The original Las Casuelas is by far the best of the chain. Definitely a local favorite and the one that my family and friends go to when we want authentic Mexican cuisine. Richard Palm Springs
My husband had the taco sampler which he LOVED. I had the green sauce enchiladas with spinach and pine nut filling...it was interesting but ultimately not for me. That wouldnt do for the amazing staff at Las Casuelas. You didnt love the food? What was wrong with it? Me: Nothing it just wasnt for me. What do you want instead? Me: Beef Tacos? Done! They took the enchiladas away and brought me the most AMAZING shredded beef Tacos! You know that scene in Ratatouille when the food critic tastes the dish and it takes him back to his childhood? I swear that happened! I was transported back to a simpler time while at my grandmothers home and she served me the juiciest shredded beef tacos! It was an experience! Rice was good, beans were great, Tacos were transformative! Shoutout to our server Delia who had just the BEST SERVICE! Las Casuelas: Good service, cozy Mexico vibes, delicious food!
If you are thinking of having Mexican (or the best margaritas in Palm Springs), forget anywhere else and make your way here. Mario (the chef in the photo) and their staff have one of the best low key, great value, authentic Mexican restaurants that is a must see! Do yourself a favor and make sure to stop here on your trip.
I was there for the memorial weekend with my family and our server NOELIA went above and beyond, every request with a smile she was very knowledgeable about the menu and offered great recommendations, she make our time a great experience.
Good food, but expensive prices, but Palm Springs is a tourist trap. Not bad overall.
First time here with a friend who raved about it and I was not disappointed. Food and drink were excellent!
The best place to get authentic Mexican cuisine at a great price per plate.
Good homemade style. Mexican food. Always reliable and consistent. Margaritas a bit expensive for what you get.
Their food was good and the prices were decent. I ordered I think combo #2 which was taco, enchilada, and chile relleno. I also liked their margarita. The food was very fulfilling.
I've been coming to Las Casuelas for about over two years now, and this Original location has a secret ultra delicious Spicy Margarita that we begged for the recipe. Unfortunately, the only way to have their recipe, is at their restaurant which additionally allows you to have their equally delicious food. Today, I tried for the first time in my life the Carnitas (Pork) Fajitas which I never see anywhere at any Mexican Restaurant. That was way off the charts good as well. Bottom line is, everything here is spectacular! I am in love with Carnitas, next time I want to try the Chile con carne with Pork. You must start with the Spicy Margarita though, come on in!
las Casuellas great food the chips are great thefood yheisall greatgiveout 10 I recommend if you go this you will like it
Attentive service was quick and friendly. Great location with sidewalk seating downtown. It was a wonderful experience with people walking by and stars overhead.
I have to give 5 stars because I love this Mex food of my youth SOO much! (Since 1970.) I had to drive 100 miles out of my way (twice) to eat here while in Riverside for biz this week. No one has same flavors as the Delgado recipes - the red enchilada sauce (+ onions), excellent rice & refried beans, thin & yummy chips & crunchy taco w/ that old familiar salsa - love it so much! Super sizzling hot w/ 2 whole olives + creamy guacamole. Crazy how indifferent the staff are from yeater-year. Could not care less about patrons. Hostess has ZERO eye contact - even w/ several interactions/payment. Waiter is very efficient, but must be used to resting on laurels of the love of their food. No return to check on me - No convo. Very different than when Senora Delgado used to run this place w/ a sense of joy. The 70s Mexi music was great fun - & hysterical that the tacky booths & pics/decorations are all identical for 50+ years. Nostalgia, but I can see why the tourists want to sit outside! Haha. ❤️ 🇲🇽 Las Casuelas! For atmosphere, I go to Terraza.
The food was great so much better than the mexican restaurants at home in Oklahoma. They treated us well and it was the only time I had ever been able to eat salsa with my chips because of my pickiness. The only complaint I have is that it is kind of hard to accommodate for a large group because the small amount of room.
