Opinions de Rosendo's Taco Shop El Cajon
Great food, great service, price is decent, One of the best in El cajon
Food is fresh and delicious. also they got good salsas not like other places in El cajon. This is actually a real taco shop! 10/10
This is the best taco shop in San Diego. I have tried many restaurants and this is the best. The taco is too big and worth what it costs. I highly recommend them.
Great service, huge burritos! Really tasty tacos. Reasonably priced. Blink and you miss the location. Drive through a little tight. No option to tip on card, make sure to bring cash! Worth it!
For being my first time and reading the reviews, I was a little hesitant. However, the person who took my order was very friendly and Helpful. I was recommended to try the Cali burrito or Carne Asada fries. So, naturally, I got both. Except I upgraded my fries to the surf and turf. Also, i got one churro. I’m originally from the Bay Area so I definitely got high standards when it comes to Mexican food because there are so many great options in my old neighborhood. Ultimately, this place exceeded all my expectations
Carne asada fries are a huge portion. Definitely worth the money! You will get hooked up. Easily for 2-3 people. Surf and turf had a ton of big shrimp in it too, no skimping. Best part: open 24/7
All I can say is don't judge the place by the way it looks. This is some of the best Mexican food I've had in a long time. The quality the quantity the taste everything about the food is amazing. Is definitely a little more pricey but that's because you're getting quality. This is genuine San Diego Mexican food at its finest and don't let anyone tell you otherwise. I've had half the items on their menu and I eat there on a regular basis. Though the only unfortunate aspect is the amount of transients that linger in the area.
This taco shop is family owned and ran by the family as well. They are attentive and the food portions are well accommodating to the prices. The prices have increased in the past few years but this small business survived the whole pandemic and has thrived. If you're looking for a taco shop that will serve you good food for an okay price. This is your go to place ☺️
I go here a couple times a week for their quesadillas and breakfast burritos and I am addicted for sure. I love this shop and the food is amazing every order has been great and when there was a mix up once in a blue moon they fixed it even though they weren’t obligated too they happily exchanged my order even though I lost my receipt they recognized me. Everyone there is so kind and always smiling. Seriously I tip them every time and they deserve it. You won’t regret eating here.
This is a hood good tacoshop. Iykyk. Which you don't expect to find out here tbh. You have to stop by and try it ! So goood
I come here maybe every few months because the carne asada fries and the horchata come out to $22, but so worth it. My wife and I just get that for both of us and it's good enough because it's a big portion.
Best place to go anytime. Food was delicious and the burrito was the size of my forearm. Haven't seen that since moving from EC. Got surf turf burrito & Carne asada fries which were soo much better than anywhere I've gone to.
We call this place the barrel because it’s shaped like one. This is my go to spot especially if it’s after hours like 1 or 2am. Everyone else is closed except this spot open very late. Their burritos are decent sized and rolled tacos are amazing. Their prices are decent compared to others. I highly recommend this place for late night cravings
Juan has been great about my specialty burritos. He knows what I’m gonna order before I do. This is my neighborhood go to taco shop. Thanks to Juan and the gang, I will keep visiting for all my taco shop cravings. Super friendly service, green sauce is 👌
My visit to Rosendo's Taco Shop in El Cajon was a delight! The service was not only speedy but also super friendly, creating a welcoming atmosphere. Don't be fooled by its unassuming exterior; this hole-in-the-wall gem serves up some seriously delicious food. You've got to try their Cabeza fries – they're a taste sensation that adds a special flair to the whole experience!
I’ve been coming to Rosendo’s Taco Shop since my high school days back in 2004. Back then, burritos were five bucks, now you’re lucky to get one anywhere for under $15. But here’s the thing: Rosendo’s burritos have always been worth it. The size, the flavor, the quality, nothing has changed. They’ve stayed consistently great all these years, and that’s rare to find. I live over an hour away now, and I still make the drive whenever I get the chance. That alone should tell you how good this place is. Rosendo’s is a San Diego gem! 🌯🔥
They always hook it up after midnight! Great food .. only improvement would be to hook it up on the sauce and spice up that sauce a bit! Other then that 0 complaints!

