They had QR code ordering like many places in Cupertino. The photos in the online food app were very accurate to what we were served. In fact the portions feel larger in some cases. The staff confirms the level of spiciness which was helpful to manage expectations for those of us who don't grow up eating super spicy food. The specialty of the house (spicy red rice noodle) was very good. The cilantro beef was also nicely done with lots of greens. We tried 3 desserts and found them all very interesting/fun to eat.

Very good food! It's definitely on the pricier side but the authenticity is worth it Even greater if you can handle spices Good for both Yunnan & Sichuan dishes. More sichuan than Yunnan imo You got discounts on your bday! Bring your id

The perfect choice for a friends' gathering, offering very authentic Yunnan cuisine. The portions are generous, and the flavors are genuine. For those who have been living here for a long time, it might be a bit too spicy. The waitstaff are very attentive, thoughtful, and caring. I've already dined here twice this week. It's definitely a great place worth visiting.

We ordered the stir fried chayote leaves, the sauteed boletus + maitake mushrooms, lemongrass grilled fish. All dishes were amazing and really flavorful!

This place is magnificent! All the other business nearby display signs in the parking lot saying “parking not for Ping’s Bistro customers, which says enough. The food is always fantastic, and is of a very high standard. Even if you’ve never had Yunnan food, please come, it’ll blow you away.

So wonderful to have a Yunnan restaurant in Cupertino. The menu has dishes we don't see in other Chinese restaurants, and they are yum. We asked for a couple of dishes to be made vegetarian, and they obliged. There is a line, if you come in during normal lunch and dinner hours. The mushrooms with peppers was excellent, as were the sauteed veggies. The grilled fish, Cambodian style is a must have. The mushroom fried rice was excellent as well. Service is friendly.

We ordered the grilled fish, fried rice, stir-fried cabbage, pig knuckles, and pork stir fry. The grilled fish was incredible, probably one of the best fish I’ve ever had and definitely the highlight of the meal. The fried rice is also really flavorful, would definitely recommend. Our cabbage was over salted though, but still decently tasty overall. One thing to note: you have to get there really early to grab a seat. The service wasn’t very attentive, but that’s expected since you order through your phone. It’s a bit pricey, but worth it for the grilled fish alone!

The food was pretty good. We ordered beef roll with mint even though we thought it would be a weird combination, but it turned out very good. The grilled fish was just right with the fish still moist and tender. We also ordered a chicken soup with wild fungi, and the chicken was just okay but the soup was absolutely delicious. First time trying out Yunnan cuisine and not disappointed. However beware some dishes are really spicy and they cannot adjust the spiciness levels. Service was okay. Servers were busy and didn't pay a lot of attention. Lots of people here. Even though we arrived before 5:30pm (really early for dinner IMO) there was still a 50-minute wait. Bring good friends so you can chat while you wait. The waiting area lacked seats so be prepared to sit inside your car.

We came to Ping’s Bistro for a weekend lunch and were completely blown away by the vibrant flavors, beautiful presentation, and high-quality ingredients. The restaurant offers authentic Yunnan and Dai-style Chinese cuisine — dishes that are aromatic, balanced, and full of depth without being overly heavy. We ordered a mix of dishes to share: • Dai Style Deep-Fried Pork Ribs – Crispy on the outside, tender and juicy inside, perfectly seasoned with a hint of lemongrass. The dipping sauce was tangy and refreshing, cutting through the richness of the pork. A must-order appetizer! • Fried Rice with Boletus, Green Pepper & Beef – One of the best fried rice dishes we’ve ever had. Each grain was infused with wok hei and balanced beautifully with earthy mushrooms and mild heat from green peppers. • Stir-Fried Chayote Leaves with Dried Chili Peppers – Fresh, tender greens stir-fried to perfection with garlic and dried chili. Simple, clean, and full of natural flavor. • Signature Grilled Fish with Lemongrass – The star of the meal. The fish was grilled to a beautiful char and topped with fragrant herbs, garlic, lime, and chili. The lemongrass aroma elevated the dish to another level — spicy, citrusy, and deeply satisfying. • Sautéed Black Termite Mushroom, Maitake, Cordyceps Flower Velvet – A rare treat! The mix of mushrooms gave layers of texture — chewy, soft, and crisp — with an earthy umami flavor. • Country-Style Sautéed Pork with Eggs and Black Fungus – Homestyle comfort at its best. The soft eggs and wood ear mushrooms soaked up the sauce beautifully, creating a rich, balanced bite every time. • Sautéed Beef with Pickled Mustard – Tender beef slices paired with tangy mustard greens and red peppers — a bold yet harmonious flavor combination. Every dish came out piping hot, beautifully plated, and perfectly portioned for sharing. The flavors were authentic, and the seasoning was carefully balanced — not too oily or salty. The restaurant’s atmosphere is calm and modern, with large windows that bring in plenty of natural light. Service was attentive and efficient; our server helped us select dishes according to our spice preference (“less spicy”) and ensured we had a smooth dining experience. For anyone who loves discovering regional Chinese cuisines beyond the usual Cantonese or Sichuan offerings, Ping’s Bistro is a must-visit. It’s perfect for group dining or a casual yet refined family meal. - Favorite dishes: Dai-style pork ribs, grilled lemongrass fish, boletus beef fried rice. - Spice level: Adjustable – just ask for “less spicy” if you prefer mild. - Portion: Generous and great for sharing. Highly recommended — this place deserves way more attention in Cupertino’s dining scene!

