Tiffany was an outstanding server. She made excellent menu recommendations, and she brought refills without even being asked. This was our first visit and were very pleased. The food was delicious. The chips and salsa with their homemade ranch was good. The restaurant was very clean. It is easy to find using Google Maps.
🌮 Food Review: Chuy’s Brings Real Tex-Mex to Town! 🌮 My mom and I decided to give Chuy’s a try—and we were not disappointed. We’re originally from the Southwestern U.S., where we grew up with real Tex-Mex. Since moving here, most of the so-called “Tex-Mex” options have been bland, overly Americanized, and a bit of a letdown. But Chuy’s? Total game-changer. This reminds me more of places on the West Coast like El Torito or Acapulco restaurant chains. Which are far superior to anything we have out here full restaurant service wise. This is not the usual “Hoosier-Mex” you find in the area—flavorless and inauthentic (no offense, Hacienda 😅). Chuy’s brings bold, satisfying flavor and does things right. ✨ Highlights: • No white queso here—their yellow queso is rich, flavorful, and absolutely delicious. • They don’t drown everything in white cheese sauce. You get real variety and taste. • The enchiladas are cooked in the sauce—not just topped with it. I had one cheese and one chicken enchilada with green sauce. Even though mine were à la carte and the sauce was added after due to a small mix-up, they were still fantastic. 🥑 We started with the guacamole—chunky, fresh, and exactly how it should be. The complimentary salsa was also chunky and packed with pico, just like back home. We were Also given their jalapeño ranch dip. Not spicy at all. Pretty good. But, i was all over the Salsa. 🌮 We both had the shrimp tacos, served with rice and beans. Everything was full of flavor and worth every bite. 🕓 We arrived around 4 PM on a Friday and waited about 25 minutes. When we left, the wait time had jumped to 1.5 to 2 hours—so plan ahead! 🏡 Atmosphere: The restaurant is beautiful, clean, and aesthetically pleasing. It has a warm, welcoming vibe that makes the whole dining experience even better. 🌶️ Pro Tip: Chuy’s offers several sauce options with different spice levels, clearly listed on the menu. If you’re sensitive to heat, just talk to your server and choose accordingly. ✅ Overall: Chuy’s is the closest we’ve found to real Southwestern Tex-Mex in the area. Flavorful, fresh, and inviting. We’re so happy we tried it. We will definitely be back! Pricing is also relatively reasonable. Worth it!
We had a great time family and friends gathering in the bar area. We shared the appetizer platter, it was plenty to share and delicious. I had my favorite the chicken tortilla soup, it never disappoints.. Staff and manament took great care of us. Definitely will be back
I had so much fun tonight! We sat at the bar and Heath took care of us. Jason and Heath are an awesome duo. The drinks were very good. Heath is hands down one of the best bartenders I've got to meet (I'm a bartender of 20 years). Definitely an asset to the company. Highly recommend and Definitely will return. Thanks for a memorable experience and a great time.
Staff was AMAZING!!! We had Cielo (Cici) and she was so friendly and so attentive, as was the manager on duty. Food was fantastic and two in our party split a meal and they pre-split it in the back and brought it out on separate plates. 100/10 for that customer service and to-go drinks.
Being a one top that orders a water can be an annoying customer for a bartender. Upset with myself that I forgot his name, but the tender had no qualms or complaints with me. He was hospitable and welcoming. Made a connection with me regarding where I'm from and was able to make me feel welcome despite having a decent chunk of bar guests. They also have an amazing wall(s) of framed photos of guests' dogs. You get a free appetizer for bringing in one! What a fun promo. Special shout out to the enormous photograph of one dog. Makes me laugh a full week later.
We had a fantastic experience at the new Chuy’s on Evansville’s Eastside. We ordered Fajitas Combo for two. I was so surprised they use real steak and not that fake steak used at other places. Our waitress, Parris was fantastic! She went above and beyond to provide outstanding customer service! The chips, salsa and a ranch dip were great. When we mentioned we would love another basket of chips but had to watch our salt intake, she said, “no problem, I got you.” A few minutes later brought us a basket of unsalted chips that she had them make special! That is quality service. We will certainly be back, and request Ms Parris. Although from what I could tell, everyone seemed to care about providing a great customer experience. Kudos to the whole team!
