A great restaurant! Our server, Patti, was attentive, friendly, knowledgeable and fun. And all the food was fantastic. The Beef Carpaccio appetizer was so flavorful and fresh. My wife’s Filet was grilled to a perfect MR and was melt-in-your-mouth. And the gnocchi, mushrooms and asparagus in demi-glace were very, very good. My Pan seared scallops were cooked to the chef’s recommendation (Patti’s suggestion) and were the best I have ever eaten. But, the spinach and peach risotto it was served on defies description. Heaven! Crème Brulee with fresh fruit finished off a fabulous meal. 5 stars is too limiting, on a scale of 1-100, this would have been a 95 except for the Hostess. She could have sat us in the main dining room where the normal 21st century American dining din ruins the atmosphere, but she didn’t. She put us in a smaller dining room where we dined in civilized peace and quiet. A 100 rating and perfect dining experience. Thank You Villaggio Grille staff!
Beef Carpaccio is thinly sliced rare beef tenderloin topped with arugula, capers, red onions, and horseradish. This was the first time I had ever had beef carpaccio seared on the outside. It is surprisingly great as it gives the beef additional texture and flavor from the sear. The paper-thin slices just melted in my mouth with that natural beef flavor. I love the briny pop of the capers and the bitter green flavor from the arugula. So fancy yet approachable! Scallops & Arugula Salad is St. Georges Bank Scallops atop arugula, Granny Smith apples, bacon, orange segments, and parmesan cheese with a balsamic citrus vinaigrette. Being so close to the beachy shores of Alabama, this is the perfect salad for lunch. It is light with the sweet, meaty, and perfectly seared scallops. The arugula lends a nice bitter note which balances out with the tart, crisp granny smith apples. The oranges add acidity and sweetness along with the vinaigrette. Shrimp Sacchetti is pasta stuffed with truffle infused ricotta topped with shrimp, roasted tomatoes, peas, prosciutto, and chardonnay cream sauce. The first thing I notice is the intoxicating aroma of truffle. I could smell it before it arrived to the table. Ever since my business trip to Milan during truffle season, I am almost hypnotized whenever the aroma is in the air and time stops so I can take it all in. This dish has the same effect on me. I went in for the first bite and I was in love. The pasta is cooked and stuffed perfectly with ricotta packed with truffle flavor. Nothing beats gulf shrimp and its sweetness paired well with the dish. The chardonnay cream sauce is light yet ties the whole dish together. That sauce would be great on anything!
Absolutely love this place! Nothing better than stopping here while shopping the stores of The Wharf to get drinks, shareable plates, wood fired pizzas and amazing entrees!!!! Lovely restaurant with ample seating outside, comfortable tables inside and excellent seats at the bar (my favorite)!!!
We are visiting town for the week and decided to try this restaurant out. It was great. Our server Andrew was really knowledgeable about the menu and answered questions we had. Everything we ordered was very delicious, especially the short rib special. Thank you Ginny and Lane for a great night!
Omgosh! My husband and I went on a double date here, we all were thrilled with our orders…. And we ordered a lot! The menu was perfect for me- variety but streamlined and focused so that I didn’t feel overwhelmed about making decisions. The wine list and bar were well supplied; we even found 14 year Oban. We shared a charcuterie tray that had beautifully paired flavors. My husband’s scallops were so good I could’ve wept; however, my seafood pasta dried my tears (the Alfredo wasn’t in the least bit oily, and it subtly coated the pasta rather than drowning it). Much like the menu, the portions were perfect to satisfy without going overboard. We finished with tiramisu- very moist, rich, and silky. The entire staff was professionally friendly, and efficient. Our server, Jim, was very helpful with recommendations, and he took good care of us.
We had dinner here upon someone's recommendation. I wish I knew the person. I would thank them. This place was outstanding! Service was great and the food was fantastic! I asked to get a different risotto with my meal and the server accommodated me. Next time we are in Gulf Shores, we will definitely eat here.
Villaggio Grille made everything so easy! We walked in at lunch to make a dinner reservation. They took care of us without any trouble. When we arrived for dinner, they were all ready for us. We had to make a special request for my daughter. She has a low-fat diet for health reasons. They didn't miss a beat and came out with the most beautiful dish of pasta and marina. My pizza was divine!
