I took my family here for dinner on a Sunday night. Food was phenomenal: all of my family members enjoyed (even the pickier, older folks) and each dish was pretty yummy We ordered: - house special crab (4/5, it was good but didnt blow my mind) - sea bass (5/5, phenomenal -- my dad was raving about it) - salted egg yolk chicken wings (4.75/5, super crispy, very tasty) - DF chicken wings (3.5/5, texture was good but the sauce was a bit too sweet. i was expecting more san tung style) - gai lan (4/5) (the parents loved it, as expected) - braised green beans (4.5/5, i thought it wouldn't compare to a dry fried style but it was really good!) - peppercorn beef short ribs (4.5/5, amazing texture and taste but gets a bit fatty and salty near the end) - garlic noodles (5/5, amazing, no notes) total bill we spent about $300 (~$45/pp) service was great, staff was friendly, food was really good. would recommend for asian families!

I heard about PPQ Dungeness Island from a coworker who mentioned their reputation for serving some of the freshest Dungeness crab in the Bay Area, so we headed to the Millbrae location for a seafood feast. We reserved ahead via Google and there were plenty of spots available on a Saturday. We ordered two Dungeness crabs in different styles, peppered short ribs, soft shell crab, shrimp fried rice, and their signature garlic noodles, making for a crab-centric meal that's all about bold Vietnamese flavors in a casual setting. ATMOSPHERE: This Vietnamese seafood spot has a lively, family-oriented vibe think spacious dining room with simple decor, tables set for groups sharing massive crab platters, and that constant buzz from diners cracking shells. It's bustling yet comfortable, fitting 50+ people with a neighborhood feel near the airport, drawing locals and travelers alike for celebrations or casual dinners. Perfect for messy, hands-on eating, though it can get noisy during peaks opt for off-hours for a more relaxed experience. MENU: The focus is on fresh Dungeness crab prepared in creative Vietnamese styles like pepper/chili, salted egg yolk, or garlic butter, alongside staples such as garlic noodles, fried rice variations, short ribs, and appetizers. Portions are generous and family-style, with seafood shining no frills like fancy cocktails, but solid for crab enthusiasts seeking affordable, flavorful options. FOOD: Dungeness Crabs (Chili and Salted Egg Yolk) We got two whole Dungeness crabs one in chili sauce that packed a fairly spicy punch with tangy, aromatic heat that complemented the sweet crab meat without overpowering it, and the other in salted egg yolk for a rich, creamy coating that’s indulgent and savory. Both were fresh and meaty, cracked tableside for easy eating, highlighting the restaurant’s crab expertise a standout for seafood lovers, though the mess is part of the fun. Peppered Short Ribs The peppered short ribs arrived tender and well-seasoned with a bold black pepper crust that added a nice kick, grilled to juicy perfection without being too chewy. They paired well with the crab dishes as a hearty meat option, offering good value and flavor balance in the meal. Soft Shell Crab This came as just one large crab, fried to crispy perfection with a light, golden batter that locked in the tender, juicy meat inside. It was fresh and not greasy, making for an addictive appetizer that we’d order again for its simple yet spot-on execution. Shrimp Fried Rice This was amazing the fried rice was wok-tossed with plump shrimp, veggies, and egg for a fragrant, flavorful dish that’s balanced and hearty without being heavy. The shrimp were fresh and bouncy, elevating it to one of our favorites highly recommended as a side or main. Signature Garlic Noodles Their famous garlic noodles were buttery and garlicky as expected, tossed with plenty of herbs and parmesan, but personally, I’m not a fan the heaviness felt overwhelming after the crab, though fans of rich pasta sides might love it. SERVICE: Service was efficient and attentive our server handled the crab cracking and pacing well, with quick refills and friendly recommendations, even during a busy shift. TIPS: Call ahead for large groups or peak times, as it can fill up fast near the airport. Parking is available in the lot or street, but Millbrae traffic can be tricky use rideshare if flying in. Prices are mid-range (expect $50-80 per person for crab-heavy meals), but portions justify it watch for add-ons to avoid over-ordering. Bring wet wipes for the crab mess, and pair with iced tea to cut the richness. OVERALL: Was it worth the visit? Absolutely, especially for crab aficionados drawn to the fresh preparations and that amazing fried rice. PPQ Dungeness Island in Millbrae delivers solid Vietnamese seafood in a fun, no-fuss setting, though the garlic noodles didn't win us over. We'll return for more crab next time in the area.

