Opinions de Fu Lam Moon Restaurant Fremont
Went here for a dinner service, and they nailed everything we ordered. The stir fry with beef was awesome, shrimps were great, and the fish was steamed just right, not overcooked. Ambiance is old school Chinese, but a big plus are the higher ceilings so it doesn't feel to loud or claustrophobic.
Service wasn't bad for Chinese food, and the dim sum was great! I thought the price wasn't bad at all for a white-tablecloth dim sum place. I would definitely be happy to go back! Good assortment of the usual dim sum items, along with more traditional dishes.
Great dimsum, reasonable prices, and something you can't buy - excellent and friendly staff. A few months ago, I got home with a take out order only to find that one of my dimsum dishes had been left out. Last weekend I ordered takeout again, and this time made sure to open each bag and verify I'd gotten everything. The front desk manager and I were chatting as I did this (and he was being so friendly and offered a lollipop to my daughter), when the forgotten dish came up in our conversation. He immediately apologized and threw in an extra dish of my choice! My family and I have frequented this restaurant for at least 2 years, and have always seen the staff being friendly and courteous to every table. I know of certain dimsum places in Milbrae where diners have to beg for water and tea, and I feel that Fu Lam Moon goes above and beyond to change that aspect of the dimsum experience.
Generous portions of excellent Dim Sum. Reasonable prices. Great service. Fresh shrimp, crab, and lobster. They're alive and swimming in tanks of water by the door when you go in.
great food at very decent prices, the lobsters and the crabs are always fresh. But the place really need an interior makeover inside the dining area. Feels like everything is stuck in the 1980s
The food and dim sum are very good, tasty and above average among most of the the bay area chinese cantonese restaurant. Price is reasonable. Service is not bad, like family style.
Sad to see the restaurant close down, the Dim sum and food overall was good. Hopefully they are only closed for the construction and will reopen once everything is done. They really did need a remodel, the building and interior was really old.
Very authentic Cantonese food and great service. I never expect good service from a Cantonese restaurant but this one exceeded my expectation. Highly recommend.
Great family style restaurant... Large food portions for sharing. The BBQ fried rice, porridge, fried noodle, and vegetable dishes were all delicious. The food came out fast and the service was great. Parking was easy.
The Geoduck Congee and Saute are delicious, the chef are caring, they used thin sice for frying and thicker fatier cuts for congee. Off menu Crispy seafood noodle is too salty. 15% tip and dessert are added. The dessert is unsweetened with sweet syrup on top. Server is very hard working but not good at recommending food. She recommended vegetable n pork instead of restaurant's specialty.
Walking in is a beautiful kumquat tree and a bunch of large Koi. On the side are the various aquarium tanks with crustaceans and fish. They even have decorations of lobsters and a crab as well as a flower wall art piece. Also, the vegetables are excellently prepared.
Delicious original Chinese. Dimsum and fresh seafood still on point. OG.
Authentic Hongkong-style seafood. Amazing king crabs. Strongly recommend!
Best chinese food I have had so far in the Bay Area.

Good food. Can handle large groups. Prices are midrange. Service is acceptable but not great. Seasonal sea food is a plus.
We've been coming here for lunch on Thanksgiving day for the past 3 years. We always order their lobster noodles which is pretty good. Their dim sums are fine too. They serve standard Chinese fare that hasn't disappointed us yet.
This is perhaps my favorite Chinese restaurant: large portions; very varied menu; lots of different veggies in the dishes with veggies; 99% Chinese folk eating here, but I never felt odd eating here as an Anglo. The only reason I did NOT give them five stars is THE TELEVISION which hardly anyone watches! Get rid of the T.V.!
mom says the dim sum here is better than any of the other places we go to, but don't bother coming right when they open. there's hardly anyone there, so you'll be sitting waiting for the place to fill up. their patrons sleep in, and the place fills up by 11:30 or so
Nice decoration, clean, bright, tidy and roomy after renovation. Food is good, a bit pricey. Services is average, staffs are friendly. Highly recommend if you have a group of people.
The place was almost empty on a Friday night, and it smelled a little weird. HOWEVER I had the best lobster noodle and Peking duck I've had in a while. Excellent service on top of that.
the food are fresh and delicious, can't find anyone better than here. the only improvement they may need as the waiters. we come for enjoy the food and want to be happy, a smile face and no rush service will be appreciated.
Good service, good price, decent Dim sum dishes, great for a weekend lunch. Wait time is reasonable, 15 minutes approximately.
I was searching for a dim sum place and this restaurant’s name came up with decent reviews. I went there but found out that they no longer serve dim sum, only the regular Chinese food menu. We ended up ordered congee and lobster noodles and those were quite good.
I met my wife in this place back to May 21th 2015, I was a waiter at this restaurant. However it was a magical night and a” Vegas marriage”story.👰💕 The restaurant has multiple seafood selections, live crabs 🦀 live fishes 🐠 live lobsters. 🦞 Please play attention when you play the bills they will automatically charge you 15% tips, If your table more than 6 persons !!! 💵💸💰

