Foods are so yummy and good price compare to other Thai restaurants around the area. I usually ordered from DoorDash and GrubHub, and they are really fast. I would recommend the their Mango Sticky Rice.
The food here is just simply AMAZING! There is so much of the menu o still want to try but so far I have never left disappointed. They must do so much in carry out because every few minutes someone was picking up food.
Food is amazing! First time here, I got take out and tried the yellow chicken curry, medium spice with white rice, mango sticky rice, and an ice Thai tea. All the food I had was delicious and cooked perfectly! They have a very good lunch special for dine in in week days as well! I called my order in and the lady helping me was so helpful and kind. She even gave me a free cream cheese wonton since it was my first time going and it had just the perfect amount of filling, and a good crisp on the outside even with it being takeout. She also made my Thai tea right when I got there to ensure the quality of it. I haven't had a Thai tea as good as this one, it actually has flavor and doesn't taste like sweet milk like at most places. They also have the blue kind of mango sticky rice which is THE BEST! Even the rice was cooked perfectly. I have no complaints and will definitely be coming back! However I will say if you eat spicy, you could likely handle spicy level 3, as I got medium level 2 and the spice level was equivalent to pepper, in my opinion. For better reference, I eat jalapeños, Serranos, Valentina and am fine, once I have a good amount of Tapatío I'm done, so keep in mind when you choose your spice level :)
Service was amazing. The staff was friendly and the food came out quickly. Ordered a hot pot of Tom Yum Kha, Yellow Curry and hubby also had Drunken Noodles. There was plenty of chicken in the Tom Yum as well as the Yellow Curry. The prices here are very reasonable too, except the side of rice is $6, but it is pretty big. Everything was very flavorful and great spices. They play nice music inside and have TVs showing Thai food being made. The restaurant was very clean and had plenty of seating. They also seem to fill several to-go orders too. Parking is plentiful as it is in a larger shopping center next door to Sprouts. We will definitely return again.
I had pad see ew and tried steamed chicken dumplings. It was wonderful. We ordered mango sticky rice to go and it was delicious.
Very friendly and attentive staff. The food was tasty and filling.
Great little restaurant! Small, but enough room to be comfortable. Food is wonderful, and you are able to choose the spicy level you want. I chose extra spicy, and it was a perfect Thai meal. This happens to be one of our favorite restaurants, and it's less than a mile away. Service is excellent, and professional. I look forward to our next meeting here!
I've only tried their Tom Yum Soup and Pad Thai and they are good! My wife enjoys them too. Those are the only items we've tried but since it's so good we've had them 4 times already. Update: We've also tried their Pineapple Fried Rice and Crab Fried rice and they're also very yummy. The crab fried rice is a new favorite.
It was an amazing experience being my first time
This is my favorite Thai restaurant in the area. Everything I've tried is delicious, everyone who works there is kind and attentive. I cannot speak for the Karen's of the world though; they'll find fault anywhere. For regular folks who love delicious, authentic, spicy, Thai food... go here! They were even able to navigate me thru the menu for my stupid food allergy. Success!!!
Went based on Google maps’ notation of “vegetarian options”. This was an amazing find!! Polite waitstaff, numerous veg food options, and absolutely delicious food. Our group shared a curry, a chow mein, and another veg dish, and we all loved every bite.
Everything is nice . My husband , my son and me are so happy and really Enjoy all the food that we ordered ( Boat noodle, Chicken noodle, Larb ,and pork ribs . Perfect lunch. Quiet, Nice and have the slide show of the food show on monitor .
