Everything was delish - the flatbread could do with about 1/2 the sauce and perhaps a lighter, fresh tomato sauce. Service was fantastic and the place is really really nice. I felt very comfortable and welcome there. Looking forward to going back. Happy hour is a GREAT deal!

Nice to have another restaurant in Fort Washington, especially within walking distance to the majority of the neighborhoods in the area. I used to live in Conshohocken and went to ‘Jasper’s Backyard’, which is the sister restaurant to ‘The Fort’ – It’s pretty much the same vibe. The appetizers we got were great. We got the Bavarian pretzel and the garlic chili wings, which were perfectly cooked. For my meal, I got the Italian pork sandwich - Pretty good. Next time I would love to try one of the pasta dishes. They get their pasta fresh from a local pasta maker in Ambler which we also enjoy. We went on the first night of opening. Service was slightly slow, but we were in no rush and pretty much expected it since everyone was learning their positions and getting the flow of working together. Our server made sure she checked up on us frequently enough and we had a great time. Would recommend if you’re in the area.

The food was good, better than the average for this type of restaurant. There were TVs showing the Eagles game visible from the dining area through a glass window. Our server, Charlie, was organized, attentive, and friendly. She was also very knowlegeable, anle to answer all of our many questions about the menu.

We dined for brunch. I enjoyed my shrimp soup and my entree. However they're short on the selection for desserts they carry. Overall I love the ambience the meal and service.

My friends and I organized a Fort Washington Elementary School "Mom Reunion" last week at The Fort Pub & Kitchen! The staff was so helpful in organizing the event for us and the service that evening was fabulous! It was a fun night for all ~ we will be back! Much Appreciated, Candise

The Fort Kitchen & Bar took over the old Upper Dublin/Fort Washington Friendlys' and they did an amazing job. The setting is cool...our food was delicious...the bar was packed...the restaurant was crowded and we were very happy with the prices. The menu was limited, but this might help keep the quality of the food delicious. This was a 1st time visit, but we will look forward to another meal soon.

Food was delicious!!! I had warm grain bowl with chicken..pretty much licked the bowl clean...so delicious. My husband had a triple smash burger..cooked perfectly and the toppings he added were plentiful. Expresso martini was well made. Staff was pleasant and attentive. Will def be back!!

We went in for an early dinner last week. Our server was Jaime. She was beyond amazing. It was happy hour. She made her recommendations on the menu, we had the wings, which were amazing. The chicken ranch sandwich and cheesesteak with Cooper was so good. My husband and I really enjoyed our meal, the fries were good, but it they cooked them for another 30 second to minute, they would be the perfect crisp..other than that..we will definitely come back!! Thanks Jaime for making our 1st experience at the Fort awesome!

Awesome food! Awesome experience! The servers and bartenders were second to none. The food was second to none. I will definitely be back five stars all the way!

A very relaxed ambiance. The menu is very casual food oriented. We ordered off the appetizer menu and had a delicious meal. The wings were among the best we've ever had. The humus came with plenty of flat bread and veggies. I had the smash burger which was large and very tasty. Excellent service. A Very friendly and comfortable.place.

I wanted to try a new place for our holiday luncheon, so I selected The Fort and I'm so happy I did. Our holiday luncheon was for 30 people so the reserved the front dining area for our group which was perfect. The staff was very attentive, friendly and accommodating. Finally the FOOD what can I say except FABULOUS. We have some picky eaters and their plates were empty and they gave me 2 thumbs up. 😊 It was a tough choice between the steak, chicken, salmon, pasta and the grain bowl. We will definitely be back next year.

Was there last night. Was greeted by a friendly and helpful hostess. Sat at the bar for a couple drinks with some friends. Very attentive and good bar staff. Made a nice martini. Poured a nice pint of Guinness. Sat for dinner. Had the rigatoni which was delicious. Great and attentive waiter. Very good overall experience.