They've been around forever. I went to high school nearby and always loved coming here. Food is not superb but most of it is decent. The dim sum is pretty good, too. Also a great place for late night (after 9pm) if you're hungry. Not sure if they do it anymore but I have many late night Fu Lam Moon memories.
A good family restaurant with long history in the community. Fresh seafood- fish, big lobster (6 lb. and above) or unique king crab. Food prepared according to instructions. Service adequate. Reasonable cleanliness.
This would have been a perfect place but the wait staff up sell too much to the point it becomes overboard and annoying. For four adults and six kids (kids had pizza from party before) we told the waiter it's really four adults eating, yet he tried to push a $250 lobster and a $32 a pound fish (fish was about two pounds) even though we already had seven other dishes. But once you're able to navigate around this, the good is really good. We had a 6 pound geoduck two style sashimi and soup and it was very flavorful and didn't taste the MSG. The quality and quantity was there. In fact, there wasn't a single dish that was bad. Even the egg white and dried scallop fried rice had the right amount of oil. Tea was one of the better ones; even after the fifth refill the tea was still dark and bold. There's the standard red bean dessert which wasn't overly sweet or thick. Cleanness could be better but it's acceptable.
I loved this place. My family went to this restaurant to celebrate Chinese new year. The food all tasted amazing. My grandmother and her kids ordered one of the banquet menus and really enjoyed the pork shoulder, lobster, oysters on greens. The younger generation ordered lemon chicken, west lake soup, pea shoots with garlic, chicken chow fun, Peking duck, Singaporean style noodles, walnut prawns. It is a bit pricey (especially the banquet menu) but everything tastes amazing.

Southern style Chinese food. Not ideal for anyone with a Szechuan tongue. Primarily came here for family dinners. Their stir fried beef is done well, beef has a good texture and bite along with savory sauce over the veggies. Fish dishes here are also pretty damn good, but as started, most of which have a Guangdong flavor to it. There is an issue of cheapness on management. Came here on Father's day, the whole place was packed, it was over 100 degrees outside, and management refused to increase the AC power. So imagine 60 - 80 people in a packed medium sized restaurant, with tons of hot dishes in front of you, while it's scorching Cali weather. The waiters were sweating body weight into the arm pits of their shirts.
The rating is accurate. It doesn’t taste well. And it was super cold inside. They need to have better menu option and better chef.
the server was very attentive. food was so so. black pepper beef was good. the cashew chicken had stale cashews. the broccoli was good.
Too much msg in the food. We ate dim sum. Fu Lam Moon is a traditional Cantonese style restaurant, with old style, inexpensive decor. Parking is abundant, food is average, prices are ok.
One of the earliest Hong Kong style Dim Sum restaurants in the Fremont city. Decoration is not fancy, foods are OK, and costs are reasonable.
The dim sum is ok, not the best but not the worst I have had. Prices are very down to earth, however. Parking is plentiful.
We missed the dim sum, as Fu Lam Moon does not serve them anymore. Several customers left as they wanted dim sum. Since there was no dim sum, so we ordered lobster noodle and beef chow fun for lunch. They were okay, but again, no dim sum, and we felt disappointed.
When checking out they wrote the tips 15% for you, which I don’t like. Lobster 22 dollars per pound, is it good price?

