Pros: - The grilled tacos - Very friendly and attentive employees - Fast service - Large portion sizes - Food is noticeably "homemade" - Large menu - Easy street parking Cons: - Closes early on Sundays - Fee for using a card to pay I recently tried Aztlan and wish I had done so sooner. Don't let the location and small building dissuade you. There is easy parking right next to the restaurant on E. 17th St. Employees are always attentive and friendly. The grilled tacos are large and amazing. The combo meals provide large portion sizes. Their chicken is top notch. Huge quesadillas. Prices are higher than a taco truck but I think the quality and portion sizes justify it. Give this place a try, you won't regret it.
Ok this is not a sit down place. They do have a small outdoor eating area. The Aztlan on Esplanade is more restaurant style. Both have great food. Great service, authentic Mexican food. I get lunch here at least once a week.
It opens at 8:30, so I was a bit late to work, but I love these breakfast burritos. My favorite is bacon with or without beans, depending on the day. I enjoy chorizo as well, but again, depends on the day. Service is always fast when you're the first one there. I don't think I waited any longer than 5 minutes
the BEST ALL AROUND RESTRAUNT IN TOWN. PERFECT MENU THE BEST TASTING tacos tortas, burritos, beans and rice I have had since my moms . if you want a new spot to eat at this is your place. also the people are genuine sincere and very friendly and helpful. I love this place.
I have been here twice. Its a traditional "mom & pop shop" with a very solid take on mexican cuisine. I had a carne asada burrito with extra cheese, sour cream, and nacho cheese. That was easily the best burrito I have ever purchased. Second time I got a classic chicken quesadilla and it was amazing. The meats were very juicy and tender. Writing this review makes me want more... It just goes to show they're successful since they just opened store #2 on esplanade. Keep up the great work Aztlan.
I like the food and the service. This is a great place for something fast . I buy my crew burritos here and they get me out the door quickly. Nice people and good food.
The burritos here are dense and flavorful, never runny, and fill me up more than most in town. I live near Aca Taco and while I do enjoy the food they serve if I can I make the trip to Atzlan I do. I get a better meal for 3 dollars less. My favorite spot for food in town( as a burrito lover).
This place never misses! I recommend getting the chilie relleno and adding a protein to it. It's the best! I absolutely love it
I've only had the quessabirria tacos. Today I was reading the menu while waiting and I might try something else, but that's a maybe. I could live off those tacos alone with some horchata. I ate it too fast to consider photos. Sorry.
Great food for the money! I had Aztlan to go on Thursday, 01/26. I ordered the carne asada burrito and cheese nachos with jalapenos. Dozens of similar restaurants and coaches in the area have had my business over the past 15 years, but that was honestly one of the best ever. Very tasty, juicy beef, and that's where most cut corners, in the quality of meat. I'll be back for sure.
Big satiating burritos for only $5.30! I have tried every taco truck in Chico and I must say this one makes top 3. A GREAT taco Tuesday spot!
Best Mexican food in town, no understatement. Their chicken is some of the best seasoned I've ever had. The tortas and chimis are to die for. I cant stop coming back every week.
Im staying across the street at Rodeway Inn and went here because it was close.. I did not expect that i would have the best torta ever! So good! The small little place with the nice employees really knows how to make an amazing Torta Cubana!
Delicious! The shredded beef is phenomenal and the Asada Fries are more than worth the price!
One of the best carne asada burritos 🌯 I’ve ever had. Delicious, highly recommended.
Best veggie burrito in Chico! The enchiladas and grilled tacos are amazing too.
Best breakfast burritos in town, at both locations!
Aztlan has become my family’s fav Mexican restaurant. On the weekends I get trays with ribs, pollo asado, rice and beans to feed my family so I don’t have to cook!!!!! They are extremely friendly and hard working. Me encanta!!!!!!
Haven’t been here in years and I’m wondering… why?? Because holy cow, they are so on point. They don’t skimp on portions and everything is made with so much flavor. It’s definitely good authentic Mexican food that isn’t overpriced. Will be coming back soon.
Really good food! Fast and friendly service. Just make sure u read the ingredients of what you're ordering so you don't make them waste food since they are a small restaurant.
Fantastic, authentic food! Great prices, too! We will definitely be back!

