I came from Utah for a visit and ate at this place as I heard the food is good. The food IS good. So delicious. The breadsticks are the best I ever had and the chicken picata is so tasty! Portions are big and service was great. I'm sad I can't take this place back to Utah with me.
Only opened 2 months and very pleased with service, food and costs. Table bread was fresh, my lasagna was excellent. My sister's salad was plentiful and delicious as well. I am looking forward to returning to try other menu items. Highly recommended.
It is tucked away so we never saw it driving, but I am so glad we found it online! We tried a bunch of different pastas and they were all very delicious and piping hot. The restaurant was quiet, clean and the service was friendly and attentive. Next time we are in I want to try the pizza- many people came in for take out and pizza seemed to be a very popular choice.
We were there early (4:30) on a Tuesday, so wasn’t busy until after 5 then it picked up. Husband had Speghetti with Italian sausage and I had Cannelloni. Both were fantastic. Service was great, place was very clean. We’d go back again.
Small locally owned Italian restaurant. Appears newly remodeled and simple but neat decorations. Generous portions leaving enough to take home for the following day. Chicken Marsala sauce was outstanding. Lasagna was hot and flavorful but could have used a bit more meat in the sauce. Garlic bread was unique in that the crust reminded me of a croissant.
I've been eating here at least twice a month since they opened less than a year ago. Phenomenal food and portions, authentic italian, delicious, abundant sauce, stellar service, top notch hidden secret in E Mesa! My go-to is the chicken cacciatore and my senior friend loves the pasta Trio or marsala. I also hear people raving about the pizza all the time. I both dine in and pick up for comfy at-home enjoyment. I also always get two meals from each one! The prices are a value, too! I truly can't say enough positive about this fabulous family owned restaurant.
This was our second time to eat here! Great service and yummy food! Great Italian food! Tastes homemade and fresh! Their rolls are drool worthy and their red sauce has the best flavor of any I’ve had! Definitely will be repeat customers!!
Tried Joe's tonight for the first time and ordered takeout. My mom had the meatball parm sandwich and I had the regular calzone. Everything was delicious. The portions are more than generous and the staff was extremely friendly and efficient. Will definitely be back!
This is a gem. Just had dinner at Joe's tonight. Food was amazing and service was outstanding as well. I had linguine with white clam sauce, my companion had spaghetti with meatballs. Calamari for an appetizer. Not fancy, but great food in a casual environment. Large portions and great value. I look forward to returning soon and grazing my way through the menu. You will be happy, I certainly am.
During these hard Economic times, I like to support small businesses over chains and fast food joints. I decided to pick up lunch for my husband and myself since I had wanted to try this local restaurant for a couple of weeks now. Entering the establishment, I received a nice welcoming greeting from the Cashier. I perused the menu, which had a good selection of Pasta dishes, Salads, Appetizers, Seafood entrees, Pizza and Desserts. The dining room was clean, spacious and attractive. While I waited for my Greek Salad with Grilled Chicken and Meatball Sandwich to arrive, the Cashier offered to refill my Lemonade as I watched a soccer game on the television in the corner. After a 15-minute wait, the food was given to me packaged in two large aluminum pie pans with lids. The Greek Salad was huge and was filled with fresh tomatoes, cucumbers, Kalamata olives, red onion, Feta cheese and Romaine lettuce. The grilled chicken was delicious and it was served with a cup of Balsamic dressing. The Meatball submarine had fresh toasted bread with a number of meatballs and a good serving of melted Mozzarella cheese on top. The Italian sauce was flavorful and hearty. I was very impressed and next time will try one of their desserts like the Tirimisu.
Wow! We finally got time to stop in and try it. Interior was spotless, tables were new, waiter was on his game, I haven't had service like that in a long time..The food was very good and large portions. We usually give places 2 try's before we write them off, no need, this will be a regular stop for us. Very Happy.
This mom and pop restaurant was great! Mom was the chef and her two sons were our servers. They are very friendly and prompt with service. The place itself is super clean and very cute and cozy. Portion sizes were huge and the prices were extremely reasonable. We had calamari, a house salad, spaghetti, spaghetti and meatballs, and chicken parmesan. The spaghetti with meat sauce was super tasty and actually had chunks of hamburger meat. The meatballs were about the size of a lemon. The chicken parmesan had two cutlets of chicken. The salad was fresh and crisp, and the blue cheese dressing was delicious.
This place is A Must-Try Spot for Comforting Italian Food My husband and I recently had lunch at Joe’s Italian Restaurant, and we were both seriously impressed. It’s a cozy, family-owned place with a really welcoming atmosphere, the kind of restaurant where you immediately feel at home. The staff were all super friendly and made us feel taken care of from the moment we walked in. We started with their complimentary bread and butter, and honestly, even that was amazing. The bread was warm and fluffy with a nice crust, and the butter was soft and flavorful, simple, but done right. For our mains, my husband ordered the Chicken Marsala, and it was perfect for him since he loves mushrooms. The chicken was tender, and the sauce had so much flavor without being too heavy. He kept saying how good it was after every bite. I went with the Meatball Parm because I saw a bunch of great reviews about it and they were right. It was meaty, cheesy, and just really satisfying. The kind of dish that makes you want to take your time and enjoy every bite. We also shared a Supreme Pizza, and it was another hit. You could tell the dough was hand-kneaded it had that nice chew and crispness and the mozzarella was clearly fresh. Everything about it tasted homemade and thoughtful. For dessert, we split the cannoli, and it was so good. Crunchy shell, creamy filling, not too sweet just right. And it was big enough for two people to share, which was a nice surprise. One thing that stood out to us was the portion sizes. Every dish was generous, and we definitely left full (with leftovers!). It’s the kind of place where you really get your money’s worth. If you’re looking for comforting, delicious Italian food in a friendly, laid-back setting, Joe’s Italian is definitely worth checking out. We’ll be back for sure!
