We came to celebrate a birthday here and had a grand time! We had steaks and dessert, which were all exceptional, and they had a special that day for 50% off bottled wines. Highly recommend for a wonderful dining experience!
One of the best restaurants in Central New York. Cozy ambience. Excellent food. Great service. Chef Amir is gifted and creative; he even took the time to come to our table recently to chat with us. Margy and Jen are amazing servers: gracious, welcoming, and thoroughly professional. It is always a pleasure to dine here.
From the outside this is not what you would expect when you walk in, but we were pleasantly surprised. We ordered a 7oz filet minion, the mushrooms, and a burger with fries (both meat options medium rare) and the meals were fantastic! Prices are super reasonable, wine list amazing, impressive whiskey selection, and a great atmosphere. We will be back.
We had dinner in main dining room...not the Bistro. The guys had steaks which were outstanding, except one strip steak was over-cooked a bit. I had their vegetable lasagna...all from scratch...which was excellent. The salad bar and bread were wonderful. There's a large wood burning fire pit in the more casual Bistro. I would recommend either restaurant.
We sat by the fireplace tonight. We had Flatbread pizza with cheese and sauce, salmon with acorn squash and jasmine rice. We also had a bottle of LaPlaya. Everything was cooked perfectly. The service was good and the staff very helpful l.
Best Restaurant in Central New York!!! The food is fantastic, the service tremendous and the ambiance with the beautiful brick fireplace is amazing!! We’ve dined at the Scotch for almost 40 years and it’s just as good as ever. Thanks Tom for keeping your families tradition alive! Thanks also to Margie, Jen and Jack for making us feel so welcomed!!
Was in Syracuse on business tonight and had another incredible meal at Scotch & Sirloin. Food was great as always - love the way they stick with the classics and don't go for the latest fads. The atmosphere is one of a kind - the distressed wood, live fireplace smell, and signature touches like the towel napkins and the old school salad bar make the Scotch completely unique. Service was on the ball as well. I travel a ton for work and eat at steakhouses all over the world, and there is no place on the globe I more look forward to coming back to than Scotch & Sirloin. A true American original.
I never knew Scotch 'N Sirloin existed! My wife and I made reservations for an early valentine's. The atmosphere was very cozy with hints of romance. Couple and family friendly with delicious drinks by a fire while you wait for your dinner. The service was excellent and the food was beyond expectations. Sn'S is a must and we plan on coming back frequently and telling all we know.
Went for New Years eve dinner. Service was excellent, as was the food. Had the fillet was cooked perfectly. My companions both had seafood which was also very good.
A little bit on the pricier end but food was amazing!!! The salad bar was super fresh with a lot of salad topping you wouldn't expect, like artichoke hearts! Mmm! My medium rare ribeye was cooked and seared perfectly. The mashed potatoes were some of the best restaurant mashed potatoes I've ever had. It actually tasted like a potato and not instant potatoes. And the cheesecake was so creamy and good, with fresh (not frozen) strawberries. Definitely my new favorite restaurant!!!
We ate here for the first time this weekend and it won't be our last. Food and service was exceptional. Right after we finished our meals, our experience was negatively affected due to a circumstance completely outside of the restaurant's control. Despite bearing no responsibility for the situation, the staff did not hesitate to make it right, and then some, for us. We were impressed and look forward to a less eventful return.
It was my first time dining experience there and the food was outstanding! From the shrimp cocktail and calamari to the Diver scallops over rice. The rest of the group got steaks and they were all prepared perfectly. Our server was professional and attentive. Ambiance and drink/wine selection is fantastic as well. I can’t wait to go back!
The prefect spot for date night, or just a delightful meal! I cannot think of a single thing they could improve. Reservation is recommended but not required. As for the meal, my steak was cooked perfectly to order, fantastic selection of wine and spirits especially whiskey and scotch, best cheesecake I've ever had hands down, pleasant surprises such as complimentary ice cream with our desserts and the most attentive, professional and affable staff of any establishment.
Nothing beats a good meal by a roaring fire on a cold evening! Server and others were very attentive. I highly recommend the French Onion Soup. My husband's steak was delicious and my burger was flavorful!
With welcoming and friendly staff, dining here is a remarkably enjoyable experience. Each dish is absolutely bursting with flavor, and prepared to perfection. The atmosphere gives you a great feeling of comfort, and the setting is remarkable. From fair prices to the greatest steak fries you'll ever have, this place has it all. Finest establishment in town, 10/10
Been dining at this fabulous steak house since 1970. Love the atmosphere, food and service. The menu has changed and I miss the incredible salad bar that was included. With that said the chopped salad which you now have to pay for is outstanding. Please please bring back the dark rye bread.
Was the best steak I have ever had however it is on the pricey side but it was completely worth it in my opinion, the service was fast and good as they use multiple waiters for the same table.