We ordered the crab for two and couldn't finish everything. Prepare to get messy cracking shells. They do provide all the necessary tools and a bib, though I'd recommend bringing disposable gloves. The crab and garlic noodles were delicious. Didn't care much for the salad, but it is on the sweet side, and the egg rolls were meaty. We also ordered the eggplant, and it was excellent. The only downside was the challenging parking situation.

I came here to attend a birthday party and we were served, said and spring rolls for appetizers, then we got 3 dungeness crabs cooked 3 ways, pork and chicken BBQ, green beans and sea bass. Of course, the crabs and the sea bass were the stars at the table but the rest were also delicious. The staff were attentive and brought items that were requested right away. I definitely recommend this place.

1/18/2026: Good O PPQ. It is always a great meal here. Food and service are solid. One of our longtime cycling friends have not been here before so it gave us a chance to bring him. He loved it and is a very picky eater. Meal for four adults and two kids was $420. Service fee is automatically added. We ordered separate dishes as supposed to the set meals. We had crab asparagus soup, two garlic noodles, peppercorn crab, roasted crab, shrimp papaya salad, sea bass, tofu, eggplant and string beans. Everything was fine. They have changed the recipe for the peppercorn and wasn't as good as before. Regardless. Good meal. Thank you everyone at PPQ. Updated review 2/18/2022: Always good times at PPQ. We ran into one of our friends while dining here. It is very nice seeing old friends and enjoying a meal together. We had the peppercorn crab meal for two and added beers and calamari. The food and service was much better this time around. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal. Updated review 9/25/2021: Slow kitchen tonight. It took about an hour from ordering for our food to arrive. Luckily the waitress noticed our food has not arrived after about an hour and check in the kitchen. Once the food did arrived, we noticed the salted egg yolk had no egg yolk taste to it. They probably forgot to put the salted egg topping because they were rushing to get our order out. Usually the food here is pretty good. We were so hungry after waiting an hour, we didn't send it back. The other stuff was fine. Imperial rolls with salad, garlic noodles, roasted crab, string beans and peppercorn crab. Original review: Dinner for two 8/6/2021. We left satisfied. Good job PPQ. About $200 for dinner with drinks.

Got a crab craving? PPQ is the place to go for Asian Style Crabs! My family has high standards when it comes to Asian foods, and PPQ satisfies their palate. We’ve been going to the PPQ on Clement and thought to give the Millbrae one a try. The interior is nice, the street parking is definitely easier (but not super easy), and the service was really good. Must try foods at PPQ that stand out: • Roasted Crab—buttery and garlicky fresh deliciousness. Love the sauce. • Peppercorn Crab – deep fried, breaded and fragrant. Yum! • Garlic Noodles – must eat with the crab. Best in the bay. • Peppercorn Wings –deep fried and battered with an explosion of flavor • Five Spice Chicken – this was surprisingly really good. Crispy and flavorful without overpowering five spice. Other dishes we tried (all were good): • Imperial rolls • Papaya Salad with Shrimp • Sizzing charbroiled Beef • Steamed Sea Bass • Braised String Beans • Stir fried Pea Sprouts • Fried Calamari Food is pricier, but you leave with your crab-craving satisfied and stomach stuffed!

Had dinner here with family. Parking was challenging but we found a spot down the street. We arrived around 7:30 and since we’re a party of 3, we didn’t have to wait to be seated. Service was friendly and courteous. Food was excellent. We ordered the dunganess crab with house special sauce, grilled tiger prawns, braised string beans, garlic noodles, and the fish maw soup. Will come back to try their other sauces for the crab and maybe do lobster as well.

Good seafood. Great garlic noodles. Nice pepper corn chicken wings. Nice ambience. Too bad no wifi for guests. Every dish was above 7/10 rating. Many 8/10 to 9/10. Garlicky chicken wings is a 10/10 - highly recommended. Carpark is limited so plan to arrive earlier before peak hours.