Place is really good, one of my favorite. Their chicken soup is normally good but for the first time had to send back due to not enough chicken taste. Pings did it without a problem and even gave us a dish on the house

i love you ping. FOOD every dish is CRAZY good. i highly recommend the braised wild mushrooms with pork/家烧野生菌. it has a lot of flavor and the mushroom & pork is tender. i also recommend the Fried Rice with Boletus Edulis & Ham/小青菜杂菌云腿炒饭. it has a very subtle smoky flavor that works well with the mushrooms. the Dai Style Deep-Fried Pork Ribs w/Tomato/傣味香茅排骨 was also pretty good— crunchy on outside and tender on inside but it is lowkey hard to completely clean the bone. desserts i recommend are Shepherd’s Purse Glutinous Rice Cakes/野荠菜糍粑, Osmanthus Honey Milk Jelly/桂花蜜酒酿冰奶冻, and Rose Ice Jelly with litchi/云南墨红玫瑰荔枝冰粉. i especially recommend the milk jelly since i think it has a very unique rich milky/honey flavor. the shepherds purse glutinous rice was also very good— crunchy on the outside, soft and chewy on the inside. the rose ice jelly is good if you want a refreshing cold dessert. SERVICE service is good and fast. i HIGHLY recommend coming right at opening (5pm) since this is a very popular choice. wait time can get up to over an hour if your party is big. no reservations unless you are party of 8 and above. order through qr code and they will confirm what you order and then serve. food is served relatively quick (15-20mins for first dish to come), then got slower when serving the rest of our dishes ATMOSPHERE i love the decoration of pings bistro. feels clean and modern. definitely need more bathroom stalls— not enough for a full restaurant. super busy inside so it can be hard to hear. there also is a TIME LIMIT for how long you can stay.

This place features unique Yunnan cuisine from southwest China (the rain forest region bordering Laos and Cambodia). This Yunnan cuisine restaurant is a gem, owned by the same business owner behind popular spots like Shang Cafe and Hunan Impression, ensuring consistently high quality. The food here is delicious, and the service is excellent. It's a popular place, so expect a wait for a table after 5:30pm on Friday evenings. Although some dishes are marked with two or three hot pepper signs, they are less spicy than expected compared to other Hunan and Sichuan restaurants. This is perfect for someone like me who enjoys spicy flavors but can't handle extremely spicy food. I'll definitely be coming back!

I tried their Fremont location couple years ago . But I was surprised that the menu at this location is more unique. Many dishes here are Yunnan. We ordered Dai style pork short ribs with tomato naimi sauce. It was very delicious, with the aroma of lemongrass, and the sauce was sweet , sour snd spicy . Fried rice with boletus edulis, ham & green should be our favorite, the rice texture great and the mushrooms taste great too. Beef stew pot was too spicy for us, but the ingredients were rich and very delicious. I think this place is suitable for spicy food lovers.

The staff at this restaurant is excellent, providing friendly and attentive service. The place is extremely popular, so I highly recommend ordering in advance to avoid long wait times. Most of the dishes are very tasty and well-prepared. I strongly recommend the fried rice, which was absolutely fantastic and bursting with flavor. However, the chanterelle mushroom stew with chicken was a bit ordinary and didn’t stand out as much as the other dishes. One downside was that our table was a bit small, which made it a bit uncomfortable. Overall, it was a great dining experience with delicious food and wonderful service. If you’re looking for a place with a warm atmosphere and flavorful dishes, this restaurant is a solid choice.