We had a Christmas party here. The service was excellent and really good vibe throughout the whole restaurant. Double bar I separate areas. Outside was inviting also. Great location just a few steps from the parking garage. Clean restrooms and food was excellent quality. We had buffet style since it was a party.
It was fantastic !! Service was on point never went without anything. Had the Brie appetizer it was the perfect size for the huge portion we had for dinner. The toppings of pecans were very good. I had the Salmon with risotto and zucchini it was delicious. My mom had the Short rib ravioli and my sister had the Bolognese and both were out standing. The flavors and taste were on point. Had Carrot cake for dessert Togo because it alot of food it was really good to. I can't say enough on how much we enjoyed our dinner. Highly recommend
I surprised my wife for her birthday and took her to Gulf Shores for a few days. A kind lady we met while there suggested we try the Villaggio Grille, at the Wharf in Orange Beach, before heading back home the following day. She recommended we order the porkchop and described how it was prepared and what all came with it. I was beginning to think she was the chef! Anyway, we went there the following evening around 6:30pm. I highly recommend reservations by the way! The place was BUSY! We actually got there about 40 minutes prior to our reservation and asked to be seated outside if they had an availability. The hostess was very kind and said she would have us seated in 15 minutes. Fifteen minutes later we were sitting outside at a corner table by the sidewalk/intersection. It was perfect. Our waitress was awesome, but I cannot recall her name! I want to say it was either Sam, or Jess? Anyway, she did an outstanding job of taking care of us. We started with drinks. I ordered my wife a red blend, which she said was very good. I had an Elijah Craig Old Fashioned. It was smooth and very tasty. We split the Caprese salad and then the Bone-In Duroc Porkchop, which came with Pancetta and Sweet Pea Gouda Mac and Cheese, and seasoned green beans. DELICIOUS!! The chop was huge and done perfectly! The mac and cheese was so good and practically a meal in itself and the green beans were very good. We were both glad we decided to split the food. There was lots of it! All in all, we had a wonderful experience at the Villaggio Grill and highly recommend it. In fact, we recommend going to the Wharf and checking it out if you have not been. There are many other restaurants, bars and shopping in this upscale, yet casual and relaxed area bordering Portage Creek. My wife and I didn't see nearly all there is to see there. If you have a boat, you can park it at the Marina, which is less than a 5 minute walk from the Villaggio Grill, and walk to wherever you want to go in the area. We will definitely go back to the Wharf the next time we are in the Orange Beach/Gulf Shores area. Besides, we want to check out the speak easy located across the street from Villaggio. I should mention there is a laser light show set to popular music every few minutes and includes fog machines positioned in the median of Main Street. The lights are mounted on the store fronts on both sides of Main Street. Very cool addition! Go check this place out!
My boyfriend and I went for Valentine’s Day and had such a wonderful time. They did have a limited Valentine’s menu, but had so many great options. We got the calamari, which was SO GOOD. We also got the seafood pasta and it was to die for. The Alfredo sauce was absolutely delicious. We finished off with the creme brûlée and it was absolutely out of this world. I could tell they used real vanilla bean. One of the lady bartender’s took care of us and she was great! The atmosphere was great, drinks were strong, food was amazing, definitely recommend!
Christmas Dinner at Villaggio Grille. Our 11th year at Villaggio. Every December we come to our favorite restaurant at The Wharf while on our vacation. Never disappoints. Amazing food & service. Our server was on par! We had 9 of us in our party. Thank you to the entire staff who worked on Christmas! We appreciate everyone who worked this day. ❤️ Christmas memories at Villaggio. See you December 2026.
Excellent service, amazing food, and a great vibe! We went in on a week night and the bar was absolutely packed, I watched from our table and could tell from watching the bartender that he is a really good one. Our server was so accommodating and personable! I hate that I don't recall her name bc I'd love to get her a shout out. We were a little underdressed and she treated us no differently than any other table. We had the crab cake app and the focaccia. And for entrees the scallops and pappardelle. Crab cake dish is very well conceived and every element went well together. We devoured it. The bread and the olive tapenade dipping oil with it was a nice touch. The pasta was cooked perfectly and the sauce was so good, very balanced. The scallops themselves needed a little improvement on the cook (two were cooked perfectly, two needed a harder sear) but the dish overall was WONDERFUL. Lemon beurre blanc was perfection. The whole vibe of the restaurant was cozy and classy but not stuffy. We have recommended visiting to others and we will absolutely be back in the future!