The first two times I tried to come here it was an absolute mess and we ended up leaving before we could be sat. We gave it one more try to support this new restaurant and I’m glad we did. Overall, I wasn’t a fan of most of the food, but it’s a nice place to come grab a drink. I got the shrimp scampi dip since it was highly rated on the menu, but both my husband and I didn’t enjoy it. The roast pork sandwich and French onion soup were just ok, and at least 70% of the shoestring fries we ordered were hard. However, the eggplant ravioli was excellent. I would return just for that dish. The service was excellent as well.

J

Came here for the first time last night. The drinks were superb- the basil lemonade is super refreshing, definitely recommend. The wings were outstanding- the sauce really was so delicious. Could have used to be a little bit more crispy but overall we were happy with them. Eggplant ravioli and asparagus were very good as well. I like that they use locally soured pasta. My fiancé got the double BYO smash burger and did admit that it lacked flavor. I took a bite and agreed- burger could use some work but overall we were very pleased with our first visit and would return. Outside seating area is huge and nicely situated.

Had a great meal and drinks at The Fort! If you are looking for a great bar or dinner and drinks look no further! So excited to have this as a part of the community. Loved my chicken corn chowder, delicious wings, and smash burger. Great ambience for a date night or catching up with friends and family. Can’t wait to come back!

Tried the shrimp BLT. It was very tasty and flavorful. Everything is chopped. I tasted the tomatoes, bacon and lettuce in every bite. Occasionally I could taste the shrimp but not every bite. I'll try another item the next time. The side salad was delicious.

J

I found the drinks a bit overpriced, but the food prices were fair. The bartender was very attentive, the food was fine, and the atmosphere was nice (minus the yelling in the kitchen lol). A decent stop for lunch but I’d be hesitant to do dinner.

Nice place! Great service. Food was very good. We were a group of 5, and we had the breakfast skillet, smash burger, house salad with chicken and French onion soup. All were very good.

Had brunch there nice menu, we had a large group(25) and they sat us in the room up front, and we had the whole room to ourselves. Service was quick and the servers were kind. Food was just okay.

First time here so tried for lunch. Cuke martini was good. Had warm grain salad with shrimp-my only comment here was too many tomatoes. Turned dish slightly acidic so I was picking out most of them. My husband's burger and fries were good. Service and staff were friendly. Loved the James McQueen art which I collect as well but a different series. They definitely put an investment in art on the walls. We asked to sit inside and they put us in a room with a large family with kids. They were almost done but still noisy. No fault of family who were trying to enjoy lunch out and doing their best with kids. They had room to themselves until we joined. Plenty of room in rest of restaurant so would have been nice to be seated elsewhere. Didn't ask as would have been noticed by other family and they were trying so didn't want to put a damper on their time out. Overall enjoyed so will try again as they had a few other things on menu that I like to get.

Attended an after work function here back in June. It was open bar and the drinks were flowing pretty nicely. The wings and pizza were also on point. Well imagine my surprise when after it ended, my friend and I returned back to join our fellow co workers who were the last ones to leave, only to be told that we would not be served further. I couldn't believe it because although we were a little loud upon re-entry, neither of us were inebriated. Tipsy and in good spirits, yes, but that's what happens at a bar when you have control, and just want to enjoy yourself. After the waitress told us we couldn't order drinks, not making a scene, I asked for a manager. I can accept a bar's decision no problem since they have to protect their business, but I simply wanted an explanation why we were refused service. The manager came out, we had a conversation, and she wound up apologizing saying she could have handled it better. I will say she approached the situation like a true professional and with tact. My friend and I are black, (the other co workers were white and kept drinking, no problem and were probably more hammered than us. LOL) and I didn't think to make it a racial issue, I just wanted to be treated fairly considering we were hoping to patronize the establishment and spend more money. We didn't push the issue any further, but before I could leave, the manager (I think her name was Julie) called me back and gave me a gift card to return back another time. I gave her a hug and appreciated her going the extra mile. If more establishments would look to treat customers equally as people without judging, this world would be a much better place. Kudos to The Fort for employing amazing staff and managers.

