We were a walk in and I absolutely love a Jamie Oliver restaurant! So very happy to find this and wow so pleased we popped in. We had the bread and olives followed by beautifully cooked, flavourful steaks. Perfect glass of red to go with it. Everything from the welcome to the food and exceptional service from Victor was exceptional. Such a relaxing and kind environment. Thank you and thank you Victor for making our meal such a pleasure.
Wow! One of our absolute favorites, and love to travel annd eat great food. Bol Au Vent, (chicken and mushroom w puff pastry) was amazing! Beef tortellini was unBELIEVABLE. Don’t think of getting a steak! Scallops in their own shell with seasoned breadcrumbs+, tender and lots of flavor.. Sticky Toffee Pudding, so good. We are in Ireland for 4 nights and may have to go back a 2nd time. Would recommend to anyone looking for an upscale change of pace from traditional Irish food. This place is a gem!
I have never been in the restaurant like this before. Amazing thats absolutely not enough word to express the way how is there. Food absolutely delicious you can feel all the flavours in every single dishes. Staff absolutely professional. Atmosphere magic and this bar OMG looks gorgeous. They even taking your jackets before you sit. I was feeling there like a queen 👸 Thank you so much for an amazing experience and food orgasm.
Welcome back Jamie!!!!’ Great setting, amazing food, and fantastic staff. Luke was brilliant, couldn’t have done more for us. Love the menu, especially the throw-back classics, chicken vol-au-vent (delicious), Scotch Egg (fab) and the shrimp cocktail (next time). The crab linguine was amazing, and the introduction of fennel just elevated it. Ah. Loved it and will be back for sure.
Wonderful experience, especially with Bianca as our server, she was super friendly and pleasant to talk to. Food was delicious. Scotch egg appetizer was superb. For entrees I had the fillet and my girlfriend had the market fish special which was monkfish and prawns. Both were perfectly cooked and tasted great. Would recommend to anyone.
While it has a well known name behind, you can never be sure that it will meet expectations with a large family like mine. Well, it very easily exceeded expectations. Opening with a great potato soup with sourdough bread, then on to great entrees like Irish Steak, Tortellini, Monk fish and chicken, finishing with great desserts. And the Old Fashions we're most excellent. Of course, without the great service from Dara, it would not have meant much. What a treat!!!
I had a wonderful experience at this restaurant for Valentine’s Day with my partner. The welcome was impeccable, and the place itself is absolutely beautiful. Everything went smoothly from start to finish. The food was excellent, with perfectly cooked dishes that showcased high-quality ingredients. While the prices are a bit on the higher side, they are completely justified by the quality of the experience. Overall, it was a fantastic evening, and I would definitely recommend this place for a special occasion!
Six of us were here for a birthday dinner on a Saturday night. It seems to be a popular spot for birthdays! Even though it was a Saturday night and the restaurant was full, it didn't feel crowded or loud at all. The atmosphere was really nice - great ambiance with the background music, but still easily able to chat. The seats were very comfortable. The staff were very helpful. I had the scallops, which were lovely. I saw some reviews about the garlic crumb overwhelming the natural flavour of the scallops, but I disagree. The sticky toffee pudding was lovely too. My new favourite dinner spot - I'll definitely be back!
What an amazing experience. We just spent one day in Dublin and we decided to go to this restaurant. What a great choice! The people are so friendly and it felt very cozy being there. The waiter was very attentive and polite. I asked him his recommendation and he didn't fail as their chicken was a delight! Our son enjoyed his burger! The dessert was great to finish off but hands down to them for making amazing old fashioned! its whiskey drink is made with honey and beeswax and rooibos...really a delightful drink. Thank you for your hospitality and if we comeback or have friends coming to Dublin we will be recommending Chequer Lane!