Love the Atmosphere, booths and the decorations, but we were a little disappointed in the food. We ordered the chicken fajitas for 2. The chicken definitely had seasoning, but the vegetables and especially the guacamole needed more seasoning, it all tasted very bland. The tortillas were made to thick also. I am hoping they work on applying more seasoning to make the food taste like authentic Mexican.
Chuys is a Mexican Restaurant, right? odd, we did not see a single Mexican in the restaurant, customers or employees... Anyways, I had the beef fajitas, and the veggies were great, however, the steak was not very exciting at all. The corn tortillas was a bit too hard, however, the beans and rice was fine. The wife enjoyed her meal, and brought about half of it home. Our friends thought it was ok, but was disappointed with the fairly poor service. However, I loved the chips & salsa. it was awesome, and I loved the thin, lightly salted chips. I find it to be a bit on the expensive side, and there is better alternatives.
This was a nice place to eat, it was pretty busy when we were here but they did good getting us sat down. I liked the chips they were thin and crisp, I recommend the queso and jalapeño ranch. I had the kings memorial and it was huge, this was at lunch and ended up not eating dinner because I was still full. They had outdoor seating but wasn’t being utilized probably because of the close to 100F weather, it would be a great spot in the fall. It was pretty loud in the building with the music maybe not the place to go if you have people who get easily over stimulated. Parking is plentiful. I would eat here again.
..meh, it wasn't what I really had hoped for. Not bad just, not my style of flavors I assume.. Others at my table liked it alright... The silverware packets ... Are paper, which is fine, but they have in various languages, religious prayer. I don't particularly care for it though it was very odd. Our waitress was nice & did her best ... the atmosphere was busy, loud, displayed beautiful classic photos everywhere. I enjoyed.
I first discovered Chuy's a couple of years ago in Kennesaw, Georgia on New Year's Eve. Stopped at a nearby On the Border first and got no service. I had never heard of Chuy's but I saw the building in the distance and followed the glow from the sign. I thought it was a Chevy's at first but it was Chuy's (what's a Chuy's). That night, our food was incredibly delicious. I have been really excited about Chuy's coming to Evansville. My mom is in the hospital nearby (almost two hours from home) and I stopped by Saturday night after visiting hours were over (just after 8 PM). It was pretty busy, had to wait 15 minutes. Not a problem. I am an annoying vegan, I know, I know. The server was really nice about it when ordering. I went with the veggie enchiladas because they were only $12. I would have liked to have ordered fajitas but they were $20 (twice the price as my favorite Mexican spot). That's Chili's level pricing, way too expensive! Anyway, I just asked for no cheese. According to the internet everything else in the dish was vegan. My kids eat whatever they want. One had a chimichanga and he loved it. I can't remember what the other ordered but he said it was basic. He had went for something cheaper too. Also, the chips and salsa is worth talking about. I was surprised more reviews didn't mention this! The chips are excellent. They are thin, remind me of Chevy's or On the Border's Cantina Thins. But the salsa is really, really hot! It's probably a "medium" salsa but I was surprised by the kick it had. The kids switched to this jalapeño ranch they offered. They liked that stuff, even poured it all over their food. My meal was pretty spicy too. The ranchero sauce is what put mine over the edge. It was spicier than I expected. I got the chili lime rice and should have got the regular Mexican rice instead. I really enjoyed the beans. The enchilada was good but I had to scrape all the sauce off. My sweet tea was not good. I drank one and it was pretty bad. Our drinks sat empty for a long while. We needed refills because of that spicy salsa. She eventually brought another round and my tea tasted unsweetened and gross. I asked for another one and she made sure it was sweet. It wasn't good either. I ended up putting sugar packets in it and didn't drink much It was a pretty average experience. I wanted to love it as my previous experience with Chuy's in Georgia was outstanding. But the Evansville visit fell well short in every way. It's not a bad restaurant but not a great one either. Prices are pretty high, service was okay, food was spicy, sweet tea was meh. Bill for all three meals was $50 which is more than my favorite Mexican restaurant but probably cheaper than Chili's.
There was a 15 minute wait so we sat at the bar. The bartender was great! Food was a little slow to come. The salsa was fresh and very spicy. The creamy jalapeño dip was excellent. Queso dip was fine, nothing special. We had the chicken fajita quesadillas, which were pretty simple and definitely needed a dip. Also the chicken fajita burrito which was very full of beans hiding the chicken otherwise it was tasty. And the King platter which was a lot of food! Quite tasty overall we enjoyed it and we go back.
