For a small sushi restaurant this is a fabulous spot. First of all my bartender was Mike, and wow. That guy knows customer service! He was on point with his social skills, wonderful delivery and had amazing recommendations! The atmosphere was perfect. Not loud, super chill, clean and comfortable. The rolls are fat and really delish!! I tried the tuna tartare, which was an amazing size and perfectly infused. The miso soup was different in an amazing way. Plus my favorite rolls are the geisha and hamachi! Wow even now my mouth is watering thinking of them they were that good. Perfect for a date night and just a step over at the hotel. I absolutely recommend this location to anyone around and I will be back.
Our server Bernie was the same one we had last year when we ate at the Black Ship Little Katana last year and we all remembered each other and his service was immaculate. Our experience was divine and elevated by the fabulous food and dynamic created by the restaurant staff. Highly recommend.
Berny was so nice and attentive despite it being a busy Friday night. The katsu curry was good even though personally I would've liked a little more veg, I loved that it came with rice and miso soup. The curry itself was a little salty, but surprisingly the spice crept up on me, which was nice. My friend got the tonkatsu ramen and loved it! The ngiri was a long wait, but it actually worked out that it was our last bite as it was so buttery and yummy! We come to this area once a year for Fanexpo and will definitely be back!
This restaurant was a delightful surprise! We hadn't planned on venturing out, but stumbled upon it while exploring near our hotel. The service was exceptional, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The diverse food options catered to different preferences. I savored the Ruman Sup, so delicious it satisfied me completely. My friend opted for the Chicken Teriyaki and raved about it. If you're looking for delicious Asian food within walking distance of your hotel, I highly recommend checking this place out!
This was literally right across the street from the hotel i stayed in for the convention, the sat us down very quick, its Mexican food and it was very good. The service was also good but they forgot to ask if we wanted hot or mild so it was a bit too spicy for me but I was able to remove the sauce from my carne asada At the end the waiter brought us free cocktails but I forgot to take a photo
The Stone Bowl dinners were out of this world delicious!! What a memorable anniversary dinner out! Staff was attentive, food was great! We will be back!!
Food was outstanding! I hope we can go back there next year. Tremendous variety. Dedicated wait staff. Immaculate space!
The food was ok but what made our experience even better was one of the staff members LaTrenton was amazing he was sweet , funny , took care of us very well .... well done having such an amazing person on your staff
Shiwei at the bar is above excellent!! Super efficient and exceedingly friendly. She makes you want to come back. Come down and see her!
We ate here at least 3 times in the two days we were at the Omni for a conference. Not just for convenience but because the Sushi was really good!
Awesome food, Luis is an amazing chef! I had a very good time there.
the charming roll was delicious ! As well as the ribeye . Service was fantastic. Great location just steps away from the Omni hotel .
This place is fantastic. Do yourself a favor and go here. I've never written a review before, but this restaurant is so far beyond places I've eaten at before that I had to write a review. The service was attentive. I got the Wagyu appetizer, ribeye, salmon tower, and some rolls. Everything was perfectly cooked and had great presentation. I'm very particular about my steak, and it was fantastic and very flavorful. It's rare to find a restaurant that does both sushi and steak very well. This place is off the beaten path, so don't be dissuaded if it isn't packed. We initially came here on a whim, but we'll definitely be coming back for years to come. Also, there's free parking, which is awesome for downtown Dallas.
Ate way more for lunch than I anticipated due to the options. Sushi was very good. The Almond Crusted Trout itself is worth making the trip here again for sure. Angel the server is top of the line, personable, professional and knowledgeable of the selections. Keep rocking.
We came for Christmas day. It was our first time and we loved it! All the ingredients were super fresh and everything was delicious. We'll definitely be back! Also, they make a great dirty martini. Which can be hard to find! We'll definitely be back.
Great food and atmosphere. Bernie provided super A+ service. The mango cheesecake, Bai Bun and Old Fashion was GREAT! Will be back!
The food and service here were phenomenal! We went during a lunch rush and they got us in and out in an hour and kept the customer service and food to a high standard. On top of it, it is a great atmosphere with great decor.
This restaurant is awesome!! I never write a review. I just have to say our waiter Angel, sushi chef, kitchen staff were polite, attentive, & went above & beyond in taking care of us. The food is amazing. I haven’t eaten this much in a very long time. Try their katana roll (sushi), papas roll, toro tuna, rib-eye with mashed potatoes, mango cheesecake, & a fruit apple drink they serve. Yes, I tried all of these foods. It is delicious. Can’t wait to go back & try the rest of their menu. BTW they serve more than just sushi & steak. Now I wish I would’ve taken pics.