Fantastic all around. A friend was telling me about how she has been going here for 50 years. Wife and I after leaving back to LA after our weekend in JTreeNP decided to eat here based on my friends observations. Atmosphere is great. Murals are nice. Booths large. The gentleman who helped us was super friendly and courteous and the food was really tasty. We shared the Creamy Guacamole and I had Maria's Spinich Enchalada with Suiza sauce. Both were incredible. Portion was large - we had left overs - and whatever they are putting in the creamy guacamole? I haven't tasted anything like it before. Great food. Great experience was not surprised that my friend has been coming here for 50 years and that it has been around for close to 70. Definetly worth a stop while in it driving past Palm Springs.
Las Casuelas offers simple, standard Mexican food that will leave you feeling full and satisfied. It tastes homemade, and the portion sizes are generous. The staff are friendly, and the dining area is mostly indoors, which is great for hot summer days.
My friends at "Las Casuelas" and me. What a wonderful place to eat at Palm Spring, California. Like a good neighbor "Las Casuelas" is there to delivery excellent and flavorous Mexican dishes dishes. Leonardo was a fantastic and friendly host and here we are in the picture at my departure. Unforgettable experience!
My friend chose this place because they heard about it from someone and always wanted to try! The restaurant gives old school vibes and seems family run We were sat after about 5-10 Min and you can see they were short staffed but also that they were really hustling and moving fast to give everyone the best experience. Having been a server myself I am content to receiving my chips and salsa as well as my drink and not being bothered until my food arrives. The quacomole was delicious and creamy as stated on the menu and the drinks were strong and delicious. I ordered the chicken quesadillas and it was an extremely large portion!
I love this restaurant. The food is delicious. I especially love the shrimp fajitas. Portions are great! The service is excellent. There’s seating inside and out. It’s a large restaurant so even when it’s crowded it’s not a long wait. Whenever we are in Palm Springs and want Mexican food; this is the place we love to go to.
So exciting to return home and find Las Casuelas just the way I remember from many, many years ago (50+)! Food, service and atmosphere us perfect! ♥️
Traditional good Mexican food. Not a chain restaurant. Will definitely go back when in PS
Good stuff. We had reservations for 4 adults and 5 kids on a Saturday night. Place was busy but we were seated pretty quickly. Kids had quesadillas, adults had different combo dishes - everyone enjoyed their meals. They also offered free chips and salsa which the table went through 2 rounds of. Adults also had a round of margaritas. Spicy margaritas were spicy!…and really good. 👍🏻
Great meal. Good service. This is the O.G. location for Las Casuelas and I'm not sure why they don't all make their chile rellenos the same, but these ones are by far the best out of the 3 locations down here. They are celebrating 65 years in business this year and there is definitely a reason why. I've been eating here for a long time, and I'm not sure why I've never written a review, but they do not ever disappoint. If you love rellenos, definitely get one here. Everything else is awesome as well. If you are a drinker, they have a full bar and the Prickly Pear Margarita. Thanks to all the folks at The Original Las Casuelas. Congrats on 65 years... and cheers to 65 more!
This is the best of the Las Casuelas's restaurants. There are at least 3 or 4 others... I love this place so much! It's the OG! I have been coming here for 50 yrs! Because my Dad took me here in the 60's. If you get Rolando, well let's just say it will be a great experience..he is the absolute best person and does everything to make you happy...I never want to go there unless he is working...he always has the best attitude...the margaritas are incredible...best old fashioned California Mexican food in P.S. Trust me! I AM A CALI/MEXICAN FOOD AFICIONADO! Chips & Salsa too! YUM! We always sit outside because we bring our Chihuahua...she loves it here too!
LOVE the old school dining room. Classic Mexican food - delicious and filling. Strong Margaritas
I love Las Casuelas the food is probably my favorite Mexican food out of tons of Mexican restaurants I've been to the tacos 🌮 😋 are juicy and the never disappointment or my family or friends
The atmosphere has so much history. The service is great, and you can tell this restaurant has been loved for generations. Even Elvis Presley used to love this place! I always enjoy coming here with my family and friends, definitely one of my favorite spots!
