Thank you for having indoor dining! Your social distancing were perfect! My friend and I felt very safe and comfortable, and not being outside in the smoke and 100 degree weather was a huge plus! The food was fantastic (the tomato garlic soup is to die for) and service fantastic as well! Keep up the fantastic service for another 50 years!!
We've been customers at both locations for many many years now. The food is always good. The portions are plenty and prices decent. We've dined in and take out but have not used the new curb side pick up. Maybe next time if it's raining 😉🍕🥗🍷keep up the great food and service.
I've gone to this place since I was a kid, was always a go to for my parents and grandparents. You know your not a kid anymore when the saw dust is gone. This place has always been pretty good quality with decent portions and in my experience good quick service. The only draw back is the prices on everything have gone up $3-$6 making it a bit on the pricy side for what you get. Overall, a good pick of you want something different than usual but it's pricey compared to how it used to be.
Chicken Alfredo is amazing! The roasted garlic appetizer is also delicious. Wish they still did outdoor seating they did it during Covid but last time I went (which was a couple months ago) they no longer offered it:( Brunch is delicious I always get the eggs Benedict which is one of my favorite breakfast dishes of all time!
Beautiful place and the food was delicious. Definitely, I will back.
Seafood lasagna was amazing!! Highly recommend it!!! Hubby had a French Dip and said it was excellant!! He also likes the Pastrami Sandwich which is another favorite!! Our waitress Britany was great!!
Absolutely delicious! We didn’t have to wait to be seated and we went around dinner time. I had the smoked chicken fettuccini Alfredo and hubs had the chicken parmigiana. Both were hot and delicious. I’m picky on Alfredo because some places make it super oily but this was absolutely perfect. Served with garlic toast. Good space for couples on a date or families with kids.
Went on a Friday and got the clam chowder. Not as thick as others, but it had so many clams in it and tasted great. It was so busy, but the waitress was lovely, she always had a smile and didn't ever seem stressed or rude, kept a smile the whole time, was a lovely experience, I'd go back.
Vegetarian chef salad is legit. Always good service. Much better quality than the chain restaurants. Our family misses the sawdust, but also understand why it's gone.
The food is consistently good. It is hot and delicious! Great chef! Brittany was our waitress, great attitude and efficient. My 13 year old granddaughter won't allow us to to go unless we take her, she loves it so much!
I love the Italian Cottage! We met some friends there for my husband's "last meal" before back surgery! We were talking and taking our time and suddenly realized we were the only customers left! The staff were so nice.
The shrimp and crab lasagne in a white sauce may just well be the best thing I've eaten ages. We didn't waste a drop and used bread to get the last bit of sauce. Did I mention the cocktails? Try the Orange Julius! So sorry I forgot to take pictures.
A friend meet with me here. I had been looking for a good place for Italian food but found none. Then I discovered this. Incredible good food and staff were amazing. I will be back with my husband. You have got to go.
Service was great! The restaurant was nice and cozy. We ordered the valley famous lasagna and Ravioli with spaghetti. The flavor was all there. My only gripe was that the lasagna was not made to order, mind you that it was still tasty and delicious in spite of that. The restaurant seemed maintained well and the temperature of the restaurant was pleasant. I will be back soon.
I love the vibes there. Food is amazing and like just feels like you’re in a private family setting
Excellent combo pizza, service was good with friendly attentive staff and the atmosphere was welcoming for a sit down meal, drinks and good conversation.
Amazing food, excellent service, and great prices! The staff was attentive and made our visit perfect. We’ll definitely be back!
If you're a local then you've been to the Italian cottage. The food is still great. The servers are always polite. I just miss the sawdust on the floors, hence 4 stars on atmosphere. These place is great, low sensory output, dimmed lights, and private seating allows for intimate conversations over a glass of Vino and some pasta. One last hint: try their French dip with pepperjack cheese. You won't be disappointed.
Great vibes great service and great food all around
One of the best Italian restaurants ever! Everything is have ever ordered has been amazing!
