I ordered the general jones' wings (not spicy), beef chow fun, shredded pork/chives/tofu, and pan fried pork buns. Everything tasted great as expected but the shredded pork was the all-star that I couldn't stop eating. I forgot to take pictures until I already started eating.

Absolutely delicious! Everything is always good, I've been been disappointed with a meal there. The wide rice noodles are my favorite!!

Great food & wonderful service. Conveniently located in the main area of Chinatown. Many lunch specials include soup for $8-$9. Quite a good value. Street parking (metered) available for a couple hours or lots nearby as well.

The Best place so far for the Best authentic Chinese food! I got it to go and really appreciate how my food was packaged. Makes it very easy to reheat if necessary.

I really enjoyed this place to eat. Service was quick. It was not full of people so I can comment on how it is during rush hour. But drinks and taking our order was quick. We ordered the hot and sour soup, General Tso's Chicken, Chicken Chow Mein, and the potstickers. Everthing was really good! But be careful because everything comes oit really hot! Blow on your food. The potstickers are really big and delicious. The chow mein was a little different than expected and was the least favorite. We expected soft noodles but this chow mein was like toasted cup o noodles with the chicken, bamboo, broccoli, and sauce on top. I wouldnt order this plate again. The General Tso's was good but I would have liked to compare it to their orange chicken. Can't beat their location! Right in the heart of Chinatown next the the fire station. Take your Chinatown tourist picture in front of the famous entrance gateway and then a few steps to the restaurant. It shouldn't disappoint.

This is a really nice place to dine in. The staff might seem rude at first, but they are actually very nice and will answer any question you ask about the menu. It's a small location and the aesthetics of the restaurant are very pleasing. The food is really good and they give out generous portions as well. Nearly everyone in our group had to get a box for leftovers. 5/5 Would eat here again.

My hobby and I love soup dumplings but couldn't find a place in Chicago which serves them. Finally we could find Moon Palace located in China Town. They have a very tasety dumplings and I totally recommend trying them. We tried couple other dishes and overall the quality of their food is above most of restaurants in that area.

Went here w my boyfriend Memorial Day weekend. We had Xiao Long Bao, the pan fried buns, and the special Shanghai Braised Pork Belly (pictured). The wait staff were friendly and attentive, the place was clean and not so crowded while other places had a long wait. We were not so familiar with Shanghainese food and really liked it. The Xiao Long bao was delicious, we really enjoyed the sauces that came with it, the pan fried buns had a nice crunchy bottom. The Shanghai Pork Belly was delicious! A generous portion, great sauce, bok choy and a generous side of rice. I forgot my credit card there and they were super nice and kept it safe for me. I would highly recommend this place.

Fantastic little place with nice ambiance. Simple menu, and large portions. The soups are top notch, and they serve plenty to share! Yummy Martini's too. Try the Lucky Buddha beer!

Perfect spot before heading into city, easy walk from parking lot and to the L station. Food is Awesome!

We came here for the scallion pancakes and stayed for everything else we've tried. The scallion pancakes are fried to perfection. We've also recently had their pork fried rice which is not too dry and not too moist and well flavored. Also had their pan fried noodles with mushrooms (and extra vegetables by our request) with a rich dark sauce. Again, excellent.

This is one of the best Chinese restaurants ever. Highly recommend. The fish was outstanding. The Blue Crab was also good, along with everything else we had. The service was excellent and they went to great extremes to accommodate the food allergy that one of is had. Great place!

We have been eating at this fine establishment since it was on the other side of the street before they had a fire. We really love their food, especially Steamed Dumplings and Moon Palace Chicken. Delicious!!! Now we live in Florida, but when we.come back to visit, we always visit this place.

Great food, everything is awesome. They've got some really cool Shanghai specialties that you can't get everywhere as well as many Chinese-American classics. Check out a Thursday night here for the Nine Bar pop up with cool cocktails and food sepcials.

Great Chinese food in Chinatown. Portion size are huge with a lazy Susan family style eating so it's definitely meant for sharing. Every dish I've had has been amazing and tasty: salt and pepper squid, Shanghai noodles, orange chicken, sesame chicken, and the sweet and sour shrimp are amazing

Food was so amazing i fell in love with this restaurant, so cute and good seating. Everything we ordered was so delicious and the waitresses were so kind and attentive. Covid friendly as well. will definitely visit again. Such a gem. Pork dumplings were so amazing!!