That fish everyone talks about was fantastic, BUT, the food is way too pricey for what it is. Also, if you're not a fan of ethnic Chinese food, prepare to get bewildered at the options. Still, pretty good and will impress Chinese parents!

Went there on a Monday at 1 PM, and the parking was no bad. No waiting on line either. The food was fairly good, but quite salty for my plain taste buds. They served our dishes so quickly that we even wondered if the food were precooked or what. The service was nice and friendly. The waiters told us this the only site that has no female service staff, as the work load is fairly demanding. Well, I can sense their well deserved pride. It's a bit noisy for me, as the landscape outside of the window is really nice. Sincerely wish the patrons can lower their voices and enjoy the wonderful atmosphere more.

Wait time is too long during the weekend. Decent flavors but small portion

Dishes taste very good, offers less popular Yunnan cuisine plus other more popular Chinese dishes. Servers are attentive and foods are quick to the table. But it can get very busy at lunch or dinner time, and parking space is limited.

The food was good. It was busy the night we went on a Thursday night. We enjoyed the food. You might need to share table with other parties.

The pork knuckle has a rich, savory flavor, and the skin is well-seasoned and melt in the mouth. The accompanying pickles are a great touch—tangy and refreshing, they complement the dish well. The rice is well cooked, too. However, the meat is a bit too dry, which takes away from an otherwise enjoyable experience. A little more juiciness would elevate the dish significantly.

The fried pork rib is just so so. There’s no taste of lemongrass even though it’s in the title. Different from the menu photo, this dish doesn’t use the ribs, but some cheap part of the meat with very hard cartilage, and then deep fry it. The dipping sauce doesn’t really work, mostly taste like ground tomato. Do not recommend. The mushroom and ham fried rice is way too overpriced for what’s presented. You can barely see or taste the ham/mushroom. I’ve never seen anything so finely chopped (or ground?). The grilled fish is the best of the 3, but doesn’t appear freshly cooked. It’s too lukewarm. The service is fine, 18% service charge automatically applied. I do think the food needs improvement.

The food tasted amazing! BUT let’s just say my bf and I both had sudden onset of stomach problems afterwards 🫠 There were bits of sand in one of our dishes, but the server was prompt to offer remaking it. I wonder if that was the problem…so diner beware 😅

Tip is POSTTAX beware! The signature rice dish tastes blander than its Fremont storefront. Go to the Fremont warm springs branch. They are much better!

The food was good, however recently all dishes are toooooo salty… Reduce some salt 🧂 will make a huge difference!

Overpriced and overly crowded. But the bay area is not short of people with both money and time so their business is quite good. Food is good flavor if you don't mind the small portion (i.e. why it's overpriced). You can spend $30 per person but still not completely full.

2.0Star Ping's Bistro Cupertino This restaurant is far from your typical Chinese dining experience, especially if you’re a fan of protein-heavy meals. The menu has very limited options when it comes to meat dishes, as the restaurant specializes in mushrooms. From hot to Mala spices, the variety of mushroom dishes is impressive, but be warned—if you’re not accustomed to bold flavors and spices, this might not be the place for you. We didn’t realize that mushrooms were the specialty here, so we opted for the Deep Fried Pork Ribs. Unfortunately, the ribs were dry, chewy, and lacked flavor. The Shredded Potato, despite requesting minimal spice, was too fiery for our taste. The Fried Rice was average but lacked the aromatic touch that makes this dish stand out. The Jami Red Rice Noodle, sadly, did not live up to expectations either—it was bland and unimpressive. One thing to note is the sheer amount of spices used throughout the restaurant. You can smell it in the air as it tingles and stimulates your senses—definitely a strong indicator of what’s to come on your plate! Overall, the experience was a bit too spicy, even for those of us who enjoy heat in our food. None of the dishes paired well with rice, making it a less than satisfying meal. If you’re a fan of mushrooms and can handle intense spices, it might be worth a try. Otherwise, you may want to explore other options.

They don’t take reservations so we walked in and waited in line for 1hour. Service is fine but apparently they don’t managed the wait time very well. If u missed show up over 3mins, they’ll automatically cancelled your wait. Food is terrible compared with their other brunch in Fremont! Definitely not a worthy try….

The food here is good and I do like the atmosphere and Yunan cuisines. But last time after having the dishes, all of my friends had stomachache. We thought it might be the fish hasn't been cooked well done because it tasted half raw. Another thing is that, since they are new opened, the wait time could be very long. We have waited for 2 hr before assigning a seat and waited another 1 hr before the dishes were served.