Speedy Irene is the best! She has served us multiple times and she is always smiling, happy and fun to talk with. She is awesome at her job! I had the hot pastrami, sauteed onions and pepper jack cheese, excellent as always. Today we both had the spaghetti special with salad and garlic bread. It was very good with lots of flavor.
Italian cottage always delivers a great experience. I've been coming here for as long as I can remember and it has always been great. Good portion sizes and great staff always make this a great option for almost any event. The only thing that I wish was different was the sawdust that used to be on the floor but I'm afraid those days are long gone now. If you haven't been yet I highly recommend that you try them out, you won't be disappointed.
Amazing food and even better service. Our first meal out with our new baby. We were welcomed and treated so well. Everything was perfect, fast, delicious and friendly with a full house. We enjoyed our meal and had staff help holding the door when leaving. Thank you so much it makes a huge difference especially with a new little one. Customer for life can’t wait for our next visit.
The food is excellent, as always! Service is wonderful as well.
What a great place to eat! The food was absolutely delicious, the service was perfect and the prices are right!!! We had Brittany as our waitress and she was very peppy, upbeat, understanding (we had 3 kids, need I say more) and on point with all of our needs. My family will be returning soon, GUARANTEED.
Pleasantly surprised. The ambience reminded me of old time italian restaurants in Little Italy-New York City; as well as your Nona's kitchen (grandma's kitchen). We were greeted and seated with little wait time. Our server was great and menu knowledgeable answering questions we had. They offer specials of the day as well as assorted pizzas, sandwiches, salads, pasta, I did notice some vegan meals. Besides water they also serve espresso coffee, tea (hot/cold), regular coffee, pop, beer, wine, desserts. Lunch was good and friends advised dinner is good but does get crowded. If you're coming for dinner you may want to call ahead to see if reservations are required. I also noticed there is outdoor seating as well as a larger dining room. Very clean restrooms as well. By the way we were told they do serve breakfast until 11:00 a.m. There was a pretty good crowd at lunch but no problem getting a table. If you are in a mood for Italian food get over to this establishment.
We eat here every year, after getting our taxes done. This year was better than ever! Food was perfect! Service was excellent! Five stars!
Great place for brunch. Plenty of seating and not too loud. Large portions and the cottage potatoes are delicious!
Went for a bday party of around 20 people. The waitress was a champ. Didn't wait long for food and it was good. Had a good time. But most of all the bday girl was happy we were all taken care of and happy all together ❤️
Italian cottage is a classic staple here in Chico I had the Linguine with clams and white sauce they had an option for red sauce but I was happy with the choice I made. My finance made the choice to build his own pizza and he had something similar to a meat lovers with added jalapeños . Overall we had a good experience.
5 stars is nowhere NEAR enough to describe my experience here! Not only was the service and atmosphere wonderful, but the food! Oh my gosh. I've had a LOT of Italian food before, even when on vacation in Italy as a kid. The amount of flavor in their dishes begs the question - how is it possible? I've never had anywhere near the amount of flavor at ANY other restaurant, Italian or otherwise. I could tell it had a lot of Italian heart and soul put into it. Each bite was as delicious as the last and when things were all said and done, I left after having one of the greatest, if not THE greatest, meal I've ever had. I absolutely recommend, no doubt about it.
We have been coming here for over 30 years, always stop in when in the area. Stopped for lunch on the way home, traveling with our dog. Very hot day, couldn't leave the dog in the car, we were able to sit outside and eat, our dog loved it. And of course, food was great!! Gotta love the steamed clams!!
