First time visit! Very attentive! We came close to closing time but they were still very accommodating and we allowed them to work on closing procedures around us while we finished up. I does indeed have a homey feel like you just got to the family function and it was time to eat. Everything was fresh and homemade. We brought home cinnamon rolls for the kids. They are the size of my head! Definitely will visit again to try more items! Small menu but great variety! Parking is tight we lucked out getting a spot. They also have take out!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ I had breakfast at Home Sweet Home and it was excellent from start to finish. The place was busy, which is always a good sign, but even with the crowd you can still comfortably sit and have a conversation. The atmosphere is lively and welcoming with that classic hometown breakfast feel. The food was great — flavorful, hearty, and exactly what you want when you go out for a good breakfast. The service was excellent as well. The staff stayed attentive and friendly, even with a full house. If you’re looking for a busy local spot with great food, a great atmosphere, and excellent service, Home Sweet Home is definitely worth stopping by. I’ll be back!
Our go to breakfast place. We come about twice a month. We have our regular orders but we change things up on occasion. Country skillet, lumberjack, breakfast sandwich, pancakes, french toast, and benedicts are all great. The cinnamon roll comes out warm. Service is fast and the food is always what we expect. Parking can be a challenge, especially on weekdays. But there are nearby businesses where you can park on the weekends. There's usually a sign out front on which lots are allowed. Put your name on the list when you enter and entire party needs to be present before you are seated.
I give that if an establishment has tight parking, packed with people… the food is usually really good. In happy I tried to Philly cheese steak sandwich recommended by the server. The crew of 5 or 6 people hustle and work as an awesome crew.
Went for a Valentine's brunch with a new guy I have been dating. It was "our first" Valentine's. The Breakfast quesadilla was delicious! I had to stop myself from inhaling it like a pirate who sees real food for the first time that has been out to sea for far too long! We used up our full hour and a half max suggested time, I could have sat with him all day in the lovely ambience that is Home Sweet Home ❤️
Wonderful breakfast experience. The place is aptly named, it just feels like home. Food was delicious, service friendly and quick, atmosphere inviting and comforting. We've been searching for a good breakfast place, and I think we've found our new favorite!
I’ve been coming to this cafe since I was a pre-teen and the food is always delicious, the staff are great, personable, and nice, and the restaurant itself has the comfort of a warm hug from grandma. Best brunch place in all of San Diego!
The menu says this is the, “Best Kept Secret in Town,” and I couldn’t agree more. The food was excellent. The servers were quick, nice, and hilarious to interact with. The place has an old time charm that I haven’t felt in a long time. Be prepared to wait for parking or walk a long way as this is definitely in an industrial part of town.
Down home place, not fancy but clean, friendly staff. Food is always tasty and coffee always fresh. Best chili cheese omelet around! Parking can be tricky at times, they don't have a large lot and it is partly shared with other businesses. Worth waiting for a space or parking further away and walking.
Best breakfast I’ve had in a while, I ordered Don Juan and it was delicious! Even tho it gets busy it’s really fast to get a table.
If you like an old traditional down to earth kinda café vibe with incredible food that will look awesome and full you up and provide incredible service, this place is for you! I'm a regular there and it's an awesome place to eat at that gives you what you pay for and then some! I would highly suggest the Tommy burger! That thing is amazing and very filling! Best café I've eaten at in the whole San Diego county area!
I stopped in for a quick breakfast while on a work trip and let me tell you, this place is fantastic. It feels like a classic dinner from a feel good movie. The servers were incredibly friendly, the food was delicious, and the atmosphere felt safe, comfortable, and welcoming. I don’t know much about the area of Escondido, but I do know that if you’re within range, you should make breakfast here a priority! Thanks for the great start to my morning Home Sweet Home Cafe!
I get Huevos Rancheros, rice, beans, over easy eggs. Spicy please. This meal makes me feel awake and ready to tackle the day ahead of me. Ladies who work here make this establishment, period. It feels like home, unorthodox, raucous, present, busy and amazing. If you wish to say Good Morning to yourself, stop by. Parking is hard as this place is popular. Prices will pleasantly surprise you. There is no place like “Home Sweet Home Cafe”
It's a fantastic old super clean hole in the wall! The Eggs Benedict is excellent and about as good as it gets and at a very fair price. Excellent service, too. The breakfast burrito must be the best in town, maybe the entire region. It's big, fat, filled with delicious ingredients, and freshly made. It includes eggs, cheese, potatoes, and your choice of meat and served with real guacamole (not the watery green stuff), sour cream, and salsa. There are also a variety of small salsa bottles on the tables. It would be a good deal at the usual price of $12.00-$14.00, but it's only $9.00! On top of all this, the service is impeccable. Parking can be a real challenge, so plan ahead and be prepared to walk down the road a bit -- it would be good to walk off their big breakfasts anyway!
Many years ago, I remember pulling up to this place and felt intimidated to go in because it looked too small and was super busy. Recently a couple friend's had breakfast here and the review was too tempting to skip. Finally, my sister and I were able to try it out and man, so glad we did! The place is bigger than it looks like from outside. The pancakes and breakfast in general was freakn gooood! Atmosphere was awesome. My sister and I were laughing it up and having a great time. Server was cool and helpful and had us feeling like part of the gang. If you look in the back corner on your way to the bathrooms, there's a really cool xmas tree they have for the children that might want to grab a toy. Jus for fun which I thought was cool. Definitely family and kid friendly. Gotta try it out!

