Docked a star for food only because they were out of most of the meats. Great sides and service, highly recommend! Amazing onion rings. Potato salad is a little dry for my taste, okra is outstanding.

Birthday Dinner at Heim BBQ For my birthday, my wife—true to form—wanted to take me somewhere we had never been before. Over the years, I’d heard about a BBQ spot in Fort Worth and passed by it countless times. That place? HEIM. We decided to check out the Magnolia location, just on the southern outskirts of downtown Fort Worth. Arriving right around dinner time, we were pleasantly surprised to find that Heim wasn’t too crowded, and there was plenty of parking available around back. Service That Stands Out From the moment we stepped inside, we were greeted twice—once by the bartender and then by someone we later learned was Jeff, a member of the owning family. Jeff’s warmth and enthusiasm immediately made us feel welcome. Without us even asking, Jeff started recommending menu items once he found out we were first-time visitors. What stood out was that many of his suggestions were dishes we had already heard about from other reviewers—a good sign! Jeff also took the time to highlight his employees, including the Employee of the Month, CeCe (I hope I got that right—way to go, CeCe!). It’s not every day that an owner makes it a point to recognize their staff so openly, and that spoke volumes about the culture at Heim. The Feast My wife and I shared a three-meat plate with a side of bacon-wrapped burnt ends, potato salad, 1849 onion rings (there's a story behind the name), and fried okra. We capped it all off with banana pudding, which was a sweet way to end the meal. As we ate, we noticed Jeff and his team constantly checking in on guests. It wasn’t just us—every table received that same level of attention. Now that’s what I call great service! The Food Honestly, there’s no such thing as a “bad” item on Heim’s menu. Choosing a favorite was tough! If I had to make recommendations, the sausage, brisket, smoked chicken, potato salad, fried okra, and onion rings all scored a solid 9 out of 10 in my book. But here’s the kicker—before we left, Jeff gave me a birthday surprise: a tour of the smokers! That’s when I saw the pulled pork and brisket cooking low and slow—and all I can say is, OMG. Next visit, I’m making sure to try that! Huge shoutout to Orlando, the master behind those smokers! Confidence in Their Craft One of the most memorable moments of the night was when Jeff stopped by to chat with us about BBQ. Not only did he talk about Heim’s offerings, but he wasn’t afraid to compliment the competition. That’s rare in the restaurant world, but when your product is as solid as Heim’s, you can afford to have that level of confidence. Final Thoughts If you’re in the Fort Worth area and craving top-tier BBQ, make a stop at Heim. The food is fantastic, the prices are fair, the atmosphere is laid-back, and the service is truly exceptional. Thank you, Jeff and the Heim team, for an unforgettable birthday dinner! #RodPVerified

We tried this because we had read great reviews. We were not disappointed!!! You walk up to a counter and order. A good majority of the seating is family style. It’s quick for bbq. They have a good variety of meats and sides. My husband said that it was by far the best brisket he’s eaten. The potato skins maintained their crispy exterior. The green chili Mac is AMAZING! The potato salad is different but so good! The burgers are cooked perfect medium. The sausage has a good bite to it. The bacon burnt ends tasted like meat candy. All around everything we ate was delicious and we would definitely return.

Fantastic place to eat. Brisket was very tender and turkey tasted great. The staff was very helpful. My wife wanted to substitute ribs for turkey and they were very accommodating. The manager was walking around asking people how their food was. He even chipped in delivering food. Completely different from Risckies where the managers just stood around. Not asking about food or service. I will go back to Heims again. Pleasant folks and great food.

We ended up going late and wish we wouldn't have as many options were sold out. We would recommend going early! But the service was amazing and the brisket and pulled pork were so juicy and tender. The spicy BBQ sauce and Green Chile Mac and cheese were delicious! Free street parking in a trendy area. Good atmosphere and liquor selection.