The food was fantastic, drinks are on point. The Mac and cheese is amazing ( if they have it must try). Dominic our waiter was great, he needs a raise. Would return, when in town.

Saw this place advertised on a PhillyTV show. My friend and I thought it might be worth the 30 minutes drive. The facility is nicely decorated with eye-catching and trendy architectural appointments. I particularly love the framed glass wall separating the dining area and bar. The hostesses were warm and welcoming. Waitress was appetizer and drink orders. She readily addressed the concern that we have about one of our appetizer dishes. The drinks were okay but not a earth shattering experience. The food was aesthetically appealing however lacked seasoning ( to my satisfaction). Definitely a great place to hangout with family and friends. Prices are comparable to most restaurants/bar/grills.

C
Chris Hill

Comfort food. One-page menu, large page. Excellent shoestring fries and cheesesteaks. Upscale setting.

For a spot with pretty good reviews, I was disappointed by my recent brunch which was very average. The server was overwhelmed with the number of tables she was responsible for. It seemed like she was really doing her best, but had to run around too much. The food was okay--our pretzel appetizer and brussels sprouts were excellent. But the chicken and waffles came with not much chicken, and those who got sandwiches in our group were also not very impressed. The atmosphere was very cozy and fun. And the outdoor patio was really nicely finished. So it was an okay lunch, but not quite what I expected for the 4.4 star reviews from others.

I can't believe this location used to be a Friendly's Restaurant. They did fantastic job with renovations. The place has always been clean when I have visited. The wings well done are my go to order. The wait staff I have had so far was amazing.

R
Rob Martin

There were 4 of us. Great spot to catch up with friends. Vibe was great. Background volume can get a bit loud for normal conversation. We had hit/miss with our food. Cobb salad was underwhelming and what was served as Balsamic dressing seemed to be odd flavored mayo. (Despite us asking if the dressing was correct). One of our dinners was incorrect (corrected quickly). Spinach ravs and pork sandwich were enjoyed. Service was great.

This place isn’t bad. The service is fantastic! The hostess at the front was kind and greeted me warmly. The waitress for my table was attentive and wonderful. The food wasn’t terrible, I had the shrimp BLT and while that was tasty, the fries were not. I feel like they could have fried them up quite a bit more, as they were soggy and sad. I don’t know a single person on this planet who enjoys a soggy French fry. Once they fix that, they’ll have no issues getting 5 stars across the board.

This was my first time at this establishment. I ordered a take out salad after a long day of work. The ladies at the front desk were very courteous and welcoming and the restaurant decor looked inviting. However, they forgot to include the dressing for the salad and I was too tired to go back to the restaurant to let them know and pick up the dressing. I might give them another try.

I ordered food to go on Saturday, November 15 and Sunday, November 16. The burger and fries my mom loved and I liked the Cob salad. Sunday I had the chicken sandwich and my mom had the Salmon. Both dishes were good. Not sure why the salmon does not have a starch side (potatoes, fries, or rice) but whatever. Sunday Maddy tells me my balance I hand her my credit card she then escorts someone to a table, runs my card (not telling me there is a charge for using a charge card) than moves a chair out and puts a child chair at a table. And finally finishes my transaction. Well got back to the hotel and did say I was staying at the hotel to find that I had not cutlery or napkins. Thank goodness I had some with me.

Great spot for a quick bite and drinks! Food was outstanding, had the tempura cauliflower, deviled eggs and fried chicken sandwich and all were perfect! Taking a star off only because I asked for a shrimp BLT to go and when I got home found out that they gave me a Caesar chicken wrap. Will definitely make a return trip, just will be sure to check any takeout items before I leave. 😊

The service at The Fort was absolutely Amazing. We had a reservation for a group of 18 for Sunday brunch. The drinks came out fast, the team of waitresses continuously checked on us to see if we needed anything. The brunch came out fast as well.  I hate leaving negative reviews, especially  for small businesses, but the food was bland. I had the waffles and chicken. I could not detect any seasoning in the breading, the chicken was not marinaded, and the waffles were doughy and tasteless. My wife had the smash burger which she said was "just OK". The burger was so greasy that her French fries from the plate were sticking to the back of her hand. The Fort does not offer Coke or Pepsi products. The soda was an off-brand, was flat and not pleasant. Many of us asked for Cholula hot sauce because the uninspiring food. The Fort provided Franks hot sauce. I appreciate the rapid, friendly service but probably would not go back there again to eat.

