Good Italian food! The place always smells like heaven. A great place to take the whole family, or just a date for some tasty food. They accommodate large groups. I drive 20 miles one way to get to this place, and it's worth the drive! The employees are very sweet.

We stopped on our way back from Julian looking for. Mom and pop family Italian restaurant we found this gem of a place. Debbie was our waiter and treated us with courtesy and a friendly smile. The pizza we ordered was just delicious, very tasty including the lasagna. We will definitely be coming back for dinner. If you are looking an authentic homemade family atmosphere Italian restaurant with great food this is your place. We recommend it.

I really like the pizza here. It's right every time. I have never eaten here so I can't comment on the rest of the menu but when I walk in to pick up pizza the food on the table looks great. Service is polite and friendly. The place is clean and comfortable looking. The only thing I would like is to be able to order half and half for pizzas online. If you want something special you have to call.

Came as a family of four including two littles one under the ages of 4 and the food and service was great on a busy Saturday lunch. Server was prompt and made sure to include extra napkins for us. The wings were nice and crispy. We macked down on the spaghetti and pizza. They have lunch specials which was a nice touch. Definitely would return.

Since Lacey left, the night service has really fallen off. The staff oftentimes stands at the counter chatting with each other, ignoring their tables. If you ask for refills, more napkins, more anything, plan on waiting 5 minutes for it. Do not ask for anything special, like with cheese, because it will come out wrong. The buss persons are pretty good. Not terrible, but some of the new servers are not too sharp. Update: Service has improved, food is more consistent, though occasionally off. The wait staff is much better, and overall better and more consistent than most places. Many of the servers have always been good, like Kylie and Kayla, and most of the rest as well. It seems they went through a brief period of mediocrity. I definitely recommend this place.

Their pasta salad and their pesto sauce are both the best I've ever had, and their pizza is solidly among my favorites. Nice atmosphere with murals of Italian sights on the walls. Family friendly. I cannot more highly recommend!

Very authentic Italian food! Every pasta we have tried is sooo good. My favorite is Pasta Marechiaro. I always order a pepperoni pizza with my meal so I will have leftovers the next day. This is a must go to restaurant if you are looking for a great Italian place.

Delicious pizza and they have gluten free crusts!! Their pizza is very cheesy, gooey, and always hours the spot if you are looking for the best pizza EVER! They also have a free local beers on tap, such as Karl Straus. The atmosphere is very family friendly, and would be great for a family get together or celebration.

Best minestrone soup ever! Chock full of vegetable surrounded in the most Divine broth . Enjoyed eggplant Parmesan with penne and vegetables plus garlic bread. So much food and all delicious. The booths on one side have great murals of Italy. Cheerful servers. The total package.

The lasagna is my absolute favorite. I always take new friends, family, and out of town guests here and it becomes their favorite, too. I recently went on a different day than Monday lasagna day. I now *love* their antipasto salad; the pickled vegetables (giardiniera) paired with their homemade Italian dressing make it perfectly punchy. It is a unique spiciness that you didn't know you needed until you have it. We've also been on a regular dining day and tried two different dishes. I recommend both: Chicken Marsala and Pasta Marechiaro. Both are wine sauces and completely necessary to round out your savory palate.

By far this is the best Italian place in San Diego county. At first glance it seems to be just a hole in the wall. However, that hole inside is fantastic.

This is my all time favorite Italian restaurant, that I eat at everything time I get a chance. It was one of the cleanest restaurants, I have seen in years. The people working are so nice they were full of joy and many of them come over to meet you. They frequently check up on you and ask if everything is good or if they could get more for us. The place was so festive there were Christmas decorations on the windows there was a really cool art piece made out of pizza trays everything is just great about this place. All the food I get is fantastic, with authentic tastes and homemade items. I would definitely recommend getting the tortellini it was buttery and cheesy. The pizza is loaded with great flavors and spot on, definitely recommend the bbq chicken pizza. Highly recommend this restaurant!

In between the border of El Cajon and lakeside, this amazing Italian restaurant has authentic cuisine. The dishes are extremely savory and flavorful and they do not skimp the veggies or protein. With large portions of different pastas and specialty dishes, this place will not disappoint you. They offer a kid menu and their specialty pizzas are super yummy as well. Each pasta comes with either a soup or salad and complimentary garlic bread. Prices are very reasonable for the massive portions you get.