I Just love their grilled tacos! Carne Asada with no onions! Delicious! I would add a photo, but I ate it! LOL 😂 But
Great breakfast burrito could have been rolled just a little bit tighter but it was great.
Absolutely love the shrimp burritos they are they are the perfect mixture of everything so many different flavors and i Absolutely love it!!!
My favorite burrito in Chico! I've been getting their al pastor burritos for the last few months and they are fantastic, the al pastor is so delicious and has pineapple and sauteed onions in it. The tacos and tortas are always a good bet as well. Huge portions, short wait, good prices, can't reccomend enough!
This place is where you go to satiate the fish taco craving. 🤤 The Chipotle sauce over the cabbage and beer battered fish was amazing especially paired with the fresh squeeze of lime and lemon added to the side of your plate. The portions are big. I got the the #4 which came with two soft tacos with beer battered fish and I ended up taking one of them home with me.
They make the best breakfast burrito. They even put shrimp in mine for a small charge. They are so sweet and friendly. The wait time isn't bad, and the ingredients are always fresh. I love this spot!
Love this place so much, everything I have had here has been top tier! Service is great, food is awesome, prices are low. BBQ on weekends, only complaint is tiny building but there is outdoor seating. They have a larger location in north chico that has indoor seating

My mom and I stopped in here on a Sunday for lunch and noticed a guy cooking meat out on the bbq in front. Cool! We were the only ones in at first, which was a little worrisome, but it shortly flooded with people. They all seemed to know exactly what they wanted, so I assume they're regulars, which is a good thing if they keep coming back. Our food came out rather quickly. My mom loved her tacos and said she will definitely be coming back with the rest of the famiy. My cheese enchiladas had a great sauce on them, but the cheese wasn't fully melted on the inside. We will be back for sure. Thanks Aztlan
This place seriously has some damn-good Mexican food 🥑 🌯 My son, who is super picky, actually loves their asada 😅 Will definitely eat there again 😁
The food was served so quickly and the lady made a smothered burrito off the menu for me and I gotta say my first time here and I will most def be back!!! Green sauce is soooo yummy
Carne Asada burrito was massive. Fajitas was cheaply priced. Didn’t love all the melted cheese on the peppers though. Salsa was just average. Overall meal was pretty good.

Big Burritos (little donkeys translated), that’s for sure. Bought 2: Carne Asada and Shrimp Burritos. Carne Asada a little high in salt, like the shaker did it’s own shaking and precipitated more granules of salt than it should have been used. Plenty of rice to accompany the meat, which by the way, is a well known business strategy with in the burrito world. Adds bulk, satiates hunger, etc. The meat, otherwise looked average. The eater, well known complainer when less than ideal, only ate half. I refused the other half being I was full. 2.5 Stars. The Shrimp one was also loaded with rice, but it’s redeeming grace were the chunky shrimp, a little more generous number that merit recognition. Enough to fill most tanks, but not a work of culinary art with plenty of diced onions in the mix. 3.5 Stars. A free Carne Asada Street Taco loaded with meat, onions and cilantro. 3.5 Stars. I seriously doubt the greatness allocated to the establishment, but agreed wholeheartedly in the generous amounts dispensed, but a big burrito is not necessarily a great one. No salsa offered, nor given, chip chip. Place empty at 7:10 PM. Total: $20.15. 3 Stars.

I've been to Aztlan quite a few times on my lunch break because it's pretty close to where I work. It's takeout only for the most part. I think there may be a little table outside to sit at, but pretty much you get your food and go. My usual purchase is a burrito. The food tends to be a little heavy on sodium, and one of my slight peeves is that the burritos end up being too wet for one to a better term. Term. As if they didn't drain off enough juice before putting the fillings in. And the burritos are wrapped sort of sloppily so that they can easily unwrap while you're trying to eat them. The flavor of the food is decent and the people seem nice enough. And for the price, I'll probably continue to go there, but we'll most likely stick with being rice and cheese burritos because the others get a little too messy When I'm trying to eat them.
Used to love this place, Idk what happened! The chicken is all of a sudden super oily. It just drips out of the taco as your eating it. It never used to be this greasy...Again used to be really good, but i have heart problems and the crazy amount of oil lately just gives me chest pain. Hopefully can fix in the future