Such a hype. We ordered 5 dishes and really can’t say we liked any of them. Hardly serviced, and cold, if any.

The food and service were fine, but the mandatory 18% service charge really hurt the overall experience. While there is a notice posted on the wall, we didn’t notice it when entering, and it only became clear at checkout. For a restaurant that is already priced higher than similar places, adding a non-optional service fee feels excessive and not very customer-friendly. I understand transparency matters legally, but from a customer’s perspective, this policy feels unfair and discouraging. I would have preferred clearer communication or simply higher menu prices instead of a surprise charge at the end.

Unfortunately, I didn’t enjoy my experience at all. On top of that, the mandatory 18% service charge feels excessive and unjustified for the level of service provided. Very disappointing overall.

I’ve visited this restaurant twice and unfortunately, both visits left me disappointed. this restaurant shared the same owner and brand with many other famous Chinese restaurants in the bay area and this one is by far the least pleasant service and food. Firstly, the waiting process is incredibly frustrating. There is a long waiting list, but the space to wait is very limited. Additionally, there's no system in place to sign up earlier and receive notifications when a table is ready, which would be far more convenient. I was also disappointed by the lack of flexibility in seating—requiring the entire party to be present before seating us caused unnecessary delays. Regarding the food, I found it to be quite average. The fish, in particular, did not seem fresh, all the beef was salty with no other flavors --and they're all super pricey. Lastly, the service was overly aggressive. The staff checked on us repeatedly(more than 5 times), nudging us to leave and pack even before we had finished our meal and talked. This made the entire experience feel rushed and uncomfortable. we had to leave after 50 minutes being seated

If you order fish soup, remember to let it boil ( cook) for 8 minutes. If you forget to boil it for 8 minutes, it will not be fully cooked. My Dad wanted to try this place because he passed by it in the past and saw many customers. I did not know there are many vegetarian dishes ( there are some meat dishes but not many). Everything is in Chinese ( so I assume it is only for Chinese readers). Although the food was good, it was ( to be honest) a rip off. The only good thing ( my Dad ordered was the spinach/seaweed). It had a pleasant, nice taste and gave you plenty ( for 10 dollars). But the sea bass soup was 52 dollars and I did not see very much meat (not big...the fish) and soup tasted very average ( I had better soup at other restaurants). The waiter did not give us hardly any green onion so my Dad asked for more to put in the soup and he did give it to him. But still lack flavour and just not that great ( for 52 dollars, I expect good soup). Also, the mushroom fried rice was rip off. It costed 39 dollars for hardly any mushroom. The mushroom was suppose to be expensive but hardly any in the rice. Although the rice tasted good ( it had pork and some pork fat which gave it a nice flavour) but not much veggie in it. It was basically fried rice with pork and suppose to have more mushroom but had very little. Instead it had bean ( or lima bean?) which was Ok but nothing great. Since they were so stingy ( for 39 dollars) with the beans or very little veggie ( or no vegetables) I dont think it was worth the price. I have had much better fried rice at other restaurants better taste or more veggie or more meat or other. But it seems they only put beans and rice and very little mushroom (and over priced). That is why I gave so little on the rating. They did not even give hot tea ( only hot water), we had to ask for tea. Some waiters are nice but some are not very good. The waiter claim that I ordered hot water. He never asked me, just assumed. This restaurant needs to at least provide tea for people who order 50 dollar of fish soup. It just feels kind of cheap for the prices they charge and hardly give you food. Only the spinach was worth it.

Very frustrated by the service today. Only 45 minutes after all dishes are served and I am still working on these dishes, the waiter was taking away these dishes without checking with me. I stopped him and explained we haven’t finished yet. Another 5 minutes later they asked again to let as leave. I understand there are people waiting but it becomes unreasonable to push us leaving and keep giving us pressure.

This place has really gone downhill, FAST. It used to be one of my favorite restaurants in the Bay Area. The lunch and weekend crowd would spill out the door for yards into the parking lot. Not any more. Not even close. We went there for lunch during the peak hour and the restaurant was hardly full. Guess what? They serve you the infamous pre-made food 预制菜 (likely imports from China not regulated in any shape or form by the local health department). Our order arrived within a couple of minutes, obviously microwave-heated with lukewarm inside. The waiter served us the wrong order and refused to change. When I got home, I had diarrhea. Sadly we will never come back again.

70% red chili,20% fried garlic, 10% mushroom. But the service is fast. Very unstable