Our servers were TOP NOTCH! We split the chopped salad for our appetizer ( which is meal in itself) and thoroughly enjoyed every bite! My Delmonico was tender and prepared to perfection. My wife's sirloin steak was delicious.
I love everything about Scotch and Sirloin. The food is delicious, the staff is phenomenal, and the ambiance is on point. Extra kudos to the bartender Jeremy. He remembers everyone’s face and their favorite cocktails. Absolutely love coming here!
Amazing Steak, escargot, best fries and cheesecake!!!! MUST GO!!
I go 1,maybe 2x year, it's always good, or they make it right. Great staff, never disappointed. I loved the salad bar they had pre covid.
I really liked this place. The atmosphere reminds one of an old world hunting lodge with hand hewn timbers and the smell of a real wood fire. Weathered copper, unique doors, and rough brick complete the interior design. The wait staff is well dressed and seem to attend the tables in a round robin fashion which was quite fine with me. Overall, the servers were both attentive and consistently polished in their presentation. We ordered a bottle of reasonably priced wine, and a $26 full-portion prime rib. The portions were immense. My prime rib was over 2" thick and was cooked exactly "rare" (ironically, a rarity in most steak houses). The sweet potato fries were forgettable, battered, and tended towards sogginess but the other sides looked better like the loaded baked potato. The desserts were pretty average looking though I did not have any. Established in 1967, Scotch 'n Sirloin has retained the flair of old school, "mad men" era fine-dining: very good atmosphere, and, most importantly, an outstanding steak.
My wife and I really enjoy coming the the Scotch especially when the weather gets cold and we can sit by the large fireplace in the bar. They make great cocktails and the steaks are always cooked perfectly. The chopped salad and the wedge salad are worth the trip on their own.
Love the fire pit. Food was outstanding. Service was great. Filet was cooked to perfection. Had an old fashioned that was amazing. Never disappointed.
The steak is perfectly done and the chicken Cordon Bleu is incredible. We had the chocolate silk pie for dessert and it was amazing. The service is friendly and the atmosphere is terrific as well. This is a top notch restaurant. Note: reservations are recommended as it can get busy.
Great experience here! We had a large party for dinner and the staff was excellent! I got an 11 oz filet and it was really good, not the best I’ve ever had but I’d give it a solid 7/10. The squash was amazing, some of the best I’ve ever had. Dessert was good and so was the setting. Overall a nice evening and I would definitely come back.
My husband and I were celebrating our anniversary. We wanted a good steak dinner and that is what we had. Steaks cooked perfectly, Medium rare! Steak fries are real potatoes cooked with a crispy outside. For dessert we had the peanut butter pie and this was delicious. Do not be discouraged by the outside. Food and service was great!
Jeremy, at the bar is absolutely outstanding. Food is amazing. The old fashioned is absolutely on point. While I don't crave a lot of red meat, when they do, this is the place I go.
Food always first rate as is the service. Atmosphere conducive to a quiet and relaxing dinner. The table next to us wasn't of that frame of mind which kind of took away from our dining experience since we heard more of their conversation than of ours. Our fault for not asking to be reseated. The team approach to making sure we had everything we wanted during our meal is a nice touch. A place for special occasions for sure.
The ambience and atmosphere here is absolutely beautiful, not to mention the smell when you walk in had me ready to eat!! The food was cooked perfectly, I got the Ribeye and my mother and father got the burger and rigatoni!! Amazing!! Not to forget our server(s) were attentive, knowledgeable and friendly!! And the chocolate expresso martini was the best I’ve ever had, even better than mine and I’m a mixologist too! 10/10 would highly recommend this place!
The steaks (rare and super rare) melt in your mouth. One of the best, if not the best, steaks I’ve had. All the sides including mashed potatoes, squash, sautéed mushrooms all had great flavor. The French onion soup was delicious and the escargot was better than places in France. One of my top recommendations for a great dinner in Syracuse.
We stopped off here without any expectations. The place was really nice on the inside and the staff actually gave us a quick tour around and found seating for us. We got a steak and a burger and both were perfectly cooked. They were also delicious. Definitely will be going back again. They also have a good whiskey collection.
I am just blown away after eating at this restaurant… Everything was made fresh and came out fast. The service was amazing. It’s such a warm environment where you feel well and wanted! The fire pit inside is genius! We had to go cheese baguettes for an appetizer and it’s the best goat cheese I’ve ever tried in my life! Was made exactly like we wanted the Prime rib is out of this world! We went for my husband‘s birthday and they brought out complementary ice cream, which was very nice and they also did not sing, which was also very nice!
