Opinions de Flying Fish Coppell
holy moly. absolutely amazing experience tonight, food was amazing, lady at the cash register was incredibly nice. Food tasted as good as the locations in arkansas I used to visit, if not better. Please go spend your money here.
The three of us went to Flying Fish near Coppell on Sunday evening. We ordered the whole tilapia, snapper Veracruz, shrimp kabob, and ceviche. They were all very good! 👍😋 If there’s anything that we’ll change next time, we’ll ask for rice & beans to go with the tilapia (like on the snapper) because it’s more yummy than just rice. And maybe we’ll come earlier so we can get the patio seating 😊
You can sit inside or on the pier. Nice environment and good food.
To the gentleman working the cash register that asked me where I got my green pants, I got them from wawwa clothing based in London. He complimented them and asked where I got them. I responded vaguely saying “I got them online”. After a reflection with my girlfriend, I must let him know one way or another. Anyways, it was Good Friday when I went with my girlfriend. Tons of items on the menu, but we decided on a fried basket combo that came with 2 catfish fillets and 4 butterfly shrimp plus fries and a couple of hushpuppies. We also ordered the fried basket with the red fish. I am a sucker for tabasco and tartar sauce. Throw in fried seafood and I am sold. Food was as great as the service, which was very good. They done well on the classic fried fish basket. Bonus points for the location, go on a stroll around the lake to walk off the calories.
The food was great. Large portions and quick service. Love the atmosphere, too. I'm visiting from out of town and glad I stopped. The red fish was excellent.
My wife and I switched to a Ketogenic diet in August 2020. The pandemic allowed us to be very careful in our food choices. In the months to follow, I researched restaurants which would be capable of satisfying those on Keto and Flying Fish was one of the first I found. Having been fully vaccinated, my wife and I made a visit to the Flying Fish on Wharf Road (Cypruss Waters) and were completely satisfied. The seafood was fresh, deliciously prepared. My wife had grilled snapper (snappy) and extra grilled veggies (no rice & beans). I had the protein platter with grilled snapper (extra snappy), dozen oysters, and grilled veggies. We also had a dozen boiled shrimp. The oysters...the best I have ever tasted. Having lived on the Texas Coast, I am very familiar with oysters, particularly the ones that need a bit more Tabasco or cocktail/horseradish to consume. My wife even ate three for the first time ever and was surprised by how enjoyable they were. I figure the oysters are farmed, but I am ok with that. It was such a nice surprise tasting the freshness. The snapper was well-prepared. I like lots of seasoning and had my fish prepared extra-snappy. I think next time I will order the fish snappy because my wife's filet looked even better than mine. The dozen boiled shrimp were perfectly prepared and served on a bed of ice with cocktail sauce. The patio is on the east side of the building facing the lake, so it will always be in the shade in the late afternoon. Outside seating is wonderful and relaxing. Before you go to Flying Fish, go to their website and sign up for their club in order to receive email coupons. A parking garage (free) is nearby along with street parking. We are looking forward to our next visit. Go there today!
Enjoyed the fried catfish and fries. Food was hot, fresh and tasted great. Nice patio area with view of the ducks, turtles and fish in the lake.
Loved the Caddo plate, amazing, very filling. I enjoyed the atmosphere and the outdoor eating area. Love the fact that there is a machine to get food for the fish and turtles outside 😍
Love the variety of seafood dishes here. Keep in mind they serve it the Southern style. My husband & I tried the Snapper Veracruz, & it’s definitely a great dish to share. (Seriously, the portion was HUGE! I guess go big or go home in Texas lol) Nonetheless, we had a great time. If it wasn’t so hot out, we would’ve eaten lunch by the lake.
Great location and outdoor waterfront seating. Food is great. The red snapper veracruz is tasty. Also had the grilled grouper sandwich. It was delicious. The crawfish chowder is just right. Oysters are decent. The calamari rings are on the smaller side. Servers are attentive and welcoming. Great monthly coupon deals too!
