Beautiful place to have brunch and sit and enjoy the sun. This place is inside Sherman Library and Gardens and has the most scrumptious chive biscuits. These are a must have and they come out fresh and warm. As for mains, the steak with chimichurri is delicious, but I definitely prefer the lamb shank! Pair those two with some drinks and a fantastic meal is what awaits.
I’m a big garden fan, and I made the reservation for a casual Sunday brunch because of the location and atmosphere, little did I know the food totally outshine the beautiful setting. We were a bit late to our reservation and ended up waiting for quite some time to get our table, but the hostess gave us the best table (in my opinion) in the restaurant, definitely loved where we seat to begin with. The drinks are all very unique and full of garden characters. I wish I could’ve tried them all. Since I’m a bit of a lightweight, we stuck with the Birds of Paradise and the Pomegranate Mimosa—both were absolutely delicious. Then everything just continues to impress us course after course. BF after trying the long waited fresh baked biscuit says - and I quote - “ I’ve never had biscuit before”. The beautiful garden salad, honestly looks prettier and tastes better than one I had in a Michelin-starred restaurant. The salmon and flat iron, they are totally out of control good, great presentation and perfectly cooked - there is not a single bite that I didn’t love from start to finish. We totally over indulged ourselves at this point but still ordered a cream brûlée just because we didn’t want to miss out on anything, end up couldn’t quite finish. The restaurant was swamped that day but our server was warm, friendly, who clearly takes great pride in and has a genuine love for this place. I will definitely come back soon with more friends.
I’m giving it a 5 out of 5 even though our server disappeared for over 30 minutes. Everything else was divine! The garden is gorgeous and whimsical setting for brunch. The food is exquisite and full of flavors. Overall, I highly recommend. I truly believe our server was an anomaly as the neighboring servers jumped in to assist and were incredibly polite. The biscuits are even better than you can imagine. The quiche was bursting with flavor. Can’t wait to go back.
Beautiful presentation and fresh flavors! I tried the avocado grilled chicken salad, jumbo prawn with basil farro, and the flat iron steak — all were delicious and well-balanced. The Garden Punch and pomegranate juice were refreshing and perfect for summer. The plating is elegant and has a garden-inspired touch, making the whole dining experience both tasty and visually stunning. Highly recommend!
What a hidden gem. If you've never had a girls brunch or lunch date here, you just have to add it to your bucket list bc it was such a unique and lovely experience. Food and drinks are farm to table and you are sitting right in the middle of a botanical garden. Also fresh flowers on every table. Drinks are also great. It does cost $5 to enter the garden and parking is limited. There is a free parking lot but it gets filled up quickly in the morning so if you come after noon, there is paid public parking nearby. I will likely be coming back to take a friend for their birthday!
This is such a little amazing place! Inside a beautiful garden library, this place provides a warm welcome with garden-to-table cuisine. It’s a perfect daytime date with someone special. Yes, it’s $5 to get in but it’s worth it because after eating you can experience the beautiful garden. Best part: The biscuits! They are made to order and are AMAZING. We went there for brunch, and were surrounded by the sweet smells of all of the flowers around us. From the hosts to the servers, bartenders, and chef, everyone was super inviting and nice. Great vegetarian options also!
This place is adorable. Highly recommend making a reservation for a spot. It is Located inside the Sherman library and gardens and admission is $5. But once you are inside you can wander and look at all the plants before your reservation. They have both outdoor seating and indoor seating out in the garden. We sat outside and really enjoyed the beautiful scenery. For drinks we started with garden punch (non Alcoholic) and the bird of paradise. Both were very refreshing after our walk around the garden. We of course had to get the biscuits and they were very flavorful and the whipped butter and their citrus infused honey paired really nicely. I had the salmon and it was perfectly cooked with a roasted assortment of summer veg and basil mashed potatoes. My husbands lamb shank fell of the bone and the sauce was very flavorful. For dessert we split the strawberry pavlova and it was really balanced. Parking is available on the street and there is also a parking lot right next to it. Can’t wait to go back. They also offer a tea set which I can’t wait to try!
We loved the food , delicious fresh produce. Beautifully I prepared and arranged. The Scones are to die for. Really really delicious. For my likens it was a little too crammed and tight today. We were offered a table right where everyone walks in and it felt uncomfortable, nicely we were offered a different table to the side. But also here: People were walking in and out constantly brushing by the chair. tables are a little low so eating was a bit difficult. I would be so much nicer to just have a table less and more space. We came in season change, so most of the planting is being redone at the Gardens at the moment. But none of these things made our experience not worth it. Definitely a beautiful place to enjoy!!!
Beautiful spring day in a garden setting. Fabulous farm to table restaurant, with some items picked directly from the onsite garden. Veggie quiche is about the best I've ever had and the accompanying salad was very fresh. You must get the biscuits, buttery and tasty. Flourless chocolate cake is very decadent, but not overly sugary sweet.
This is the most romantic, beautiful setting in a garden, restaurant where you can sit outside or inside. Everything is artistic and made with great care. Highly recommend taking home the gourmet herb biscuits.. Just a special special restaurant. Don’t miss it.
Very nice, quaint restaurant tucked in the middle of Sherman gardens with a healthy menu choice. Restaurant is very clean and romantic and the workers are all very friendly. Always willing to help accommodate you and answer your questions. The food is very colorful, fresh and tasty.
delicious food and beautiful atmosphere. we went for a birthday lunch and many people seem to choose the place to gather for special occasions. we ordered the biscuits, crispy trout, and vegetable quiche. all were wonderful and hi go my recommended. their outside patio is nice, though the tables for 2 & 3 seats were a little cramped. there were parking spots open in their private parking lot prior to 11am but became very busy later, there is also free 2hr street parking. the surrounding area is beautiful as well as the gardens ($5 admission fee required)
My sister found this beautiful garden for my birthday lunch. Probably the best salad I’ve ever had in my life. The flavors here are incredible. The Farro salad is so delicious, can’t wait to come back for it again. The service and ambiance is just as great as the food. Chef Jessica is dedicated to making this an amazing experience!
In a lovely floral garden setting perfect for couples and girfriends, we enjoyed beautifully presented creations including the best biscuits ever, a salmon salad, a quiche and salad dish, and a lemon custard tart with berries...and bubbles of course!
An amazing garden lunch experience!! I wish I knew about this place sooner. Located inside the Sherman gardens it’s an upscale brunch spot that absolutely blew away my expectations. I ordered the salmon with a lemon cream sauce and the trout with basil mashed potatoes. The presentation was immaculate with fresh flowers to garnish picked from the very gardens it’s centered in. The fish was cooked great, no complaints and everything complimented each other perfectly. For dessert it is seasonal but the lavender crème brûlée was delectable along with the cheesecake. I’d definitely recommend taking your s/o out to a nice brunch date and continue through the gardens or head down to the beach after. Will be coming here again!
A charming café tucked inside a garden. It gets very busy on weekends, so reservations are a must.
I had biscuits which were a little different from what I expected. I put some orange honey and chives butter/cream on the warm biscuit, and it was delicious. Salmon was excellent. Dahlia salad was very fresh and crunchy. Inside the beautiful garden. Service was excellent. I felt that it was worth the paying the bills since it was niiiice and yummy.