Really delicious steak. All food was fantastic! Service was excellent Barn wood decor. Cozy despite how large the place is inside. Host knew the history of the restaurant and I appreciated that as well. I remember the Scotch 'n Sirloin in Binghamton/Vestal back in the day
Love love it . Great seats in front of fire pit . Couldn't be more cozy and romantic
It is very romantic. A little on the expensive side, but worth it. Their steaks are fantastic. If you like fruity alcoholic drinks I wouldn't recommend getting them there as their alcohol is very rich and strong. Aside from that the atmosphere is quiet and romantic, the service was amazing. The food I would every day if I could. Highly recommend. Fantastic for anniversary dinners!
I called to make a reservation one day prior to the dinner and was able to easily get the time I requested and I was even asked if the reservation was for a special occasion. I told her a birthday and one of the desserts we ordered came out with a candle in it for my dad. Food was delicious and service was great. Steak knives could have been sharper since the strip steaks we ordered were a bit tough to cut.
Food was great even for left overs. The ribeye stakes are a great portion size for those that eat a lot of meat.
When you want a restaurant where you can depend on the quality of the food and the excellence of the service, this is the place to go in Syracuse. The ambiance is great, and I have never been disappointed in my meal. If you are hungry, start with an appetizer such as their delicious French onion soup. Then visit the salad bar (see update below) where you will find excellent self-carved dark and light bread and fresh greens. Add-ons include artichoke hearts, beets, chickpeas, onions, pepperoncini, croutons and crumbled bacon. A variety of dressings is offered. They start preparing your entree only when you visit the salad bar, so you have plenty of time to enjoy your salad. The steaks are excellent and arrive cooked to the degree you requested. Their baked potatoes are always perfect. They offer a variety of desserts, but I always order the raspberry cream which has been on the menu since the '70s. I'm as susceptible as anyone else to trying the new restaurants in town, but I always go back the Scotch & Sirloin. POST PANDEMIC UPDATE: Unfortunately, the menu is much more limited than it was pre-pandemic. They no longer offer the top sirloin or the raspberry cream. The most regrettable loss is the salad bar. This is understandable in view covid, but instead of including a side salad with entrees, you now have to pay $10 or more for a salad, dispite the fact that the prices of entrees have been increased. The service and ambiance are still excellent, but we may not be dining at this restaurant as often as we have in the past. UPDATE-2: When my daughter returns to Syracuse, the first place she wants to go is this restaurant. It not only has great food but also great nostalgic value. UPDATE-3: The acorn squash is not what it used to be. I'd skip it. UPDATE-4: As is our custom, we went here for an early dinner on New Year's Eve with close friends. The service was not up to its normal standards. My friend ordered a glass of the house white wine. The waiter brought a glass of the house red. After the food was served, no one returned to our table to see if everything was okay. Unfortunately, everything was not okay. One of the dishes delivered was room-temp risotto with room-temp nearly-raw scallops. The recipient decided she would take the meal home and cook it as leftovers. Consequently, she spent the meal watching the rest of us eat. Halfway through my meal, I was able to catch the attention of our waiter and ask him to bring the ketchup and A1 sauce I had requested when I ordered. Obviously, this is not normal for this restaurant and may have been due to understaffing on a night when every table was taken. UPDATE-5: Return to the Scotch when my daughter returned to Syracuse for the holidays. I ordered a bowl of French onion soup and the top sirloin steak with french fries. My daughter had the large prime rib and my wife ordered a meatball appetizer and the scallop special. For the most part, we enjoyed our meals, but one glitch was that my wife had requested no salt added to her scallops because she's on a restricted salt diet. However they arrived quite salty.
Only sat in the bar area, the round fireplace is a wonderful, warm place to grab a great cocktail that is a wonderful atmosphere. Didnt stay for dinner, will give that a try next time. There were at least 6 other cars waiting in the parking lot for it to open, and the bar was immediately busy. Ill Def be back to try again for a steak.
We've been going to the Scotch n Sirloin since my father first took me in the 1980's. I haven't been there recently since about a year & a half & we saw a couple "less than 5star" reviews. Our anniversary was Saturday & Scotch was a first thought. I called for a reservation & he was friendly & asked if it was an occasion. I confirmed it was our 28th anniversary. Anyway, the service was great not just good. They were attentive wo hovering, a skill that most wait staffs should learn. We had a NY Strip special & prime rib & lobster...All medium and everything was cooked to perfection. After dinner we were getting ready to go(we passed on desert bc we ate everything) and out comes a sundae w a candle. Simple, small but perfectly thoughtful & discreet. We really appreciated that small simple gesture. For my money Scotch continues to be THE steakhouse in Syracuse, NY . Thanks Scotch!