Do not be apprehensive of the idea of Japanese and Korean "melded" together. This place is amazing a must-see in Dallas especially if you are attending a convention at the convention center. While the menu does say things are spicy the sauce can be served on the side but it is so much better when you mix it in. Ask for Angel he is one of the most attentive and best service I've ever had the pleasure of dining with.
This place was one of my favorite meals of all time. Our server, Johnny, was very attentive and always took time to speak with us despite being sat with a 12 top and another table all the way on the other side of the restaurant. He was truly a gentleman. The food was absolutely amazing. We started with some sushi which was really fresh the ginger and wasabi were perfect. We had the tofu appetizer , again, perfectly prepared. My wife had the diver scallops and I had the ribeye Angus. The Wasabi mashed potatoes are great the scallops and the steak were fantastic. We had dessert as well which was also smashing, ginger creme brulee and mochi ice cream. Tons of hot sake. It was our one Splurge dinner for our trip to Dallas and it was the right choice.
Great tasting food! How something as simple as sweet and sour chicken could be so good. The hot and spicy soup was perfect and don't forget dessert the mango cheesecake hit the mark.
This place was packed on a Wednesday evening while the two restaurants next door were mostly empty. There was also a jazz band playing. Four of us all ordered bento boxes, grilled salmon, angus tenderloin and sushi and sashimi. We all enjoyed our bento boxes. Service was slow though because there were a lot of customers.
Amazing steaks! Very accommodating on so many levels. I would highly recommend to anyone! I am not a huge steak eater, but my steak melted in my mouth...yum! Our waitress Angelica was also fantastic. Wish I could give more stars than just 5!!!
My wife and I were at the Convention Center exhibiting for at the Dallas Safari Club Convention and staying at the Omni Hotel connected to the convention facility. Went in and sat at the bar for lunch. I wish I could remember the Asian bartender who waited on us. She was great and made some great drinks. But, I also really wanted to comment on the ramen! I'm from Hawaii and my "benchmark" for all Japanese restaurants is the ramen! It's what I grew up on! Just like cheese enchiladas are always how I test Mexican restaurants. Anyway, I gotta say, I've eaten ramen all over the country and Black Ship had some of the best ramen I could remember. I still talk about it and would go back to Dallas just for the ramen. It was a great meal. Thank you!
Had a great experience tonight. The bartender / server (Shiuea- probably spelled it wrong) was excellent. Told us what was fresh and recommended what to order. Food was very good and fish super fresh. We even got treated with real wasabi which was excellent compared to the paste wasabi.
Our server was outstanding! She took the time to talk with us and share a little of her history (based upon our line of questioning). Recommend eating here. The sushi was very fresh and delicious.
We were so hungry we forgot to take pics of our food but we sat at the Sushi Bar Chef Takeya? (I think thats her name) made us a Friday Night Roll, De Geisha and a Ahi Tuna Tartare Tower. Now the Friday Night and Ahi Tuna Tartare Tower were great but that De Geisha WAS WILD! Ive never eaten something like that before. And I normally dont even eat sushi. Cant wait to come back next weekend. 10/10 everything.
Came here two nights in a row while staying at Omni for a conference. Some of the best sushi I’ve had, but even better service. Shiwei our server took such good care of us remembered us by name and our exact orders the next day! Beyond impressed.
Today I came in on Thanksgiving the staff was great . The manager Abby was wonderful and professional . But baby my bartender Melissa was wonder . She was very friendly and knowledgeable . I had the best french 75 , I ever had in my life . it was prefect . The sushi was rainbow roll was delicious . The staff was great everything was on point
This place is amazing and elegant. The miso soup is bomb. One of the chef’s, Takeya, made one of her specialty sushi rolls and it was great! I’m so glad I came here.❤️
It was my first experience dining here. A friend of mine--who is a regular--recommended I try it. We came in and were waited on by Angel. Angel was extremely friendly and personable. Within the blink of an eye, he brought us beverages and made recommendations to me about the menu. Not only did I order based on his recommendation, I thoroughly enjoyed the food. Angel had already memorized what my friend likes (since he's the regular) and confirmed that's what he wanted. Considering how many people they serve, I was impressed that Angel could remember what he wanted. Anyway, the service was tremendously spectacular. Angel went out of his way to make it awesome. I truly cannot wait until I can make it back in again. And you know I will be asking for Angel by name!!!!
Sit at the bar with Shiwei she is amazing and fun! Food was great and the atmosphere relaxing. When traveling for business you just want to get out of your room and chill. This is the place!
