We were craving dim sum on a Sunday morning and decided to come here. On the way, I checked the app "Dinfo" to make a reservation or join the waitlist. Luckily, it's not that busy around 11:30 a.m. We were a party of 2, and when we arrived, the staff advised us to go to Suite 219 to check in. Once we reached the door, we were seated quickly. We ordered serveral dishes, including BBQ pork rice rolls, crispy fried tofu skin wraps with shrimp, deep-fried sesame balls, and the Rainbow Sampler Shanghai Dumplings (turmeric skin with crab roe, squid ink skin with black truffle, spinach skin with kale, paprika skin with chicken, beet skin with minced beef, and juicy pork). We also had shrimp dumplings, steamed pork ribs, and chicken feet duo, shu mai, and pork ribs in black bean sauce, along with Anxi Tieguanyin tea. Everything tasted great. I enjoyed every dish, and the environment and ambiance were calm and quiet, which I really liked!
Overall the best restaurant in East Bay Area. Staff are very nice and professional. Food is great, we ordered 11 dishes for 11 persons and only one dish I thought was not up to standard - Dong Po Rou 東坡肉. However, this is not a Cantonese food (廣東菜)but a Hangzhou food (杭州菜)so not much I can say. Dishes are in high end price, $15 corkage per bottle, 18% service charge just FYI.
Koi Palace has been (by far) the best restaurant. I have been here probably around a hundred times, and impressed by the experience that comes with every one. The food here is something I always look forward to, and I love to come here with family. I have read lots of the bad reviews surrounding Koi Palace, and I can’t relate to a single one. The service is lovely as well, carts are rolled around with all kinds of food. Some people talk about the cost and 18% surcharge, but it is completely worth it for the quality of food that this place serves. If I could only go to 1 restaurant in the world, it would be this one.
Best dim sum in the bay area. This restaurant consistently makes fresh, hot and delicious dim sum dishes. I grew up eating dim sum every weekend in Los Angeles and been to Hong Kong many times and this restaurant definitely measures up! The variety of authentic dishes is amazing. I especially love the chicken feet, daikon cake and bbq pork buns. Lots of tables and the restaurant is filled with Chinese customers so you know it's good. Weekdays are packed and weekends are going to be a long wait unless you get there early. Do not miss out!
Located in Ulferts Center on Dublin Boulevard, this is one of the best Dim Sum restaurants in the East Bay! Featuring an upscale Hong Kong cuisine and a vast selection of delicious dim sum plates. I highly recommend their Roast Pork belly plate, with crispy crust and fatty pork. They also feature of multi color 198. Six Guys XLB, which is a distinct flavor variation for each of the colors. Their standard items are all top tier: har gow, siu mai, lotus rice, pork ribs with black beans. One delicious, inexpensive items is their soy sauce noodles for under $10. This dish is simple but delightful. You can opt for high end seafood dishes, which are market pricing: live lobster, crab, spotted prawns, and several dishes with abalone!
Fantastic dim sum place where they still use carts! Service: Typical service of a dim sum place, although can be a little slow getting food out. Had to wait 30 min to be seated because it was so popular, but we just went to a bakery in the plaza to grab some iced coffee while we waited. Server brought jasmine tea for us right away, and it was consistently filled. Ordering was a little bit confusing because you can order off the menu or from carts, but you’ll get the food eventually. If you are in a hurry, make sure you tell the servers and they will get your food to you quickly so you don’t have to wait for the carts. Food: All of their typical dim sum items are well made (e.g., shrimp dumplings, bbq pork buns, shao mai), but if you get their Shen jian bao (fried pork buns), they are not up to par. The soup dumplings are decent, but nothing to write home about. I’d stick to the regular dim sum items. A lot of reviews complained about an 18% gratuity automatically added to the bill. 18% is typical gratuity, and the additional tip line says “Extra tip”, indicating that it’s in addition to tip that’s already included. If you read the bill, it’s not confusing.
The whole experience here is very welcoming and the staff are all super attentive to our needs, especially the manager! They are fast and efficient and always ensured our tea pot is filled. The food is amazing, with special mention to the coffee ribs that was so crunchy on the outside yet tender to bite into. And having geoduck sashimi here is also such a great find! The ingredients used were all so fresh and the dishes well seasoned! Every dish was an experience in itself. The toilet here was also very clean so the entire experience is just super amazing! Would definitely be back again for delicious dimsum and hearty gatherings!
Best dim sum and service. Pricey and worth the cost. The mango puddings are the best. The shrimp rice noodles (ha cheng) here are the best I have ever tasted. The noodle is thin (a good thing) and filled with large, plump, fresh shrimp. The variety of dim sum is amazing. There are carts that go around the restaurant and you can order the items off the menu as well. Expect a long wait especially on the weekends. My family and I have eaten at Koi Palace for dinner several times and each experience was unbelievably great.
Their beef chow fun is a little pricey but very good. The noodles are very soft, softer than at other restaurants. There is a lot of bean sprouts which I like and a lot of very tender beef. It was just as good the next day when we reheated it as leftovers.