My family celebrated my husband’s birthday on Thursday. My niece made reservations for 10 of us with specific instructions of sitting in the main room which we were sat at promptly. Drinks by Jack were perfect. Jim our server was great bringing us perfect, delicious meals. Ivey and staff showed up at the end singing Happy Birthday with in incredible dessert tray!!! Amazing!!! We appreciate you Villaggio staff, thank you.
Great atmosphere, very clean and open. Excellent service, food was surprisingly good. Mussels as the appetizer were excellent. I ordered my steak medium rare, came out closer to rare, but still very tender. The jumbo marshmallow sized scallops were PERFECTLY cooked, which is rarely the case in a restaurant. My wife ordered fettuccine Alfredo and it was excellent as well. Obviously scratch made on the spot and done just right. We will definitely be back.
I have been eating here for some time and each time is always great. Plenty of food choices for everyone in the group and the service is always professional and friendly. Being located at the wharf there are plenty of shops around to shop at or satisfy your sweet tooth. Also, the walk along the water is nice especially around sunset.
At Villaggio Grille, the Truffle Oil and Sausage Pizza is a standout. The truffle oil gives the pizza a rich, earthy flavor, and the sausage adds a nice, savory kick. The salmon is cooked perfectly—tender and flavorful—and the risotto is creamy and delicious. The short rib bruschetta with carrot is a great combination of flavors; the sweet carrot and savory short rib blend together really well. Overall, the meal was fantastic, with each dish offering something unique and tasty. Definitely worth trying!
Made Reservations on Christmas Day. Order the homemade bread which was so good forgot to take picture. Order an appetizer but never got it. I order the 10 layer lasagna. This was one of the best lasagna I have had in the gulf shore / Orange beach area. Besides not getting the appetizer the food was delicious and I will definitely come back again.
Everything about Villagio was phenomenal! The service was great, food was delicious, and ambience was lively. Highly recommend the bolognese and charcuterie, but you could not go wrong with anything on the menu! Don’t forget to stop by any of their other sister restaurants—Ginny Lane Bar & Grill, Yo-ho Tacos, or Mile Marker 158 Dockside, you wouldn’t regret it!
I love Italian. This place was elegant, beautiful. We sat right in front of the Pizza oven. Since it was Valentine's Day, you need reservations. But we still got the best service. Ask for Monica when you go. She is fantastic. We started with the calamari and it was cooked to perfection with a sweet chili sauce. My husband's steak was overcooked, but they fixed it for him. And got him a brand new one. They sell wine by the bottle. I ordered the troublemaker. Took the rest home with me, Caesar side salad. My Alfredo was so tasteful and the lobster 🦞 was to juicy! Great beer, wine selection! Pepsi products sold here.
We had an absolutely fantastic dining experience at Villagio’s! From start to finish, everything was spot on. The food was incredible—perfectly cooked, beautifully presented, and full of flavor. The fried calamari was crispy and light, the salad was fresh and well-balanced, and the lobster pasta was rich, indulgent, and easily the star of the night. You can really tell care and quality go into every dish. A huge thank-you to our waiter Luke, who was attentive, friendly, and made sure we had everything we needed without ever feeling rushed. He truly elevated the experience. We also want to give special recognition to Myra, the manager, who checked in on us and made sure everything was perfect—her attentiveness and professionalism did not go unnoticed. Between the amazing food and the outstanding service, Villagio’s exceeded our expectations. We’ll absolutely be back and will be recommending it to everyone we know!
My husband and I got there right at opening as we were walking around the Wharf before our dolphin cruise, but wanted to eat first. I was a little worried about ordering fancier food as if there was any leftovers, it would not sit well in a hot car. Turns out, there was no need to worry as the portions were perfect for lunch!! Both my husband and I finished our delicious plates (I had the seafood pasta, which contained a lobster tail and my husband had the ahi tuna steak meal) and were full, but not overstuffed. Our waiter was great to chat with, although I do wish he had told us the specials before ordering as we saw them write up the specials on the board just before our food had arrived and one of the specials would have been even better for my husband. Oh well, what we had was amazing anyway!