Just out boppin around with Linkletter and Hobo John and we find ourselves in Chico! Again! Well, the last time this happened I had an Amazing lunch at the Italian Cottage Restaurant, so as not to tempt the Gods...We'll do it again. The Hobo got a pretty good looking Italian sandwich, and Linkletter asked for a simple ham and jack, and he got it....and it looked fine. So, I asked for a ham and jack, and said "Can you pretend it's my last meal, and I'll need to remember this sandwich for an eternity" Man-O-Man did they pull through! That sando was Amazing! ☆☆☆☆☆
This is the warm and cozy Italian place to eat in Chico. Tables large enough to sit as a big family and cozy booths to sit with a friend for a catch up lunch. The outdoor patio seating is also some of the best in Chico in nice spring days. Sara is one of my favorite faces to see when our family walks in the door. Sara helps get our to-go orders right and always has a contagious smile to accompany her positive attitude. Prices have gone up, like everywhere, but everyone in our extended family has a favorite dish for breakfast, lunch or dinner at Italian Cottage. The waiting room Pac-Man game is great for our young kids and to settle any squabbles. Cheers to this iconic restaurant and its staff.
I got a small pepperoni pizza and the breadsticks with pesto. Both were excellent. Employees are friendly. Prices are very expensive, and I was tempted to give Italian Cottage 4-stars because of the prices. They could also offer a butter alternative like a butter made from olive-oil which would be more inline with Italian cooking. They put a garlic butter on the pesto breadsticks. The breadsticks already have the olive oil from the pesto, so maybe an olive-oil plant-based butter would be better. The garlic flavor is great. I'm suggesting a garlic olive-oil plant-based butter. And as a Sicilian-American, I can say that butter is not really used in Italy or Sicily except on table bread, and maybe as part of some specific dishes like chicken piccata or some other pasta or fish dishes. Maybe I'm wrong. Being Sicilian doesn't make me an expert on Italian food, but an olive-oil plant-based butter would be a nice option.
Seafood food and atmosphere. Our waitress was Britney and did a good job and took care of everyone.

Very impressive restaurant! We went with friends who are familiar with this eatery and it was a great choice. Nice atmosphere and excellent food.

Excellent service, great food and I’m still dreaming about your pickles, peppers and Olive side dish! Can’t wait to visit again
Excellent service, great food and I’m still dreaming about your pickles, peppers and Olive side dish! Can’t wait to visit again
Went there for the first time for weekday lunch. Would have had pasta but only one lunch pasta on menu so had a french dip. It was very tasty, but since french fries were extra did not have any, wish they had been included. For that reason gave 4 stars instead of 5 . Tasty but a little bit pricey for just a sandwich.
This is an old school, kitschy Italian restaurant that hasn't changed much in all the years it has existed, which is exactly why you want to visit. The food is solid fare, service is great and the atmosphere can't be beat.
We've dined here at least 5 times over the last 16 years. Always good, always friendly, always well run. The garlic bread complements every salad, soup, and pasta entre. We always stop here when in Chico.
Great customer service. Nice atmosphere. I have been here a few times. The food is OK but on my last visit I ordered something different and was a little disappointed. Next visit I’ll stick with my regular items. What keeps me coming back is the other half of the visit. She really likes them. Like I said. Great service, nice atmosphere. Maybe it’s just me on the food subject. Definitely give them a try.
I had a wonderful experience.. Great atmosphere.
Food was good. Service was excellent!!! They were super busy during breakfast time when we went, and the waitress that we had came often to check on us and make sure we were good. I'll have to come back for dinner since I've heard even better things about their dinner menu. Very nice decor inside too. Liked the vibe.
Reliably good. With Italian cottage, you know what you're getting every time - reliably good food made the same way every time. Great place for a comfortable meal.
Had the lasagna, very good, needed more sauce in the sauce, too thick, tasty, but thick.
I ordered the linguini and clams and roasted garlic with blue cheese as an appetizer. Both were delicious. I wasn't as impressed with the side order of meatballs. I always like testing out every ones meatballs. Tons of sauce with two small dense balls. I believe they can do better. Set ice was adequate for take out. I broused over their breakfast menu and it looked pretty impressive. U would like to try it someday. I would visit this location again to try other things on the menu.