The peppercorn deep fried Dungeness crab was delicious. It was cooked just right. Meat was fresh, tender and tasty esp with the chopped garlic and peppercorns. The lightly breaded deep fried shell was perfectly seasoned, not too salty. Definitely will come again!

This place serves authentic cuisine with delicious options. The dungeness crab in garlic and butter sauce was amazing. All the side dishes that come with it were tasty with my favorite being the garlic noodles. Mango and Coconut ice cream at the end was the perfect touch. Great place to order family style and share several entrees. Highly recommended.

If you love crab this is a great place to get a variety of crab prepared different ways. We also ordered the beef steak cubes which i didn't expect to be good. I was surprised. Felt a bit pricey, but the cod and garlic noodles were phenomenal. I liked the fried tofu, but felt the batter could be lighter. The service was great and nothing took too long. The crab was good but not outstanding to me. Parking was really difficult on a weekday eve!

Ordered 1 lobster and 1 crab for 2 people. The stir fried black pepper lobster was very gold and quite enjoyed the green onions although a little on the small side. The chili crab, crab size was good but thought the chili crab would be like the Singaporean chili crab but instead it came deep fried with dry chili which I wasn't expecting. Crab was probably a little over cooked which made the meat a little dry and hard to extract and not as flavorful as I was expecting.

The food was amazing here. The crabs are pretty big and fresh. You can get it cooked several different ways. I got the Garlic steamed lobster & the house special crab which is deep fried, sautéed with a mild jalapeño onion sauce. The house special was amazing full of flavor, but very messy. We also go the garlic noodles which is a house special it’s just noodles with garlic sauce if you like garlic you will love this dish. Also I highly recommended the Braised stint brand and tiger prawns.

When you want to enjoy flavorful crab and other delicious appetizers and entrées then come to PPQ. So far we've tried the Buttery Garlic and Peppercorn Crabs. Both very good! Can't wait to try the other flavors. They also have Salted Egg, Cajun and Chili. Recommend the Soft Shell Crab appetizer and the Pea Sprouts dish.

Tried this place last night, it was clean. Beware they add their own tip as a service fee??? I wonder if that's legal if people are not informed ahead of time that wouldbe better. I heard you have to disclose this to the customer before they order in a place you can see. I read another comment that they did not ask or give us another drink refill I agree as that was our experience too. Glad we just ordered samples basically and one crab since we heard mixed reviews in the community. Imperial rolls good, garlic noodles good, veggies good and rice. The crab was basic. Overall, I would get take out maybe.

My family had booked a table in advance, but when we arrived, despite my age, we were led up the stairs to the second floor, even though there were empty tables on the first floor. The waiter who served us brought us crabs, but didn't offer us any special tools for opening them. We didn’t get a special apron for eating crabs, not additional napkins, no special wet napkins. Our table was cleaned only when we left.

Very shocked waiyed all week for it. The one on Geary was super good and fun. This one was very bad. Food took forever people complaining all over the restaraunt. Couple next to us left after waiting for a long time. A customer walked to the back and demanded his food. It was Valentines day so we didnt even really trip we laughed at it and had fun. Aftet all of this, reservation was for 7 we didnt eat until 830. drinks came with it and I was charhed 6.75 for some smart n final ice tea. Tjey took it off but it shows the unattentiveness of the staff. Noone ever came to the table next to us. They didnt even know they left. Finally they charged a service fee of $35 . Which has been seen and heard of on the news but after that service...I still had to pay the service fee ctazy. Theybwont get my $250 again. Sad sad service and the food was meh Garlice noodles dry and no flavor Crab had no butter anywhere.

I was really disappointed with my experience here. The service was extremely poor. We waited a full hour and still never received our food. What made it even more frustrating was that a couple who sat down at least 30 minutes after us received their meals before we did. There was no explanation or update from staff, and we felt completely overlooked. After waiting that long with no communication, we decided to get up and leave. Unfortunately, this experience does not make us want to return. -1000