Everything was delicious. Steaks cooked perfectly as I remember. Last one still open I think. Please don’t close this location. A lot of loyal customers in Buffalo are very sad we lost this restaurant. Now I will make the drive once a year with my family to support this one. Please support this place and keep it going! ❤️
My wife & I had an amazing dinner with steaks cooked to perfection! The atmosphere & waiter were excellent also. We sat in the Bistro area that encompasses a huge fire pit. I can just visualize in the winter time the heat that would put out. The decor in the restaurant is also very inviting & cozy. Highly recommend Scotch & Sirloin to all diners looking to have an enjoyable evening with a fantastic meal too! I post a must deserving 5 star review. We will be returning again soon for another enjoyable evening!😊
Our Scotch n Sirloin back in Buffalo closed a few years ago so we decided to make the trek here ! We had been to this location back in the late 80s when my wife went to school at SU… upon arrival it looked the same! I hope the current owners can do something about the tired and worn exterior and get rid of the artificial Christmas tree branches in the planter and tell the owner of the closed credit union next door to cut the lawn! We were hoping for better inside and it was! Stepped inside to a classic American steak house! Our steaks were cooked perfectly! My wife got the 7oz filet and I got the 16oz bone in ribeye- both super tasty. The accompanying sauces were an added bonus! Baked potato and green beans performed and hot upon arrival. Wine list is substantial and varied prices and selections. Service was excellent- attentive and friendly. Owners please fix up the exterior of the building!!!! You wouldn’t want to discourage people from coming in!!!
High end steak house with a somewhat limited menu. We sat inside in the dining room, but they offered outdoor seating along with a lounge option. Very extensive liquor menu. Although we were there to celebrate Lisa's birthday, neither of us sampled the liquor. When I made the reservation the gentleman asked if we were celebrating anything, and I told him. The picture on this review is of the lovely dessert they brought us. It looks like a flower. It was vanilla and mint chocolate chip ice creams with whipped cream, and delicious. We both had beef options - the sirloin for me, and the filet for her. Both were perfectly cooked and drained just right. Lisa reports that the mashed potatoes that accompanied her dish were the best she's ever had, and I had to agree. I chose the steak fries, which were wedges, and also fantastic. To start we had the French onion soup, also delicious - not too salty with just the right amount of onions. In a romantic twist, we went there 19 years ago for our first date. Highly recommend. Dinner for two, with soup but no drinks was a little more than $100, but worth every penny.
The food was excellent. The service could have been better. The team of servers seemed very bothered when asked questions and during a conversation at my table (that sat 8 of us) a male server was listening in and was rolling his eyes while making despicable facial expressions. As soon as he saw that 2 of us noticed it he did not come back to our table. The bus boy at the salad bar was so helpful and pleasantly polite. I would definitely come back for the food. I just hope the attitude of the servers changes. And they use their manners while reaching over my plate to get my empty glass Update: WONDERFUL! SERVERS WERE AWESOME!!! DESSERT (CHOCOLATE PB PIE) WAS GREAT!!!
My husband and I went here for our first anniversary, and it was lovely! My husband got the teriyaki steak (delicious!) with sweet potato fries (done to perfection!) and chocolate peanut butter pie for dessert (so peanut buttery!). I got the linguini primavera (so flavorful!) and the creme brulee for dessert (ahh SO good!). The lighting was somewhat on the dark side, but our table was lit by its own overhead lamp, as many of the tables are, which was very helpful. I, for one, enjoyed the mood lighting. We let them know it was our anniversary ahead of time and they gave us a sweet little dessert with candles on it and the words “happy anniversary”, which was so nice! The staff were very pleasant and extremely helpful, especially with all the questions and requests we had! 😂 I would definitely recommend this restaurant!
Atmosphere is like an Adirondack blend and it's between casual and formal. Mostly casual. It took a very long time for someone to take our order after getting water. Probably 30 mins into receiving the water did the orders get placed. The food was delicious, simple and high quality. Pricy of course but a good special occasion date.
The atmosphere is dark with a 1970's feel. Burgers were cooked as requested. The fries weren't crispy. Our server was friendly, but forgot to bring ketchup and mayonnaise with our food. We waited several minutes for the condiments to arrive. Our ice cream Sunday desserts were mostly liquid.
I had a very nice dinner with my lovely daughter on a cold night, we were traveling and decided to stop. They were able to sit us immediately, and the ribeye was cooked to perfection
We've been here before (every year for my husband's birthday) and had a fine time, but our last visit was incredibly disappointing service. We felt forgotten much of the night, even waiting more than 15 minutes in an empty room for someone to run my credit card. I would have let it go as an off night (even though for the $$$$ it really should be better), but I read other comments here about poor service recently as well.
We were right next to the ordering area for the servers so it was a little loud but the atmosphere was still nice. The food is good but somewhat overpriced for what you get, especiallythe appetizers. Chopped salad was really good. Drinks were great. There are better steak places in the area for less money but I think it was still worth trying once. Steak was really good though.
