Opinions de Kazama Sushi Claremont
My friend invited me to meet up for lunch! I chose Kazama because I’ve been craving sashimi I ordered a small sashimi plate for myself and it was so good! The slices were thick and fresh! They gave a generous amount of shaved radish as a bed for sashimi I cleaned up the whole plate in minute and forgot to take a picture Lol We were both happy with our meals! We will go back for sure!
A++ for the customer service at this sweet sushi restaurant. I had a lovely dinner and upon leaving my date left his keys behind and the server came running after us to make sure he got his keys back! The food was delicious! With the type of service we received and good food, I recommend this place.
Marley, our server, was a delight, very relatable, and reading-our-minds efficient! The sushi came in generous beautiful portions. We were quite satisfied. Our tea cups got refilled frequently which is a huge plus in my book :-) Thanks, Marley, and Kazama!
I've been going here for years and this place does not disappoint! The food is fresh and prepared perfectly. The restaurant is small and offers outdoor seating with fire pits. The service is great and the food is amazing. I ordered the firecracker wontons, baked yellowtail collar and cucumber crab salad, all my favorite dishes. Parking isn't too convenient but not that bad. I would definitely recommend this place, the freshness and quality of food is excellent.
It is nice restaurant, located in downtown area of Claremont! I have been here several times, after leaving my job, to grab dinner! The meals, that I would order, were quite delicious. In addition, they have a wide selection of meals, to choose from. Nevertheless, some meals were on the expensive side. Still, those prices were worth it. In addition, I would not recommend to dine out on Fridays, since it would usually get busy. I would recommend to come by on regular weekday such as Wednesday or Thursday. The staff, during my visits, was helpful, friendly, and polite. Definitely, it is one of my favorite establishments, in downtown area of Claremont!
To katie was fantastic, and House Special was amazing. Too bad I don't live locally...
Been here 2 times now and it's really good. I personally like Nigiri which is the fish on top of the rice. Really attentive service. The staff is super polite and awesome. The food is amazing. Get the toro (fatty tuna) it's worth every penny as it melts in your mouth. The fish were all fresh and didn't taste all fishy. My girlfriend got the Vegan Creamy Ramen. She said it was really good as well. Definitely a great spot to check out if you are in that area and if you love sushi as much as I do.
Hands down the best sushi in the area! Been coming here for the last few years. Sushi is always loaded, fresh, and delicious! Service is super fast and everyone is always very friendly! Highly recommend!!
Large menu with lots of good Korean and Japanese options. Portions are large and ramen was excellent. Highly recommend for anyone in the area looking for great food.
We were visiting from out of town and stumbled upon this restaurant! The quality of the fish was really nice. All of the rolls tasted really good. My only feedback is that it was a little bit too much rice for us so we ended up removing a lot of it and push it to the side honestly though one roll each would’ve been perfect. We got three. We’re definitely come back.
We’ve walked by so many times over the years and there was always a line to wait in. Finally decided to give it a shot last Saturday afternoon and what a great experience it was. The sushi and food were all so delicious and fresh. They were busy but still attentive. We dined with my 3 1/2-year-old son with so much energy, and there was one woman server who took the time to talk and play with him whenever she would walk by. If any mother knows what it’s like to eat at a restaurant with a toddler and knows how stressful it can be, this small gesture just melted my heart. Can’t wait to return next time we are in town.
The food here is absolutely delicious! The staff was incredibly knowledgeable about the menu and offered excellent recommendations. Truly great service!” I am happy I found this spot! Overall, dining at this restaurant was a delight from start to finish
I don't know what any of the negative reviews are complaining about! The prices are absolutely reasonable, the service was top notch and the food was fantastic. I'm always on the search for fresh sushi that my Dad (native Japanese) will appreciate and I'll definitely be taking him here. Thanks for a great meal Kazama!
Tried out this place and was very happy with it. Great food, the best blue fin and belly tuna that was worth market price ! The rolls were amazing and overall this place was awesome. All the fish tasted fresh and with no bad stuff at all to say about it. Cool options to eat inside or out back in the patio area, very chill vibes to it.
I had the salmon teriyaki and it was so delicious. They serve it with salad and a soup and it is definitely enough for 2 people
What a wonderful place to spend a Saturday night in Claremont! I’ve been to Kazama Sushi many times already and tonight was the best. The food is always great and the owner was genuinely friendly to all customers. Would recommend this place to anyone who likes sushi!
This restaurant was very amazing. The food was very good and the atmosphere was good too, and the the employees all were kind. All of those make me very happy. The price is very resonable. 👍👍 god bless you!
Had to come here 2x the next day coz ther sushi is 🔥. Sushi quality is A+ fresh and melts in your mouth almost as good as sushi in Japan and their pricing is pretty fair for the quality. I ordered 20 piece sashimi medium for around 40bucks and a dragon rolls and tummy is very satisfied. This is now in my favorite list of sushi spot to go to.

Super nice atmosphere and rolls are incredibly delicious! The Green Lemonada tea and ice cream were amazing!

Favorite sushi restaurant. Service is always great, the food is fantastic, always a 5 star experience.
I LOVE this restaurant. One of my faves in Claremont. I’ve really enjoyed the side salads and miso soups, and have always loved the Chicken Katsu meal. I was there for my friends birthday and they even gave us a small free dessert. I think the outdoor seating is lacking only because there is often live music at night and the music makes it pretty hard to hear. I think the prices are higher but the food is worth it!
The sushi here at this place as well as the service are both on point! We will definitely be visiting again soon and hopefully this time we can indulge in a couple of oyster shooters too. Thank you Kazama Team for a wonderful evening!
My new favorite sushi place. I found it a month ago by accident looking for a place to eat sushi after going to Claremont loop for a hike with my son. We both absolutely love it and have gone back many times since with my daughter and other friends and they have all loved it also. Its so fresh visuallly stunning food and absolutely tasty.