We went to Moon Palace for lunch, and had a great experience. The food was delicious and nicely presented. The staff was courteous and our server, Lisa, was very knowledgeable about the menu to help us make choices that we thoroughly enjoyed! The restaurant was very clean and had a relaxing and pleasant atmosphere.

I have been going here since I was able enough to eat! Great place for authentic Chinese food. Pre order a lobster and the pepper crab! They will prepare it for you off my secret menu. Great service, fun old time Chinese feel to it that makes it the crown jewel in Chinatown.

Best Chinese food I have ever had. Bring the out of towners. Soup dumplings and pot stickers excellent. I had salt and pepper scallops and squid awesome. Prices you can handle. Have a Lucky Buddha beer.

Very delicious food, we had eggrolls, eggdrop soup, shrimp with vegetables, general tso's chicken. All were fresh and had great taste. The restaurant was clean and the waitresses were fantastic. 1st time trying this place and we were very happy with it. If you hit Chinatown make sure and try Moon Palace, you will not be disappointed! Closest place to the big parking lot and don't forget to have your parking ticket validated, they actually give you another ticket that you use with the one from the lot and then parking is only $2.00 !!! Can't beat that. Enjoy

Moon Palace has been and still is MY favorite "Chineese" restruant for over 25 years. Food is consistently great, and the pot stickers are THE best! I wish they still had a sit down restruant, but some things change

A Chicagoland staple and perennial Chinese Cantonese favorite. Established in the 80's, Moon palace has morphed into a relevant and incredible dining experience, boasting an absolutely sick bar in the back at night. Don't miss the dumplings!!!

Very nice experience. You pick your choice of ingredients and you cook it in a hot pot at your table. Select mild as hot is very hot and we enjoy spice but it was more than expected. Enjoy!

I think I have a new favorite Chinese takeout spot! The Xiao Long Bao were delicious and succulent. The Schwezan Style green beans were so good. We ordered Moon Palace Chicken which was really spicy, rich and unique. We eat plenty of Chinese takeout and we’re so thrilled to have discovered Moon Palace!

Just had the Beef Kong Pow. It was delicious. Red & Green peppers with peanuts and hot peppers—I don’t eat those but they add a good flavor. It is in a very good sauce and serviced with rice. I’ve eaten there over a 30 year period—the Hot & Sour soup is a favorite to start a meal.

Best restaurant in Chinatown! My family has been coming here for over a decade. The majority of the staff has stayed the same in that time and they're all very warm and friendly with their regulars. Best pot stickers in Chicago, period. Come at me.

My brother raves about it. I was looking for old achool beef chop suey which they did not have. The egg rolls were mush inside and I was hoping for beans spouts and cabbage. My mom liked those as she has a hard time chewing regular ones. They are closing for a month for a well deserved vacation. Super nice hard working people!!

Definitely one of my favorite spots for wonton soup and general tsos chicken

Love their noodles with Special Sauce! Extensive menu and we have always enjoyed our meals. Saw families with all ages of children. $2.00 parking within one block. No seating wait time at 5:30pm on Saturday. This is our Chinatown go to place.

Food, service, and atmosphere were all good. BUT- If you're coming specifically for Soup Dumplings, go somewhere else. Their soup dumplings are thick dough, lots of meat, and barely any broth at all. You're better off getting pot stickers. The shrimp toast on the other hand was 10/10.

J
John Howard

The key word is "express," so it has a small menu. Ordered Xiao long bao (soup dumplings), which were really good. The crab rangoons were not good at all. 100% will not get these again. Service was slow nothing fast about it

Good sesame chicken and better pot stickers, but specifically ordered from here for their photo of their chicken and broccoli. Was disappointed by what arrived and was offered a $4 refund on a $16 entree for the discrepancy.

had an issue and the restaurant resolved it, great food. thank you moon palace. i’ll be checking out the nine bar soon 🤍 Following up, this is the second time they’ve sent me orange chicken instead of orange shrimp? I’m ordering through Uber Eats, but I’m really confused. I don’t eat chicken, and I’m allergic to it. Every time I have to waste money because of them.

Not very friendly and didn't check on us for additional drinks.