Went for happy hour for 2. Fries and hummus were meh. Chicken wings were crispy. Chocolate gauche cake was served cold and lacks flavor. Nice atmosphere but unfortunately would not come back due to lack of variety of food and cravibility of the food.

J
James Hatch

I agree with many reviewers- the food is good, the service is prompt and friendly, but the noise level is deafening. I could hardly hear the other folks at my table. And I can tell the wait staff is aware of the noise level - they literally shout. I doubt the owners care, though. A noisy place like this gets diners in and out quickly. We were back in the car in an hour. It’s a shame. This could be a real go-to neighborhood place.

J
Joan Raiti

Ordered a smash burger, (where’s the beef?) Also ordered a roast pork with broccoli rabe (where ‘s the broccoli Rabe?) I had to search for the little bits that were in the sandwich. The side salad was shredded leaf lettuce, hard to get on a fork. Disappointed after spending 40$.

B
Brian Preston

Staff is great, smash burgers are good too. The wing pricing is out of control. For $2 per wing (which is egregious at every level) you'd think you were at least getting large wings, but they just small wings at 3x the price. They also need to turn the lights down in the bar area. It feels like a science lab in there.

M
Micah Bertin

I wish I could leave a 5-star review. I was with a group and everybody agreed the food and service were 5-star level outstanding and everything was quite reasonably priced. But everyone also agreed none of us would ever return because the noise level is intolerable. A group of 8 seated around a rectangular table and we had to shout to even converse with the person next to you; forget about conversation with anyone else. I've read the atmosphere be described as lively or vibrant, Sorry, for us it was a clattering din. Put up some acoustic panels and we'll be regulars.

M
Martha Drusedum

I placed a to go order for the first time last night. First tried to do it on line but was unable to order the items we had seen on the menu. Then tried calling and after the second attempt a very nice girl took my order. We had heard to order the build your own smash burgers, so that's what we ere trying. One with extra cheddar and avocado and fries and the other with extra cheddar and Tomato, lettuce and onion with a Caesar salad. Time was correct and arrived to pick up order was ready and I paid for it. Unfortunately I didn't check it as when I got home no side Caesar salad, instead fries. hardly could find the cheddar cheese, avocado and tomato. The burgers had very little flavor and were dry. I'm going to give this another try but I hope it improves because really was hoping for better food. Really want to support a local establishment. Very disappointed.

J
Jacquelyn Goldstein

We were excited to try a new place in the area, and loved the atmosphere and outdoor seating, but we were pretty disappointed in everything else. The smash burger, shrimp BLT and fries completely lacked salt and seasoning. The fries were also were hard and cold. The espresso martini tasted more like instant coffee than espresso.

D
Debra Amoroso

This was our second time here. The first time for dinner (soon after it opened) was a disaster. They forgot our order and we had to wait 50 min for our burgers. Plus it was so noisy. We went for lunch today and it was much of an improvement. I asked for hot tea and the water was not hot enough to steep the teabag. I asked for another and told it would be a long wait to get hotter water. I got onion soup which was mostly all cheese and had a very strange flavor. Would not get again and I love onion soup. My friend had a black bean burger which was only fair. He doesn't like curry and it definitely had curry flavor somewhere but not stated on the menu as such. Sadly I don't think we will be returning to this restaurant.

A
Andrew Duffy

The wings were good but way too expensive. Well over priced for the amount they give you. Also the service was really bad. Ordered an appetizer that never came and when done with food was not on the bill so the server never put it in. Could not tell the server because they had food runners so never really saw our waitress. Had to leave the table to go to the bar to order a 2nd round of drinks. The waitress never came back to check on us after taking our order. She was nice but maybe over matched or the entire place was understaffed. Would not return but the place looks and feels really cool. It is a shame the service and prices are so bad and high not worth it.