As someone who’s lived in Asia for a long time, I’m always on the lookout for Thai food that tastes authentic—and this place absolutely nailed it. The flavors were bold, balanced, and definitely not watered down, which is such a treat when you’re used to the real thing. From the outside, you might not expect much—it’s tucked away in a spot you wouldn’t think to look for amazing Thai food—but don’t be fooled! This place is an absolute gem. The staff was incredibly kind and helpful, which made the experience even better. Everything we ordered was absolutely delicious. The sautéed eggplant (I added ground chicken) was packed with flavor, the green curry was rich and comforting, and the fish dishes were a standout. We had the fried whole fish with ginger sauce—it was savory and spicy, not sweet, which I loved! Perfectly cooked and full of flavor. I also had a Thai tea, which had milk and just the right amount of sweetness—refreshing and satisfying. This has officially become my new go-to Thai spot. Highly recommend if you’re craving the kind of flavor that transports you straight to Southeast Asia.
food is amazing! It is a small place located in a strip mall. The food is good and the prices are reasonable. They offer traditional Thai favorites and other delicious dishes. They offer: Delivery, Take out, Dine In! What I got: - seafood coconut soup came with fish, shrimps and mussels. The broth is flavorful with a hint of coconut milk. -crying tiger comes with salads, slice of pumpkin and sender pieces of grilled beef. -white rice is aromatic and is perfect with soup -pompano with ginger sauce comes with ginger sauce. The fish is deep fried and crispy. -Thai tea is aromatic.
This gem is a real treat! The pad see ew had probably some of the best beef I've had in a pad see ew. You could really taste the charbroiled beef and veggies. The yellow curry had enough spicy kick to enjoy and savor all the flavors. And it was my first time trying the sticky rice... WOW. It was absolutely divine. A warm coconut hug! Also, the mango were incredibly fresh. I can't wait to go back and try more items! The service was amazing and they are so sweet and nice.
Very quiet and lovely place. Food is so delicious and amazing, employees are polite and friendly. I love this place and would like to come back again every time. Thank you☺️
I've had a difficult time finding Thai dishes worthy being notable to write about. I had a very impactful experience when I was young with a Thai restaurant my father brought me to in Long Beach and I have been trying to find an experience like that since. As you can probably tell by my photos, I've been to Mai Thai many times since my first visit and I found myself needing to say something about this place. The mango salad hits the same as what I experienced when I was a kid. It's the flavors I've been searching for. I asked if they could make it with the strong fish sauce (the dark, stinky stuff that the Vietnamese called mam ruoc - not sure what its called in Thai) and it absolutely slaps. Sweet, salty, sour, spicy - all the right notes. Pair it with the Pad Thai with combo meat (beef, chicken and shrimp) and you've got yourself a home run. The e-san sausage is killer with its lovely sour and savory notes. Pad See Ew is comfort food when I don't know what I want to order. The roasted duck curry is delightfully spicy and served with a portion of proper, quality white Jasmine rice, not that random American long grain stuff or Basmati rice. The quality ingredients are standout on their own and when prepared together in their dishes, it really does hit nicely. The service is outstanding - legit Thai staffing and kind manners. Pro tip: I noticed that if they ask if you want Mango Sticky Rice, it means the mangos they got in are ripe for eating and you should not turn it down. It's absolutely superb.
Decided to treat myself for some Thai food on my day off. Parking: There’s a large parking lot with plenty of spots. Tip: They close at 3-4:30pm everyday! Last call for lunch is 2:45pm, and last call for dinner is 8:45pm. Ambiance/Environment: They have a medium sized space with booth seatings. Perfect for large groups or a date! It’s warm, welcoming, and clean. You can order takeout or dine in. Service: I was greeted immediately once I walked in. Shout out to Sue and the other female worker (I didn’t catch her name sorry)! They’re both attentive, courteous, & efficient! They constantly checked on me and refilled my water. Foods & drink: 1. Mai Thai sampler - Started off with an appetizer filled with 3 dumplings, 3 egg rolls, 3 shrimp rolls, 3 cheese wontons, and 3 fried tofus with sweet & sour sauce. This is definitely shareable, and the sauce made it more delicious! 2. Bangkok Noodle w/ chicken - My favorite! These are flat rice noodles stir fried with egg, bean sprouts, green onion, and black pepper. There was a generous amount of chicken. Good amount for one person. 3. Larb Chicken Salad - Minced chicken seasoned with lime juice, red onions, green onions, roasted rice and mints. All the flavors of this dish were absolutely flavorful! The chicken was cooked well. Not too overwhelming or heavy either. 4. Tom Kha Koong (shrimp coconut soup) - I ordered a small size. This contained shrimp, lemon grass, & mushrooms in hot & sour coconut soup. I prefer this with less mushrooms. Other than that, everything else was delicious. The soup was citrusy and creamy! 5. Mango sticky rice - I looove mango sticky rice! There was a perfect of coconut sauce on the rice, and the mango was fresh! 6. Thai iced tea - The tea tasted as expected. It had an equal amount of tea to creamer ratio. Pricing: This is actually affordable, especially in this economy, for the amount you get. Will definitely be back for more!