Nice restaurant. Family Italian menu with a wide variety of choices. We normally get the pastrami sandwich with grilled onions. Food is good service is always excellent. Booths are a little tight but not too bad. Would recommend!
Love coming to Italian Cottage, but didn't get my usual today. Had the Tostada specially, carnitas with just iceberg, ugh, but lots of tomatoes, seasoning. Would have been better with some hand made chips rather than store bought tostada shells. My companions sandwich (the turkey club special) was so-so, she said. Will stick to the hot pastrami or the cannelloni (with light cheese) as per my usual, next time.
Italian Cottage is a Chico staple for Italian food. My parents have been going there since high school and I had my first date with my wife at the one on Skyway 30 years ago. The food is good and is always consistent, you know what you are going to get every time. The staff is always great and attentive. I go there at least every couple of months and I am always satisfied.
Italian cottage is a beautiful restaurant with pretty good service. It can take a bit sometimes to get your food, but for the most part they are worth the wait. I do recommend checking it out if you have a few extra bucks.
Fun, little, "old school" Italian restaurant. The red sauce was really good. Prices were decent. We didn't realize it was all you can eat spaghetti night, so it got really busy.
This was a pretty good meal! I started off with a Moscow mule and cheesy garlic bread. The mule and the bread were good, but that meat sauce I got with the bread was amazing. It was spicy with a little vinegar tang and visible spices, it was so good. I decided to go with the lasagna for dinner. It was okay, very much what you expect from a resturant lasagna. Sauce was still great, but I think I will go with something else next time. I grabbed a side salad to go, and I hope it is good. I do plan to come back at least once more. I ended up paying 35 for the whole dinner. Altogether, I would recommend this place as a friend or family dinner spot.

I don’t recommend to go orders, unless you’re going to check the bag like you do at a fast food restaurant before you leave. I ordered two orders of chili to go with garlic bread on one and toasted French bread on the other and when I got the bag open once I was home there was no bread, so I contacted the restaurant and they told me that they would get A hold of the main office and someone would probably contact me. Yes, probably. Adding to my review, that was yesterday and never heard anything from anyone.
Waited 10 minutes, no drinks, for our waitress, who we saw a total of 3 times. The only reason we got any service was because I got up to find someone to help us. The food came in half the time we waited for initial service. Props to the cooks. The host was more helpful to us than our waitress. I understand that some people have bad days sometimes, but she didn't act like it was a bad day.
Minestrone soup was old. Ive had better from a can. Side salad is interesting with beets, chickpes and kidney beans. A basket of old saltines with soup and salad. Tuscan eggplant was decent, sauce was flavorful. Pasta Kaboom was a lot of pasta, not much chicken, corn, etc. Both dishes are served with their garlic bread made from what they use for sandwiches. I didn't like that. I'm yet to understand why an Italian restaurant doesn't serve a good quality Italian bread with oil/balsamic or butter with the soup and salad.
I haven't dined here at the Italian Cottage for quite a few years. There have been a few changes since then like no more sawdust on the floor and on the menu too, Like now the Cheese and grilled onions are a la carte. Also they used to have a sandwich called the Cottage Reben, that was my favorite. The sandwiches are still hot and tasty as I still remember, and the pastrami was tender with very little grissel.
Went for a lunch date with my grandmother. She ordered the meatball sub but did not like it. Her salad came on an extremely small plate so we had to get her another plate so she could actually stir the salad. I ordered a plain cheese pizza which could have been good if it had been cooked. The dough literally was still dough! Super gross. However the atmosphere and the waitress were fantastic!
Okay not great. The pastrami is popular locally but I thought it was terrible. Tough and loaded with gristle. Spaghetti with meatballs is the best thing I’ve had here.
I had a beef dip sandwich and it was lackluster. I paid about $20 for the sandwich+pepper jack cheese and fries. The bread was tasteless, and hard. All it had was a small bit of beef and two slices of cheese. It came with yellow peppers and a pickle to help and the beef dip was ok in flavor but I was thoroughly disappointed considering the price with how small and cheap it tasted.