Heim Barbecue is hands down one of the best barbecue spots in Texas! The pork ribs are fall-off-the-bone tender, smoky, and packed with flavor – absolutely unforgettable. The sides are just as amazing, perfectly complementing the rich barbecue with freshness and variety. Everything tastes homemade and full of care. The atmosphere is welcoming, and the service is quick and friendly, making the whole experience even better. If you’re looking for authentic, mouthwatering Texas barbecue, Heim is a must-visit!

Happy hour sampler plate, always rocks and fills my need for barbecue! I get to taste tender brisket, savory ribs and glazed bacon burned-ends all on one plate! Bread, pickles and jalapenos provided free of charge! Heims BBQ is mine and hubby's fav!

This place was recommended to me by some good friends of mine. Since I live in Houston, I made a trip to come and check this place out. I was very amazed with just about everything this place had to offer. The atmosphere was very welcoming and vibrant with a modern industrial style. The service was great. And the cherry on top was the delicious BBQ plate. I ordered the 2 meat plate, (The Brisket and Pork Ribs w/ fries and Fried Okra). Out of this world! If you’re looking for great BBQ in the area. Hit this place up and you will not be disappointed!

I had a great experience here! The brisket was tender and moist, and the sausage was easily the best I’ve had anywhere in the DFW area. I also really enjoyed the ribs — they had a hint of sweetness that I really liked. The potato salad was absolutely delicious, and while the mac and cheese could have been a little creamier, it was still flavorful and satisfying. The vibe was very friendly and welcoming, making it a great spot to bring the family. Plus, you get to enjoy the downtown atmosphere while you’re there. I’ll definitely be coming back!

First off, anyone scoring this place below a 4, especially those who gave it 1-2 stars, probably scores everything bad. Second point, I read most of the lower scores and none of them got the Bacon Burnt Ends. That’s about like going to Burger King and ordering a salad. With all that’s said, this place is legit. The Candied Bacon Burnt Ends are amazing. I’ve never had anything like it. I’m..... speechless. And not to discount the brisket, it was just as good. Moist, tender, flavorful. If I had to complain, the Mac and cheese wasn’t that Mac and cheesy. But that’s not dropping the ratings down. The star of the show was amazing. And I liked the banana pudding. If you go to this place and don’t get the burnt ends, shame on you. Don’t even bother reviewing. Cool vibes, great location, clean, friendly staff, quick service, good bread and pickle options.

I have to agree with other reviewers that the brisket tastes like meat, but there was lack of smokiness and very minimal flavor on the brisket. I did however, like the rib's.

The food was really good. The brisket was moist and marbled with great flavor. I really enjoyed the bacon burn ends. My only complaint is that the portions were small for the price.

I read about this place in te as monthly and it has been on my list for quite a while. While being a Texas BBQ is quite a subjective thing to categorize. The fact that they had a burger on the menu that incorporated some BBQ elements in its composition felt like a great place to start. I ordered the farm to smoker along with freis and onion rings. The burger was a very good size especially having a good meat to bun ratio. The patty had a rich smokey taste that was not over powering. The construction of the burger with all of the elements played very well. The only request is to maybe have a cook temp closer to medium than well done. Simply because it affects the texture of the patty. The frys were classic crinkle cut but the onion rings were clearly the star of the sides. They were thick, sweet, crispy, and held up very well to several dunks in the spicy bbq sauce and ketchup. My only request is that I need more that 3 for the price would make my inner pit of a stomach smile. Over all this will definitely be one of my go to places for a great burger. Big thanks to the staff at Heims for a great experience.

Everything was great but definitely skip the onion rings. 300% more batter than onion and it is literally swimming in grease. I had to get a second tray to try to mop it up, but it was a lost cause.