Small menu that doesn’t seem to change often, but every dish is really solid! I wish they had more/new pasta dishes. Will continue to come back!
We went for Happy Hour and stayed for dinner. The pizza and wine were excellent. The cannoli cake was a perfect ending. We will be back for sure.
Enjoyed the food & the fact they were open on Christmas. Initially slow to get served - but later had a lot of attention & service.
I am writing to express my sincere appreciation for the exceptional experience I had at your establishment. From the moment I arrived, I was impressed by the outstanding service provided by your staff. Their attentiveness and professionalism contributed significantly to a truly memorable dining experience. The quality of the food itself was superb, exceeding my expectations in terms of both presentation and flavor. I thoroughly enjoyed my meal. I only wish I had discovered your restaurant sooner. I look forward to returning in the future.
Amazing place with great food, quality, and wonderful ambiance. We had Butter Shrimp Skewer and Seafood Pasta - both really tasty, must try. Check out the Happy hours (12-6) - incredible deal given the price and offerings.
Delicious food in a nice, clean atmosphere. I had tasty crab cakes, and my family had the seafood pasta and lasagna which they raved about. The Christmas lights and decorations at The Wharf were beautiful.
Thank you James for the wonderful experience! The food was absolutely amazing. We got the bread and lobster bisque. Two different wood-fired oysters and two desserts. Everything we ate was great. We got there 45min before close and it all came out fast and delicious. James was amazing and we will be coming back because of his service.
I was surprised at how good the food was to be honest. The bread was good. The crab & spinach dip wasn’t great, but the seafood pasta was top notch, and my friend said the Duroc pork chop was the best pork chop he has ever had.
Located at The Wharf, upscale-ish, but accommodating to children (simple kids menu). We chose to eat outside, it’s a nice ambiance when the weather is right and seeing as kids can be unpredictable I didn’t want to possibly disrupt anyone inside. They had an indoor & outdoor bar, which was kinda cool. James was our server, he was very personable, checked on us a lot, and made himself available if we had any questions. We got 2 pizzas, lasagna, side Caesar salad, and kids chicken tender meal. The pizzas were great and you can customize them (even though the menu doesn’t say that). The lasagna was SO good as was the salad. My child LOVED the fries & ate every single one. He ate two of the three chicken fingers, but he’s only 4 so I’d say they were a hit, too. The menu is not overly big, but everyone was able to find something.
Comida exquisita, buen precio en área espectacular 👌
Élite de golf turistas ? Atención especial y comida especial
I can't imagine how it could have been better!! Sara and Priscilla were friendly and attentive. The food looked and tasted like it was prepared by a Master Chef. The pan seared grouper with mushroom risotto was excellent. The happy hour and early bird dinner prices were great. Thank you for a wonderful experience!
Clayton is a great waiter. He made us laugh and really went the extra mile to make sure we had everything we needed and wanted. Price is to be expected for such a nice restaurant. I will go back.
We had a mini work meeting there in the back corner of the restaurant, which was surprisingly quiet and comfortable. They were kind enough to offer us their homemade lasagna, which was served piping hot and had a wonderfully rich, savory sauce and perfectly melted cheese. It was super delicious—easily the best I've had in years! I would definitely come back and order it again, maybe even for dinner. The entire staff were very nice and attentive, ensuring our water glasses were always full and quickly clearing our plates. They made us feel truly valued. Overall, it was a great experience with fantastic food and hospitality.
The dinner I had here was outstanding, but what really made my first visit here memorable was our server Christina. She was incredible. The upbeat and joyous way she does her job made dinner here a one-of-a-kind experience. She is a gem; please never lose her! Obrigado Christina!
One of the better restaurants I have been to in a while. Ate here prior to going to the Lynyrd Skynyrd concert. Got the fried calamari for an appetizer and it was very good! Fresh tasting and tender which means it was cooked perfectly! Husband had the beer braised short rib which he had never had, he described it as tasting like pot roast but good. I had the seared scallops with risotto and was very pleased. Only reason why they got 4 stars instead of 5 was due to the wait time for the main entrees. Would definitely return if in the area again.