Hosted dinner party without any issues! We had our own room, there were about 35 of us and they did a wonderful job! My steak was amazing, best I have had in years! Mashed potatoes were on point, I wish I could recreate those for Christmas dinner. Thanks for doing a great job with our group and being so nice:)
The place is clean and the food is fresh. They use higher quality ingredients and they know how to prepare it also. The manager really wants you to be happy and enjoy your food. If they have any issues he will make it right. I’m amazed the quality is good and there are not many good restaurants around here except this place and bobs steak and chop house. But i like this place better because i don’t need to dress up.

I celebrated my bday here and I must say, they were very accommodating, since I had to cancel the first date from me getting the flu. They graciously took my party of 20 for a reschedule. From the moment we walked into the door, we were greeted, and I was wished a happy belated bday. This will not be one of my normal reviews, since I don't have food pics. I honestly just forgot and was having too good of a time celebrating with everyone! Our server Yusef was great, though I do think another order taker would have been good. All in all though, Yusef was a great server, and handled our large party as well as one person could! Everyone liked or loved their food and drinks! The almond trout and rib eyes were very popular! The biggest surprise was the cheesecake they brought out for me during the happy birthday song and then the 2 trays of various desserts for my entire party to share. Very unexpected and awesome of Black Ship to do this! It was literally the proverbial "icing on the cake!" Thankyou again to Yusef and the manager and entire staff that made us feel special last night. You have created more customers and great memories for your establishment! Job well done. I highly recommend trying this place!
Really good Asian fusion resto right near the convention center. Although the food does taste American and not really authentic. I had the stone pot I think it was called but in all reality it's a bimbimbap dish. My wife had the japjae and we both had the same issue. Food is fresh and very good but lacks the authentic taste. The ambiance was very intimate and modern. The service was very good and attentive. I've had better Korean dishes but it's not the worst. Would recommend if you are looking for Asian dishes and spending the day at the convention center!
The food here is really good, although it seems to be made hastily and lazy. The fish wasn't cut well, and the dumpling soup is literally dumplings in miso soup. Overall the fish was fresh, but the service here was horrendous. I'll never go back just because of the service. Took 10 minutes just to be acknowledged. Employees acted way too busy, food took way too long to come out. One example... asked for diet Coke, got Coke, Dr pepper, then finally diet coke. Overallood but horrible service.
Big selection of sushi rolls for around $15 and under. The larger rolls have 8 pieces. The quality was great and the place has a nice ambiance and TVs showing plenty of sports.
Good place.to have a quick dinner or meal. food is good but not excelent. Front service and waitress are good too. scheduling is limited just to afternoons or nights. sometimes is crowded but not so.often...
Everyone was nice. We took our time with dinner and watched the super bowl. It was nice because it wasn't packed and food visibility tv's from every table.
Good quality but on the pricier side - the service was slow but I think they wanted to give me time to enjoy my food. I typically rush through my meals but it helped slow me down a bit :)
Best service in Dallas. Amazing atmosphere. Perfect sushi. Just wish the noodles for the ramen weren't (obviously) pre-cooked and kept in bags to be reheated as orders are placed.
The food was AWESOME and the service was exceptional. I'm not a fan of sushi so I had the Korean Beef. It was definitely out of my comfort zone but it paid off.The Beef was seasoned to perfection and the wasabi mashed potatoes!!! DELICIOUS Oh....I forgot about the mango cheesecake, it's a must have.
Good Sushi. Went in for a quick bite and it was fast well made and not too expensive. I was not particularly impressed but the cocktail we ordered, some sort of martini but that was also my fault for ordering such a drink. I would definitely return if presented the opportunity.
The food was very good and prices were a little high, but reasonable. Would try again, but different items. Spicy tuna roll and Philadelphia roll were as expected. Agedashi tofu and steamed beef dumplings were good. Louisiana roll will be a hard pass on next visit.
Amazing food! No issues with the food, but we did have issues with the service. My order didn't come out until my wife completely finished her meal. We spoke with manager about the situation and he comped my meal. Food was great though!
Are here last night. Great Hendricks Gin and Tonic with their Katana side salad and Singapore Seafood Noodles. Food was really good. Salad was huge for a side with really fresh ingredients including sprouts. I would have probably liked more dressing or a little more flavor on the dressing to counter the bitterness of the greens would made it even better. Noodles had great flavor but you need to mix in the sauce before diving in. A good choice.