Freaking amazing! Crab & shrimp cooked perfectly. Seasoning really soaked in. I ordered shrimp/crab plate & we also ordered shrimp jambalaya - excellent. Large portions. Will be back! View/atmosphere/music great
For us being in DFW and having no waterside restaurants this being a sea food spot and it's by a man made lake (I know we gotta work with what we got ok) it really makes you feel like you're eating at a restaurant on the beach you even get a few seagulls every so often
My friends recommended this place as somewhere for us to go on a casual Sunday… The weather was perfect so I really enjoyed dining outside… Now while I typically eat as a vegetarian, but I was not going to pass up the opportunity to have some catfish! The calamari and catfish were great… I can be a little critical because I’m from Louisiana and we know how to season catfish. That could use some work, but overall the experience was awesome! My friends didn’t particularly like the fact that they had to go inside to order their food… It would help the experience if they did have servers on staff (take my order while seated) but that wasn’t that big of a deal to me to reduce their rating.
First time here! Let me just share my wonderful experience. Tina!!! I loved her demeanor, presentation, knowledge, and most importantly, that bright personality! Flying Fish definitely has the BEST employee there, hands down! Visiting all the way from Hawaii and my cousin and his wife took me to Flying Fish. I've never heard of it. Walked in, so many options. Narrowed it down to the new Lobster rolls! Delicious! Fried okras! Yummy! I approached the counter, and Tina asked me what I was undecided about. As soon as I said lobster rolls, she said, "Get it! It's goooood!" I at first said that and minus the fries and coleslaw, and my cousin said,"Skip that, he'll get it as is with the okras on the side." I was trying to be a little complicating, and Tina just burst out her fun self and just made my first experience already a memorable one. Food came out, it was delicious! The view was beautiful and the location is definitely in a nice part of town. Overall, I'd come back here just to visit Tina! We had to get a pic with you! If you see her, tell her I said, "Aloha!" Tina, much mahalos (thank-you) for making my first visit perfect and memorable! Next time I'm in town, imma come see you!!! Flying Fish better give you a raise! Definitely one of a kind! 😉🤙🏽
We went on a Wednesday and they had all-you-can-eat catfish for 17.99. It included fries, a few hushpuppies, and 4 large fillets. When you are ready for more, just go to the register. You can choose how many additional fillets you want. They have a nice menu full of choices from seafood to burgers. Drinks are self-serve. They offer beer and some liquor (margaritas). We also ordered dessert. I was happy the bread pudding wasn't made with raisins! I believe it had small pieces of apple..
July 6: My wife was looking for the best in Fish near us and the car drove itself. We were willing passengers. Bottomline, excellent fast service at a good value. Plus the stunning views over the rail make this our new favorite for Seafood Sunday! Earlier post: This is quickly becoming a monthly visit for us!
Recently, I had the pleasure of dining at the Flying Fish Restaurant, and it was an experience I can't wait to repeat. From the moment I walked in, the ambiance was welcoming and warm, setting the stage for what turned out to be an exceptional meal. I opted for the Rainbow Trout Plate, and it was nothing short of spectacular.
Ray loves seafood. Me not so much. Checked the menu and saw chicken and hamburgers. Quit the menu for Seafood lover. Took Ray for lunch. He had a Mahi sandwich with garlic butter and onion rings. I got a cheeseburger and fries. Everything was delightful. The staff were exceptional.
Cypress springs location for Flying fish is awesome. The outdoor dining overlooking the lake is amazing The red snapper and grilled veggies were delicious. Salmon salad very generous Very friendly greeting by Syrena 😀 We have been to the Dallas and Arlington locations. This one is our favorite so far
The staff was amazingly helpful and polite! We've been to three Flying Fishes now, and they all have their own unique vibe. While not as old-school as the Ft. Worth location, the food was still great. A couple dozen more Billy Bass, and it would be getting better 🎣
Went here Wednesday, January 7, 2026, at 12:30 p.m. The lobster (langostino) rolls had perfect bread, with buttered flat sides, and plenty of lobster. The fries and cold slaw with it were good, all for $20. We also had the jumbalaya over rice topped with fried catfish. This was fine, but not a "wow." I would prefer a darker roux and more andouille sausage. The catfish over it was ok, but a little thin and breaded, and next time I'd get it with shrimp instead. We sat outside and loved it. The umpbrella tops can be tilted to keep the sun away. Ordering was easy. Would love to go back.