The food here is absolutely AMAZING. I didn't get a photo of my Seafood Pasta unfortunately because I was so busy finishing it! The only unfortunate thing I have to say about this place is the service. We rarely got checked on, especially when we needed something simple, like water, and it took them almost 20 minutes to clean empty plates off the table. Our waitress (she never told us her name) made the experience very impersonal, but despite everything, they WERE extremely busy so to an extent I understand. Other than all of that, the food is so delicious. I definitely recommend coming here!
Sitting at the heart of the Wharf compound, Villaggio Grille appears to be a tourist trap. But I recommend getting caught! The place was hopping and our friendly server did a pretty good job but with a blunder: she forgot the Cesar Salad of which the wife and I each ordered. No worries - the entrees were more than enough. I had the ribeye; she had the porkchop. And both were cooked to perfection for our request. My wife: best porkchop ever! This establishment was simply a couple of salads away from 5 stars. But I'll be back...
The Villagio Grille, is a restaurant nested in the Warf. They offer a variety of food from oysters, sea food paste, chicken paste and pizzas. The staff is friendly and fast service. The seafood pasta was the best dish, it offered scallops, shrimp and crab. Overall I enjoyed all the dishes and will return.
I walked from my hotel on the wharf and found this cool restaurant on Main st. This is important because after dinner I was able to watch a cool light show which starts on Main Street every night at around 7:30. Very cool and set to music, so the restaurants location is excellent. My server was friendly and attentive. I ordered a shrimp pasta dish, which was very good. Perhaps it's a bit pricey for the area but it's still worth a visit. Check it out if visiting the wharf area.
We had reservations for 5:30 but were seated when we walked in at 5. The waitress was very sweet and encouraged our boys to draw on the table (she won them over quick with that!). The food was good and the service was great! I recommend the oysters trio for an appetizer. So yummy!
We had lunch here and enjoyed the outside dining area at Villagio. We shared a bottle of wine and had a goat cheese salad, margarita pizza and crab cake Benedict. All the dishes were well prepared and presented. They have a brunch on Sunday with lots of good selections. Service was good and our server was friendly and knowledgeable. We’ll be going back! Food was pretty good. I would eat here again. The thing about the wharf is that it's extremely hot in the summer and parking is weird. Not the restaurants fault but it keeps me from just going there on a whim. Usually the only time crowds are huge is when there's a concert. There are alot of shops and small businesses.
I live in Gulf Shores. Villaggio is one of my favorite restaurants in the area. The food is excellent. The atmosphere is great. Usually, I sit at a table, and my service is also exceptional. Today, I was with a group, and we wanted to watch football games so we sat outside at the bar. Here’s a piece of advice: If your bar tender at Villaggio, is Monica, here are the choices: 1. Ask for another bar tender. Keith is a great option. 2. Move to a different section of the bar because the bar tenders other than Monica seemed to be excellent. 3. Leave. Go to another bar. Monica is rude. Monica doesn’t pay attention to her customers. Monica rolls her eyes when someone needs something. Monica serves you one drink and never comes back to see if you need another. When someone tries to get Monica’s attention, sometimes she pretends she doesn’t hear the person and sometimes she says, “I know, I know,” and then turns around and walks away. Obviously, she doesn’t know. Monica projects a poor image for such an amazing establishment. With years of restaurant experience, If I had hired Monica, I would remove Monica from my payroll. Thanks, Villaggio, for great food and atmosphere. Please, at the very least, have a chat with Monica.
We had our wedding reception dinner here. I wasn't excepting to have the private room so that was a pleasant surprise and much appreciated. The waiter and waitress we had were really nice and accommodating. We appreciate being able to order from the kids menu for the children present. The adults really enjoyed their entrees as well. Thanks for allowing separate checks. We love the Wharf area and will be back to visit soon.
We were a large group visiting from out of town. They have what looked like 1 large table to accommodate large parties, so we were sat quickly. You can also have large parties put tables together, but maybe only outside. The outside seating area is within a cool section of the mall that has a DJ and animated lighting. It's very cool. Service was very good initially, but got a little sloppy towards the end (it was a minor misunderstanding). The food was great. The bread and calamari appetizers were top notch. The pork chop is reason alone to go. 2" thick, cooked perfectly, and well seasoned. The Bolognese was classic, though the pappardelle was a bit overcooked during our visit. The lasagna was excellent. All the portions are sized perfectly for one person. All the dishes were pretty classically Italian dishes with a bit of an American twist (like the tiramisu with strawberry on it!). All in all, it was a good experience!