With such a high standard of sushi restaurants in Dallas, it's hard to find this place much more than subpar. Cons: Dirty floor - several chopsticks from different tables, food, and silverware on the ground for the duration of our stay. Servers constantly stepping around it, not picking it up. Ran out of hot sake - waiter forgot to tell us, so we were expecting it for 30 min. -We got our appetizers last I had to ask for soy sauce after food arrived - no paper towels in the women's washroom (I was told) I could go on but will spare the details. On behalf of the waiter, he did offer us a free desert, and since we declined, he removed the sparkling waters off our bill. All in all, I wouldn't recommend this place, but I imagine since it's across from the hotel, they may last with the high customer turnover. Best if luck
So came in and got seated right away. It was not busy at all. It took them 30 minutes for just to get water. Host did come to let us know that our server was running a few minutes late. We ordered our food. They brought the ramen, forgot about my miso soup and said my sushi roll was running behind. Ramen was really salty. Sushi was good. We got the check and they charged us for the miso soup, but they corrected it. I wouldn’t recommend it. They have a very limited menu honestly.
The quality of sushi is bottom tier. It is good that there are 8 pieces but they are small. The cost does not match. “Everything is bigger in Texas” does not apply here. The atmosphere seemed nice and relaxing. The waitress seemed rushed. There in inconsistency in communication. I was told at the door that I could not make a To-go order over the phone or in person but I was welcome to sit at the bar to eat.
Bento box totally amercanised, only 2 compartments, one a salad, the other a dish like you would get at any dinner, wasaby mashed potatoes just like plain mashed potatos, a load of Edamame with chicken on top, that's it, at $14 whadaya expect
When we went, seemed kinda rushed and busy but the food was good. It's not exactly traditional Asian cuisine, they have a lot of fusion. I do recommend you ask if the meal comes with rice. It's usually a side order. The Korean chicken is amazing and hot!
Outstanding food completely offset by awful service. our server kept rushing us and did not really care, which is sad as we would have ordered much more of this great food. Hope they can get their service right
The service was very slow, the waitress was clearly too busy that night. The restaurant is huge, no real intimacy. The food was fine, the sushis were good but it’s not the best sushi place in Dallas.
The venue looks really good, and indeed, the rolls (that's all we tested) were delicious. On the other hand, the waiters were a bit overwhelmed (understandably given the popularity of the place). Not that they weren't efficient or polite, don't get me wrong. But we have waited quite a bit. Overall a good experience, worth the money (...).
the sushi is below average fish-- but the lower proces do reflect that-- but being part of the Omni ecosystem, they should doible the prices and have a real sushi restaurant the NY strip steak was excellent there is a serious bottleneck issue here also , the sushi took about one hour to be served staff was nice, but there's no real sense of urgency
The food here is pretty good, but they’re always understaffed, so it’s SLOW.
Honestly the fish didn't seem very fresh and was almost rubbery or seemed treated and there saw way to much cream cheese used that it was so overwhelming and too much. I was in town visiting for work but I wouldn't ever go back to this place. The waitress I has was very pleasant and attentive. My only complaint was the sushi just wasn't enjoyable and totally not worth the money.
It's the Saltiest Miso soup I've ever had. Waitress was nice, but the food rolled out inconsistently, and the ceiling dripped onto the plate.
Service was good. Salmon sushi was delicious. Everything else was mediocre, had better sushi from Kroger. Not much to the menu either, it’s a hotel restaurant for sure. For the same price there are far better options out there.
Service was great. Attentive server who went above and beyond The food was pretty bad. We went expecting it would be like the Little Katana on Cole…it is definitely not. Food was so bland. I had ramen, wife had a hot stone bowl…we each added all the spice, sauce, soy…anything to give it some flavor. I’m sure for drinks, it’s fine…but waaaaaay too many good sushi type spots for this to be passable.
The food was great, but the service was awful. My party was served by Sandra. We had our water refilled once, never were checked on during the meal, and waited 35 minutes after finishing our food to receive our tickets. She was rude and degrading to my group as we paid. I would not recommended eating here.
Was told it was an hour wait, stood outside for an hour and watched as a latge group walked in, complained about the long wait, and decided to just seat themselves. There is no open seating. The hostess said she couldnt do anything about it, and we were forced to wait another 15 minutes. At that point, my friends and I just left. I've never been to a restaurant ran so poorly.
Terrible experience and service. The food was delayed for more than 30 minutes. One of the worst in Dallas
This was, by far, the WORST service I have had in a long time! The waiter did not have a clue as to what orders he was bringing, and we waited for over an hour for the wrong plates to be brought to us. I would NEVER recommend to ANYONE to come here!
Tried to eat here on a Saturday night but restaurant did not honor reservation. Despite many empty tables, they admitted they were under staffed and "got busier than expected." I don't know how a place at the Omni can not expect to be busy on a Saturday night. Very condescending staff.
