Opinions de Azal Coffee Forest Hills
Azal Coffee is 🔥 , this one on 71st right off the E train, super convenient. I had the Azal Latte and the Pistachio Cream Cake, and both were excellent. The latte had a balanced flavor with regular sugar and whole milk , and the cake was creamy and not too sweet. The spot is new and there's plenty of seating. My order was ready in 5 minutes. Good number of individuals getting some work done. Staff is responsive: thanks for fixing the hours on Google. Highly recommend
Nice addition and option for Continental value. Had pistachio cheese cake and pumpkin spice latte. Was good- a little sweet for me but good. Clean place. Plenty of tables to sit and enjoy.
From the moment we walked through the doors, Yahya—the owner—greeted us with genuine warmth and humility. His kindness immediately set the tone for what turned out to be an exceptional experience. The ambiance is absolutely beautiful, with a stunning blue-and-white color palette and thoughtfully designed interiors. The chairs are modern, polished, and spotless, and the marble flooring gives the entire space a sleek, luxurious vibe. Throughout the café, you'll find artistic graphics and writing celebrating Yemeni architecture and culture, adding to its charm and authenticity. The staff were busy but incredibly attentive, ensuring every guest was well taken care of. Their dessert selection is impressive—as you can see in the photos—and we especially loved the pancake bites drizzled with pistachio, Nutella, and Biscoff. We also ordered the Azal signature coffee, iced lattes, and a few other drinks. Yahyah even surprised us with a complimentary hibiscus refresher, which was such a kind gesture and really refreshing. The space is massive, making it ideal for casual hangouts or even larger gatherings. There's also a back area currently under construction that looks incredibly promising. Once completed in the next 5 to 6 months, it will feature an upstairs section and a backyard that can easily accommodate 100–150 people. Overall, Azal has an amazing menu, a phenomenal staff, and an owner who truly cares about his guests. Can’t wait to return and see the new expansion come to life.
Went over to Azal to meet up with a lifelong friend, and their vibe was extremely welcoming! We got the biscoff and pistachio mini pancakes, and there were so good! They weren't too sweet, and their texture when they were fresh were so soft! We ended up chatting for right around 3 hours, and were there unbothered the whole time. Their drinks were pretty good too. I got their Azal Signature and it was able to keep me up for my flight later that day! Definitely do enjoy their blend and need to buy some the next time I'm in town!
Amazing spot. Honestly, if you’re in the area, you need to visit at least once(you’re going to go again), and if youre not in the area, travel is worth it. Staff is amazing, genuinely treat everyone with so much respect, and the amount of efforts they put for each and every order is the closest you get to a homemade experience. The place itself looks stunning, always great to study. Totally recommend, and my personal favorite is the milk cake dessert!
I promise you, this is a must visit. The desserts are suppperrrr delicious and the ADENI TEA is amazing. I usually visit around the evenings and there are seats available. The dragonfruit tea is also a great choice. But definitely, a nice welcoming, cozy, clean, and lively place. Good place to sit and chat, and very aesthetically pleasing. Even if it’s just for a minute, take the time to enjoy their teas or milk cakes. Bathroom is nice but customers are not the best in cleaning after themselves. The employees are very sweet and they truly go the extra mile. Very friendly and polite. Enjoy your sweet cravings, love azal!!!
The tea, atmosphere, and service is always amazing. I come almost every day with friends and we order their Adeni chai and it’s always super good and the servers: Imad n Mohammad are always lit. The chai is so much better than other Yemeni spots n they have holders for the pots keeping the chai always warm. Alhamdulillah for this place
Big fan of this space! 1) it’s open late 2) There’s enough seating that I didn’t struggle to find seating during a weekend afternoon. Chairs are comfortable and chic. 3) the drinks are good! I enjoyed the $4 Adeni tea, and the $7 mango dragon lemonade (their most popular refresher) My only complaints are that the wifi is weak near the entrance, and the music can be loud sometimes. I enjoyed the music selection: it morphed from chill Laufey > Arabic (Sherine, Wael Jassar) > no music in the evening.
Had a great early coffee here this morning! It’s super quiet and peaceful inside, and they have tons of seating (a few tables with outlets as well, and they have WiFi for people who want to work here). We also got the Pancake Crazy Mix - very delicious and a nice presentation. Probably a little indulgent for breakfast, but it was a nice treat. The other pastries looked great, too. Just a note that Turkish coffee has very fine grounds in it and is supposed to be that way! The Iced Mowafer that I got didn’t have grounds so if you prefer groundless coffee like I do (and like cardamom), I’d recommend that one.