Soooooooo good! My husband and I frequent the FW location, and been to Arlington location once. So when we found out about Coppell location (closer to us), we knew we needed to go. We had the grilled salmon (traditional) plate, side of hushpuppies, lobster roll with fries and everything was insanely good! This location turned out to be our favorite, no doubt. The employee that took our order was cool and helpful to everyone. We definitely enjoyed our lunch visit. We'll be back! YUMMO
Took my Mom & husband for a late lunch. We had the fried catfish, fried shrimp & catfish and the lobster (langostino) rolls. Catfish & shrimp had a seasoned cornmeal batter, not greasy. Taste was great and portions were a nice size, baskets came with fries and hushpuppies. The langostino rolls were good though not actual lobster. My husband thought they were very good and liked that he had two rolls, mayo was not over powering, lots of langostino. The food came out piping hot. We sat inside and had a nice view to the outside. We came mid-afternoon so not crowded. Service was great, you place order at the counter. They have alot of choices and saw oysters for 1.50 from 2 to 7. Will have to go back and try other items to see if they are as good as what we had today.
Great food and fun ambiance! I love the Flying Fish - especially this location. It’s right on the water, which provides nice views and atmosphere. Some things I’ve had that are absolutely delicious are: the red snapper (snappy style!) with the red beans & rice and the zucchini/squash medley, the lobster bisque, the ceviche, the po’boys, and the lobster rolls (DELICIOUS!!). The Tito’s frozen lemonade is good too! The staff at this location are nice and fun too - we love coming here! I highly recommend…and definitely sit outside!!
Food was really good. Fried Catfish, fried shrimp, hush puppies, jambalaya was very good. Crawfish was tasty. The alligator queso was really really good! This is my 2nd time at this location and I don’t have any complaints. The outdoor seating is beautiful and plenty of space inside to sit. Service was good as well. I’ll be back soon because the catfish was on point!
Food was absolutely delicious, everything from the flavor seasonings, spices were perfect and portion size for snow crab could of been slightly better but will definitely be back. Margaritas were awesome,it was pretty busy on Sunday when we went however their service was fast and food was fresh! The place was clean and well maintained. The staff were very sweet and worked well with one another. I had a slight mishap towards the end of dinner I stepped away from my table for a quick sec and the guy cleaning tables threw my food and drink in the trash. The staff quickly remade my drink and food to go with no hesitation. Overall great little spot on the water with great views.
Food is always good. But they could put effort in cleaning the bird dropping on the outside seating. I came shortly after opening and the tables were covered. The whole point of this location is the lake view.
Lots of seafood option within a price range. Amazing location (the sound). Customer service could be better but one of the best seafood you may get in DFW. From shrimp to fish, single meal or for a family, this is a place to go and then walk at the sound ! Such a hidden gem in DFW area
We love this place and their customer VIP program is excellent! The food is always on point. The fried pickles are a bit salty for me but everyone else loves them.
Loved the portion size and the service was spectacular. Everyone was nice. The scenery was awesome. The reason for 4 stars instead of 5, is the fish (catfish) was fried soft and lacked seasoning. I had to tell them to fry my next batch hard. I had to use lots of hot sauce to give it flavor. They need to season their food better.
The view from the patio facing the lake added a great experience to the already good food. Shrimp taco, grilled snappy rainbow trout, fried catfish and shrimp were all good. It didn’t feel 95F outside on the patio in the shade but it was warm (80F). Highly recommended.
Stopped by for an early dinner. The food was amazing - hot and well seasoned. The service was okay. The guy taking the order answered my questions. The lady giving the food did not provide any interaction besides pushing the tray across the counter. A smile, "you're welcome" response to my thank you, or condiments are available to your right would elevate the experience.