Amazing service from my server Delia! The patio is beautiful and the food was 10/10 the albondigas bowl and guacamole were both delicious. I loved everything about this place
The flan was so good! Everything was delicious. One of my favorite spots to come with my daughter🩷The flan was so good! Everything was delicious. One of my favorite spots to come with my daughter🩷
Stopped by Original Las Casuelas and loved the vibe the lights and outdoor seating make it such a cool spot at night definitely a great place to hang out and enjoy good food in Palm Springs.
If you’re visiting Palm Springs or looking for real Mexican food, this spot is a must try. I will definitely be coming back!
The third generation owned so delicious Mexican foods in Palm Springs. Love the taste, quality, generous portions, and fresh ingredients. Excellent service and fair prices. Highly recommend!
We had the joy of experiencing some delicious burritos and chili rellenos for lunch and could not have been more pleased. The service we received from the moment we entered and were seated up until we received our delicious meal and headed back home was exceptional. The staff was courteous, kind, expedient and professional. The food was delicious and the faint Spanish music playing in the background created the perfect ambiance for a wonderful afternoon getaway for my lady and I. If you are in search of a nice place to drop in and have a wonderful meal at a restaurant with friendly staff and delicious food, then look no further than Las Casuelas. You can thank me later. :)
hidden gem in the Palm Springs area. I highly recommend the huevos rancheros. our server delia was amazing and she said she had worked there for almost 10 years. the staff was attentive, everyone seemed to care about the restaurant, and the food was good. portion size is huge and quality is great. the presentation is straight forward but the flavor was there and the ambience is charming and warm.
We really enjoyed this place. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. The chips and salsa and our entrees were really good and the portions were large. The staff was also very friendly and attentive. The restaurant has been around since 1958 and it fit nicely in the vibe of Palm Springs' mid-century modern design. We'll definitely go back!
Great location to go, but particularly on Cinco de Mayo. Authentic dishes and atmosphere. Family owned since 1958. Tacos, rolled tacos, and enchiladas are delicious. Salsa and chips are a great start. Small inside but there is an open air patio on the street. You get to decide. Ask for the Elvis booth if you sit inside. YES, he used to eat there too.
During my one of my trips to California, I visited Coachella Valley, where I came across LAS CASUELAS, a Mexican restaurant that has been at Palm Canyon Drive for over 6 decades. Most of the restaurants in this area are on the higher end pricing, but Las CASUELAS was affordable and served generous portions. I was greeted with chips and salsa, which is typical from mexican restaurants. I ordered fajitas, and it came with rice, refried beans, and tortillas. The food was delicious and I could not finish my plate. I would love to repeat this place and try other dishes. I recommend CASUELAS ORIGINAL at Palm Springs.

Noelia was our server. She was informative and so nice. The food came out fast and was delicious. We loved the salsa, great texture and flavor. Great old school Mexican vibe.
FIRST TIME! \nGreat drinks, awesome food...will be back! \nReferred by our amazing neighbor and absolutely loved it!
Always excellent food and friendly service - the original and the best. Get the crispy shredded beef tacos!!!!

We really enjoyed the food and the experience, we had a great server, food came out fast and it was delicious! We asked him for a few suggestions and they were amazing! Highly recommend eating here…
We love going to the original family-owned Las Cazuelas. The food is always on par the service is always good. My only complaint is that I can't eat as much as I used to and wish that I could. I love to guacamole. I love their enchiladas. I love their tacos Dundas, and I especially love their homemade tortilla chips to eat with the guacamole
Excellent location in the heart of downtown Palm Springs. All of the employees are friendly and welcoming. The concept of getting out of your seat to go up to the counter and order your food and drinks is not for everyone. The food is ok and margaritas are good . Not impressive but not disappointing. It's a fun and casual atmosphere. Fairly priced for what you get. Perfectly located for a little stroll along the strip.
Everything was good and flavorful. Given its placement in Palm Springs, the price points were reasonable. I would say, very well-rounded and flavorful appetizers, dishes and service. This particular establishment seems to hire really good humans and the service was definitely five star.
The Original Las Casuelas (a few blocks up the street from the popular, much larger, attractive Las Casuelas Terraza) is a long-time favorite spot for locals. It has the same excellent food and margaritas in an unassuming indoor space with classic booths inside and narrow sidewalk dining in front. The service by the wait staff is always friendly and attentive. You won't be disappointed!