We had a wonderful meal at Jamie Oliver’s Chequer Lane — three delicious courses. There a good variety for everyone on the menu. We started with breads and olives to nibble on, then enjoyed starters of baked scallops and the Scotch egg — both beautifully done. Our mains (fish, duck, and steak) were all cooked to perfection, and the sides complemented them perfectly. Desserts were a real highlight —chocolate mousse, vanilla panna cotta, and warm apple and raspberry crumble each one excellent. There’s a great drinks selection too — highly recommend the signature poitín negroni and the Irish Cream. We had a reservation that was able to be brought forward and the table was in a quiet area of the restaurant. There’s a lovely atmosphere in restaurant and variety of seating. Lovely food, relaxed atmosphere, and friendly service — definitely worth a visit!
We made a reservation for a Sunday evening, to celebrate my birthday. It was absolutely low-key and chill. The wait staff was welcoming and kind and offered perfect suggestions for wine and entrees. We did the pre fixe three course menu and it was delightful. My husband must have let the staff know that it was a birthday, because once we completed our first round of dessert, they surprised me with a scoop of ice cream with a candle and singing. It was absolutely unnecessary, and yet wonderfully delightful. Thanks to the kind staff for making a middle-aged birthday quite cherishable.
I visited Chequer Lane by Jamie Oliver in Dublin for dinner, and the food was superb and amongst the best that I had during my time in the city. While there wasn't a dedicated gluten-free menu provided, my server talked me through the options and all the staff members had great knowledge of what I could and couldn't eat, I opted for the steak, which was served with a fresh garlic butter, the steak was delicious, had so much flavour and was cooked perfectly, and didn't even need any extra sauce, the fries again were so good, they were fresh, tasty and all the flavours had delivered. My only disappointment was in my cocktail - it was overloaded with ice and was almost like a slush. The other members of my party were also pleased with their food. The vibes inside the restaurant were really nice too - it felt premium yet with a modern twist so it didn't feel pretentious and you wouldn't feel out of place coming in after spending the day sightseeing around Dublin, it was that perfect combination. I'd return to Dublin alone for that steak!
We had a wonderful dinner at Chequer Lane! Everything from the warm welcome to the final Irish coffee was top-notch. The Steak Frites was perfectly cooked, the Fish & Chips crispy and flavorful, and the Carlingford oysters were a real highlight. The service was impeccable, friendly and attentive without being intrusive. You can really feel the quality and care in every dish. Desserts were just as impressive — the Apple Crumble was comforting and delicious, and the Irish Coffee was the perfect way to finish the meal. Excellent value for money with VAT clearly included — a true Dublin gem that blends fine dining with a relaxed atmosphere. Highly recommended! 👏🍽️🇮🇪
We were not disappointed. A rather classic menu with fresh ingredients. The service was friendly and attentive although some miscommunication between staff as different waiters came to our table 3 times to take the food order when we specifically asked to give us 10-15 minutes to enjoy our espresso martini cocktails.
We were greeted by a very nice young man called Victor who not only served us but brought us on a food journey through a night of fabulous food and drinks in a beautifully decorated restaurant with a great atmosphere. Honestly the food was exceptional from starter to dessert. This place has the Jamie Oliver name but I was not expecting it to be so fabulous. The staff contributed to make our experience even more special. I cannot recommend it highly enough. We will be returning very soon.
Phenomenal!!! Excellent!! Amazing! All words to describe the daily fish specials, the staff and the atmosphere. Thank you Drogal for offering the specials and the delicious dessert! The sticky toffee was an absolute delight and finished off the meal and evening wonderfully. So many enjoyable flavors. A special thank you to Jerry for allowing me to wait while they opened for the day. Well worth the wait! Thank you! When I come back to Dublin, this will be a must lunch or dinner for me!
Extraordinary. Great and attentive service. Fantastic food and at a reasonable price for Dublin. Drinks were high quality and not expensive. My €14 Negroni was expertly made and a good range of wine at a budget to suit all. Surroundings and vibe make this a real treat.
Really enjoyed a first visit to Chequer Lane for a birthday treat. We had the roast chicken and Cod and both were delicious. Portions were generous and the desserts were great too. Panna cotta and Crumble to finish off. We found the staff to be really attentive and friendly. Left you alone but were there when you were ready. Extra points for such a good range of gluten-free options.