The steak was cooked to perfection—tender, juicy, and packed with flavor. I had the filet mignon, and it was one of the best I’ve had. The sides, like the mashed potatoes and creamed spinach, were excellent and complemented the steak well. The service was top-notch, with attentive staff who made the experience even more enjoyable. The atmosphere was elegant yet relaxed, making it a great spot for a special evening out. It's a bit on the pricier side, but definitely worth it for the quality of the food and service.
The food was good, but my prime rib was over cooked. Also, if you want a vegetable with your meal, you need to pay extra. The wait staff was phenomenal 👏
Atmosphere was great. Started with oysters on half shell & escargot & Wedge salad before our entrees. I ordered a bone-in ribeye steak that was good, but not "aged" good. Somewhat tough to be honest. But tasty. Our desserts, cheesecake and pecan pie were mediocre at best. Would I go again though? Yes.
Place doesn’t look like much from outside but the inside has a really cool almost medieval vibe. Steak was great and the beer was cold. Price was pretty high, but the service was great. Definitely worth a try.
Absolutely love the ambiance and atmosphere of this establishment! This first time I went was for my 32nd birthday I ordered the grilled chicken and tiger shrimp pasta in a white wine sauce, terrible and an outstanding lobster tail, my spouse ordered the Filet Mignon and lobster tail which was superb. The second was for my 33rd birthday I ordered grilled Faroe Island salmon which was disappointing to say the least. So we'll just stick with the steak and lobster.
Unfortunately, Scotch has gone consistently downhill in the past few years. We go at least a couple times per year, giving it another shot, and leave feeling like the experience was decent or worse. Tonight was sadly worse. We started off right with a nice table, greeted promptly, appetizers came within a reasonable amount of time, Caesar salad was great. Those were the highlights. Thai calamari was a good flavor but not crisp, at all. I ordered the halibut special, which was ok, not nearly enough chimichurri sauce , the fish was pretty dry, and the curried rice tasted and looked like Rice-a-Roni. My date ordered a 11oz filet, medium, it came out almost rare. When the server came back to check on us, she took his steak back to the kitchen to cook longer and didn't offer an ounce of an apology. We waited forever for our entrees and not one of our servers said a word about a delay or offered anything while we waited. Definitely will be our last visit; there are too many other great restaurants in CNY that offer much better food and service.
We were a birthday party ok f seven. The round table was set for eight. We asked if one place setting and chair could be removed. The wait staffer responded as if we were speaking a foreign language. I thought that maybe he does not get paid to assist the diners. One person in our party ordered prime rib. He informed the wait staff that his meat was very tough...could not be cut with a knife. They offered a different steak. It was better, but did not come to the table until all others were finished with their meals. Just not the same great scotch and sirloin.
The food was excellent, but the waitress asked for more tip she said she get 20%. But we gave her 20% but on the amount before tax. We had a great time up to that point. It does say 20% gratuity is required if there is a party of 10 or more. There was only 4 of us. It put a damper on a good dinner to be told we didn't give enough tip.
We use to go here often before Covid, I think this is the first time we’ve been back since… and I have to say it’s lost something. The steak was good, but it’s disappointing that they never brought the salad bar since we are post-Covid. The salad bar made it special. And the waiters were all really nice but when I said something about the kids burgers were bloody and our 7 year old was grossed out, he didn’t take the dish off the menu. I was a bit surprised they didn’t offer or just do it. It’s not like we didn’t get drinks and dessert, so we were not being cheap… I just think all these little things add up. Not sure when I’ll be back, but not till they bring back some of the quality they once had… too much money to not provide those extras… I would even pay extra for the salad bar and fresh bread, just bring it back!
We were warmly welcomed by Jack! He’s amazing. Let us pick between the bistro and dining room. We came for our wedding anniversary and sat in the Bistro side. Mackenzie was our server and she was welcoming- however it was awkward to watch the two servers flirt/basically be on top of each other while getting semi-decent service. It made us uncomfortable and we’re all for workplace romances, (it happened to us haha) but if you’re going to do that- do it in the kitchen, away from the customers! We had the teriyaki steak which was chewy and the filet which was good but season that thing up!!!!! They finished our meal with a cute ice cream and a candle desert which was super sweet. Overall, food took forever, service halfway decent, vibe is AMAZING but needs the service to back it up!!!!!
Good customer service, very attentive. The menu is quite small, with a self serving salad bar, which was not that great. The salad bar area was cluttered, with passing traffic including wait staff and customers. Actual dinner took a little while to come, mashed potatoes were kind of bland and steak was ok.
The place reeks of a restaurant resting on its laurels from some degree of probably pre-pandemic greatness. The signature salad bar is gone. Food was overcooked and they actually served the wrong number of shrimp versus what was advertised on the menu and came out at about six dollars per shrimp. They warned us to be there, which we were, with plenty of time to order but then took 16 minutes for anyone to even recognize us at the table and started breaking down the kitchen more than half an hour before they’re posted kitchen closing time. The service was marginal; the food was marginal; all in all, it was rather disappointing for the nearly $200 with tip that we paid for three people. We felt like nobody could care less about us and our being there.