The barrel shape taco shops are iconic! <3 They are so nice for try to make this building work as a drive thru! Honestly its such a comfort food spot for Mexican food. But if you can park and order. The barrel shape taco shops are iconic, got to stop and take some taco shop date photos is a cute idea.
Best bacon, eggs, cheese burrito with sour cream and a hot sauce is great!! Real bacon and it’s throughout the entire burrito on the first bite all the way to the last bite plenty of eggs plenty of cheese plenty of sour cream just the way I love it. Hot sauce is perfect. The red hot sauce best guaranteed biggest burrito in town price is normal just like any other place. I give them five stars.
I live across the street and I love this place, I ordered the carne adada fries, cooks and lady cashier were very nice, the carne asada were packed with meat fries and guacamole sour cream and cheese container was enough for 3 meals, def recommend this place, amigos keep up the great food and s vice

The food is really one of the most authentic Mexican food places I have been to. You can drive through and get the best Mexican food in El cajon . You can do laundry next door and have a great lunch at the same time!
Went late around 12:30am and ordered 2 orders of carne asada fries and the Rosendo special of 12 rolled tacos with cheese and guacamole. The person who took our order was polite and patient. Waited about 10 mins for our food. Final price of the three items came out to $50.
When I had cancer(diagnosed 2019) everything I loved tasted off, & I lost the ability to enjoy my Mexican food! It really sucked yk!? Pronounced in remission 2021 but no Mexican shop tasted good to me anymore, so I gave up hope that I'd like Cali Mexican food ever again! So 1 day in 2023 my friend had gotten a Carne asada quesadilla from Rosendo's. I was starving & was like what the hell, why not. Took my bite & looked up at my friend apparently extremely wide eyed. He asked what was wrong, & if I was okay! Vigorously shook my head yes, & swallowed the bite! Grabbed the rest of the huge piece of his quesadilla & ran eating it excitedly! I tasted some fantastic Carne Asada FINALLY! After years of torment smelling it, but not liking the taste! 😁 Great food, nice service
When you need a late night snack, this is the spot. They are opened very late and their tacos and burritos are decent. Parking lot is a little outdated. They do have a drive through if you don’t want to get out of the car. I don’t recommend eating here at night because there are homeless people wondering around asking for money.
At first glance this place wouldn't appear as much but I promise if you give this El Cajon favorite a chance you won't regret it. Known to locals as "The Barrel", every customer knows 1st hand when ordering from Rosendo's expect to be served generously huge proportions. Especially when it comes to their burritos; a staple item in these parts! Personally, I recommend either a Cali Burrito (approx $15) or Carne Asada Burrito - not only will you be shocked by it's size but the authentic flavors of each step in this burrito making is packed with robust flavors of fresh guacamole their perfectly spiced Rojas salsa & not to forget the tender juicy taste of quality carne 👍🏼🤤 I never order burritos ever; doesn't matter where I'm eating it's just always been known to me as a mediocre form of food--that of course was before I was talked into trying Rosendo's!! Oh Mylanta Georgia 🤯 I was blown away by its flavor & gigantic size 🤣 Alright now, I've shared my piece about this shop now it's your turn -- so get out there & get you some nom nom 😁 PS- NO DINE-IN / DRIVE THRU ONLY / 1 BENCH OUTSIDE
When I am in San Diego, this is definitely a go to spot! I always have the Carnitas, and it never disappoints! It’s more than enough for 2 and a half meals. The atmosphere is the only reason it gets 4 stars, but the food is a definite 10! If you’re in the area, it’s worth trying!

Carnage asada burrito was very big and delicious with red salsa, guacamole and carrots. The building should probably be knocked down and redone.

I had the rolled tacos. It was my first time trying them. They were just ok. Not something I would have again. They were a little dry. The guacamole on top did help. The portion size was ok for the price.