K

We were looking forward to trying this new restaurant! This was our takeaway: 1) loud interior- outdoor would be better 2) The bar area looked very busy, and was nice 3) The crispy potatoes were incredibly disappointing- wouldn't order again 4) The chicken dish needed much more sauce- the asparagus was hard. My fault. I should have requested that it be soft as I prefer that. There was a bone in the chicken and the piece was small. I would use boneless! The rice was good. 5) The pretzel was very good, but the cheese sauce was very bland and uneventful. 6) The wings were meh 7) I tasted my son's Caesar salad (and I love Caesar) and didn't like it. It tasted like mustard! 8) My husband liked the garden salad and thought the onion soup was just okay. 9) Ordered cheesecake to go- the smallest piece of dessert I've ever been given, but very good! Bottom line... I would try again but would probably just order a burger or chicken sandwich. Disappointed overall. The waitress was very nice! Wasn't worth $170 with tip (and my daughter only ate apps and ny son and husband had salads and soup)

Nico Kemp

The FOH staff was great even while busy. I got takeout and the salad had no dressing. Paying $16 for lettuce and cheese is wild.

E
Ellie Cusick

Went for the first time for lunch. Ordered the fried chicken sandwich and asked for no pickles. I can’t stand pickles. The sandwich showed up with pickles. No big deal, it happens. Sent it back and it came right back out so clearly they just pulled them off. Would have thought they’d remake it. It comes back and, well they forgot one so it still had pickles. Server comes back and I specifically asked to have it remade. Less than 5 minutes later, it shows back up. Now I have no way of knowing this for sure, but based on the room temperature sandwich and fresh out of the fryer hot fries, I’m guessing they cleaned it up some more and sent it back out. It was barely warm, the chicken breading was not crispy and the lettuce clearly had been sitting in cheese and sauce for a while. I tried one bite and then didn’t eat it. The server said nothing when she cleared my plate. Didn’t ask if it was ok, didn’t offer to comp it. Is it the end of the world? No but if I order something, I’d like it the way I asked for it. I’m still going to taste pickles even if they’re pulled off. I won’t be back.

B
B SM

Food was insipid. Burger dripping in fat, Duxelle was not seasoned and drenched in balsamic vinegar. Service was bad, 15 min from sitting to ordering, appetizers came before drinks, we had to ask the manager for refills.

R
Roshena Berndlmaier

We were very disappointed with the portion size. The meals were child size in all honesty. Taste of Bolognese sauce might have been great if there was no more than 2 tablespoons on the pasta. The blacken salmon was lacking any seasoning. I would not recommend ordering takeout if your staying at the hotel after a long day if your hungry!

K
Keith Hollis

Bring back the Friendly’s! Waited almost 15 minutes for anyone to take a drink order. When server came she was friendly and worked well to make our dinner out enjoyable. Food was not that great. Bolognese was average and was cold, portion was small and rigatoni overcooked. Short rib was dry but good portion size. Nice atmosphere. Didn’t appreciate paying the bill while server waited at the table to tap my card and decide on a tip. Doubtful we will be back.

j
john

Inconsistent and overpriced and just out right not good food trying desperately to be unique. A 19$ cheese steak half the size of the cheaper and better steak at Verona? Very loud inside I hope you enjoy the conversation at the table next to you. Won't go back. Tried again. Terrible. The Brussels were burned, had literally what would've been a half of a slice of bacon sprinkled on top, and no sauce. Dry and burnt. So the burned brussels came out quick...but then it took 34 minutes for our entrees to come out and the place wasn't even busy the place was half empty...I wonder why... The smash burger was also bland and just...not good. Who wants a dry paper thin burger on a soggy tiny bun to try to create the illusion you're getting this massive burger. The fad is over...get real cooks who can cook an actual burger...