I hadn't been to the Scotch in probably 5 or 6 years. Decided to take myself out to dinner as I had been craving sliders. When I get the menu no sliders, ok no biggie. I ordered the roast beef sub and fries. The sub was amazing. The fries were not only cold but they were limp and wet, as if they had been cooked the day before and put into the fridge. Since the fries were half of the meal (nice big portion of course) I can only give two stars for the food. The service is always good and the ambiance hasn't changed and should never change.
Service and atmosphere was great. Prices and food itself was mid. Potatoes were served cold. For the price we paid for the dishes I was expecting more. Porterhouse wasn't horrible but wasn't the best steak I've had.
Server was good, well made cocktail and the company was good as we had a night out with friends. Unfortunately the food left little to be desired. It's one thing if your meal doesn't meet expectations and another when you also way over pay for that meal.
We just went here for a birthday dinner and were sorely disappointed. The bar and drinks were good, leaving us looking forward to a good meal. The service took quite some time with at least 15 to 20 minutes just to get the drink order placed. The team of waiters finally took our order after a substantial wait and spirits were still good because of the company. Of the 4 pieces of red meat ordered, one end cut of prime rib, 2 filets, and one ribeye...the end cut had no visible or perceived seasoning, and the two filets and ribeye were cooked to medium to medium well vs. the medium rare ordered. Of those orders, two baked potatoes were ordered. I specifically stated no sour cream as I cannot have it. Another member of the party gave her order as well as far as the baked potato goes. The dinners finally came out and, as said before, the met was overdone, the female never got her baked potato, and my potato was not as ordered ((had sour cream, which I asked to be excluded, 3 visible chives, no cheese(which I did ask for) and no butter.) The female asked where her potato was and the writer's response was, "I forgot to put it in and now we are all out, I will look into it." We never saw him revisit our table again. I spoke with the host and discussed the issues that we were having. He acknowledged that we were there for a special occasion and said that he would look into it. I stated that I was not looking for a discount, but was only stating my disappointment of the meal/service. I did not see our server or the host again. While we were leaving and in the parking lot, was approached by other diners from the night that said they had similar experience and were happy that I was actually talking to the host about the service and the food. I/we will never back. Only saving grace was the bartender. To top it all off, the chef made his rounds after I spoke with the host, but would not speak to our table. (Not Karens-just looking for a good meal)
Everything up until the main dish was perfect. Great service, appetizers, and salad bar. Main courses came and my boyfriends steak was already cold and my dish was the least bit enjoyable. The "lobster pieces" in the pasta were absolutely awful, did not taste anything like lobster. Once our meals came, no one came to ask us how our meal was until we were "done". Very disappointed, will not go back.
I'm being nice w 2 stars cuz the cuts of meat r good, too bad they ruined them. Meat overcooked, no seasoning and I'm mean not even a pinch of salt. The shrimp , absolutely flavorless , no seasoning , salt or anything. I used to come here quite often about 15 yrs ago. I will never be back , what a waste of $150. Waitress never returned , was never asked if I needed a refill for my drink and my silverware was filthy , I mean what the hell happened to this place, it's truly sad
Disappointed. Been there once and it was great; very good value. However this time, ordered the bone-in ribeye, rare. It was cooked rare on the inside, but the outside was cold as if it were sitting waiting for pickup and there was very little sear to it. Had to send it back--only 2nd time ever sending anything back. They ran out very quickly under the broiler (or quickly warmed it up, but was still cold in a couple of spots. As a steakhouse, it was a "you had one job" moment. Disappointed. My family ordered filet, sirloin, and scallops and they were cooked correctly.
First and foremost I want to establish that this was my first visit to this establishment. I absolutely loved the rustic atmosphere. However, the service was mediocre and the food was subpar and overpriced. I ordered a 16oz ribeye med-well and it took 30 min to get to us. It was raw. Not rare, raw. I sent the steak back and they put the same steak back on the grill. I don’t know what they did but the steak came back burnt to a crisp and tasted of charcoal. Thought maybe 3rd times the charm, wrong. Got a med-rare steak. Took that home and will cook it myself. I was not charged for the rare steak but I was for the second steak. I do not believe after waiting over an hour to eat my steak and having 3 failed attempts at cooking to med-well that I should have to pay for that $50 steak. That is a personal opinion and one that most restaurants share. In the end, I ate a potato and my wife her overpriced scallop and risotto dish and it cost me $120. I will not be returning to this establishment.
4 of us went to dinner, 2 got steak, 1 got salmon and 1 got the chicken with shrimp on pasta. Both steaks were somewhat warm, sides were cold. Salmon was asked to be lightly cooked and was small and well done. Pasta dish was fine. Waitress asked how our meal was and was told that the sides were cold. She asked what we would like her to do? I can say that none of the 4 of us will be going to dinner there in the near future!!!