Enchiladas suizas are excellent. Guacamole is unbelievably fresh and tasty. Server was very attentive and helpful.
Old time feel, good food, warm welcoming staff. The portions are huge and yummy. I had the breakfast chilaquiles mmm and my son had the nachos. Terrific rice and the refried beans with melted cheese like homemade. Only improvement to suggest is a chunkier fresher table salsa but the one they serve is still good.
Good food, reasonable prices, and large portions. I can't say enough about the great service we got from our wait staff (Joe and the gal that kept us happy with many baskets of fresh chips & salsa!) The restaurant is clean and lovely decorated. The margaritas were super tasty! I recommend the larger one for the price.
They start you off with chips and salsa. I had the house Margarita which was descent. The food portions were big, we got steak taco plate and fish taco plate. We had to box up half of each. Giving a 4 star because once the waiter served us food, he never came back. No water refill or checked in on us… still gave 18% tip.
Got the grilled chicken tacos. 🌮Huge portion. Only ate one. Haha. Tasted super amazing. Wonderful flavor. Guac and sides🥑 were great. Fresh off the grill, was super hot. Wrapped up also. The service was a tiny bit slow. Didn’t replenish our chips and salsa. But that’s ok! The salsa also only came in one bowl. Not conducive to easy access and dipping for the whole table. Also gross for germs if you’re not with your family lol. But the vibes were good and the food was great. Crevice tasted very fishy 🐟but people like that (I don’t) but it was wonderful overall! 👍
I like to visit during my work trips since it's walking distance. I always get the enchiladas. I usually like to get one beef and cheese enchilada but, unfortunately they still charge you for 2 beef. The surcharge pricing is very unfair for food you're not actually eating. The tacos are quite small here. I like the chips and salsa. Overall, the food tastes very good.
Good Mexican restaurant in the downtown area of Palm Springs. The service was really what made it for me and our waiter was super good at checking in on us while we were outside. The smothered burritos are pretty good and overall a classic straightforward type of Mexican restaurant. We were celebrating a special occasion and got their fried ice cream as a treat!
Never been here before, my first time and I chose the original Las Casuelas over the newer ones because Frank Sinatra ate there. The place was a little small and the seating was uncomfortable. When I was looking at the menu the server was a bit annoying and kept asking "Are you ready to order?" I ordered the combination plate #5 and my friend ordered combination #1, it was so much food I had to take half of my food to go. Overall the service was good, the food was delicious, the price is a bit high but the portions make up for it. I would recommend it to anyone who wants Mexican food. And definitely go for the historic significance of the restaurant!

I've been a loyal fan of this Casuelas but the last 3 or 4 visits have been disappointing. Lame margaritas. Bland food. Inconsistent service. I hope they turn it around but I'm gonna wait a while.
Been coming here for over 25yrs. Haven't been in 2 yrs becausewe don't live near anymore. So we decided to take the long drive for the delicious food we were used to. Well... 1st the restaurant was packed which shows a good sign. But the food didn't have that great Authentic flavor I was use to. The beans were bland. I askes for a combination plate with 2 enchiladas and a taco. And was told they could substitute so They charged me $7.95 for an a la cart ground beef tacos which is insane. My server was an older man and he was nice but 1 of the waitresses walked around with an attitude. I was disappointed with the whole experience.

I basically sat myself, I had left the restaurant next door because they wanted $5.00 for non customers to use the toilet and $$ for chips and salsa. Hmmm. So like I said I walked in and the busboy was doing side work and said anywhere you want. It's 5:30 I sat outside and got chips and salsa and proceeded to wait 15 minutes for the waitress. It says, $8.95 for the taquitos. That's one horrible dry chicken Stew filled taquito.but then they charge you for 3@$15.95 ugh . Doesn't return, doesn't ever come back. I looked for a Togo box in the dining room 🤢. And again about 10 minutes later I asked for my check looking for her. She was a mess. She said I don't need your change when she was taking forever opening coin rolls, I just said, ok We are good. Bad ending. BTW place was 5% full just starting dinner Sunday night and I still tipped
Not a full house. It was a Weds. Staff were nice, but service was extremely lacking. Over 30 minutes just to get drink orders. Over an hour to have our order taken. 2 hours by the time any food started to show up. We have been to multiple Las Casuelas locations and this was very disappointing for the first time. We still tipped and worked with the service for what it was. But it has to get better. Even though we had a big group, Our food should not have taken 2 hours for simple dishes. And when the food came out it was barely warm anymore.