We happened upon this fantastic place and would highly recommend. The food was phenomenal and the staff had the most perfect recommendations. Do not miss when in Dublin!
This place offers you a cozy atmosphere, delicious food, and a convenient location in the heart of the city. The restaurant is quite popular, so it’s always busy, and you’ll likely encounter a queue, especially during peak hours. When we arrived without a reservation, one of the waitresses initially told us that seating wouldn’t be possible. However, another staff member kindly asked us to wait while he checked the availability, and to our surprise, he managed to find us a table. This thoughtful service left a positive impression, and we appreciated the effort. Overall, despite the crowd and the wait, the experience was enjoyable, and the quality of food made it worth it. I would recommend making a reservation in advance if you want to avoid waiting. Great spot for a tasty meal in a welcoming setting!
Service was fantastic, had cocktails and lunch here. Food was prepared to perfection and our waiter was great. Even recommended a very cool drink!!
Great place to come and eat. No problems to find a bigger table for 6. Food delicious, fish, meat, soup, all just great! 👏🥰🇮🇪❤️
I loved this place, a beautiful ambient, very tentative and friendly waiter. The food was amazing, perfect sizes and tasty flavors. Even though we didn't have a booking, they squeezed me and my friend in. Highly recommend.
This restaurant was amazing! The staff was very friendly. The atmosphere was great. And the food really blew my mind. I have loved tomato soup since I was a kid and their tomato soup was both classic and transformative at the same time! Wonderful and great value for the quality.
Where to start? The food was just so good. The aged ribeye was grilled to perfection. The chips, the bearnaise sauce, the salad....it all belonged together. Very balanced. Also no seasoning required. The taste was on point. The desserts! My cousin had the warm Apple and blackberry crumble wich was very good. But.....the combination of a black sticky toffee and irish coffee would be the reason to come again. Soooo good. Our waiter Joe did an excellent job. Just the right combination of professionalisme with a sprinkle of Irish humour. Chequer Lane i'll come back again.
The service & food were fabulous. I would definitely recommend eating here. Victor was an excellent waiter!
As an interior designer, I would highly recommend removing the hanging Ivy from the metal tracks in the main dining room. You are drawing the eye to items we would rather blend into the background. The fake greenery above the door is fine as well as the boarder of the main window. Otherwise, it was absolutely lovely. Feel free to reach out if you need a new interior designer. Cheers! FYI, my son Oliver insisted we come for lunch with his dad Jamie.
Last Sunday over several un-rushed hours we had a family lunch for 10 people at Chequer Lane. To say that the lunch was the best experience ever would be an understatement. From the outstanding food and drinks to the absolutely fantastic staff, I am struggling to think of an area for improvement. It was a really a special experience. Even though the restaurant seemed completely full, the service was perfect, and the staff were equally caring and accommodating to the young kids and to their older grandmother. Not much I can say about the food other that it was incredibly good. Highly recommend this restaurant and we all can't wait to go back. Also - reservation process was simple and efficient.
Had a beautiful meal here for my wife's Christmas party. The steak was one of the best I've ever had. Waiter was fantastic and recommended a really good wine to pair with it. Food was well paced despite it being really busy. Great experience! 👏
The food, in particular the squid and steak frites were excellent, the chocolate mousse was incredible. The service was perfect, friendly, professional and no detail missed. Looking forward to going again and would highly recommend to friends.
I have gone to many wonderful restaurants in Europe and Chequer Lane is in the top of best restaurants. The service was impeccable. Waiter was very helpful in recommending food options. The food was outstanding. We had the best Scotch Eggs for appetizer, our mains were Shrimp and Crab Linguini, and Roasted Duck, for dessert we had Sticky Toffy Pudding. Every piece of the meal was top notch and was perfectly cooked and seasoned.