Thanks to Covid it had been a long time since my husband and I had a date night, so I was excited to learn that he had made a reservation for us at Scotch 'N Sirloin since we have had a number of enjoyable experiences there in the past. Things started off good - we were seated promptly and staff was friendly (albeit a bit inexperienced). I was disappointed that the salad bar was no longer, but figured that due to the pandemic they would probably just include a premade salad with the meal. They didn't. Our steaks were cooked well and tasted great, but I can't believe that for the price we paid all we got was a steak and 1 side! We ordered dessert, and my husband's pecan pie was delicious. My lemon tart however tasted like fish! When the waitress came over to check on us, she left the check and asked if we wanted to box the dessert. When we told her about the problem with the dessert, she apologized and took it away with no offer to bring another or to adjust the check. This outing that was meant to be a special treat turned into a big disappointment. We could have gone to one of the national chains, had better food and service, and paid 1/3 of the price. :(
Went here for my Mom's birthday about a month ago (she chose). Positives - Friendly staff and they gave my mom a free dessert for her birthday Negatives - Overpriced, not that great tasting, all the awards they hang up all over their walls are older than a decade ago, and I only got 6 french fries with my already small sized fish & chips meal. It was my first time there and probably never going back.
I'm not one to leave a poor review but this place was just not very good... The menu is very limited and overpriced. For reference a Strip steak is $48 and a simple burger is $21. Maybe I could accept the cost if the food was amazing but it wasn't. I ordered a chicken cordon bleu ($27) and it tasted like it had been fried at the bottom of months old used oil. The rice had an identical taste and came out looking like mashed potatoes. The wait staff were ok but it took over 28min for the food to arrive with only about 6 tables being served.
Have been going to S&S for years whenever we come into town because of (historically) great food, cozy atmosphere. Service was terrible - our server took our order then chatted with multiple people at the bar, ignoring my empty glass, salad brought by another server, but then plate sat finished with no one clearing it. Steaks were overdone, likely because they sat for a while since wait time seemed excessive considering the restaurant did not seem that busy including half full parking lot. Butter and SC on potato not enough for size of potato. Food might have been acceptable except it was grossly overpriced for service and quality. Disappointed to say the least. We’ve always loved it.
Scotch & Sirloin. For a long time one of my favorite restaurants. Not so after tonight. Got there at 5:15 for a 6:00 reservation. Host asked if we’d like to be seated. No, we’re having a drink in the bar first. At 5:53 I told the host we were ready to be seated. “You’re reservation is for 6:00. We will page you.” 4 minutes later we were paged. The restaurant was, maybe, half full. There is no longer a salad bar. I ordered a Caesar salad with anchovies. OK, there were 2 baby anchovies and almost no dressing. The sautéed mushrooms were flavorless. One steak had to be sent back. I couldn’t get bok choy with my steak teriyaki unless I had mashed potatoes, but I could get broccoli. What?! My steak was good. The broccoli was flavorless and cool. On the way out I stopped to complain to the host. He threatened to, then made, a fake call to 911. Needless to say, I’ll never go back. But, the drinks were excellent.
For the last 15 years our group has a Holiday meal here. Very nice a before dinner drink at the fireplace. Then dinner every year been top notch. Last year service and prime rib not so. Checked resent review I guess we need to find some other place. Suspect this will be another failed restaurant. Too bad
I used to love the scotch. My steak was undercooked after I asked for it well done and mentioned to our waiter that the chef should butterfly the steak as they're normally relatively thick. As soon as I saw it wasn't butterflied I knew there was no way it was done the way I asked Two drink orders were wrong and one person in our party never got soup as they had ordered. Our waiter took our order and we never saw him again. It was someone different every time. I'm not normally a complainer but we did and it clearly fell on deaf ears. Never saw a manager once. Not worth the money any more. Only reason they got one star was that they carry my favorite beer. Such a shame.
I’ll start by saying that this is a beautiful place, and when they get your food correct, they’re fantastic. Now that we have that out of the way, they’ve never brought me my food correct the first time yet in 4 visits. I always get the same thing; 16oz ribeye medium rare, fries. Always comes out cold and well done the first time. Usually the second time they get it right, and put fries are fresh. Not today. We’re on my 3rd steak and fries(2nd was cold and frites had a long blonde hair in it), and my wife is on her second. Of course this happens on our 22 year anniversary. I’m afraid this will be our last visit here, but we’ll try to actually finish dinner here tonight.
As greeted rudely at the door. Waited forever for service. Waited even longer once we were seated. Food took forever. Multiples orders were wrong. I ordered a prime rib medium rare and got an end cut that had zero pink. I was told my meal would be free but I was charged for it and my dispute was denied by the restaurant. It has almost been a year and I still haven't seen the money that I told would be coming back. The worst experience that I have ever had at a restaurant and will never be back. Hopefully I see the $225 I am owed at some point!