Made it out to Heim for our alphabet date and North Texas BBQ tour! We got the meat platter which came with a little bit of everything (ribs, brisket, pork belly burnt ends, pulled pork, sausage) and we added the loaded potato salad, brisket mac and cheese, and banana pudding. This was the first BBQ spot I've been to that is more of a "dine in" type compared to some of the other guys. Sliced Brisket 3/5 - nice flavorful bark on the outside. I think maybe I had slices from an older brisket, because there was very little moisture left which made it slightly more chewy than you'd like brisket to be. Good smoke ring also. I'll have to catch them with a fresh off the smoker slab (this is one reason I like watching them cut, I usually pick which side I want my slices from) Ribs 5/5 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 - these were AMAZING. Perfect bite, perfect rub, and even better with their signature sauce. I would come back just for a slab of these! Jalepeno sausage 3/5 - nothing too special about it. Jalepeno, cheese and sausage PB burnt ends 4.3/5 - these were very good! Sticky, sweet, tender and flavorful. Pulled pork 3.8/5 - decent smoke flavor, stayed moist and really paired well with their BBQ sauce Loaded potato salad 4.7/5 - this was near perfect and definitely one of the better potato salads among the Texas BBQ ranks. Huge chunks of cheese, green onion, bacon and potatoes made for a very tasty side dish. Would be perfect with some black pepper and a little mayo/mustard to make it a bit more creamy Loaded Mac 3.5/5 - taking your first bite, you'd think this was a hit. The peppery brisket chopped on top of the Mac gave it the bite it needed. But when you try the mac by itself, it was definitely lacking. Mac and cheese is one of those personal preference foods on how you like it. As for me, I like different cheeses and textures (creamy/saucy, cheese crust) Onion rings 4.8/5 - get these! HUGE beer battered onion rings made to order. I would get the every time I come in the future. Banana pudding 3.5/5 - needed texture. Nilla wafer cookie bits would take this up a notch. Some other observations during our visit: they offer free sliced bread, onions, pickles and sliced Jalepenos. They also have a full bar, which is not too common among Texas BBQ spots. Will definitely be back for more!

I really wanted to love this place since the reviews are so good, but I was very underwhelmed. It started off strong with the service being friendly and helpful as the cashier was very sweet. When we went to grab our condiments we noticed the pickles, onions, and jalapeños were swarming with fruit flies. When we sat down the fruit flies were swarming around as well and made it hard to enjoy our meal. The bacon burnt ends were a little dry, the mac n cheese was flavorful but cold, onion rings were delicious, crispy golden brown, and brisket was about average. Drinks are a tad on the expensive side. My sons did enjoy their burgers. Overall, I was not impressed at the competition is tough with lots of stellar barbecue in the DFW area.

This was the greatest place "AT ONE TIME". with customers packed it in for Lunch. BUT BUT, when the owners sold to the new owners, ( Pope Grocery PPL ) it went straight down hill. Their smashburgers were great and then they did away with them, The new hamburger was overcooked and dry and smaller than the smash burger. They had specials on week days like Taco Tuesday and others. They had 3 choices of brisket ( lean , fatty and something in-between. Now they have 2 and and u never get 1/2 lb when ordered. The new owners let PPL go. The cooks changed and could not cook. The asian manager left who was great and personable. Claudia was behind the cash register. She left and became a nurse. You never saw anybody twice if you went in every 2 weeks. I use to eat here once a week. They served BBQ to teh Golfers at Colonial ( not any more ) . The new owners raised prices. PPL stoped going in and went to Gustos down teh street as it was far better and easier on your pocket book. The new owners will close on 2/1/2026 BECAUSE they could not make any money because they didn't know how to run the place. They did the same thing at Paris Coffee Shop down teh street. They bt the place and let everybody go. prices sky rocketed. The PPL who worked at Paris were there 10, 15 , 20 years. They made a decent living. They were let go and had no where to go. ..JUST THE FACTS

This is a 3 star BBQ joint if I’ve ever seen one. The brisket is ok. I would be happy with it if I smoked it but it lacks the quality of the Texas standard. Atmosphere is somewhat sterile. It’s an NFL Sunday and there’s ladies NCAAB and the Lane Kiffin documentary in the TVs. The worst part is the cost… what’s pictured was $25.95 before the tip. The fries alone (small) were $5.95. That’s almost criminal. I live within walking distance and wish this place was good enough to be one of our regular spots.