It's a small little hole in the wall shop. Novelty shaped like a barrel. The service was friendly and great. Bought 2 breakfast burritos and they were entirely too salty. The machaca and eggs and the chorizo and eggs. I had to try and fix them to eat them 😔.
They messed up our order and gave us a ham burrito we ordered sausage, My. Chorizo and potato and cheese burrito had no cheese, and they put bacon in it. I'm very disappointed, they used to be so much better. We won't be back.
Food is pretty good with big portions. I think slightly better than most of the shops in El Cajon. Prices are insanely high tho, I won’t be going again. You can find better taco shops for a lot less than they charge
My boyfriend just recently moved to the area in February, neither I or him know El Cajon so we found this hidden spot and decided to try it. We kept going back after two incidents because it's so close to his place. But yesterday was the last time we will ever go here. There wasn't a long line when we first got to the taco shop, like two cars ahead of us. It was already past 10pm so we decided to share a carne asada burrito. My boyfriend asked what did it come with, cashier answered with pico and guacamole. My boyfriend hates onions and tomatoes so he answered with "NO pico, just guacamole". We pay and drive back to his place that is 3 minutes away. I cut the burrito in half and to my surprise IT HAD PICO! My boyfriend was livid to the point I had to drive. At this point there is a long line. I park and walk to tell the cashier we ordered the carne asada burrito WITHOUT pico, NO pico. I was ready to wait a couple of minutes but cashier just handed me another burrito not even a minute later. I open it and see cheese, thought ok atleast there's no pico this time. Got home, cut it in half and it was a CALIFORNIA BURRITO. I can't believe the laziness of these people. They can't even get a simple order right. The worst of it all is already getting home to eat, have everything set up and have to drop everything that you're doing and have to go back because the laziness and little effort is ridiculous. Attached a picture of the CALIFORNIA BURRITO. I wasn't about to go and complain a third time.
Wayyy too much salt. Couldn't even eat it. Pace used to be good
Very small location, it takes them forever to dispatch an order. Waited in line, for about 1:15 hr/mins. On my vehicle, three guys ahead of me at the drive through. One of them left as I got there.the other two stayed there in front of me. Saw many take off behind after me . Horrendous customer service, they really lack speed, no explanation was given as to why they were taking soooo dam long.
This is the restaurant used to be very good And there are some workers he have rebate service and he all was afternoon he charged cash but another worker doesn’t matter what time you go even five in the morning he will get debit card or a Bay or another bay. Never ask him for cash. not even one time this is happening always. And also desk worker I don’t know what his name he and he have bad service. If the service will be like that, this restaurant will lose a lot of customer I have been going to this restaurant over seven years I change a lot
I couldn’t eat their breakfast machaca burrito. The flavor was like if I was eating grass for some reason. It’s was really big. Too big to be honest but the price advertised was $9.99 but my receipt was charged $12.99 . Unfortunately I was on the freeway when I took my first bite and even later when I saw the receipt. Don’t waste your money on the machaca breakfast burrito. I threw mine away. 🤷🏻♂️
I ordered chimichanga burrito, they didn't deep fry it and didn't put sour cream in it. When I called after I got home to eat and informed them. First time ever I was very unhappy with the food and service.
This was one of my top 3 for years. Something happened to them and it went really downhill. Don’t go overnight. That guy is the absolute worst. They really need to deal with the multiple mice visibly running in the drive thru line and around the dumpsters. I was violently sick for 3 days from a bean and cheese. It shouldn’t have had crunchy beans or tortilla chips bits and mystery items. What happened to you guys??? You were so good before? The quality went down and the prices went up.
NEVER EAT HERE! Found a toothpick in my Carne Asada fries, but unfortunately I discovered it because it poked me in the mouth when I took a bite. I had to eat every bite with a fork since all the chips where broken (as if they were from the bottom of the bag) so i didnt notice the toothpic until it was too late. Definitely not gonna ever eat at a place that serves food with foreign objects in it.
It was a nice shop but OVERKILL ON SALT FOR MACHACA. We took it out of the burrito trying to save it with some salad and sour cream and still was way too salty
Horrible, it's 5:10am the guy here said they reopen at 5 and as I sit here he doesn't even acknowledge a customer sitting here. Then opens the door and pours dirty bleach water right by the tables (outside eating area) that ends up right by my feet. Don't know about the food not even going to stick around.
worst mexican food ever tasted! not to mention they charged us for flan and didnt even give it to us! i found a chicken bone and what seemed to be some sort of worm in my enchiladas. disgusting!!!!
Lo peor de lo peor. El peor servicio de Todo San Diego. I ordered Carne Asada fries with a flour tortilla and they gave me the tortilla burnt, it had to be on purpose. Who gives out a tortilla that burnt? The customer service is the worst I've ever seen. There is no service. Just some punk kid who doesn't even really show his face and doesn't even talk just waits for you to tell him what you want and walks away and then charges you and hands you your bag without a word. He's always cleaning his grill and can never make your food. So sad because the food is actually good. But the service just lost another customer. This business is going down with that guy. WORST SERVICE EVER

I had a late night pregnacy craving for there food. They are not open 24 hours. I attempted to order 10 minutes ago and was denied by there worker due to them "being closed" poor customer service.
I bought two burritos Saturday, September 13th, 2025. One was specifically not to have Pico. When I got home, the one burrito had Pico, I called and was told I could come right back or come Sunday or Monday. I said I’d be back on Monday, September 15, 2025. I called to say I was on my way. I get here and this man tells me “no, I was no here Saturday. You come back at same time tonight and get from them”. I asked who manages or owns this place “I don’t kniw”… who was working Saturday night at 5:40 pm when I picked up my incorrect burrito?… “I don’t know”… This good is good, but this is terrible! $14 for this burrito and I can’t get my replacement from you because you weren’t here Saturday? And you don’t know who you work for or who owns this place???? Super annoyed for sure!