I’m not sure why this place is so highly rated. I’m all of Chinatown or Chicago in general, there are much better more traditional Chinese restaurants. It was overpriced for what it was and the soup I had was pretty salty. I hated that the menu simply said “Beef Noodle Soup” and not tell you much of what was in it or maybe put the actual name. I’ve been to far better Chinese places for much cheaper too. It seemed like it was trying to be upscale. If you’re actually Asian and don’t want gross Americanized, salty food, don’t come here. It’s one of those places you walk into and just see a ton of older people and immediately know the quality of the restaurant. That being said the service was fine and they were accommodating for a vegetarian friend and made him orange tofu instead of chicken. Portions aren’t bad but I didn’t think the taste was all that good for the cost.

Serving sizes were on the small side and an 18% gratuity was automatically added even though there were only 5 of us. The shrimp toast is delicious but the rest of the food was just ok. I paid $15 for Happy Family but have had much better for $9. A small serving of egg drop soup was $4 while in most other restaurants it's between $2 and $3 for a small bowl. The food quality does not justify the prices. I've gotten much better food at better prices from neighborhood locations.

My first and only time I'm to frequent this Chinese Food establishment. The welcome was poorly handled; as if we'd arrived at the most inappropriate time. The counter lady was curt and noticeably agitated; at our inability to quickly grasp their 6-sided oversized menu. The bouncer, I now wonder if he was really needed, incoherently mumbled what sounded to be a reiteration of no inside dining available. I ordered Sweet and Sour Chicken and my friend chose Orange Chicken. After a 15 minute return drive to my apartment, upon sitting down to eat, I found my chicken to be simply adequate. What wasn't anywhere near adequate, or sufficient, was the accompanying amount of mixed bell pepper/pineapple/sauce mix. I wound up dicing the peppers to scarcely accommodate the large size container for my order. My friend's complaint was having his Orange Chicken prepared in the style of General Taos; spicy with a a kick to it. Especially when such wasn't annotated on the menu.

I love this place and have been a customer for over 30 years. We made it a point to continue to patronize them during the Covid lockdown. Moon Palace has always been consistently good - but in 2022, something has happened to its food quality. Their formerly excellent potstickers are now merely average or a little below. The flavor of Beloved dishes has gone from excellent to lackluster. Did you lose your kitchen staff? What has happened? I’m heartbroken. Please fix what broke. I want to be a happy Moon Palace customer again.

They don't give you enough meat in your fried rice I ordered 2 different things 1#was an combination fried rice #2an beef and chicken only fried rice both hardly had any meat I didn't understand that it's only was 2 shrimps and like not even an hand filled of meat smdh am pissed 💯🚫

Really bad food experience. Egg rolls were supposed to have shrimp/pork but they only only had mushy veggies. I ordered both kinds of egg rolls. I also ordered egg fried rice with veggies. NO eggs and the ONLY vegetables included were some tough green beans. I ordered schezwuan green beans and they were gritty like they had dirt on them. My sweet and sour chicken was really soggy but that is my fault for not eating the food for hours after buying it. Really bad food experience.

I've been going to Moon Palace for over 30 years, and ever since the daughter took over. Food quality and flavor has gone down significantly and prices only seem to go up. I miss when it was an actual restaurant instead of a diner up front and a large scale bar in the back.

I ordered beef fried rice which was $9 plus $4 for the beef so total $13 plus tip came to $15. There was barely any beef, if I got any. It was the larger size but never again and it was over priced. However, they were nice.

The worse Singapore noodles I’ve ever had the noodles was dry and stuck together and no favor. I will never ever go back there.

I am honestly thinking people were paid to write such positive reviews. Today was the first time going with my family. We get there and everything looks pretty clean and nice. It was pretty much empty and we arrived there around 4pm. My family and I were pretty excited to try such a positively reviewed place. To my surprise, after being served what we ordered, I was very saddened and disappointed with the poor quality of the food. Chow mein was half cooked and had a toasted like quality. It literally looked like ramen before being cooked!! We were charged for a plate we never received and once we spoke to one of the servers, they seemed annoyed and started speaking their own native language. They didn’t apologize , they seemed very upset, however we were being charged $18 for something we didn’t receive! Also, we didn’t know they had drinks, we were only served water. We also got a sauce that LITERALLY TASTED LIKE NAIL POLISH REMOVER! It was insane!!! I was so disappointed with the quality in general. I swear I have never tasted something so bad and my family and I are not picky at all. We ate only a certain portion of food because we didn’t want to seem rude. This was the worst experience. The server we had almost threw the plate at us. Her way of serving was pretty harsh and wasn’t really amigable. This was our first and LAST time in this place!!