After the rave reviews, I was excited to try this barbecue joint. Unfortunately my expectations were too high. The brisket was just OK, no real flavor. Certainly nothing special. The ribs actually had some flavor and I would recommend that over the brisket. The hatch green chili mac & cheese is ok. Go with something else. The star of the meal was the potato salad. It was excellent, but I was there for good quality barbecue. It was no better than Rudy’s and cost more. Save a buck and go elsewhere. However be sure to pick up some of that potato salad to go!

I don’t know why this place has such high scores. Ordered fatty brisket at 1:30 on a Saturday and it was the driest and most awful brisket I think I’ve ever tasted. Had to drink water to choke it down. Onion rings were like sponges full of grease and not palatable at all. Other sides, potato salad, coleslaw, Mac and cheese, were bland and disappointing. Jalapeño sausage was amazing! Best thing we had. Green beans and okra were delicious as well. Staff were great and the place is super clean and inviting. Maybe Saturday's at lunch is just not the time to stop by?

Be prepared for extremely small servings. $5 side salad super small. $4.25 onions rings you get 3 onion rings. No sauce provided. Business provide better serving sizes or buh bye. I can make this food at home. Get real do you want me to come back and spend more money? I’m not coming back after how small the servings are. Pretty sure that’s a health code violation to leave the bartenders purse on the drink making counter. Dissatisfied with the sides of this bbq joint. Food was nothing special could make what I got from home and made even better at my house. There was not a dedicated bar tender. Had to wait a while was just like sitting at a table. If you are going to have a dedicated bar, please have a dedicated bar tender otherwise what’s the point?

Yeah all this looks really really good but the only meat that didn't need to be drenched in BBQ sauce was the ribs. The brisket and the chicken was severely lacking flavor. What do I mean? Brisket tasted like meat but with no salt or pepper. the chicken tasted like it was very lightly seasoned on the skin but somebody didn't actually season the meat. Beans were ok but I ended up squirting BBQ sauce in them to make them taste better. I've had better BBQ at buccees if Imma be honest with you. Ribs were good though

Heard many good things about Heim BBQ over the years. I didn’t enjoy my overall meal. I purchased the 3 meats that include 2 sides for $29.99. Texas-style sausage, twice baked potato salad, and BBQ sauce were good. Green chili mac ‘n’ cheese wasn’t creamy or cheesy. It was DRY! I was given mac ‘n’ cheese instead of the green chili mac ‘n’ cheese I ordered. Pork ribs were mid with a smokey pepper flavor. Pissed, I purchased two of Robin’s famous brownies. The one I opened was horrible! Crossing my fingers the other brownie tastes better, but I doubt it. Happy to see a self-serve table with bread, onions, pickles, and jalapeños. The staff were great, and I enjoyed the ambiance. The prices are better than most BBQ restaurants. Unfortunately, I won’t return. There are too many good BBQ spots in the area.

We ordered around 2:08pm Didn't get the food until 2:47,I know they are busy,I understand that. But to serve food that is over cooked NOT COOL! Fried pickles were way over fried!! Loaded potato skins were also over fried!! I took pictures of the items, not sure if I can post them

Don't waste your hard earned money unless you just want to do so. My first time ever having mac/cheese without the cheese sauce, it was like eating unsalted potato chips. Their beverage machine didn't have water, they also needed to check the syrup level in the beverage machine. As the soda's tasted really flat, mind you this takes less than 2 minutes to do. All you do is disconnect one hose from the old box and connect the hose to the new box; Stevie Wonder could do this! Their Bacon Burnt Ends were harder than a jolly rancher, however their brisket was really good; so that had me perplexed. When visiting the restroom, be prepared, that you'll be sharing a sink and need to hurry up and get out of the way for the next person. Save your time and go somewhere else, unless you just have to say you ate here. I should of just went to 225 BBQ in Arlington instead, but here we are.