We have dined at this previously wonderful restaurant many times but no more! We had reservations yet had to wait for over twenty minutes and it was not crowded. No one came over with menus for a long time - drinks were never refilled- they served four slices of bread fro a table of three- they served the salad with the meal , not before the meal. The flavor of the steak was good but the service and time waiting when they were not busy was deplorable! This restaurant has declined so much that there are no words to describe it. Never again! No where near worth the money ! You are better off at a Texas Roadhouse !
This restaurant was an utter disappointment. Thursday did not have my choice of appetizer or entree. This was q birthday celebration and this was never acknowledged by the staff. Food was underwhelming and service was not great. I am in q wheelchair and at no time did any staff offer any assistance either going in or coming out.
Since the Pandemic, everything that was good about the Scotch is gone. No salad bar, Oily steaks, no bread offering, 1/3rd higher prices and the Worst service I've ever experienced. We all work so hard for our money and it shouldn't be wasted on poorly prepared food, bad service and high prices. The place I loved so much for many years is sadly No more! Save your money and stomach and eat elsewhere.
High-end prices, Average food, Below-average service Ordered bone-in ribeye which was served 1/2" thick and without the bone. Came out over-cooked due to thickness (served medium-well, ordered medium-rare) and barely seasoned. Very disappointing, won't be going back.
The practice of four different people waiting on your table sucks because they all assume the others are taking care of you and no one is. One in our party received their meal 15 minutes after the rest. The food was not worth the cost. For the price everything should be excellent. We will not be returning 👎
If i could give this place a 0 I would, Food was okay but I definitely could’ve went somewhere else. First off food had to be sent back from multiple guests due to being cold. Nothing was really explained on such little menu. And then when it came to checks , 10 guests in total ,we split our bills. We had to send multiple checks back MULTIPLE TIMES. A waiter that was not our waiter stopped us from going out the door as if we skipped out on our entire bill when in fact we paid. We had to send our checks back multiple times due to him not being able to get our checks correct. After a half hour -45 minutes “it finally was resolved “ But we ended up having to pay for an extra check that their waiter failed to fix in order for us to leave the building. The waiter proceeded to tell us that we were wrong. My card was continuously charged after they gave us 2 different prices of what we quote on quote owed. Our initial waiter would not come to explain or resolve the issue. It definitely could be a better establishment if they could get it more organized
I showed up 5 minutes early with my gf 19 me 18. The host was nice and seated us in a corner. The host was a younger kid who was in my high school. The waitress (~45) with her crazy plastic surgery handed us menus and immediately asked us about appetizers and we said we didn’t know yet and her follow up was to ask us what we wanted to eat when we haven’t even opened the menus. She had an attitude about her that said she wanted us gone from the restaurant from the start. She came back every 2 minutes to ask us what we wanted to eat until we had decided 10 minutes later. Once we got the food, my top serloin was tougher than a grandma in a biker bar. Was obviously put on the back of the grill, burnt on the outside and definitely not medium rare. The guy who brought out the food (~42) seemed like he really didn’t want to be talking to us and dropped the food and left with minimal words. Me and my date got curious as to if the waitress was just having a bad night but she seemed very interested in the other older customers in the restaurant even asking them about topics in their conversations that she had walked up on. She asked us how our food was going which is standard and she had a scowl, I obviously don’t want to be a Karen and tell her it’s bad so I said good and she just walked away without even saying that’s great. That was the last time we talked to her, a younger woman (~22) came to get our plates with a smile and kindness and brought our check. I always loved coming here as a kid but now that I went for the first time without my family I do think there was age discrimination. Younger people tip too, I normally give 20% but for the service I was given I gave 65 dollars to cover a 61.58 bill. I feel it was deserved. Will not be returning.
Very disappointed in our food and quality of meat. I acknowledge we arrived late to our reservation. But the chef clearly sent us a message. We asked if it was too late to be seated (8:15) I would have preferred to have been told no then receive the quality of food served. Ordered 2 NY strips, medium rare. Served blue, one of them very tough with lots of gristle. We debated sending them back because I hate to be that kind of customer but they were too blue. Still on the cusp of rare upon returned from the grill. Wife had me finish cooking hers at home. I called the following day to mention this feedback and overall the owners responce took no value in the feedback and largely ignored the feedback due to “we are an old school steakhouse.” Not my first steakhouse, sir…. He offered a gift certificate - but was not seeking compensation. I refused as there is no need to revisit this establishment- a vestige of a steakhouse that once carried a name. Many other note worthy steakhouse around town. That being said waitstaff, bartender, and atmosphere is on point, but not worth $200 for two for a tough steak and cold potatoes. Picture is steak after being sent back.