This place isn’t as expensive for lunch but their menu is limited as well. It’s annoying especially if you come really hungry as portions are small for most things. Dinner would’ve been better. The food tastes pretty good but given the portions, it’s a bit expensive so go into this place knowing dinner is the best option. Overall, if it wasn’t for the small portions & limited lunch menu, I might’ve given this a 5/5 but it’s too limiting on portions to do so. Still worth checking out.
A very subpar experience at the least the food was not that good but we were thankful that you'll were open Christmas day bc we knowable cook the dinner ourselves but we tried something new and I'm just being honest it was a bust for me maybe when I go back I will try it then and be able to give you'll a better review 😊
We ord'd fried ravioli, I had a caesar salad & the 10-layer lasagna. I'm pretty picky about lasagna but it was delicious! Also, best Caesar salad I ever had! Too full for dessert, so took a pc. of carrot cake & cheesecake to go. The cheesecake was phenomenal, but we didn't like the carrot cake. Not very much frosting & it tasted waaay too cinnamon-y (a word? 😆). However, that was just one tiny thing. We'll DEFINITELY be back!!!
In town looking for a place to move to shortly. We decided to look for a nice place to sit down, relax, have some conversation, discuss the day's goings on, and enjoy some good food. With the raving reviews on Trip Advisor, Villaggio Grill caught our eye. Know that in order to get to Villaggio, you'll need to park in the parking garages on either side of The Warf. When we got there, the restaurant was understandably busy as it was around 1900. We were greeted at the front desk and offered immediate seating outside or a waitlist for indoor seating. We chose indoor due to the overbearing heat of the day still sweltering in the evening. We were quoted a 30 minute wait time and the wait was indeed about what was quoted. A review of the menu indicated price increases of some plates of upwards of 30% from that posted on Trip Advisor. Either way, we ordered two appetizers and one entree. We tried have a discussion, but the music outside was so loud, the bass so penetrating, it was difficult to hear each other. Then cue the bright LED lights lining the entire street flashing and moving to the music, it sure didn't help the ambiance of the restaurant at all. The bread and olive oil spread brought out prior to ordering was absolutely delicious! I could have just sat there and filled up on that alone and I would have been happy. The waitress who took our order was quite busy. A gentleman, I assume from the kitchen brought out our entree, sat it down and departed quickly. A few minutes later the waitress, slightly embarrassed, asked if we had gotten our appetizers yet. We'd told her no, but not to sweat it. She asked if we still desired the two plates, which of course we did. She returned a short time later and had told us that our order was next up from the kitchen. They may have told her that, but it certainly wasn't the case. Again, we were enjoying the entree so not a huge deal. When the entree arrived, the calamari was really good. The only thing I didn't like about it was the sweet and sour sauce dip. Normally calamari comes with marinara. I wouldn't expect sweet and sour sauce. The butter nut squash tortellini special was pretty good but the pasta was still a few steps away from Al Dente. Still a bit crunchy in the middle of the noodle. After we'd paid our bill and were making our way out of the restaurant, I'd noticed a waiter with a large tray of food waiting to get out the front door to deliver to one of the tables outside. I went to hold the door open for him and a waitress grabbed the door in front of me. I said, "You beat me too it. I was going to get that for him." Her reply? "Yeah right." A bit rude, but perhaps it has been a busy day. Overall, some of the food was good, a bit high priced in my opinion we'll not return.
Very mediocre food. I had the smallest piece of grouper ever on a bun more than twice its size and some french fries and paid $16. The piece of fish was thick but it just wasn't really sandwich size and it had a fishy taste which is rare for grouper. Hubby had the same with the house chips and his opinion also mediocre. I think we would have probably been more satisfied food and cost-wise to just have gone to McDonald's.