Fantastic classic Italian food! My wife ordered the marinara spaghetti and for myself a meatball sub. The meatball sub was 10/10. Fresh meat, good sauce and cheese. Everything made in house and it shows in the taste and smiles. The family and crew were all very nice and on point with anything we needed/wanted. Not just the best Italian restaurant in Mesa but the best restaurant in the city imo.
I give it a generous four overall. The outside is deceptive but the interior is nice. Tip.... Don't sit by the door. Server was very good. The biggest problem was the past was way overcooked and like mush. I had the chicken Marsala while my wife had the chicken piccata. Both had decent flavor although somewhat plain despite the too overcooked pasta. The chicken was abundant and tender. The sauce is super creamy and with the overcooked pasta lost its appeal. I know each restaurant adds their own touch to these dishes so the character of the plate can differ greatly. We ate at the Joe's in Carlsbad NM a few weeks ago and absolutely loved it giving it 5-stars. Looking at other reviews, the same dish is seen with different colors/shades of sauce which tells me the kitchen is still (hopefully) trying to get it right. Overall no real complaints that would prevent us from giving it another shot. The Calzone another table had looked amazing. I may have to try it next time. I hope they take this feedback to heart because this restaurant really does have a lot of potential.
Very nice and affordable. Felt long for service, but they had a nice crowd and I had my hungry 6 year-old with me to make the wait feel longer. I was disappointed in the pasta sampler, the way it is served (smothered in sauce and covered with cheese), although good, made it hard to tell what I was eating. My daughter had the Chicken Parm which was generously portioned, delicious, and had a pleasing presentation. The Bread/Rolls.... I will return just for them. Soft, fluffy, great flavor and with a pleasing crispy exterior. Highly recommend 👌
We went to Joe's for the first time last night. The restaurant was clean and the server very friendly. Food was served quick and hot. Menu prices were reasonably. The cheesy garlic bread and garlic knots were delicious! The entrees we ordered did not "wow" us, but we will definitely go back to try other menu items! This is a cute little Italian spot that you should give a try!
I LOVE this place! Super convenient for us, we try to go weekly. My partner is still trying to find something on the menu that he really likes, but I personally love their pastas. (Just FYI, their baked ziti does not contain meat. Though, you might be able to request it? My partner was a bit disappointed when he got it.) My main critique is the atmosphere. The biggest one being that there’s always a foul odor when we come and I’m not sure what it is from or why it never goes away. Almost like it’s coming from the vents? Really hard to truly enjoy your meal when there’s something around you that smells. I also really love the workers and owners here, They’re amazing and so kind. I believe they are Albanian and I would strongly encourage them to display their culture more! Or, give the place more of a traditional Italian feel. Currently, the Asian/Oriental vibe is still lingering (I think it’s the orchids on the table), also the TV screen is always on like a cozy/cabin screen saver and it doesn’t seem to belong. I think maybe having a screen that shows like Sicilian, Italian, or Albanian regions either city or countryside. Maybe even some instrumental music to bring it more of that feeling! I hope they are here to stay because we love having them in our community, they’re just across the road!
We visited Joe's Italian Restaurant on a Monday for dinner. We were seated quickly and the server was friendly. The food quality was poor and the delivery was staggered. My date's Fettuccine Alfredo with Chicken was served several minutes before mine. The pasta was fine, but the sauce and meat were bland. My Baked Ziti was a small portion, pink, and soupy. It tasted milky and lacked the texture and flavor of traditional baked ziti. We also felt uncomfortable when we overheard other patrons insulting our friendly server. The food was disappointing, and the atmosphere was marred by the behavior of other customers.
We’ve been here several times before and always had good food and service. Last night was so different. Husband had the sampler and all he could see was lasagna. No indication there were two other types of food on the plate. He was not happy with the dish at all. I had chicken parm and it was good but the they go overboard on the sauce. Garlic knots are not worth the money. We waited 40 minutes to get our drinks and had to flag them down for them. Food took even longer. Not good service at all. It was busy but not full to capacity and the table next to us had the same issues as us. We won’t be returning to Joe’s.
2 stars for good bread and size portion. We ordered chicken alfredo, lobster ravioli and kids chicken strips. Crunchy bread came in timely manner, 15 minutes later, lots of alfredo sauce on some noodles, rather bland, strips were still cooking. 10 minutes later, 5 ravioli with tepid pink sauce. I ate 4. Finally kids strips, one with pink shiny middle. They took them off ticket and offered to replace with to go box but we were leaving town. We left more food than we ate for almost $50.00
We wouldn't know what the food taste like. We were sat and forgotten. Watched servers walk past us not say hi or offering drinks. About 10 minutes of this and we walked out. What a shame. I was really looking forward to trying that calzone. We won't be back.