We tried Chuy's the other night. It's new in town, so we gave it a shot. Honestly, it's just ok. We went on a Sunday around 5 pm. The parking lot was half empty, so it didn't seem like it was going to be busy. We were seated right away, and our server walked by and said she would be right back to take our drink orders. Right back must mean over 15 minutes. Well, we had time to look the menu over, so when she came back, we ordered everything at once. The server brought us out their chips, salsa, and jalapeño ranch. Chips are good, a little too thin for my taste, but good. The salsa is different, not bad, just different. The jalapeño ranch is amazing. We went through 3 baskets of chips and another ranch before our appetizer came out. Fyi, we weren't eating fast. It just took that long. We tried the appetizers plate, again, the food was ok. The panchos were good. We went through the appetizer and still waited another 20 minutes for the entrees. My wife had the Deluxe Chicken Enchiladas, I had the Steak Burrito, and my daughter had the Kid Tacos. All of it was just ok. There was absolutely nothing special about this food. There are at least 4 other local Mexican restaurants within 10 minutes that are better. Overall, it was just ok. The food was ok, and the service was slow. I doubt we will be back. There are better options around. Sorry, I used ok so much, but that's the only way to describe it.
I met my boyfriend here for supper about two weeks after they opened. I had just gotten off work and he was already there waiting to be seated and knew what I wanted to order. He got a table within 15 min and was given chips, salsa, and a few others to try while he waited on me. I met up with him and tried some of the dips/salsas. He had already ordered for both of us. As a vegetarian, I was a bit disappointed when looking at the menu online prior to going. Again, another bean and cheese burrito with the deluxe tomatilla sauce and a side of rice. The sauce was really good and added a little variety to a dish common to most vegetarians. I really enjoyed it because of the sauce, but was disappointed at the vegetarian options that gave me another bean and cheese burrito. It was busy and quite noisy as it had just opened. A little overstimulating. I don't tend to actually sit down at restaurants to eat because of that and it's harder to hear each other when talking. I just got a bit too hopeful in having a new vegetarian option that wasn't the same common dish. Otherwise, I enjoyed it and can't say it's much different than elsewhere.
Went to Chuys for a birthday dinner. Was greeted and seated promptly ( came at 4:30 p.m. ). Placed a beverage order along with a additional dipping sauce for chips. Was about 15 minutes before drinks showed up. Sauces followed shortly with no chips. Waitress forgot straws and did not return for almost 10 minutes. 45 minutes passed and still no food. Tables all around us that were seated after us had already been served main meals. Asked Waitress to bring the kids meal and anything else that was ready so it would not be cold. Still no food but once it did arrive a little over a hour after ordering, the kids chicken taco was way to spicy and French fries cold. The other meals did not fare any better. The steak used in the steak burritos was under cooked and was not served as ordered. Of the 6 meals ordered, only 1 was correct and a little better than warm. At the end we just wanted to leave but the Waitress said they were making churros for the birthday guess. After another 10 minutes, we paid the bill with tip and told hostess to give the churros to anyone and left.
My husband and I are Chuy’s fanatics- we try to visit one every time we take a trip anywhere. We were so excited that one was opening close to us, but it was so bad that we will continue to drive to Bowling Green when we want our fix close to home. I ordered the Chuychanga with fajita chicken and no beans (all rice). The chicken was SO dry and some of it was burnt. The changa itself was also overcooked (deep-fried). The rice was good, though. My husband got the steak burrito with hatch green chile sauce. The sauce itself was extremely thin, and it was only on the edges of the burrito- none was inside. He said the steak was so salty he couldn’t eat it- he took about 5 bites and had to stop. He also had rice and no beans, but he always gives the rice to me. The queso was good, and served piping hot. The salsa was overblended and had no real flavor. The restaurant itself was nice, the wait was quick. Unfortunately, what seemed like a little girl’s softball team was soon seated in most of our section. Screaming kids fighting over who to sit by and parents who forgot they had children really ruined the atmosphere, which isn’t Chuy’s fault, but it still sucked. Because the food was so uniformly bad, we decided just to pay and leave. The waitress didn’t say anything about my husband leaving behind a whole plate of food, and neither did we. Definitely will not be returning to this location.