I really wanted to like this place given its historic presence in Palm Springs, but unfortunately the experience fell flat. The food was below average—my carne asada was tough, dry, and clearly overcooked. It lacked the flavor and quality you’d expect from a restaurant with this kind of reputation. Service was even worse. It took an unreasonably long time just to get water, and we waited far too long for both our food and the check. The staff seemed overwhelmed or disinterested..
Such great Mexican food. Really good beans, excellent chili relleno. Crappy service.
Watered down margaritas long on sugar and ice, and short on tequila. My carne asada burrito ranchero was mostly beans, cheese, some pieces of over cooked and poorly seasoned steak cubes, and...celery!? The ranchero sauce could’ve come from a Chef Boyardee can. Tasted about the same - tomato paste with no spice. The staff was friendly and the outdoor seating was nice.
There was a bad smell inside so we ate outside. The quesadillas were terrible. Red sauce on top of quesadillas tasted terrible.
I hate to give a bad review but this was the worst meal my family has had in a long time and I feel obligated to help others avoid the same mistake. Inside the restaurant smelled weird. We sat outside with traffic rushing by.
It's a beautiful location and the staff were semi-friendly but someone came out and took a picture of us randomly while we were eating. The service took a long time and they got our order wrong. It was on the expensive side for what we ordered and quality was low. The seating arrangements between tables were very close together and uncomfortable

If you’re retired white folk on a low spices diet, this is your place. While chips are great and the margaritas are strong, I believe they do it to distract you from the fact that the salsa isn’t fresh and some dishes are drowning in tomato sauce, hence everything in the plate is soggy. The service is lovely tho.
Food was horrible. Meat was so hard. Beans were old. Worst Mexican food I’ve tried in my life. And I’m Mexican. Only giving one star because zero stars are not available. waitress she started yelling at me when I told her that I wanted a discount. After all, We did not eat any of the food! Would not recommend this place at all!
Our service was wonderful. That's where it stops. $6 for a coke! My tropical salad was a bowl of lettuce with mango, dates, pepper slices chopped so small it was ridiculous and 4 tiny pieces of jicama for $21.95. A table of 6 locals who won't be coming back.
⭐ 1 Star (I would give 0 if I could) I had dinner at Los Consuelo’s Original Palm Springs last night with a family member, and it was a terrible experience from start to finish. The staff was rude, clearly understaffed, and seemed to take their frustrations out on customers. When we arrived, the hostess ignored us for five minutes before curtly telling us, “there was a wait.” Once we were finally seated, our server, Delia (according to the receipt), was rushed and impatient. She dropped off chips and salsa without any napkins, and when I politely asked for them, she said she’d bring some but never did. I ended up having to get up and retrieve napkins and silverware myself from her station, where they were sitting out in the open, completely exposed and unsanitary. The lack of cleanliness and professionalism was shocking. By the time we had utensils, one of my family member’s meals was already cold. When I asked for that meal to be comped, Delia was visibly upset, blamed my family member for finishing the cold food (only because she was hungry), and gave us attitude instead of resolving the issue respectfully. The manager eventually agreed to take care of the meal, but Delia’s behavior continued—she gave us dirty looks and stomped away to the back. Her hostility and lack of basic customer service skills were unacceptable. I’ve worked in the service industry before and understand how stressful it can be, but that’s no excuse to treat customers rudely or neglect cleanliness and basic courtesy. This was one of the worst dining experiences I’ve ever had, and we will never return. By the way, I always Over Tip my servers by 25% most likely a 50% tip and this was the first time I left zero! This place has seen better days. Good luck!