This is a traditional and fusion Japanese restaurant. They even sell ramen and udon to make the menu quite full. I tried the Shirshi bowl. Presentation was a bit odd as they used a casserole bowl but they used large sashimi slices of fish and portion was big. I think most patrons order those fusion rolls as they look creative and poured over with sauces. In general the restaurant is okay for this area. There is a back entrance that faces the movie theatre courtyard.
Nice little sushi place. Nice and cozy. The owner is really sweet and welcoming. Makes you feel comfortable and warm. The food is good as well, fresh sushi. If it's full, you might have to wait a bit, but it's worth it. Good variety awaits you. Stop by, and feel the warm greetings from the staff. You will enjoy it.
Got the 14 pc sashimi, it was delicious! The fish was so tender and fresh. Our server was really nice but the busser was bad. We didn't get plates at all, and my husband had to steal a bottle of soy sauce because ours was empty and we couldn't find him to ask for either of those things. Maybe he was covering the inside and outside, I don't know. Small issues, ultimately, otherwise a nice small restaurant with good food!
Looks like this is a popular place. I gather that's because of the friendly service and quality and quantity of the food. The fishes are big in either sushi or sashimi form. Quite good quality also -- lower quality fish would taste "fishy". But, not here. Price seems reasonable also. We ordered the Delux Boat -- very good value... at $100. While it's good, not quite 5 stars because the special "sashimi roll" was not as good as advertised. Our fault for ordering but perhaps such should not be on the menu?
As always Kazama Shushi is always great. Service is quick and courteous. Everytime I ask for something it's promptly acknowledged. When I ask for extra Ginger I get plenty. I suggest Dine in: Since it seems that you get more for your $$ by doing this. I love the service and the food. I just wish you would add baked scallops.
Rolls were very tasty. We liked the sake bombs. Shun roll was my favorite.
Just keep it simple, and it'll not disappoint you. They offer a huge menu (impossible to go through it in one day), but If you choose the simple plates you'll find tasteful, delicious dishes. One for all : the chef's choice of nigiri. Terrific! Simple, yet amazing. No sauces, cooked and raw fish, one nigiri per fish type, every time different types. The staff is kind, it's nice watching the cooks sitting at the counter. Prices are very fair. Absolutely recommended.
When we arrived, all the tables were taken, so we ended up sitting at the bar. The waiter was very attentive throughout our meal. We started with oysters and the dynamite appetizer. While the oysters could have been served a bit colder compared to other places I’ve tried, the dynamite appetizer was outstanding—I’ll definitely be ordering it again. For the main dishes, we had the popcorn lobster roll and the dinner sushi combo platter. Both were delicious and satisfying. The staff was great about keeping our water glasses full, and their overall attentiveness added to the experience. I’ll definitely be back, especially for that dynamite appetizer!
This place was pretty decent! This was my first time visiting and I definitely give it a strong 4.5 stars and highly recommend fried chicken Gyoza the dynamite role, the surf and turf roll, and the spicy baked salmon roll. This place is kind of pricey however it’s offset by the really large portion sizes. We went on a Saturday evening and it was quite busy however the service was still acceptable. I also got free ice cream by leaving this Google review.
Service and atmosphere is pretty good. Parking is a little bit problematic thou. Tonkatsu ramen is on the subtle side, more comfortable when you just want not as strong flavor ramen. The chirashi bowl is amazing! It uses premium sashimi cuts (with a premium price thou) Firecrackers is good and the portion is comparable to a serving of roll. The Kazama special roll (something cilantro, I forgot the name) tasted pretty interesting. If I closed my eyes and eat it without looking at it, it is delicious.

Very creative sushi rolls that were very tasty. My favorite was the old town roll. Biggest down side was the service. Couldn't get an answer from my waitress about happy hour, let alone what was included in happy hour. Small stuff written on dry erase boards about daily specials that were impossible to read. Food runner brought us a roll and had no idea which one it was. It's a bit pricey, but the food was quite good. I might go back sometime, but I might not.

We went to Kazama Sushi to celebrate my son's birthday and were disappointed, mainly due to the price. We ordered a few dishes, as you can see in the receipt photo, and my experience was disappointing for the price we paid. Let's talk about the ramen: this was the most disappointing dish. Although the menu suggested several types of seafood, what we received was a watery bowl with only two shrimp and a few pieces of squid. There was no trace of the variety we had hoped for. It felt more like noodles in broth than a hearty seafood ramen. Keep in mind that I eat ramen at different restaurants at least twice a month. This isn't a competitive place; don't order ramen here. For the price we paid, it would have covered a more generous and memorable meal at a well-known sushi restaurant in Las Vegas (a city known for its luxury prices). This speaks volumes about the place's value proposition. The atmosphere is pleasant, and the presence of expert sushi chefs adds a touch of authenticity. However, for a birthday celebration, the service felt impersonal. I told the staff we were celebrating a birthday, and while I didn't expect anything free, a small touch (like dessert or recognition) would have made the occasion more special. Other places we've visited have done this, even for a fee. • Ramen quality: Poor, lacking the expected protein. • Price: Expensive for the quantity received. • Service: Friendly, but not personalized or festive for celebrations. • Value for money: Low, especially compared to better experiences in more expensive cities. This was a $196 with tips for tree people. Kazama Sushi might be a good place for a casual sushi roll with a small group, but I wouldn't recommend it for special occasions. For the price, there are better options nearby or even in more expensive cities. BTW the photos that you see is the food the we order except the two entries.