Has been our favorite reliable great food go-to for over 5 years. Excellent Food, fun friendly service, excellent prices and tremendous value. Update: Home Sweet Home Cafe never ceases to amaze me. I gave up trying to eat my way through the menu about a year ago. Never had a single meal that wasn't beautifully prepared and delicious. Yesterday we stopped in for Lunch and the "Special" was a Tuna Salad Croissant, side and Clam Chowder". Not my usual "Fried food" choice... but it sounded good. I took the first bite and told Terri Guess "Oh my God that is the best bite".... Soft, buttery, flaky Croissant, FRESH crispy Lettuce, and delicious home made Tuna Salad. Fries were perfect... Clam chowder was excellent. They never let me down. Yesterday they did it again with "Steak Rancheros, Re-fried Beans, Rice, with Soup or Salad" as the Lunch Special. Simple fantastic food!

Really good homestyle food. Service was great, everybody was so friendly and helpful. I got the corned beef hash, eggs, hash browns and a biscuit. My wife got the lumberjack, three eggs, bacon, sausage, ham, home style potatoes and a pancake. Only disappointment is they don’t have a lot of parking.

I went all out with the lumberjack special, and let me tell you, for the first time in ages, my eggs were cooked to perfection—medium, not overly runny! That’s a rare win! Breakfast here is a dream come true—the coffee was piping hot and incredibly fresh, while the food was simply mouthwatering. The menu had a plethora of tantalizing options, but it struck just the right balance without overwhelming us. What really made the experience memorable was the staff! Every member radiated joy and enthusiasm. Our servers were not only friendly but genuinely eager to make our visit special, constantly checking in to ensure we had everything we needed. This place is a must-visit!

I ordered half portion biscuits and gravy and it was a very filling portion. type of eatery o would find in big bear or Julian, very homestyleand welcoming.

The short wait before being seated only added to the anticipation, and once inside, the cafe exuded a genuine home away from home atmosphere that was both warm and inviting. Upon perusing the menu, we were drawn to the promise of a comforting morning meal. The decision to start with their delicious coffee proved to be an excellent choice, served in charming mugs that added a touch of coziness. Our orders included a veggie omelette and home fries, a child’s pancake breakfast, and the much-raved-about biscuits and gravy breakfast special. The standout of the meal was undeniably the biscuits and gravy. The biscuits were a masterpiece of flakiness and buttery goodness, while the gravy, thick and rich, featured delectable bits of sausage that elevated it to perfection. It's safe to say that their biscuits and gravy are the stuff of dreams. Totally worth the 100 mile drive down from LA. Beyond the exceptional meal, the service at Home Sweet Home was exceptional, with an attention to diners that set a high standard. A thoughtful touch was the presence of a tree in one corner, where children could pick out a toy—an extra layer of warmth that showcased the cafe's commitment to creating a welcoming environment. As we left, already planning our return, it was clear that Home Sweet Home had become more than just a cafe—it was a comforting retreat that felt like home. We eagerly anticipate the next opportunity to savor those wonderful biscuits and gravy.

Let's get right into! The pancakes where made very delicious. With a crispy outer rim plenty tasty butter . Nice and soft i enjoyed them honey and pinch of salt. Which made them that much better. The order was plated with two pieces of bacon and eggs. overeasy made easy picken's of the food. A small venue yet very cozy ,I loved read all the little signs and looking at the different knickknacks they had . It's definitely a made local spot for locals yet very welcoming to all.

Now this was my fiance and i's first visit to home sweet home cafe... Where we both ordered the sausage, bacon, cheese and avocado omelette. Our plates came to the table and wow it looked delicious. I have added the photos of our omelets... But😳 as soon as my fiance and I got back home we were both on the toilets with diarrhea???🤔 We will not be going there again. 😡