First time visitor. Visiting from out of town and it was recommended that I try this restaurant. Outstanding food and service. Our server, Kayla, was professional polite and had an amazingly positive attitude. The bus boy, Tyler, was also amazing - super polite and very enthusiastic. The manager, Lacey, was justifiably proud of her staff and grateful for the acknowledgement. I would highly recommend this to anybody looking for what they call “legendary and exceptional” Italian cuisine, family style.

This place had pretty good and fresh Italian food. Meatballs were excellent, pizza in point and the wings were very good. The reason for the 4 star rating is there was hardly any parking at all. Small busy shopping center, but its a nice restaurant that I definitely recommend for family outing or date night.

Staff was attentive until the meal was served. Surprised that the business didn't have wifi, that's not a deal breaker. This place is good food at a good price served by good people. Bring your family enjoy the food and tip well they deserve it. The only reason I gave them less than five stars all the way down is because, sure there are places with better food. But they're not trying to be fine dining, they're a family restaurant who makes great food. The Camholts chicken sandwich is my new favorite, it's just the right amount of tender chicken meat topped with bacon and basically a salad between two halves of a toasted sesame torpedo roll... Mmmmm yummy!

I wasnt sure what to expect here but everything was really good. We had the caprese for an appetizer which was a large portion. I then had the half and half raviolis (half beef and half cheese) which were tasty and came with soup or salad and garlic bread. The service was excellent as well.

Solid Italian restaurant. The wait was short, the food was ready in a reasonable amount of time, the staff was friendly and attentive and best of all, the pizza I had was really good too. The salad was ok but nothing that would deter me from re-visiting. Next time I'm in town I'll visit again.

First time eating the pizza here. I got recommendations from FB. Everyone was right, this is by far the best pizza I've had here in SD. The sauce is rich and flavorful, the sausage was flavored and the crust is just right. Highly recommend

. Rancid "garlic-butter" flavor on garlic bread. . Mushy/soft meatballs. . We ordered the "spaghetti with salad meal" because we liked the price, but when she asked about our salad preference, she didn't tell us the Caesar Salads we wanted were not included in that deal/price. We ended up spending more than we wanted to. . The waitress was sweet, though. . The spaghetti was good. . Busy/fun place to be. Very enjoyable. 😊

Food is consistent. Service is good. I'm giving a lower rating because I was charged $3.50 for butter sauce because I don't care for their marinara sauce (way too sweet). That's a $3.50 upcharge on a $12.95 dish ..and I was not informed when I asked to switch sauces. I think it's an outrageous upcharge for butter. I've been a loyal customer, but this stunt has put us off Marechiaros. Perhaps had I been notified ahead of time, I would have made a different decision.

Many family parties here and was gonna have 2 more in August but reconsidering.The food never fails it's our favorite pizza place but service was absolutely horrible this time and subpar the last few times. We came in with 7 and a baby. Waitress was very unfriendly, we were told we'd be charged for extra ranch, this was the first time we've ever heard this (we did order a salad) and then she gave herself 20% gratuity. I understand large parties give themselves their own gratuity but this went up from 15% and she in no way deserved this much. Reconsiderating my son's 16 bday dinner there as we do not want this waitress again. The young man who was helping with drinks and clearing plates was grwat!

If I hadn't been distracted visiting my mom after almost 2 years I would have said something. And my mom paid so I said nothing. No or very little sauce on pizza. The pizza was not hot. My mom went back the next day to complain. They only offered a discount on the next pizza and were argumentative. In business since the 50s, I guess we expected more given how much a pizza is these days.

Ordered a Pizza off the menu said it came with ham 2 types of chesse onions on it 16" pizza (large). $20 an okay price I am visiting from out of town and was looking for a place to eat dinner for that was a staple in the comunity for a long time. The watres as nice as she was even checked the pizza.

Tried a sausage pizza recently, was extremely disgusting was very suprised. Went back a week ago an ordered a pepperoni pizza and it was not good at all, both pies lacking major flavor and zero garlic....... We tried twice now and very unimpressed... Back to Pernicanos it is !