Our group of 5 stopped in on Dec 4, for a drink after a day of sightseeing around Dublin, without a reservation and the staff could not have been more accommodating. The restaurant was filled with holiday dinners and parties but the manager found us a table where we could sit and have a drink for an hour or so before the next reservation came in. As we had our drinks and saw the food going to other diners, we decided to see if there was any possibility of snagging a dinner table. Again, the manager could not have been more accommodating, and found us a great table. We enjoyed our meals and had a wonderful evening!
Lovely ambience. Relaxed service and a friendly, attentive service from our server, Melinda K. She was the best. My crab toast contained two large pieces of cartliage/shell. Unfortunately, I swallowed the first piece. Our server was concerned, and actually showed the evidence of this to the Chef. There was no more she could have done and she was absolutely charming. I was surprised though that when the bill was presented, the crab toast was still charged, at full price. Nice pasta. Very rich. Very generous portions. Baked scallops were delicious. This is quite an expensive restaurant. However, it's in the centre of Dublin, so not surprised to pay over 100 Euros for the two starters, two pastas, one coffee and one glass of wine. We would return.
The food was really delicious, as were the wines and my (decaf) espresso martini. Service was excellent, the servers are really nice and know what they are serving. What I thought was a bit weird, is that I got a dress code with my reservation (smart casual), but that there were people inside in training pants and with baseball caps on. I got dressed accordingly, but these people clearly did not. Why even bother to send a dress code to your guests, when you're not going to maintain it? 4/5 stars for not maintaining the dress code.
C’mon, fake flowers? Had the Poteen Negroni, which is the only way Poteen can be consumed - rough! The attentive service, sourdough bread and the super-fresh produce in the Irish Summer Salad saved this experience from disaster.
Food was good but I didn’t think it was anything spectacular. However, the service was exceptional - really friendly staff that made a difference. The decor was also funky and chic at the same time. Would recommend.
A great place to go. We were in a sour mood on ariving but The waitress and the friendly staff cheered us right up.
The staff was very polite and attentive. The menu caters to different diets; however, it does not excite. Burrata was very fresh, but the salad combination could have been better. The ravioli is too salty, and the pannacotta's side of rhubarb was too sour.
Food delicious. Good varied menu. Our server River was exceptional. Bar staff could have been more friendly/interactive(seated at the bar) Have had better Cocktails so wouldn’t order again. Overall enjoyable & will dine again.
Busy night when we got their as a party of 14 however we eere put in the down stairs which lacked the atmodphere of ipstairs. Our first server insisted ee work of thr set menu, which we did not book. The manager stepped up and removed this. Overall a pleasant night with good food service and drinks
The food was very good my wife had a past the dish which she said was excellent and my daughter had a steak and that was fabulous I did tasted I had fish and chips which was average. Fish and chips is generally good wherever you get it there was a little dipping sauce of curry I'm not sure if that worked completely well with it. It was Sunday so the atmosphere was quite it was Sunday so the atmosphere was quite subdued. We had a lovely waitress but the restaurant loses the star because the waitress did have her own machine for tipping. It is an expensive restaurant. With this method of tipping it would be very difficult not to tip so it loses one star because of this. I think it would be a better idea to have a different tipping method. Maybe include a service charge but I would not be a fan of this.
Lovely looking place. Nice maître d.’ Food ranged from underwhelming to downright awful; this is a place that is trading on name alone. The scallops sounded like a lovely idea; they looked lovely on arrival. Three of them on the plate. One good, one average, and one with a pong of iodine mixed with nail polish that was actually alarming. Way off. Waitress took the plate away. When I mentioned the issue (any chef who cared would want to know), she said she had eaten it and it tasted delicious. The main courses were both varying degrees of inedible. My companion had fish and chips; the fish was as gummy and mushy. The mushy peas, by contrast, were stringy and dry - a first for me. Felt like the pods had been run through a blender. The linguine with crab - disgusting. Gummy yet dry linguine, mixed with vestigial amounts of crab; the proportions initially seemed a bug but turned out to be a bonus, as the claw was repulsively mushy, and again, had that toxic rotting seafood smell. Left early and had fine Indian food at Diwali around the corner.