I was looking for mexican food since I was in the area and saw the reviews to this place so I gave it a try, but it was not as good as I thought it would be with the reviews given. In my experience it was alright I ordered the grilled tacos and dopes, they are OK not good enough for me to go back I wouldn't recommend this place it lacks flavor!
Got a super burrito with carnitas. Way too much cilantro. I don't know that I've ever had so much on a burrito. There was also an insane amount of rice. What's more: it was all just so salty. Good portion size for price, admittedly.
$14 for a burrito made up mostly of salty rice with dry chicken bird that taste like they were cooked the week before. The cherry on top is that if you want to make up for the dryness with salsa, be prepared to shell out 25c per tiny container. The service is even worse worse.
I wasn't impressed, I was hardly even satisfied. I got a Jamaica and a horchata and it tasted like it was made from a bag. Their burritos were okay. I wish everything was spread more evenly. As for their tacos, I have has better, but these one weren't that bad. As for the price, it was reasonable. Is you want so so food for a reasonable price, this is your place.
Worst Mexican food my family has ever had. Nacho cheese was from a can and the guacamole was smooth and runny like it was out of a tub from the grocery store. The burritos were only lightly warm and very boring. Food came out before I even have my card back in my wallet, seriously. Is that a pro or con? I think con. My nachos were just a pile of slop. And to top it off there was filthy rap playing in the background. If you enjoy the F word and N word you'll love it. One good thing though, the girl at the counter was great! She let us sample a little bit of their drinks to see which we liked better and was very sweet. Otherwise, this place is a hard pass.

Used to really like this place but after spending $20 on my meal while tipping $3 as well they were really tripping off an extra sauce. I was with 2 other pple who took 2 of the original 3 sauces i had and when i returned to ask for another were very pushy with paying 25 cent extra for another. In total my party spend about 40 to 55 dollars on our meals so i dont think that was very polite or reasonable. Will be taking my business elsewhere
Was eating my al pastor burrito and chewed into something with a strange texture. I kept eating it thinking it was just tomato. I finally decided to take a look and opened the burrito. It was full of chunks of RAW CHICKEN! I made myself throw it all up immediately. Not sure how that got into the burrito, but needless to say I'll never eat there again.
Very disappointed!!! I sent my husband here because of the reviews and because my daughter wanted a chimichanga. Well we ended up ordering 2 burritos and 2 chimichangas. The chimichangas were not deep fried at all! And both were extremely salty as well as the carne asada burrito. The only one that was ok was the bean and cheese burrito. I love salt on my food but that was inedible. We are not from here and unfortunately when I called at 8:05 they were closed already.
Burrito tasted fine and was big. I ordered the AL pastor burrito with sour cream and guacamole which is extra... The burrito was all rice and not even a mouth full of meat in it. Will not be coming back. 7+ dollars for a rice and bean burrito. no thanks.
They cheat you. Over charge you on what you get. Cost of food, .35 fee and tax. Your price will still be above what it's suppose to be. They guy said his boss doesn't care and nothing he can do. Bad business.
The meat was dry enough to be Jerky!!! Who uses chicken Jerky for enchiladas!!! I'd rather have the white washed Mexican food than eat there again!!!
Hi, I used to love this place. But after getting the runs from a simple breakfast burrito with bacon. I will never come back again. I got sick before in the past from a asada burrito. Decided to do a chicken burrito this passed Tuesday and the chicken was tough on some bites. So my passed 3 times, I have gotten sick. Bubble guts and all. Super sad. Will not be recommending either.
I use to order from here at least once a week since I live right down the street. But the food is way too inconsistent from day to day and today i finally had enough. I ordered a chicken burrito and "the chicken" was so burned and old it was rock hard and wasnt even close to being edible, as if i was given the bottom bits that had been sitting in the steam-well all week. Well you just lost a consistent customer over this subpar mess you tried to pass off as food. Shame too because the staff is really friendly, but at a restaurant the food is everything.

Terrible experience, terrible food. Called in the order, one of us requested the whole rack of ribs advertised. They called back right before we left and said they don't sell a whole rack of ribs, just a rib plate with rice and beans. Weird... but okay. Arrived to find a sign on the door and an item on the menu that's says "Whole rack of ribs." I should have asked about it, but figured they might just be low on ribs and didn't want to sell a whole rack. Staff managed to be unfriendly even though we didn't interact beyond paying and grabbing the bag. I'm glad I didn't get the whole rack. The 3 tiny, sawdust dry, extremely chewy, incredibly salty, bone shard filled spare ribs were the worst I've ever had. Ever. By far. The rice and beans were bland, the veggies on the side wilted, and the single tortilla included was chewy. Did I mention the ribs require a hacksaw and 10 glasses of water to eat? The chimichanga was a soggy, soft mess, and FULL OF CHICKEN BONES. The salsa tasted like canned tomato sauce. Absolutely insane. The regret is overwhelming.