This Dim Sum place was good a couple years ago. I went there last weekend and Dim Sum service was ok, a little bit slow. Waitress were kimd of pushy on getting some dim sum.
Food was a bit pricey. The waitress kept trying to correct us on what we wanted, as if she knew better. A little of putting on how pushy the service is.
We ordered salt and pepper 🦀,but it was not fresh at all. It cost $45 for one dead crab. Rip off
Totally empty restaurant. We were completely alone in a big space. The waiter was friendly but barely spoke English. The most delicious meal was just water with ice. We tried couple of meals and it was eatable, but it was hard to enjoy it. It was our first and definitely last visit.
I used to go here all the time as a child. We drove up from San Jose. Only to find out the restaurant wasn’t open despite the hours online. Then we met the owner or some lady and she was like oh today we’re running late. Ma’am it’s 12 pm.. and we wanted dim sum but she said there was none. It’s a yum cha restaurant for a reason? She also couldn’t speak Cantonese despite owning a Cantonese restaurant.

If I can give this place 0 stars I would, the staff was rude and even threw the bowls at our table, we order a lot of dishes and the rice came right in the end. We asked him nicely and he not only screams at us and still takes till the end when we about to finish and then like I mentioned in the beginning, threw the bowls at the table. Never come to the place, food was not even that good. Would not recommend to anyone. Just don't come here.
Not worth it. The restaurant smells bad. Waiters pretend to not understand English only to their own advantage. (like charging more) Unwilling to cancel credit card charge. Also put off by the constant up selling of dumplings et al. Overall poor experience while getting quick lunch.
DO NOT BE FOOLED by the "99cents dim sum" on their poster by the door! NO SUCH THING!!!!! We were even told that the manager and owner of this restaurant refused to remove the claim from the poster so it could lure innocent customers inside! We were fooled, too! Dim sum varieties were soooo limited and NOT cheap for the quality. DON"T waste your money or time here! Also, don't trust the pictures on the dim sum order list - We ordered a plate of "Cha-siu-so" (baked pastry with BBQ pork inside), which the menu said was of "Medium" size and price. However, the server marked it as a "Large". When we questioned about it, we were just told that's the way it is. NO explanation what so ever! Totally cheating us! Quality was not good either! The texture of the Steamed Beef Balls was so mushy that they did not resemble beef (or even a mixture of beef and pork) at all. DON"T WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE!
Why dont we have 0 star option? Staff denied service because my kid wanted to use restroom for a take away. I paid $10 for just using restroom in urgency. I will never recommend such rude, racist and greedy place for any one.
Can I rate zero star? The service is very rude. He count the money bills one by one in front of us without saying a word while we were still sitting. Never go back.
This place is BAD. Not only is their food subpar, but their food and business handling is almost illegal. Very shady place. -They reuse food that people haven't completely eaten. I saw them dump some of the soup back into the pot that was from another table. -They dropped some food on the floor and picked it back up to serve. -The food itself is bland. I got the noodles and they were mushy, had no flavor and did not taste good. -At the end, when they returned the receipt to me, THEY WROTE IN THEIR OWN TIP. Usually when you get your receipt back you have the option of writing your own tip and signing for it, BUT THEY DID THAT FOR ME. What kind of restaurant writes in the tip. Never have I ever had this happen.

Came here for Mother’s Day dinner since we wanted to try somewhere else new besides the ones we always go. It was very bad experience. Besides the poor customer service (nobody came for exchanging plates or checking on us after ordering food) and most dishes were so-so taste; the worst thing was that the business honesty. We were charged for a 6.5 lbs lobster but it looked like only 3 lbs and a 3 lbs crab but it looked like maximum 2 lbs! We also ordered and charged for extra pumpkins in the crab dish but only came with total 5 pieces! Don’t think we will come here again!
What happened! This place used to be great. Do not waste your time or money.
The worst chinese food i ever had in my life. We ordered 9 dishes and food served was longer than what we expected. They took 15 minutes to bring out per dishes to the table which was very inconvenient for customers. And also food taste is so terrible and also most of the dishes are salty . Do not recommend at all to this restaurant and I will never come back to eat here for sure.