I hate to say it but I think y'all are coasting on nostalgia at this point. Mediocre Italian food, mediocre cocktails, friendly service. The classic lasagna is fine and the pizza is just OK. The meatballs are a little bit sweaty tasting. But what really killed my desire to come back was the seafood lasagna. Good grief! It was like....sad seafood(canned crab and baby shrimp) DROWNING in rich cream sauce. It was only edible if we ate it with the pickled peppers from the pickle plate we happened to order separately. Can I recommend that you change some things about this dish? I understand that seafood is expensive and fragile, so perhaps a better approach would be to make a smaller batch of seafood lasagna with good, chunky seafood and only serve it Friday-Sunday. Use half the sauce, add some spice, herbs, and/or lemon zest to the sauce, and serve with a generous wedge of lemon for squeezing over.
Well first of all this has always been a place my family and I have gone to since I was a little kid.. always loved it and used to be so good! Now a days, the food is very cheap tasting and not priced accordingly and the seating and atmosphere is out of date and rickety. I got the linguini with clams and I know for a fact the clams were not fresh and more than likely canned or stored inappropriately.. pasta was overcooked and sauce was wet. Had almost a quarter of it and couldn’t finish and trust me I’m no picky eater lol! Only thing I can think of is that owners have changed and they went to buying cheaper ingredients to sustain an overly priced menu for the food served.
The odd Tom Petty and David Bowie 80's music was blaring. The food was awful. Our dishes were overflowing in sauce and sloppily heaved into a boat with drops on the edges. So much sauce and cheese and hardly any pasta and meat in there. I had meat sauce with no meat. My manicotti was hardly identified. I took 2 bites and gave up I was upset. The whole vibe and food killed my appetite. I called the Manager and he was not there. I left a message with a live employee and he never called me back. This place.went downhill.
The food was very bland and mediocre. It took quite some time to get our food as well but I it was slightly busy so I let that go. The food was not at all what I expected considering the price. My sons order came out wrong also and the waitress didn't.really seem like she wanted to take it back. I wasn't impressed and won't eat here again.
The price hike. They increased items by $3 dollars. Even if it’s good it’s not 20 dollars a plate with tax good. I don’t know what they were thinking. We walked out without buying breakfast this morning at around 10:10am.
So first off I want to say that I am trying to post this review from a place of constructive criticism. It doesn't do the restaurant any good to not know ways they are not doing a good job. The reason I'm giving a two star review is mostly because of an absolutely disgusting seafood lasagna I had there. This was some months ago now. The crab tasted awful, like cat food. I really don't think they should be serving this to people. And if course it is especially disappointing because crab should be a luxury, delicious. I've been to Italian Cottage many times before and at one point might have rated it four stars. The roasted garlic is delicious, and it was fun when they had sawdust on the ground. Over the years most of their food has been kind of "meh" but the idea of the place retained a certain charm. The cowboy/girl cocktails are cute. But after the seafood lasagna debacle, my partner and I have not been back.
Called to make a to go order at 6pm they close at 8pm and was very rudely told no more to go orders and hung up on. Customer service isn’t what it used to be to be. I gave two stars only because this problem is everywhere not just at the Italian cottage. Otherwise being hung up on and rudely spoke to really deserves one star. It’s a business that wants you to buy their product. Being rude for asking to place an order for pick up when your open for two more hrs and hung up on isn’t a good way to sell your product. Long time customer lost.
I moved to Chico about 5 years ago. I loved coming here and the food was delicious. However, this restaurant has gone down hill fast. The prices are ridiculous, and the food isn’t even cooked properly. I had the chicken Parmesan, when I took a bite it was cold. I sent it back, and when I bit into it…it was rock hard and burned. Then I decided to just pay my bill and leave. The manager was told about the poorly cooked food to which she responded “oh you must tell us and we can fix it.” Right? I had already sent it back before. I won’t be going back and encourage you to spend your money elsewhere.