I'm confused how this restaurant has high reviews. Food was awful, waitress had an attitude. We arrived about 8:15 and they close at 9. If they didn't want to service us than say so. Don't give patrons crappy service because you thought you would leave early. Ordered the enchilada and vegetable taco. It had veggies in a cold tortilla and nothing else. Completely plain and bare. The enchilada was cold dipped into salsa with the same plain stale veggies. It was thrown together and it showed. The worst meal I've ever had at any restaurant. Never returning here again. If I could give them a negative star review I would. Food wasn't cheap either considering how awful it tasted.
We’ve been visiting here for 40 years since we were married in 1982. We went to California in August 2022, we stopped here for lunch. We were so excited! Can’t tell you how disappointed we both were at the service and the food. The sauce was terrible, like they opened a can of Las Palmas sauce and poured it on top. Sooooo “TASTELESS”! I ate part of the tamale and left the rest of the entire plate of food. I could not even eat it! The waitress NEVER smiled and we had to ask them to turn the misters on outside because of the 115 degree heat. Shouldn’t have even had to ask! The hostess did come out and pour a little bowl of water for the dogs which was nice. However, we asked for more water for ourselves, we had to wait forever “in the heat” and then my husband had to get up and open the door and ask the hostess for more water. The waitress took way too long to come outside to ask us if we needed anything. Then the hostess brought the water and poured it in our glasses from the same pitcher she used for the dogs bowl! Not going back.
The staff left the two front doors open in 50 degree weather. We asked them to close them and the manager told us he would not do it and acted like he would assault us for asking. We left after eating half of our lack luster food. Avoid this restaurant, and if you go be ready to call the police because of the violent manager.
The service was horrible and the food was okay. When we arrived, we waited at our table, for 10-15 minutes before we went in search for someone to wait on us. After ordering our meals, 5 minutes later, we ordered drinks. We waited 15 minutes and my husband went to the bar regarding our drinks. He had to go up a second time to ask about our drink order. When they were finally delivered, my husband had finished his meal and he told Kayla, the wait person, he didn't want his Mimosa. Kayla immediately swept the drink away and rudely told us she'll return it to the bar and left. No apology or even a smile for the long delay. Upon paying we were told our lack of service was due to several celebratory groups with two wait staff servicing the groups and individual customers. If that's the case, first off, it is not my issue and secondly, it appears management dropped the ball. My tips are typically generous but, for the first time, I left nothing.
TERRIBLE SERVICE! The waitress on Monday, February 9 (around 7:30 PM) dressed in all black with her hair in a ponytail was completely miserable and incredibly uninviting. She sat us and put chips and salsa on the table and acted like we were asking her to donate one of her lungs, and ignored us for 15 minutes. I overheard the other tables around us complaining about how long they were waiting for their check. After 20 minutes with no one coming up to us, I left a $5 bill on the table for the chips and salsa and we got up and left. She was standing at the table right next to us clearing it and didn’t even say anything. Very miserable servers here, the menu was very sparse too.
My husband and I had the worst experience in this restaurant. How can they say is authentic when they use can sauce for their enchiladas las palmas to be precise. Tasteless , no flavor and the tortillas were so hard like they put it inside the microwave and put too much time . I couldn’t eat them and my husband couldn’t even finish his food either so tasteless and the chile verde made of shredded pork with can sauce . I will never come back to this restaurant ever again. The servers were so busy they couldn’t even keep up and it took 30 minutes for our food to come out . Took them like 15 minutes to get us water .
After being seated, we did not receive water for 20 minutes. We did not receive utensils until we asked for them and the food was mediocre at best. It took them 15 minutes to bring us the flan and over 30 minutes to give us the check even though we asked several times. When we complained about the terrible service, we were told that they were busy. As a well established restaurant, being busy is not an excuse to completely neglect your customers. We wasted over 1.5 hours at this restaurant for a meal for three people. The ambience was loud and crowded. Do not come to this restaurant.
We had a dinner here and food was mediocre at best. I ordered tortilla soup and it had hair in it, plus it tasted just like water - no tomatoes, no chicken, no avocado, no anything. There was only some tortilla chips with cheese. Chicken salad was dry and unseasoned with no dressings. Waiting time was around 25-30 minutes.