I'm a bit bias because I wasn't hungry when I came , so it was either that or just not used to these type of flavorings but food was so so. It's a bit pricy but it's a nice restaurant and I would not hesitate to come back again and try a new dish. My husband loved the food though and he though pricing was good.
Fries were not fresh and not warm. Catfish was in my opinion, not the best. I’ve had better fish and chips. BUT BOY was the Caddo the best dish. Sauce was great! Yummy, and fresh. I’ll be coming back just for the Caddo, I’ll try other things in the menu but fish and chips didn’t tickle my fancy.
Really nice place with good atmosphere. Had the grouper and it was cooked really well with their "snappy" seasoning. Accompanying grilled vegetables and red beans and rice was also good. The fried pickles were incredibly oily though. The oil was.also very very dark, which usually indicates it's a little old. This was Friday at lunch time, so I hope they fixed it before dinner crowd and weekend. Was really clean and well kept.
Nothing that really blew me away, but every aspect of it was nice. Good look, good vibe, could smell, good food. The tartar sauce doesn't have a lot of citrus in it but the vegetables seem to have been marinated in it, so that was an interesting tradeoff / balance. We had the grilled spicy rainbow trout, and that was good. The catfish basket I liked a little more. The fries in the catfish basket were good, the hush puppies too. The rice with the two kinds of beans that was under the trout plate was probably my favorite side. For only a buck and a quarter more I was able to get a blood and honey long neck instead of a fountain drink, so cheers to that. Our 21 month old had a blast, ate well, and was thoroughly entertained when he finally noticed the ducks underneath us in the water. After the meal the sun was setting and when I went back in to wash my hands I was like holy heck it was cold inside. I'm very glad it wasn't like that when we were ordering! We will definitely be back. This is an awesome, economical little date night on the water.
First time and definitely won’t be the last! When you walk in, you can already feel the quirkiness of this place. The decor is perfect for a place like this! Cajun, southern cooking! We got gator nuggets, fried whole tilapia, and grilled red snapper plate. Everything were well seasoned and tasty! 3 items and 2 drinks, our bill came out to be $60~, not bad! The service can be a bit better, I felt rushed when we ordered. It was loud in there so the cashier didn’t hear everything I ordered so it ended up missing from the ticket, which we didn’t want to get back in line for. We enjoyed their outside patio in the back facing the water. Nice atmosphere!
Great location with friendly staff. We ordered the calamari (seasoned well with a nice crunch) combo with fish and shrimp (fish was flavorful and crispy but the shrimp had a “fishy taste”. Also didn’t realize until we left that my hush puppies were missing) The Caddo (very flavorful! If you don’t like things saucy this isn’t the dish for you). There are many locations so we will definitely be checking them out again.
Great fun place. You definitely want to stay and sit on the deck. The little lake there provides a beautiful sunset and great views. The catfish was good, but not great. They are more expensive than the other places we’ve tried for catfish. You are definitely paying for the location. The serving size on my fish was tiny. The shrimp was good. Coleslaw good; red beans and rice good. Banana pudding was not like mama used to make—it doesn’t need that whipped topping on it. The green beans had some excellent seasonings.
Been a customer over 10 years. Couple of things that I hope they will pay attention to. The kitchen is visible, so the floors can't be dirty. The cooks are visible so they must wear immaculate uniforms and be clean shaven. That wasn't the case yesterday. Lastly, the tables were not getting cleaned thoroughly between customers. Such a great atmosphere and decor.! I hope management can make it look more sanitary and appetizing.
Went to Louisiana a couple months ago, who knew I could get the same comfort food 5 minutes from my house as well? Great location, great ambiance, great service, great food. Cajun platter was a solid 8/10, and the bread pudding was the best I've ever had. 10/10. Update: Went back and I unfortunately had to drop my review from a 4 to a 3 star. The seafood was unfortunately very salty and made me sick after. Will unfortunately not be returning.