I have been to the Italian cottage two or three times in the last 2 years and every time was a major disappointment. Something must have happened between a year and a half to three years ago they must have laid off a very good employee they must have decided they're going to charge too much. The lasagna is a nice thick layering of cheese on top of liquid, there is no real anything else other than a bowl of thick tomato soup with cheese on the top. If you want Sweet Basil or oregano you better bring your own. And it's missing the large pasta shells it's just got a little bit of sausage mixed in with the liquid for 20-something bucks somebody ought to be taken out and back! Just kidding we'll be civilized about this but still you feel seriously violated. Go buy a $10 lasagna at WinCo get a little bit of extra sausage and extra cheese throw it all together and it'll be five times better than theirs sadly.
I haven't been at Italian cottage in awhile, probably won't be going again. When I use to go, the special breakfast use to be $8+, now it is $15+ and definitely not worth it. You definitely don't get $15+ of food. My daughter said the eggs tasted like rubbery. It was way too expensive for what you get. Definitely not worth it to go to Italian cottage anymore.
Well we are regulars. Love the food. However the kitchen has been really really slow our last two visits. Last Friday(only 5pm) we were just 2 people ordered quickly and waited for an hour. Finally asked about our food. They said the kitchen was backed up. 1 hour 2 plates. Feel bad for waitress who had to deal with it. People all around us were ordering their food togo after an hour. Thats what we did. Took our food and left. Prob just try other places in town. Bill was over $100 still tipped the server well.
The place definitely changed since I last dined there. The waitresses no longer wear traditional Italian clothing and the floors are now bare. They used to be covered in straw. I found out upon seating, that I was an hour too early to pick from most of the menu. I had to choose a breakfast option. The corned beef hash boasted to be house-made on the menu, so I ordered that. It certainly looked like it was from a can. The mush was VERY salty. Though the bread had obviously been toasted, it was barely warm. The butter provided would not spread. After I ordered and received my water and coffee, I went to the restroom. When I returned, it was all gone. My water, coffee, creamers, silverware, everything was gone. Confused, I asked the waitresses what happened and she replied that she had forgotten about me and cleared the table. She took my drink order again and eventually brought me more silverware and napkins. When she returned with new water and coffee, the coffee was burnt. I let her know. She offered me more coffee from the same pot. I politely declined and asked to have it removed from my bill. The waitress was spacey. Flakey. Hard to find when I needed her. She talked with an exaggerated high pitch. I want to say her name was Brittany. I lost my receipt, unfortunately. I was in the restaurant on Monday, November 6th, 2023. After enjoying patronizing this restaurant and it's other location, that is now closed, for many years, I don't think I'll be back. It has changed, and not for the better.

I have always loved this place and ate there regularly when I lived in Chico. I not live on the East Coast but I visit family several times a year and we get together at Italian Cottage. This visit was on 10/26 and 4 of the 5 of us got food poisoning. 4 of us had the pastrami. It's the only common denominator.
There was nothing good about this place. The service was abysmal, I think we saw the server only about twice as she did a walk by. I had gotten a glass of wine she never even asked after I finished it whether I wanted another glass never offered any kind of dessert seem like she couldn't wait to get rid of us. I was really looking forward to chicken parmesan, it was way overcooked, I think they must have cooked it in a deep fryer because it was just hard and dry, not enjoyable at all. First and last time I'm ever eating there.
Finally grew some courge to redeem my entrée gift after I recieved raw chicken on my pasta caboom today. It's been since August or 2021. I got sick from raw chicken I have photos but I'm not that person. They made it right with a gift cert. Well I haven't been able to want to go back but today I did and it was foul. I asked for NO onions! It was full of them. Thank God I ordered meatballs cause the dinner that is 16.95 was absolutely disgusting again thank God Nothing RAW again but it was so gross.