I wanted to update the review after being here several times. The atmosphere is great, I cannot knock that at all. The food is definitely nothing to write home about at all. There is nothing that you are going to say that was an absolutely amazing meal. That goes for the pizza, the Grouper, the bread, caprese, and/or the scampi. The filet, they usually have the hardest time getting the proper temperature, even after sending it back. The dessert(s) are not worth the money and I wouldn't ever order them again. That goes from the creme brulee, chocolate cake, and the tiramisu. The servers are either hit or miss for how attentive they can be. If you want a great ambiance, this is a perfect place. You want mediocre food, this will be right up your alley. Over all it is just ok, nothing will knock your socks off by coming here.
Villaggio Grille was a decent stop on our trip to the Gulf Shores area. Unfortunately, while service started off great for our meal, we were left alone with no service for far too long by the end. The majority of our group ended up getting up to explore the shopping center while a few stayed behind to pay. Food was okay, but would not come back based on this experience.
This was our first visit to the Gulf Shores area so all of our restaurant picks have been based on reviews. I’m here to offer a review that I don’t see listed. This place is ok. If you’re in the area of the Wharf then sure, it works. But next time I won’t go out of my way to visit this restaurant or the Wharf. None of it seems to be managed well. We sat outside because it was a nice night. Everything seemed dirty and loud. The guys cleaning off tables pushed around a cart with dirty dishes that was exceptionally loud bouncing on the cobblestone ground. And they were cleaning the tables with a rag that was extremely dirty. The food wasn’t bad. We started with a house salad that was really good and a Caesar salad that was very lacking (it didn’t even have croutons). My husband got the pork chop that was overcooked and dry but the sides were delicious (Mac and cheese and broccolini). My girls had a wood fired pizza that didn’t look like it was baked in a HOT wood fired oven. My oysters were very flavorful but they were tiny! All in all it didn’t have the ambiance or quality that we were expecting.
I dined alone last night at Villaggio Grill and had a pretty disappointing experience. I started with a blueberry coconut mojito, which was very good. I ordered the burrata caprese appetizer and then the seared scallop entree, which I was really excited to try. After about 45 minutes, my server came to tell me that the reason my entree was taking so long is because my scallops were “frozen solid”. I appreciate the honest communication, but I would rather not have known my seafood was frozen, though I do understand that is a common occurrence in most restaurants. At this point, I still had not received my appetizer, so I politely asked for that in the meantime. My entree arrived a few minutes later and I was immediately disappointed with the portion for the price I was paying. The four scallops were rather small, but they were cooked pretty well. The risotto was extremely bland and there was no vegetable side included with the dinner. After I completed my entree, my appetizer finally arrived and it was the shining star of my entire meal. As a restaurant manager myself, I would want to know this information, so I did give this feedback to the manager on duty. She was apologetic and offered to remove the appetizer from my meal, which I did not expect but do appreciate. Overall, the experience was disappointing, but I can see how others may enjoy this establishment.
We have been to Villaggio Grille several times while in Gulf Shores and ordered the bolognese. It was my favorite. We went last night and was very disappointed with the bolognese. The pasta was not cooked enough and had to send it back. Not as good as it used to be.
Es muy lindo este lugar. Las dos opciones que ofrecen son muy buenas. Una afuera y una adentro . Carrot cake muyyyyy rica.
I wouldn't go out of my way to dine here again. We had a 5pm reservation and didn't get seated until 5:45. They tried to seat four of us at a table for 12 which would have made conversation impossible. There were plenty of open booths and other groups were being seated before us. Finally seated and ordered drinks. Happy Hour cocktails $4. There was no alcohol or they were very watered down. Placed food order. Appetizers were good. Placed another drink order and they cost three times more than 15 minutes earlier and still were not good. Entrees arrived and were good. Service was okay. Overpriced and overall not worth it. Waited 1 hour and 40 minutes to be served our food. I ordered the famous seafood pasta at $34 - was cold and I was not impressed at all with the taste. Wife ordered the special of grouper in Angel hair pasta . The grouper was bland and the pasta too salty to eat. Others had the pork chop which she said was good and grandson had a ribeye he said was amazing. We ordered multiple desserts all of which were very good. Our waitress was amazing. They ended up taking my meal off the bill and one dessert. Still was over $400 for 5 meals. Just really disappointed over all.
