for a mid-day craving of pizza. Front-person was friendly and gave me recommendations for vegetarian pizza slice options available, when asked. Went for a Sicilian slice and a NYC style pesto. The Sicilian was cheesy, flavorful, and had a fluffy texture; the latter was a bit crispier and a bit drier than I expected but still flavorful. Would come back to try their other vegetarian options!
When in Castro Valley - Do as the Castro Valley-ians do. Is that spelled right? Like Oregon locals are called Oregonians?! Ha ha, actually I don't know if that's what Castro Valley Locals do, there were a handful of customers in the sitting area, but who knows if they were from Castro Valley, they could have been visiting from out of town. Anyhow, I visited this location of the Slice House because, well I was looking for something different and closer to what I normally have and to what I normally have to drive to, which isn't thaaaat far, but it's still out of the way. The Slice House is located at the Castro Valley Natural Grocers. Don't know what that is? Think the Anaheim Packing House but waaaay smaller, waaaay safer and much easier parking. It's a cute small corner shop in the Natural Grocers', with a pretty eclectic size eating area, enough for about 6 four seat tables and 2 taller tables for two on the outside of its walls. It's quaint. They have an abundant variety of daily pizza slices all ranging from $6.65- 7.65, whole pies are available for purchase to, I'm sure, but this visit was only for a slice. A tasty slice of their Veggie Pizza "New York Style". I didn't have to wait long, even though it was prime dinner time, but it was a Monday Night, so most would probably be at home with their families. I didn't know what to expect when I ordered the slice, so when the cashier handed me a small box which looked like a box for a small pizza, I was a taken a little off-guard. The pizza was pretty good, it only was dry towards the crust, which was a little disappointing since I had to throw away about 1/8 of it. It was still consumable. It was a good try considering I didn't have to travel far and found parking right away.
Delicious pizza - what a great addition to Castro valley! My kids said it best: “This is my favorite pizza place. The dough is both crispy and chewy!” Meanwhile, I am pouring the chili oil on everything. *update: they no longer provide complimentary hot chili oil. That makes me sad. :(

Been really excited about trying this place & finally we had a chance . Well not happy at all ! First off we waited for a table & no one came out to clean it off so i did myself ! My family & i decided we'd order he Sicilian xl & id order a slice of sweet ginos . Well the slice came out fast & the taste wasnt bad then it took 50 minutes for our pizza to come out & i had to ask if it was almost ready ? Well when it came it was room temperature not to pleased i think they forgot to make it & gave me one the previously made! We ate it & was craving more . So we ordered 4more slices & when asked if my daughter in law who is a 1st responder can use here discount the rude lady said no its only a 1 time deal ! Very rude ! We also wanted dessert so they we went back ordered gelato & canolis & that took forever my daughter n law had to ask if the orders almost ready & the lady said they were packing the canolis & ice cream 🤦🏻♂️ not happy & bad service.
Went there with my family for the first time.We ordered 3 different pizzas so we can share with each other and all we're ok but the sauce was extremely sweet and left an after taste in your mouth.Don't know if i'll be back.
Pizza was super greasy, but still tasty. I had to soak up some of the grease with napkins. Staff was indifferent (not rude....but not friendly either). The location was full of people waiting for to-go orders, not enough tables. Slightly recommend.

I was so happy learning this place was opening cuz my daughter loves pizza. We tried it a few times but the pizza's are full of oils....even my daughter said her tummy hurt and she NEVER says that and she eats all kinds of pizza with never a negative comment. Would be nice if they also offered pizza's that were more healthy and delicious. Just an idea. You don't have to pack the pizza's with fat to be yummy. Let the toppings and the crust do the talking.
The Castro Valley location is perfect for 1st date, night out with family, or when you want to spend time w/ yourself! It's lively, consistently bustling with customers, and the perfect place to bring children of any age. The pizza however is not my favorite, which is why the low score. Everyone's palate varies of course. The pros: fresh ingredients, delicious & salads, all reasonably priced. They have the typical soda fountain fare. IMO, the Pizza sauce needs work. It's on the very sweet side. The sweetness of the marinara is so overpowering, I miss the flavor of the garlic, onion, basil. --other ingredients that might be included. Sadly, I can't taste the fresh tomatoes. They offer thin or deep dish crust, both of which are unfortunately not as tasty as other local pizza places including Domino's. But again, the high bar tables and the fun atmosphere can make up for this if you enjoy sweet marinara sauce, and are there for a salad. This location used to be a pool hall. it's two levels, with a wraparound balcony, and other unique dining options, including a wine bar that offers tastings. Also included is an organic grocery. I highly recommend giving this location a try!
Ordered a pepperoni pizza and it was disappointing. Very thin crust, barely any cheese and a bit on the spicy side. My sister commented that it reminded her of Costco pizza. I actually would have preferred Costco pizza. My daughter said I should have tried a specialty pizza, my response was if a simple pepperoni pizza was disappointing I have no faith that a specialty pizza would be good. I could be wrong, but not willing to risk it. Pizza Express on Center is the best pizza in CV. And so far no other local pizza place can, in my opinion, top it. Consistently delicious.
Ridiculously greasy. Tasted Just ok kind of like easting greasy toast with pizza toppings, peperonis all seemed overcooked and dehydrated. It was close to lunch and not at the end of the day so I wouldn't have expected it to be just sitting out for a long time under a heat lamp suffering. Over priced for what it was. I felt queasy after eating it. Staff was nice enough and efficient.
Will rate it zero stars if possible. Horrible customer service. Came on a very busy light parade night. They were out of veggie pizza by the slice. Before standing in line, I specifically asked about the wait time and if I can order pizza by the slice that is currently empty in the display. One of the associates confirmed you can and said that they will keep refiling the display counter and the wait time will be approximately 25 mins. Stood in the long line and each reach the register and now a different associate now says your cannot preorder the slices. If the pizza you want is not there you when you reach the counter you cannot order it. Ridiculous!
This is the worst Slice House location. They keep changing their rules about ordering 1/2 & 1/2 pizzas. They used to but now they won’t. So annoying and ridiculous. They are always slow and I used to deal with it but I’m done with them. Seriously, save yourself the headache and order from San Leandro. They are consistently happy to serve their customers and don’t change their rules all the time.