We tried the italian cottage today after going and helping our sister pick out her wedding dress. The food was SUPER greasy me and 1 sister couldnt eat our meals cuz of how much grease was sitting on top of our food. The sauces all tasted like they were straight from a jar. My other sisters philly cheese steak sammy was super soggy..the garlic bread was hard as a rock , it was pretty much oil crust. Didnt taste like garlic and butter. Prices are way to high for the quality of product being served.. Plus the whole place is covered in saw dust on the floor. Deff not a place to go of you have allergies.. We left with saw dust stuck to our clothes... I would never recommend the place to anyone
Waiter offered the other tables straws, ranch, dessert, all the extras but I had to catch the waiter and ask for everything they were being offered. I imagine she thought theyd be big spenders since they ordered alchohol. Water tasted like a dirty sink and was lukewarm being poured from an old piece of pottery. My daughters pasta was mainly sauce and she said it was burning her lips it was so spicy. The waiter told me all the pizza was good. I ordered the white pizza but instantly regretted it once I took a bite. It was worse than frozen pizza, a taste/smell that can be compared to old gym socks. I was on a time constraint so I ate what I could. The waiter grabbed the check without asking if I wanted anything else (which I did). She had to redo the check to add on more. She handed us the check then walked away without saying anything else. I felt a bit judged like she didn't think I'd be a big tipper/spender because it was just me and a child. The couple seated across from us received a much nicer experience, even a super nice goodbye, and lots of upsellng before she closed their check. I had my card ready to go but she made it clear I'd have to walk up to the register because she wasn't going to take it. I just found her to be a bit rude because she assumed I'm a single mom without money. Food is definitely all frozen/canned. Everything came out in less than 5 minutes, which means it was all nuked under a microwave and premade. There were pools of oil all over my pizza, I had to soak it up with napkins. My daughter's spaghetti definitely smelled like a cheap pasta sauce I'd avoid buying even from the store. I really don't understand why people come here. I went years ago to the other location and it wasn't good either. No wonder they're closing locations.
EDIT: We attempted to eat at Italian Cottage last Friday night, again after a walk with the pup, and again were turned away by the host saying they did not have enough staff to cover the patio. I mean, why even have a patio then? Since this is a consistent thing here, we will not be back. Turning customers away in this economy is just baffling. ORIGINAL REVIEW: Italian Cottage is almost always a good choice. Just not on Sundays, because they’re closed! I’ve only ever dined there for lunch, and always on the patio because my dog is my permanent side kick. The service has always been excellent, and the food is tasty and generously portioned. I love their salads and the sautéed primavera veggies. My dining companions have raved about the sandwiches and some of the more classic Italian fare. I do wish that the patio had umbrellas for shade on those warm Chico days, and heaters for the colder evenings ahead. It’s a fantastic outdoor space, but a bit limited by weather extremes. We attempted to eat dinner there a few Wednesdays back after a walk with the pup in Bidwell Park, and we were told they weren’t seating on the patio that night… we went to Pour House instead. So, it’s worth noting that the patio is not always an option. I wanted to try their breakfast at some point, but just recently noticed that the breakfast menu explicitly says “No Substitutions” which doesn’t work for me—I always sub bread/potatoes for fruit for an up-charge elsewhere. Inflexible breakfast aside, I’m sure I’ll be back for lunch sometime soon!
🇺🇸Truly a disgusting excuse to any person, especially an Italian, or those who know Italian flavors. Owner has been getting over on locals for tooooo long... That being said... Worst food I've EVER had (& will be yours too) Stay clear
I wanted to try this restaurant for a while, and went there for food on my lunch break. Online says they are open but restaurant was closed when I walked up. Won't be coming here again, felt like a waste of time.
First time here, the food was so bland. It was crazy that our whole party felt the food to be very tasteless. The people that work here however are very sweet. Would just not do it again. Popular amongst elderly which I guess it's because of how bland it is. Also for the price, you do not get starter or anything like many places do (soup or salad) with dinner which I found odd for the price.