Azal is an absolute gem! The drinks are incredible — I seriously can’t pick a favorite because they’re all so good. Their fresh juices are especially perfect on a hot summer day — refreshing, flavorful, and exactly what you need to cool down. Also, I have to mention their cup holder trays — they’re way more sturdy and practical than what you get at Starbucks or Dunkin’. It’s such a small detail, but it really stood out. Easy to carry, no spills — super convenient! If you’re looking for a spot that cares about quality and small details — Azal is a must-try.
Great place to sit down and have a drink. The place looks nice and there’s a bathroom available. Staff was super friendly and accommodating being that it was a large group I was with. Black tea was ok, but their signature Azal latte tasted pretty good and wasn’t too sweet. Plenty of pastries available, croissant was good 😊 Adeni chai was also good 8/10 plus they have milk alternatives like oatmilk and almond milk
— Do nott get their Biscoff Latte, it doesn’t taste like biscoff at all it’s jsut bitter coffee, and even when I asked for more sweetener it was still on the bitter side. — I’m not sure about their other pastries but their Hot chocolate was realllyy good would def recommend that. — The interior is really beautiful and aesthetic and the service was very smooth and workers were very polite. Music was a bit too loud tho.
A bit disappointed due to cleanliness of the bathroom. Came here with my husband for the first time and the beautiful decor reminds me of the cafes in most of Eastern Europe. Personally the pistachio and almond croissants had way too much cream filling but still tasty. Pistachio latte was excellent. The only reason why I would give this place a 3 star is because of the filthy bathroom. It was so disgusting it completely turned me off. I don’t think I’ll be going back there again.
The atmosphere is beautiful you can come here like a starbucks and relax. The coffee is not strong and flavorless so if you looking for really good coffee this place needs some improvement. Also the most important part that i wanted to address is, they need to improve how they are washing dishes, it’s very unsanitary that they wash their coffee mugs and tea kettles etc with just a dirty old worn out sponge and dish soap. We need steam and daily sponge changing and/or bleach
Forest Hills just got their Yemeni-American style coffee house that is affordable! Azal Coffee has a pretty spacious store and they serve Yemeni-American style sweet delights that look very tempting. The decor is quite chic, giving a modern touch that matches their interesting menu. While it's not the quietest coffee house, you might still find a corner to work on your laptop. During my visit, I tried their Iced Mofawar ($6.49 and I added a splenda), the HoneyComb Bread ($7.99) and 5 pcs of Macarons ($2 each). The Iced Mofawar had very strong cardamom flavors and it was a bit overpowering for me, but the change in taste was evident as it's very different from any American style coffee. The HoneyComb bread was huge but quite dry on the inside vs being moist. My most favorite items were the Macarons, and I got five different flavors to try - I'd highly recommend them! One thing that they could improve on is having the food item names and their prices visible. It was pretty annoying to ask the cashier multiple times "what is this" and "how much is this" and it also wastes both the cashier's and my time. And by the time I asked questions, more customers entered the shop and I felt uncomfortable holding the line.
The coffee we tried here was not to our liking because well, there was very little taste or smell of coffee. I tried the Saudi coffee and it was like turmeric water/a runny soup. I tried my friend’s coffee with sesame seeds and it tested like cardamom, turmeric flavored water with a small hint of coffee. The latte here is really bad too. Tastes like 7/11 coffee with foam and a 1/2 pound of sugar dumped in. If you’re not into Middle Eastern music, don’t come here because they blast it. The second time I came here, the service was very rude as well. M On my second visit, my observation was that if you don’t look Central Asian or Middle Eastern/Arab, you’re treated as throwaway business. Didn’t try the pastries because they looked pre-bought and very generic. The bathroom was filthy even though the dining area itself looked clean.
So now that AZAL is settled in, I went there to buy a snack. Upon entry there was loud arabic music playing over a low quality audio system. Since I did not intend to stay, I went ahead anyway to peruse their products. I selected a spinach danish. The items do not have pricing displayed. Normally I just walk out when I see this, but I was in a hurry and was still hopeful that AZAL would live up to its dazzling interior decor. No such luck. I was charged $8.90 for an item weighing less than 3 ounces (see picture). Three doors down a similar product is priced at about 4 to 5 dollars, standard for NYC including Manhattan. I went to check the menu and price on the AZAL website. No menu, and no list of items available for sale. Also the town name is wrong. This area is not known as Flushing (the post office is a satellite of the main Flushing office). With multiple coffee shops within sight of this place - go elsewhere folks. Let a more useful business come in and provide a service that is actually useful.