Mai Thai is not too busy at lunch time on a weekend. I gravitate towards the same Thai fare over and over and Mai Thai hits the spot.
My bf and I have been searching for a good Thai food spot since moving out to HB. We're big Thai food fanatics, honestly if we find the right place we'd probably be dining there once a week. I'm seriously addicted! So I'm happy to say that my experience at Mai Thai Restaurant did not disappoint! My bf and I dined here yesterday for the first time. They weren't too busy for it being a Sunday afternoon, which was nice. It looked like there was only one server working anyways so it's a good thing they weren't packed. The restaurant is located in an older strip mall that has ample parking so that won't be an issue. The restaurant does look super dark from the outside, honestly I was questioning if they were even open when we arrived. But don't be put off by their tinted windows and the barely noticeable open sign flashing. They're open! When we walked in they had a sign in the front advising customers to wait to be seated. Make sure you wait! There was a customer that tried seating himself after us and they made him go back and wait in line. So take the signs seriously. We were seated less then a few minutes from walking in though so there basically was no wait. The restaurant has a very dark vibe to it, kind of matches the way it looks from the outside. The black upholstered seats, mirrored walls and dim lighting makes me think it used to be a hookah lounge or something of the sort. I liked it though! Very different. The food is obviously the main point of this review so I'll move on to it. We ordered the following: Cheese wonton ($8.75), Thai fried rice ($12.75), Pad Thai ($13.75), Panang Curry ($13.75) and a large Thai tea to drink ($6). I'm actually not sure if we got the Crab rangoon or the cheese wonton. I know my bf ordered the Crab rangoon but when it was brought out to us it looked like the only filling was cream cheese so I'm assuming we got the cheese wontons instead. Either that or their filling has very little crab in it. Also, the sweet and sour sauce that came with it was a little watered down and thin. That would be my only complaint. Other than that everything else was delicious! The fried rice was cooked perfectly, Pad Thai had just the right amount of fish sauce in it so it didn't taste too fishy like some other places we've tried. The Panang was piping hot and tasty! Very spicy but we asked for medium so thats definitely what we got! Their Thai tea is amazing too - the right ratio of tea to cream so it wasn't too sweet or tea-like. The wait time for everything was pretty good too. From the time we were seated and ordered to the time our food arrived was probably in the span of maybe 10-15 minutes. Not bad. I'll definitely be coming back here in the future! I'm happy to have found a good Thai spot in the OC.
I love this place. Reasonably priced, great portions and the food is delicious. My favorite? Pumpkin curry with tofu! I also love the Pad Thai with tofu. The Thai spring rolls are incredible! We have been getting the Mai Thai sampler lately. It's an incredible selection of yummy appetizers. The menu is large and has a great Variety to choose from. Noodles, Curry, Veggie Lovers, the Mai Thai Specials, the Grill, deserts and a special Lunch menu. You can choose your "spice" level. Medium has some kick, at least for me. They have delivery also. Check it out! You'll love it!