Delicious food presented beautifully!! Lots of seating choices indoors and outdoors!! Great service!

Oh my goodness, where do I begin?! What an amazing experience we had here to celebrate my mom’s Bday! Wonderful setting in the beautiful Sherman Gardens. Jessica Roy is the much-acclaimed chef that has created and maintains an incredible menu. The drinks and food were absolutely DELICIOUS and beautifully served. Jessica Roy is unbelievably talented, and you can definitely see her passion for what she’s creating. The service was phenomenal! Dina was so sweet, friendly, attentive, knowledgeable and helpful! We honestly could not have asked for a better experience! I’m telling all my friends, and I will definitely become a “Regular”. Thank you 608 Dahlia!
Amazing food and friendly staff! Just a heads-up—there’s a $5 entry fee for the garden, as others have mentioned. We made a reservation in advance since my grandparents knew how popular this spot can get. It was definitely worth it! The presentation was beautiful, and the flavors were fantastic. I’d love to come back again for brunch with family or friends. The only downside was the limited parking and the small dining area, which made things feel a bit cramped.
great vibes and atmosphere! the food is pretty mid, A LOT of flies, and the service is quite slow. also on the more expensive side. def just paying for the view
Beautifully plated dishes. The bread was excellent and the lemon tart was the best dessert, we tried all of them. The chocolate cake was very dense. It was not my taste and I love chocolate. The salmon was slightly overcooked and dry so that was a bit disappointing. My friend had the trout and hers was much better. Not sure I would return as it was pricey and I’m Not sure the flavors would good enough for the cost. Excellent service and beautiful flowers.

# Sugarfish by Sushi Nozawa: Una Experiencia Culinaria Esencial en Newport Beach