The grouper sandwich was the worst fish I have ever had. Horrible. I used to consider this restaurant dependable and good each time. It’s gone downhill food wise like a lot of the other restaurants. It used to be classy and is now getting run rundown. Why has it become so hard to find a decent restaurant to get good food in this area?
Very disappointed. Food lacked flavor and salt, bread was very dried out, our salad was brought out after our meal. For such an expensive place the waitress was not well trained and the food was overpriced. Waitress was absent most of our meal and we couldn’t find her. Take your money elsewhere.
I came to this restaurant twice. The first time I came here with my friend for lunch, and the customer service was great (Steve was our waiter and he was awesome) and the food was amazing. Now the second I came here, it was with my mom for dinner, and the customer service was horrible (our waiter who served us looked liked he was a high schooler, he had strawberry blonde curly hair and he had poor attitude) and according to my mom, the food was horrible.
Been here a few times and the food is usually bland. For a $50 steak, I figured it would be seasoned and cooked to temp. When I asked for a box and barely ate anything, the server acknowledged that my steak was undercooked and just smiled when I said I would take it home and cook it up. Sad that I took an evening out and spent $75 just to go home and have to dirty up dishes anyway. Definitely a tourist trap.
I made reservations for 430 for the lunch menu. I had five friends with me a few years ago. I used to go to this restaurant and it was awesome. I was so disappointed tonight . No longer do they serve their delicious bread with olive oil herb dip now you have to buy bread for four dollars. 🤨 I ordered the seared grouper, there was so much salt. I only ate a third of the meal the fish tasted old. because of the large group we were set right next to the bar when the waiter went past me which was every five minutes or so he bumped my chair. I know this seems petty, but it was along with a bad meal. we had to wait at our table at least 30 minutes before our meal arrived. It was an overall bad experience. I will not go back.
In early December we made a reservation for four to dine at the Villagio on New Years Eve. Even booking in early December, a 9:45 pm reservation was the earliest we could book. When we arrived, we "assumed" we would be seated in the main dining area that was beautifully decorated for the occasion. But instead, we were escorted to a private room in the back with no windows and no atmosphere whatsoever. And, the four of us were seated at a round table for 8, making conversation very difficult. We did enjoy the first two courses (lobster bisque and crab cakes). However, we were extremely disappointed in the main course. Each of us ordered a different item (filet, scallops, lamb and lobster). When the main course was served we were all shocked when our food was not even warm. It was room temperature at best. The dessert and champagne was the highlight of the meal. We have dined at Villagio in the past and were pleased with both the quality of the food and the service. But, New Years Eve 2025 was a total bust and certainly not worth the $100.00 limited menu option meal that we each paid for.
Food was great. However, it is very expensive. I suggest coming with lots of cash too, as using a credit card results in a 3% charge on your bill. The reason for the one star is because of our waiter, J., who did not wear his mask the entire time he served our table and the other surrounding tables. Additionally, no one in the open kitchen wore a mask either. It is risky enough for people to be going out in public to restaurants these days, considering we are STILL in the middle of a pandemic. But this server was one of the only servers who did not take any precautions to serve us food safely. He had on a neck bandana type of "mask" but wore it around his neck. Occasionally he would pull it up for a split second, before it fell back down his neck. He obviously stood above us, and also very close to our table. If by the possible chance he is a COVID carrier, he easily just spread it to everyone at our table. He provided good service and was a friendly server, but I cannot overlook the precautions NOT taken. As someone who also works in the food service industry, I understand the annoyance and discomfort that comes with wearing a mask. But as a paying guest, I even pulled my mask up at the table whenever he showed back around, just to be extra safe. I know this review was harsh, but our table was very frustrated with the lack of professionalism amidst other law-following servers.
My friend and I ordered the 10 layer lasagna and it came out cold after we waited an hour and 20 min for our food. Then our husbands were finished eating by the time the lasagna was corrected. The food was good but I doubt I would come back just because of the long wait for food.
Bolognese was sub par. Hardly any sauce, small crumbling of hamburger, a small piece of tomato. Salads were saturated with dressing to the point that lettuce was limp. We ate it because we were hungry. Sorry we did not turn it back. Husband is sick today as it did not set right with him. I hate negative reviews but this could not go unsaid.