Large place you generally don't have to wait which is a huge plus. Went got dinner. Food is good and well executed but need to work on the service for the price... I get that Chinese place is not friendly. Though if they are doing business to English speaker, they need to at least be able to answer order related questions. We wanted items on the menu but the waiter kept saying they ran out or didn't have... No one in the group spoke Cantonese but he kept speaking to us in Cantonese and didn't tell me what is available. Took us awhile to order because of this. We randomly chose for cause at least 4 items we asked wasn't available and we just kept picking different ones on the menu. Heard it's better for dimsum but was happy with the quality of food.
Dropped by here over a weekend. Haven't been here since the pandemic. We went early so there was plenty of parking, but when we left there were car circling the parking lot. The service was good and we're checked in often by the staff. The food was okay. They came out hot and was tasty. But the prices made it hard to swallow. I'm guessing it's due to the area and inflation. Overall a good place to visit with the family.
Monday dinner treated by my son here. Good flavorful dishes which did not disappoint. Service was impartial. We arrived around 5pm and the restaurant is relatively empty yet the service staff tend to rush us out at the end when we were still chatting over food. Overall, the impression was good, especially the food which I'd give 5 stars for what you could find in the area for quality Chinese food.
One of the Koi Palace in Dublin. Over here, you could have some up scale authentic Cantonese food. The place is a bit small. The distance between tables is not that spacious. The service is decent, as long as you wave you hand, you will get response, better than the Milpitas branch. For the food, it is a bit on the salty side in my opinion. The presentation is pretty good. The portion is medium, running to the edge of small. We had the eel clay pot rice. The rice is a bit wet, usually, and it does not have the eel flavor, it is more of the sauce. The abalone is decent in side, if the sauce a touch thinner, that would be wonderful. Please remember to check the itemize receipt before you sign your name, as they have charge 18% gratitude and did not mentioned that to you. So don’t double pay on tips. The 4 of us cost about 700 for a total of 8 dishes.
I was there for few times for dim sum. It was quite good but not any more. Service was bad, especially from the only waiter there. I guess it's becos the pre added 18% tips, I found that really makes the overall changes for lunch services. Especially dim sum lunch, what service did we ever get? Place order, add water and nothing. Probably won't visit any more due to the bad services.
Food quality is good in general, but i wont come back for regular dim sum day anymore. There is an 18% service charge (NOT COOL !!) mandated in the receipt not mentioned anywhere on the memu/wall until you receive the bill. I researched and confirmed that it is legal for restaurants to charge such which the owner could keep instead of giving it to servers. So if the restaurant does keep it, then the "extra tip" is really just "regular tip" for the servers.
Food was some good, some not, soup was terrible,no taste. For the shaking beef the chef put too much softener powder in the beef. Made the tasted weird , Peking duck was good. service was not really good, asked for menu, water, ...etc...took awhile for them to bring it. Not really organized.
Let me start by saying that the food is decent for a fancy Chinese restaurant. Some dishes are great, a lot of them are hit and miss. But what really irks me about this place is the forced 18% service charge when their service is horrible. Forgot our food and we had to chase on two separate occasions - by the time the dishes came out, other dishes were already cold. They seat us in a corner where it was difficult to get anyone's attention. And when we do get their attention, they're defensive and quick to dismiss us. I don't expect top notch service but I expect them to not forget our food when I'm forced to pay 18% service. Also, extremely overpriced. Small bowl of white rice is $5.50? And dry + stuck to the bowl at that? The audacity.
Food taste like cleaning material and Watch out they charge a service fee. You don’t know how much. Not explained when you first walked in. Two different menus like they force you to go one way. They tell you the other stuff is not available. Why have it on the menu if it’s not available.
2 hours! We waited 2 hours to get everything we ordered. What a poorly organized and overpriced place to eat. We had a large party and wanted to make sure there was enough food for everyone. We asked for recommendations from our waiter, and went with his recommendations. He failed to mention that our food would come out sporadically and that everyone would get about 1 bite of food before having to wait another 20 minutes for the next dish to come out. And the rice came out at the very end when all of the entrees had already been eaten! How does that make sense??? The food tasted about on par with any other Chinese restaurant, although some was pretty bad. On top of that, our waters were never filled until we asked and the waiter didn't even put in one of our orders.
The food doesn't taste as good as it used to. I ordered the shrimp rice roll and they looked liked hawgaw but in rice roll. My surprise was get I got the bill I got charged 18% service charged (it was just me and my young daughter). On top of that I paid cash. My 2nd and worst surprise was that instead of giving me my change in cash, he gave me a "coupon/printed reward" for the amount of my change. After reading it, it can only be used dine in only, Monday to fridays (I'm working), redeemable at the same location (so I can't use it at koi express) and on top of that it expires in 2 week. I was seated in the back location of Koi Palace, if they don't have cash to give change they should've told me instead of giving me that paper as my change (that has limited use for only 2 weeks). I dont think I will come back again
