Perfect spot for our group of 8 after a concert at Viejas! Tortas, tostadas, tacos… the complementary chocoflan—everything hit the spot! What a perfect ending to a great night. Patty made us feel like family! Can’t wait to come back and bring our kids. Sorry no taco pics!! lol

Excellent food and service. Open until 4am on weekends and 2am during the week. Taqueria El Prieto is a great place to stop after a late night on the town.

taqueriabyelprieto is an authentic Mexican spot serving a wide variety of tacos, mainly with meat or chicken. I loved how juicy and flavorful the tacos were—full with quality ingredients. We also tried their famous Papa Loca Adobada, and it was incredibly rich and delicious. They have a great Taco Tuesday offer all day long from 4pm to 1am Adobada taco only. Highly recommend! 👍

Incredible tacos and fun atmosphere. The birria so juicy and flavorful. The adobada sweet and tangy, the carnitas were super tender too. I’m no taco expert but the fine people at Taqueria by El Prieto know what they’re doing and they’re doing it WELL. Can’t wait for an excuse to come back!

Came here for dinner on Saturday night, it wasn’t packed. Ordered one vampiro de asada, three tacos (carnitas, buche and pollo). Highly recommend the chicken/pollo, it was juicy and flavorful. Vampiro de asada, fire. Buche and carnitas were really good too! Also, salsa bar available with limes, cucumber, radishes, etc.

TikTok led me to this one lol, food was good, inside is very accommodating and plenty of seating, there is also seating outside. If it’s your first time here it may be confusing knowing where to order your food, there is a bunch of signs that say order here but there’s a system in place, if you want adobada tacos then you go to the gentleman cutting the trompo of meat, if you want asada then you step over to the side where another person is dishing out asada. Was standing for a minute before I realized how things worked. Ordered the papa loca mixta which was really good and also the fries mixta and it wasn’t bad now it was $20 bucks for the fries mixta, not sure if that os the normal rate now in SD for asada fried but if it was wish it was super loaded. Definitely no complaints on the papa loca mixta as it was loaded and overflowing with meat that was definitely a 10/10. Try it out and see what you think

I wanted to try this place because of their papa loca( baked potato with meat) they have some negative reviews saying customer service is not good, I disagree with those statements. Personally, the taqueros were very attentive and quick, the girls at the cash register were also attentive... the tacos were delicious, carne asada and adobada are my favorite, the papa loca was with adobada, it's a good size. Prices are comparable to other taco spots in the area but totally worth it

Just checked out this place with my family. The carnitas mulita was probably the best thing we ordered, but the taco de adobada was also great. The carne asada quesadilla for my toddlers was a hit, which is hard to do. Service was friendly and excellent, atmosphere was what you'd reasonably expect from a taqueria and was very clean.

My asada fries were great. My beef brisket not so good. Overall i would try this place again.

Just checked out this place with my family. The carnitas mulita was probably the best thing we ordered, but the taco de adobada was also great. The carne asada quesadilla for my toddlers was a hit, which is hard to do. Service was friendly and excellent, atmosphere was what you'd reasonably expect from a taqueria and was very clean.

Seems to be family-run. Great service. Clean. Aaaahhh.... but the adobada was sooooooo disappointing. The marinade is so heavy, overwhelming and salty. You can't really enjoy the flavor of the meat. The quesadilla was very good. Very cheesy.

Im so sad to give this place a low rating review… I loved the place! The service was so good! But the food gave me the worst runs and pain, I never get sick so it had to be something bad to make me hurt like that. Everyone working there was very very nice, I loved the selection, they have really nice salsas and toppings! Also the tacos were so good, so it pains me that I got sick. I am not so sure if I would go back and give them another chance because I’m too scared :( maybe in a few months.

There was a long line for adobada but the guy making the tacos was not being attentive, he was in his own world attending other orders. All he had to do is say, “next person, what can I get for you” but nah he waited for you to go up to him and get his attention.

Of course I found out after I bit into it and after I got to my destination. I ate it anyway because what an inconvenience to return and ask for them to fix my order, I live 3 miles away. I took the time to write this review so that anyone with intentions to order to-go or through the drive-thru can double check your order before leaving the premises. It’s just annoying to have to baby sit a business to see if you got it right. I want to order and not have to worry about the accuracy of my order, it should be done correctly the first time. Didn’t get to try the adobada, not a great first impression.