I was craving Asian food and looked up a place in the area close enough for a drive down PCH afterwards. I'm really happy that I tried Mai Thai Restaurant for the first time. We ordered the Glass Noodle Salad minus the shrimp and the Pepper Steak with garlic. First off, the glass noodle salad was super tasty! Don't let being a salad fool you this thing packs flavor with zestiness. It reminded me of a Mexican ceviche with all the ingredients coming together. Next, the pepper steak and veggies with garlic noodles all packed with a seasoned flavor of spice. Not too much and not too little. I didn't ask about making it spicier so next time I will see. Happy eats!
Very good ambiance. Varieties of Thai foods available here and it taste very good. Staffs are very polite and responsive. Dine In and Take out, both options are available here. Liquor is also served here. This is a very romantic place. You can visit this place with your loved one. I have visited this place multiple times and would like to come again and again.
Lunch specials are a great deal! We got both pad se ew and penang curry. Both were ready very quickly and piping hot!
This gem is a real treat! The pad see ew had probably some of the best beef I've had in a pad see ew. You could really taste the charbroiled beef and veggies. So glad we decided to try this again! We all got something different, and we all enjoyed our meals. I asked about the steamed dumplings because they are no longer on the menu, and the still make them! So good!
I absolutely loved my meal here! I ordered the coconut water, crab fried rice, tofu khao soi, and mango sticky rice, and everything was delicious. The crab fried rice was flavorful and perfectly balanced, not too oily, with just the right amount of crab. The tofu khao soi was the standout dish for me: creamy, rich, and full of layers of spice and texture. The coconut water was super refreshing and served chilled. And to finish, the mango sticky rice was heavenly. Ripe, sweet mango with perfectly sticky rice. The portions were generous, the service was kind, and the flavors tasted fresh and authentic. Definitely a spot I’ll be coming back to. Highly recommend!
Best teriyaki I have ever had, not syrupy sweet.
Great place to bring your friends for a group meet up or a date. Clean comfortable atmosphere. My friends and I come here pretty often and everything we've ordered has always been authentic and well made. Favorite dishes included the crab fried rice, boat noodles, e-san sausage, papaya salad and the pad thai. Its seasonal, but I really love the sticky mango rice here. The dishes are hefty in size and great to share.

It was pretty good! I'm not a tai food person. It tends to be way too spicy, or almost no spice at all! There was a lot of ginger flavor, (fresh ginger) but not much else to balance it out! The steak wasn't bad for what it was, but again not thrilled with spices. They were very watered down tasting. And wasn't a good balance for me. But again, I'm not a Thai connoisseur! Also veggies were overcooked for me. I ordered Steak that came with rice and veggies . Veggies were on the soft side and rice was a wet paste. The bottom half of the container looked like a clear thick paste. You couldn't see any rice grains. I think this food was edible and pretty healthy. But way over prepared and bland. I hate writing these kinds of reviews .. but maybe they will change it and help their business! I would try this at a different time. But I would be prepared to change it and fix it up.
Good place to have Thai food, clean, good customer service. Crab fried rice is very good, large portion. One thing scares me about Thai food is some places prepare it too sweet or too greasy. Not at all at Mai Thai. Nice people. I am glad it is in my neighborhood
Mai Thai is total gem! I ate here for the first time today for lunch with a co-worker. She was in the mood for Thai and sadly to say this was not our first choice, but will be from now on. The restaurant is located off Magnolia and Talbert, inside an opening shopping center. It's a little hidden but a decent size inside. The lunch specials are $6.95 per person and portions are generous. I couldn't finish my dish because it was a lot of food. It was not crowded, about 1:25pm this afternoon, so finding a seat was not a problem. There are no pictures of the dishes so you have to gamble a bit. To paint you a picture, it's one plate with salad, egg roll, rice and the entree (if a rice dish). My friend ordered the Bamboo Shoots while I had the Red Curry. The server gives you an option of how spicy 1-5. I went with 5, as spicy as possible, but a little disappointed because I expected more. The flavors were all there, but I wanted more spice. The beef with the red curry mixed with rice just hit the spot. The salad dressing was good, not overpowering and the dish just went well. My friend was picking at my dish because she liked the red curry sauce. Delicious food! Service was great. The server checked on to ensure we were having a pleasant stay. $15 for two people, definitely a steal. I plan on coming back sometime soon.