The view from the patio is great. The food is pretty good. Nice portions. The services is non-existent. No servers. You get your drink, you have a buzzer for your food that you get from the counter. If I'd have know this I wouldn't have tipped when I payed for the meal. I don't tip at Whataburger, why would I tip here?
Mediocre at best. The only real redeeming quality was the friendly service. I ordered a fried combo plate and shrimp tacos plate. Everything fried has the same seasoning, batter, and bland flavor. The shrimp tacos have tiny shrimp smothered in sauce in a hard taco shell. My favorite part of the shrimp taco plate was the cup of red beans and rice. It does have a decent view of the lake though so it could be a good spot for a patio beer. Overall, it was very underwhelming.
I just got my order from doordash as a new customer and here are my ratings for everything I got: Catfish: 5 It had absolutely no flavor at all. Fried shrimp: 5 Again, no flavor at all in the breading. Totally bland. Also, the cocktail sauce they gave me was the consistency of jello. Ick. Fried pickles: 7 They were fine in flavor, but super greasy. Too greasy. Hushpuppies: 5 Again, no flavor. Onion rings: 4 These tasted very odd. Not sure if it was the breading or the oil they fried it in, but they were not good in terms of taste. Lobster stew: 3 I didn't understand this item. It was just a ton of chopped up celery and carrot in a seafood broth with 2 little bits of lobster. No flavor. No reason for the ingredients. They need to redo this recipe. Crawfish chowder: 10 Absolutely excellent. Full of flavor. Nice Ingredients. It is exactly what I was looking for from a place like this. All the other items were trash in comparison to this. In all, this place was bland. I was very surprised at the lack of flavor. The chowder was excellent, but the rest was sub par. Unsure if I would ever go back. Highly recommend they look into the flavor of their items and boost it up a few notches.
We came for a nice waterfront outside dinner. The food was good. They lack kids options for kids who eat more than 2 shrimp but the lady was nice enough to give us their cute boats to put his big meal in so he could be like his brother. The ambiance would have been great on the patio but we had to move away from the front bc a group of boys were fishing. One swung his hook near my kid. They were running up and down the side and back and forth to the shore. It definitely made it feel less inviting. I wish the employees would enforce the no fishing sign.
We decided to take Buddy out for lunch today by the water so he could watch the birds, so we chose the Flying Fish in Coppell. First time eating here. Everything on the menu looked tempting. Taylor decided on the fried catfish with fries and hush puppies. I picked the grilled tilapia with grilled zucchini and squash and hush puppies. Taylor also picked the fried pickles. Taylor and Buddy ate everything that they picked and loved it. I took mine back after just one bite. Not sure what was unpleasant about the fish, but I just couldn't eat it. The hush puppies were also very heavy with grease. I took it back and they made me something else from the menu. Maybe it's because I just haven't eaten a lot of fried foods for years now, so the oil/grease was just not pleasant. I have a feeling we won't be eating here again any time soon. The employees were great and so was the atmosphere.
Ate here twice. First time I ate in and the second time was takeout. Food is okay... fish batter can use some seasoning and fries literally have no flavor to them. Using sauces is a must because of the lack of seasoning Second time around, my Husband wanted to try it again.... and the takeout order was not what we asked for... We went back and showed the receipt.... by that time the fries were cold and they just added the extra fish that was missing and sent us on our way... Customer service definitely needs improvement and food needs some seasoning.
The food wasn’t good at all; none of finished our meals… caused bad it was… I had such high hopes for this place but not good food and the service was eh…. Several times had to ask for napkins or extra plates.
The lady at the register was on her phone the entire time I was ordering. Rude! The food was okay, my rice and beans were cold. My order was also wrong. I ordered a basket of fried fish and fried oysters, but instead I got a basket of fried fish and a basket of fried shrimp. The size of the fish was small compared to earlier years.
Place looks great, a true adventure. Asked what whole fish were available grilled, he said tilapia, I ordered it and verified 3 times it is grilled, he assured me it was. 10 minutes later he comes to my table and says sorry its fried. Manager seemed unconcerned and was not empathetic to the error or my time.