Slow service. Not the brightest hostess. No manager to be found. Long wait time when there were open tables. 2 conventions going on across the street, you’d think they would staff appropriately.
Awful menu for dinner. I honestly don’t know why they opened if they weren’t going to have an actual full menu. They have about 8 basic rolls. Waste of time. Go get sushi elsewhere.
Waited 20-25 minutes and the waiter never came back, so we left. I rarely give such low ratings, but I think not being asked for our order after 20 minutes qualifies for that special place
Terrible service, sit there for 10 mins and nobody took care. We need ask for water, ask for order, ask twice for sauce, ask for everything and the waitress was horribly slow, forgot our order, never go back.
Sat at the bar for 15 minutes. Got greeted. Got two waters, to wait 15 more minutes. Walked out
Marginal at best. Slow service. Actually I cant even say its slow... what's another word for beyond slow... non existant? Strike? Closed down due to inspections? Zombies working? Congress passing bill to help vets?
Please save yourself the hours it will take to eat at this place. No complaints about the food, nothing special but not bad. The service however was beyond ridiculous. There were two tables of people including ours, and more than 8 employees wondering around yet it still took 30 minutes to get our bills after asking, and then another 40 minutes to get them corrected when everything was jumbled up. The server acted inconvenienced and annoyed with having to deal with it. Seriously the worst experience.
Tried to dine here for lunch today. After waiting to be seated while the staff took several phone calls and engaged in a personal conversation, we were informed there was a 20 minute wait even though most tables were open. Apparently they didn't have enough staff on hand to seat a lunch crowd. Rather poor planning when you are across the street from a convention center with 12,000 attendees at it. Ended up going somewhere else. Suggest you avoid this place until they improve the quality and quantity of the staff.
Food was super salty. Had to wait so long to get our drinks and order. When we asked for some spices and a refill the water took over 20 mins and began taking other tables instead of coming to us with our drinks and stuff.
Horrible service. Lots of open tables, ordered filet mignon off lunch menu, medium. When served filet was practically burned. Sent it back, waitress took everything off table, nothing to eat while waiting. Waited so long, ended up just leaving. As leaving, manager finally comes out and approaches. Wont recommend and wont return. Unfortunate too as i work downtown and need options for lunch.
Food is way overpriced for very mediocre sushi, and our waiter forgot our food on the shelf while we sat for 40 mins waiting. It’s been 35 mins since we asked for the check and still hasn’t been run. They have our cards and it’s 18 mins past closing.
Customer service is beyond the worst. Hostess service, attentiveness from the hostesses, responsiveness of the bartender - and all the while the restaurant was nearly empty. You might be stuck here because of an event, but do yourself a favor - pick one of the other restaurants to pay for overpriced mediocre food at and let this one go under…
The place was really hot because the AC was broken. The fist order of chicken was not cooked all the way, the second order was 1/2 the amount and burnt. The cold sake was room temperature because the beer fridge was also broken. At least the staff was trying their best to make it a good experience.
Waited about 20 mins with no service at the bar, left with a few other people that I was not with, wasn't busy at all, they had 3 tables sat. Would have loved to try the food.
The service here was TERRIBLE, the actual sushi was okay not bad at all, but the place is overpriced. I eat sushi at least once a week and never have a $90.00 ticket. The waitress seemed a little bothered, the 3 times that she did come over to our table. There weren't very many people in the restaurant, so I'm not sure why she never came over we had to ask other servers for the things we needed. We ordered about 30 minutes after we arrived, due to the fact that the 1st time she came over we weren't ready to order yet, so she didn't come over for about 15 minutes. I asked for a small or regular order of fried rice and was charged $18 for it!!! It says open food on my ticket, when I asked the waitress what was the open food charge she informed me it was the rice. She was very rude and snotty the entire night. We also had a large party fee which was to be expected I guess, so instead of the tip she would have gotten, she just got the large group fee, you sold yourself short. I will never return to this restaurant, due to the staff. I should have read the reviews first as I normally do.
We’ve only been in Dallas for a day and this will probably be the worst place we’ve gone already. Atmosphere is very lackluster though the facility is nice. Food is beyond subpar. Korean Fried chicken Bao Bun is just nasty. And I wasn’t sure if the chicken was cooked. It says fried chicken but it was soggy. The Miso Ginger soup had a very flat muted taste that wasn’t pleasurable at all. Complete waste of money and we won’t be back. After we “finished” but didn’t finish our food we waited over 30 mins for the bill. And there were flies and gnats making guest appearances at our table over and over. I want my money and time back.