7.12.24 when we were there.. this place seems to be visited by none asians.. food good but price is on the higher side. My dish doesn't seem it has enough flat noodle portion. Staff are very friendly.
First Visit—seemed a bit odd entering with a sign on door saying Closed Lunch (but then I see there’s a time) they need to adjust that to say Closed during these hours. They are Open at lunch. They offer a special where you order any Ala Carte item and for $1.99 extra you get a choice of certain appetizers plus a choice of certain drinks. It’s ok but I didn’t choose it because I didn’t need those items. Ordered Drunken Noodles with Beef (heat 3). Was perfect—delish flavor and perfect heat! But $22 for lunch is ⬆️ Small dining area and dry guest service, but what can you do. Food is good so I’d recommend!
I walked into this place after visiting Sprouts next door. Ordered seafood pad see ew and mango salad. Both were very yummy. 2 dishes + tips = $44. It wasnt busy at all around 7pm. Service and food came out quite fast and friendly. Will come back to try more dishses!
This place makes the best Thai Beef Noodle Soup, period !!!!! Fresh and tender slices of beef, cooked with soup full of spices 🤤 Mai Thai also makes very nice Thai Tea and Pad Thai (we took away leftover, still tasty the next day)
Good food. Love the soft shell crab mango salad. Their vegetarian curry is amazing! Must try the chicken satay with peanut butter sauce 👍🏻

I was a little disappointed with my choice of food. I had sweet and sour chicken. Sauce was good. Rice was cooked perfectly, but the lack of chicken was the downfall. I had to search for a bite of chicken. Add a little more meat to the dish, and it would be perfect.
Portion sizes are much smaller! Paid more for the Thai beef salad, bur smaller. It used to be enough lettuce, veggies and meat to share for two. There was hardly any lettuce or veggies. Still tastes great, but not even giving one portion is ridiculous
I order some to go today. I asked some Thai Chili in Fish Sauce. The person working there would only give me one!!! Wow really one!!! Oh well no tip for her!!! I guess that fish sauce is just worth so much to you!!!!
Nice staff but unfortunately no vegan options 😕

Have been ordering here for several months, and food and service have been great, but tonight they seem to have fallen apart. No delivery, and the order pickup time was delayed 40 minutes after showing up on time. Staff said they were "just too busy" too even call and notify of late preparation time, which changed twice after our arrival for pickup. Unfortunate, when we are tryign to support local vendors in these trying times...
I ordered from this place for pickup, the place said they were open till 3 (their open sign was still on too) and when I got there at 2:45 the doors were locked, nobody would let me in (I stood there for like 10 minutes) and nobody answered the phone. I had to leave the area as I was done doing what else I had to do there and I called them when they reopened later that day asking for my money back since I couldn’t get my food. The lady on the phone gaslit me, said she was there the whole time and wouldn’t give me my money back. Extremely rude and wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone.
Some of the worst Thai food I've ever had. Ordered "Phad Thai" take-out, and got soggy, overcooked, chaos, that looked like garbage and didn't taste right. Too much tamarind or something, and yet somehow managed to be dry. Asked for a refund and the "owner" a rude little woman tries telling me "no" because I drank the can of soda I also purchased to wash away the disgusting taste of the food. After reminding her of what a "charge back" and Google reviews can do to a business, she finally gave me my money back. Avoid.
This place has terrible food! I won’t go there again. Yuk!
Slow and poor service. Portions have been reduced in size while price has gone up significantly. Quality of the food is typical fast food place, so it is overpriced for what they now charge. Save your money for a better Thai place for about the same price. Cannot recommend this place to anyone I like.
